Why did all the rainbows have to end in a fictional pot of gold? Why couldn't they plant something different in the minds of daydreaming children other than the greedy hopes for stolen loot? From an early age he knew the pot of gold was a lie. This was a fantasy dreamed up by someone who wanted the eyes of children to turn skyward so they would be distracted by the harsh anger of reality. Alexander never fell for such tricks and deceit. He knew better than to hope for riches beyond imagination without repercussions from the kidnapping of little men in green suits and four leaf clovers tucked into their hats. No, all of that nonsense was better wasted on others. He was not past day dreaming on occasion, but he saved his dreams for much better discoveries than gold at the end of an illusion.
One such dream was to be able to fly. Not just on a broom, which he was not entirely hopeless at performing. Alexander wanted to lift his arms, soar into the sky, and actually fly like some mythical bird or some caped muggle hero from coloring books. He wanted to feel the clouds tickle his face, the air land cold on his head, and the water drip from his eyes as he raced through the space over the land like an eagle, or even an old crusty owl. He wanted to zoom from place to place without a care in the world, and no hopes of harm coming to his racing form. Yes, Alexander wanted to fly.
He figured if he put his mind to it, he might figure a way to do exactly that. Perhaps there was a potion one could take to obtain the ability to fly? He was horrible at potions, and only managed to burn his cauldron to rusty innards time after time. He had not been allowed to take an form of advanced potions, and even spotted the potions teacher smiling in the hall when Alexander's name was not on the long form of that year's student list. He could not realistically imagine himself conjuring up some sort of magical liquid that could be ingested to achieve his desired goal. That would not be the way to go, unless he recruited someone else who was good at the class to help him. Alexander knew several people who could do potions, but he was never brave enough to come up with a reason to speak to them about his dream. He was afraid he would sound silly.
Still, he wanted to fly. He wanted to soar. He wanted to touch the sky at night, reach for the stars, and disappear into the dark clouds of midnight. Would such a dream be worth opening his mouth to let someone into his life? Would flying be worth all the trouble he would need to go to in order to make an attempt? And if he failed? A fall could spell the end of him all together. Is it worth it? Alexander thought it was. He thought it might be worth almost anything in order to fly, and fulfill a life long dream. He grinned, turned his eyes from the large window, and peered at the stack of books on the table in front of him.
The library was quiet, and he liked it this way. He spent a good deal of time in this very location, his legs stretched out under him and his hands turning page after page of any given novel. This time the subject was potions, and the art of flying. He found several that could assist in turning his body into that of an animal. It was not exactly the same as his day dream, but it was a start. He pushed one book aside, and marked the page in another. The next tome was pulled toward him as his eyes closed in on the paragraph that had caught his attention. Alexander wanted to fly, and he was going to do whatever it took to make that dream come true.

[/IMG] like a waterfall in slow motion word.count. a lot?!- tags - Alexander?! outfit ------------------------------------------------------------------ Lexi Kenndal Dumeass was perfectly happy with being in the shadows. It was all she had ever known, after all. Lexi had been the middle child, and had grown int a quiet and thoughtful Ravnenclaw. One might think Lexi was bitter, longing and dreaming up a day when she alone gt t shine. But truthfully, Lexi was perfectly content remaining hidden from prying eyes. The shadows in which she hid in gave her a certain shelter. A shelter from all the things that she feared would hurt her. Trust that went all wrong, hope that only turned things worse, fairytale endings that didn't come true. Yes, Lexi was pessimistic, but by those standards she was pretty optimistic. All her views her kept inside, out of fear of judgement.More than anything, Lexi despised being given false hope. All it did was break her a little further, closer t the edge of utter and complete insanity.
Family. They were supposed to stand by each other, no matter what. But over the years Lexi had found that the term 'Family' was indeed a glorified one. Lexi never got along well with her mother, not that she could recall. After Lexi's brother was born a stillborn, the family slowly but surely began t deteriorate. Of course, Lexi was much too small to remember that, but she did remember the effects of the last days of her parents' marriage, and the impression that it had left on her. The final straw had been a huge argument, or more, one huge argument after another. The people that little Lexi, Hannah and Maggie depended upon had neglected them, forgetting to cook meals and such. It was a harsh reality to face,. As years went by Lexi began to depend upon her big sister Hannah, at least until Hannah left them for Hogwarts to basically fend for themselves.
So that, boys and girls, is why Lexi learned not to need other people, to fend for herself as quickly and often as possible. Of course she had friends, none of them closer to her than Ryan Wake and Alexander Maxwell. Lexi preferred boys to hang around. As she grew older she found most girls to become increasingly annoying. Besides, even if she denied it vigorously, there was no mistaking that Lexi was beautiful, and that made her a threat other girls. Not that Lexi cared nor noticed. At seventeen she could barely make it through a sentence without blushing. Being shy as she was, Lexi was used to bottling things up until they ate her alive, and she exploded.
Recently, she had one of these breakdowns and was still trying to shake off the thought of any aftershocks. What it was, Lexi didn't know that had particularly set her off, maybe it was being back in muggle suburbia without her big sister for three months, or maybe it was the simple fact that she couldn't continue on that way. Whatever it was, it made her miserable. For weeks she hardly slept or ate, and was still having problems forcing more than a few bites down. Though weight had rarely ever mattered to her, the loss of five pounds was alarming to say the least. But now she was trying to get back to normal, whatever normal may have been.
That day, Lexi crept into the dark library silently, her robes loosely hanging from her sides. The silence was deafening. It was fantastic. Slowly, trying not to shatter the peace, Lexi walked over to the fiction section. Most of her free time was spent there, for the silence and space. Selecting a random book she headed down the isle, looking for a place to sprawl out until dinner, Lexi came across her best friend. Alex. Both were quiet and shy, so spotting him there was no surprise. Not sure what to say exactly, Lexi lowered herself beside him, staying silent. With a warm smile her soft voice seemed to echo through the section. "Oh, hey... What have you got there?" .

