As her paced increased so the familiar burn along her calves, an indicator that it was nearing time for Addison to wrap things up. Finishing her lap Addie slowed to a stop, bending over and resting her palms against the tops of her thighs as she struggled to catch her breath. Chest rising and falling heavily with her labored breathing Addison took her time before she stood, allowing her heart rate to decrease and her muscles to relax. Addison had never believed in moderate excersize, and though her intentions that morning was for a light jog to wake herself up, she had ended up sprinting across the grounds, as usual. Addie couldn't do anything without pushing herself to do better, and each time she did something she worked that much harder to beat her personal best at whatever that may be. As she straightened, lean legs ached in protest at the movement, and for once Addison listened to her body, settling into a spot on the grass to allow herself to cool down properly. Addison had always been an early riser, and breakfast hadn't even reached the long tables in the Great Hall yet. The young slytherin had plenty of time to get ready for her classes still, she wasn't in any rush. Pushing her hair back off her forehead, dragging her fingers through the golden locks and tousling her hair gently Addison leaned back into the grass, propping herself up on her elbows, stretching her legs out infront on her. Her habit of waking early had started in her childhood, when her grandfather would always rouse the girl from her bed soon after the sun rose, always grinning and energetic as he told his grandfather to make the most of each day. Addison had loathed the routine for a good while, always grumbling and dragging her feet as she went about whatever tasks needed to be done that day but as she progressed in her schooling Addison started to appreciate it. A true morning person Addison hated being unproductive, and the woman always managed to get so much done in the mornings, while her dorm mates snoozed blissfully unaware. Despite the early hour the sun had already managed to heat up the air considerably, and Addison could tell today was going to be yet another scorcher. The glint of the sun's ray reflecting off the smooth, ripple-less surface of the Great Lake was tantalizingly tempting and Addison eyed the water, debating the pros and cons of an early morning swim before her classes. |
