School. Most people dreaded going back, but not Lexi. It was her seventh and final year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. As a Ravenclaw, she looked forward to learning and being back where she belonged. Every year she couldn't wait to go back from the muggle world. She spent the holidays with her family, and after just a few weeks she was sick of there, and craved the structure and feeling of safety that Hogwarts gave her. But the summer had not gone well for Lexi. After a bad breakup with Rhys Cain Zayden, she was supposed to be happy. She started going out with her Long-time best friend, Ryan Wake. Ryan knew her better than anyone, and being with him made her happy. But after being alone with her dysfunctional family and no word from Ryan and finally a horrible fight with Rhys that left her in desperate tears, she began to go stir crazy.


Nightmares began to plagued her every night. Every time she closed her eyes, flames engulfed her, burned her, and left her charred at the bottom of an endless pit. After losing sleep, her appetite left her as well. Aside from the occasional snack, Lexi could no longer force down food. Two weeks later, Lexi had lost a almost four pounds and dark rings showed under her tired brown eyes. Her already pale skin turned an unhealthy white. She dyed her hair dark brown in attempts to just blend in. Her natural bright blonde hair made her stand out, and Lexi didn't want anybody to question her new appearance. There was no doubting she was miserable. On the train there, she sat quietly in the back, with a few third years.


Lexi was a sweet girl, generally well liked. Mostly she was known for being the shyest girl you've ever met upon first meeting, but once you get to know her, she's sweet as can be and happy. But now, now she was just weak. Her hand-me-down robes hung loosely on her, looser than they had last year. She wanted to talk to people, just not certain people. Particularly, she wanted Ryan, or even Rhys. She wanted her best friends. But they were no where to be found, not that they would be able to recognize her anyways. The Lexi they parted with in June was no where near resemblance to the girl staring Lexi back in the mirror now.


So after her last class on her first day back, she wound up on the first floor instead of heading back to the Ravenclaw common room. Instead of her normal wandering, she just sat on a bench, too tired to get up. As the day progressed and turned to sunset, Lexi used the 'Lumos' spell to light the dark corridor. Usually, Lexi would be pacing and thinking, but today Lexi sat and went numb in the head. This was as close to being asleep as Lexi had been in over two weeks.

Raegan felt jittery and excited and couldn’t wait to go back to school. Most people thought it was weird, but she couldn’t help loving to learn everything she could about magic. She hadn’t grown up to know about anything magical except fairy tails that she thought were just stories. Her parents raised her in the muggle world, both occupying muggle jobs. Her mother owned a bakery where she had worked all summer by cleaning and serving the guests. She loved it, but after a few weeks, it got boring. She did, however, like to meet new people when she was working because it gave her the opportunity to be slightly more outgoing than she usually was when first meeting new people.

Raegan had had one of the best summers of her life. She met new people from Hogwarts that she could now call her friends, and Albert, someone she hoped would soon become more than a friend. She had gone on holiday with her dad in Ireland for a few weeks, and had never had so much fun. Her father let her go to a club where she met a few muggle friends that promised to keep in touch, and she had been sight seeing in Dublin and Raleigh as well as Blarney. It was beautiful.

After arriving at Hogwarts, she had felt even more at home. Summer had felt like it had lasted forever. She had unpacked all of her things after arriving and could barely sleep the night before her first day of classes. When the day was finally over, she had already learned a few more new things along with a review of others. She was so happy to finally be back, but she was sad that it was her final year.

She liked to roam around the halls of Hogwarts sometimes to clear her head of the events of the day so that her mind would be clear for the night when she finally went back to her dorm. Raegan cleared her throat and after her mind was clear of anything but what she hoped would be a wonderful day, she headed back to her common room from where she had ended up, which was the first floor. There were a few straglers roaming the halls, and she kept her head down when she passed them. She saw one familiar, yet haggard looking girl with her wand lit up. She looked over at her as she passed the girl and bit her lip. She didn’t look too well, so Raegan slowed to a stop. “Are you alright?”

Lexi was drifting off, and on endless loop was a horrifying vision. Flames, all around her. Growing, and Lexi sat in the center of it all wondering what on earth was happening. Her senses grew dimmer, vision blurring and hearing going distant. But it didn't really matter anyways. Nothing to hear, except from the occasional pop of the fire, or just the sound of burning. Usually at this point, Lexi began to thrash and scream, but this time she didn't. Instead, she sat up, alert. She felt warm all over, a fuzzy feeling in the back of her head. And then, she woke up.

When she came back to consciousness, she did so with a surprised gasp. Slowly, her vision came back to her. As her eyes came into focus, the memory of the dream was gradually fading away. Although she knew it was there, ready to haunt her again as soon as she closed her eyes again. Her wand that glowed so brightly was still in her hands. She extinguished the light and sat up a bit straighter. Hovering above her was a girl, Lexi's age and year. Reagan, her name was, as Lexi recalled. The girl had white blonde hair, much like Lexi's had once been, and Lexi glanced at it with a twinge of wistfulness.

"Are you alright?" Reagan asked her, looking concerned and chewing on her lip. For a moment, Lexi had forgotten how horrid she must look, with her mud brown hair and loose robes. In order to make herself look like she hadn't been hit by a bus, Lex tucked a thick lock of her dark hair behind her ear and sat up. "Yes of course, i just dozed off..." Lexi told Reagan with a reassuring grin that was all fake. Even in the darkest times, Lexi learned she wasn't to bother anyone with her problems. "I'm sure i look horrible," Lexi spoke with a hollow laugh, her voice sounding tired and slow. "So how are you?" Hopefully Lexi could at least brighten Reagan's day, even if she could not brighten her own.

Raegan thought she noticed something wrong with Lexi, but when her face brightened up, she looked like a completely different person. She looked happy and not depressed like she had just a mere second ago. Raegan’s eyes opened wide for a second at the surprisingly quick way she changed emotion, and then returned to normal so that she didn’t looks odd to her. Lexi asked how she was. Raegan sat next to her on the bench and brought her knees to her chest and wrapped her arms around them. “I’m doing well; just a little tired at the moment is all.”

Raegan had had one of the best summers. She worked in her mum’s shop and met a few new muggle friends, and also met Albert. He was… She couldn’t explain how she really felt for him, she just knew that she liked him a lot. They agreed that he would take her to Paris so she could explore its beauty. He wanted to show her the Eiffle Tower and what “The City of Love” was like because she had always wanted to go. Raegan told him about her family’s lack of money, and surprisingly, he didn’t care. Other people that she had talked to before didn’t like the fact that she had to work for a living. And they especially didn’t like the fact that she spent so much time in the muggle world. Albert seemed intruiged by it though, which made her feel a little better. “How was your summer?”[/b] she asked thinking of her own. [/blockquote][/size]