theres a thunder in our hearts baby so much hate for the ones we love TAG: Lexi MUSIC: Paramore ONE LAST THING: Wow, you are good at this!
He did not expect to be taken out of his thoughts, but when he saw who had spoken to him Alexander could not help but offer a small grin. Lexi was one of the people he considered to be a close friend. When she smiled all his worry seemed to vanish away, like the parting of rain clouds on a dreary morning. She had her own problems as of late, and Alexander was well aware of them. See, his friend was in love with one of their Ravenclaw classmates. However, due to a busy schedule he was sure, her boyfriend seemed to not have much time for her lately. The two had talked about it earlier in the week, and went off to look for him. They did not find him, and ended up parting ways with a hug in the Ravenclaw Tower. Alexander felt bad for her, but she seemed to be in a good mood today. He would not mention the previous encounter, and keep the conversation light. As light as air, maybe.
She knew about his dream. He had shared it with her when she questioned him about all the books he had been carrying. In fact, she carried a few of those books for him until they had said goodnight. One of those was sitting in front of him with the page marked by his thin finger. His eyes moved to look at the book but returned to her quickly. She was very pleasant to look at, and Alexander never minded her company. Lexi was a wonderful friend, a good listener, and he was comfortable around her because most the time she was as shy as he could be. He grinned, and showed her the cover of the book. It held a large picture of a boiling cauldron, and some odd ingredients laying around the base of the iron kettle. Obviously, he was holding a potions book that was no longer used as a text. With a shrug he put the book aside and turned in his chair to his friend.
"You know what I am doing, and I think I might have found a couple of interesting prospects. But, someone else will have to boil the potion, I am not as lucky. I will mess it up completely." He watched her eyes and hoped that maybe she would offer to help. He had already hatched a plan in his mind to sneak in and steal some of the ingredients he would require, and then recruit someone to actually make the potion. In exchange, he would assist and give them half of the product to either sell or use themselves. He would do all the research, if they would make the potion. Lexi could do that, he was sure. She already knew his dream of flying, and had promised not to tell a soul. He trusted her. He leaned in closer to her and watched her eyes. It had to be pretty plain to anyone looking that he was not making a statement, he was almost begging with his look to have her join him. Although he was not aware of it, this was the very look that made girls swoon when they saw him. If Alexander was not so shy, and maybe a bit more aware, he could have spent the night with many girls using this look. Sadly, he was not aware, and the most the look had ever gained him was a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Sometimes Alexander could be clueless.

[/IMG] like a waterfall in slow motion word.count. a lot?!- tags - Alexander? ! Notes-nah. This post is crap. XD <3 outfit ------------------------------------------------------------------ Potions and charms had always given Lexi trouble. They were unnecessary and hard, in her opinion. Lexi was a smart girl, but if she didn't like something she wouldn't try to learn it. Charms always bored her, she found them to be for those who couldn't do their basic spells and as soon as sh could drop the class, she did. Maybe it had to do with the fact she didn't care much for the professor added to the fact the class was the only one that single handed pt her to sleep ever other day. She didn't know. Potions, however, she didn't find boring as much as difficult. It was a weakness of hers, and she couldn't help but dislike it. Potions was something she would have liked to be better at, but wasn't. Both her and Alex had always been bad at Potions, almost fatally injuring themselves as well as each other as they years went by. However, to become an Auror or anything else Ministry related that appealed to her, she would need to take potions. Of course, she passed both O.W.L's and N.E.W.T.'s, so she was eligible to sign up once more and she did so reluctantly.
When Alex told her that he wanted to fly, she wasn't entirely surprised. If anyone could do it, it was him. When she asked about what he was reading, he showed her the cover of a book that she faintly recalled from Potions class last year. It had just been lying around, for the seventh year students or something. ""You know what I am doing, and I think I might have found a couple of interesting prospects. But, someone else will have to boil the potion, I am not as lucky. I will mess it up completely." She nodded, knowing he was doing more research. After hearing this though, she hesitated but spoke up anyways. "I'll help with whatever you need, you know that. However, I'm no better at potions than you." She said with a small laugh.
Alex leaned forward and gave her the look she could never refuse. The look that girls would trip over his heels for, and it got her to do whatever it was he would need. Once she even made him a sandwich because of it! With a roll of her eyes she grinned. "Alright. Whatever it is, i'm in." She picked up one of the discarded books with a similar cover that was laying around and flipped through the pages, skimming the words. Flying was his dream and she would help him whenever or however possible. But there was no doubting it would be difficult.
