At first Nataliya had blamed the lockdown for her restlessness but a month passed, and then another and she came to the realization that it wasn't the lockdown that had made her restless; it was her life. Since the incident, as she called it, Nataliya had only kept forcing people away, pushing and pushing until their was nothing left for her to push at. At first this had suited her just fine. She liked her solitude, hated dealing with nosy people and their probing questions, or even worse their judgmental glances blantant pity. No thank you, Nataliya did not need that in life. Admittedly, only having Carina around did get redundant, and if Nat was being one hundred percent truthful with herself, she was lonely. Not even lonely in that 'I need someone to hold me at night, and tell me I'm pretty' way, no she certainly didn't want that.
Nataliya just wanted someone to talk to everyone in a while, other then Rina. It was just so bloody hard, it had been such a long since Nataliya had even considered opening up to another person again, she didn't really know where to start. Even with the best intentions it was impossible to drop the bitterness that laced itself into her voice and the shield that melded around her mind, locking away and guarding her thoughts. Sighing and shaking her head at herself Nataliya leaned in towards the window in front of her, exhaling a warm breath on the glass and forming a round spot of condensation.
Nataliya had started the day with the goal of maybe finding someone new to talk to, but within a few minutes of her task she had realized it's hopelessness and instead wandered about the castle for an hour or so, aimlessly following what path the moving stairs took her until she ended up in the fifth floor. Productive, to say the least. Either way, the corridor was deserted and appreciating the quiet Nataliya had settled herself on one of the many oversized window sills that filled the massive castle. Perched in close to the glass pane, with one foot tucked neatly underneath her and the other leg drawn up to her chest Nataliya had lost track of how much time had passed. Her musings were enough to distracted her and her thoughts flickered through the past events like a movie reel on the rewind. The past year when by relative quickly; her brief and nonevent of a relationship with Cole, various memories of Rina pulling her into some sort of trouble and then her mental track seemed to slow again, bring forth grizzly reminders of that night. She could see his face, blurry and dark in the poorly lit dungeon corridor, remember the rough stone against her back as he pushed her up into it. It was too much, an overload of thoughts she had been repressing for months and Nataliya hurriedly pulled back from them, the last image she allowed herself to remember the look on her sister's face.
Anya...Nataliya had seen her sister around the school but they had spoken a word since they had returned for term. Even the summer had been tense, forced into interaction with one another that cease the moment their parent's turned their backs. It didn't matter, Nataliya was better off without her. A part of her still hoped that her twin would come to her sense but she wasn't holding her breath by any means.
Scowling at the glass, her mood ruined by her involuntary trip down memory lane Nataliya lifted a hand, dragging her finger through the little cloud on condensation on the glass. The surface of the window squeaked under her finger as Nataliya traced a loose, random pattern over and over.
