»If today was your L A S T day,Tomorrow was too late « Angie walked into the Christmas ball quite alone. She hadn't been out in too long... She hadn't even attended her classes! Most of Angie's time recently was at home or locked in her dorm. So much was going on at home, and at one of the most critical times, she couldn't get back. She had been there for weeks, and than had to return to Hogwarts. But now things were worstening and where was she? Hogwarts. Not home. This ball was purely her father's idea to get her mind off of things. As if the ball would really do that... But it was always possible that she could meet someone there. Or maybe bump into a school friend. That would be nice. She needed some sort of company. Angie had been so isolated... Now she was out though, and determined to make the best of it. She looked around for a familiar face, but none turned up. At least not at the moment. The last person Angie had seen and actually talked to was Kat in the common room. Ever since, she hadn't spoken to anyone. Maybe things would chane tonight, turn around a bit in her favor. A new friend, a new face. That would be great. Although, at this point, Angie didn't care if it was anyone she knew or not. She just wanted company so she wouldn't be so alone. I'll just go sit down for now and people watch... It's not like I have anything better to do. Thought Angie. She seriously considered setting off a dungbomb in the middle of the room just to see what would happen. But that might not be the best idea. She could get trampled that way. That would be a bad backfire. As Angie sat down, she looked around again. Still no one. Hopefully someone would eventually show their face.

Jakob strolled into the location of the Christmas Ball a little boredly; stag, as usual. He didn't really mind. The garlands and festive decorations hung about everywhere were pretty to look at, but having come without a date, the even nicer looking girls he would be feasting his eyes on and have the opportunity to court for the evening were no doubt going to interest him much more. So yeah, he was riding solo. Bonus for him ! The room was relatively empty, the only sounds the tinkling of soft Christmas tunes rising from the back. Jingle Bell Rock, or something of the like. Jake didn't know. He wasn't well learned in things Muggle--and of course he certainly didn't mind. Seeing a seated fellow Slytherin, a girl from his year, he approached her, not waiting to be asked to sit. "Hey," he greeted, elbows on the tabletop before them, glancing over their surroundings briefly. "They really went all out, didn't they?" He grinned at her; though he recognized that he was in the same year as her, he couldn't say they each other very well, just that he was aware of what was her name. He was, after all, a busy guy. "But then again, when do they not, right? So how's it going, Angie?" He looked her over briefly, the silky dress she'd chosen to wear to the event that fit her perfectly. What an attractive creature.

»If today was your L A S T day,Tomorrow was too late « Angie was still looking around when someone sat down in front of her. It was a boy in her year and house, someone she only knew by name but saw him around the school a lot. "Hey. They really went all out didn't they?" Angie smiled and nodded. It was true, they did. In her own opinion, they did it just right. Not overdone, not underdone. It was supposed to be a party for the entire magical community right? Of course they should make it nice. "But then again, when do they not, right? So how's it going, Angie?" Angie smiled again at the fact that he knew her name. Maybe she was a little more known to the school than she thought. Not a total nobody. "It's... going." She laughed a bit at herself. "Things have just been kinda confusing for me lately, and now I have to get back to school and catch up on my work. Which I probably won't even bother doing... What's going on with you Jakob?" Angie wondered to herself whether he would be as surprised that she knew his name as she was. She grabbed a cup of pumpkin juice and took a quick sip, than put it back. Maybe she could get a real drink tonight. She needed one. But it was nice at least to know that now she had company and wasn't all alone. At this moment, Angie looked at Jakob and took in his entire appearance for once. He was actually quite handsome, especially tonight.

The scenery of the ball was beautiful; that couldn't be denied. And why should it? The hardworkers who had produced the magical effect of dazzling everyone who entered the room with their Christmassy decorating skills deserved to be recognized for their talents. At the same time, however, Jakob couldn't say he gave the adornments more than a good second glance. Holiday baubles and mistletoe were all well and nice, it was true. But with his characteristic negativity, it was nearly impossible for the Slytherin's pessimistic heart to be wowed as easily as could many others. Jakob nodded a little at her words. They sounded like she meant them. Why sugarcoat, right? "Could be worse," he acknowledged. He listed attentively as she spoke, though not making eye contact until she the last part, where she proved that she knew his name. Jakob blinked, but the surprise was short lived. They were in the same year and House, after all. "Ah, confusion?" He couldn't help a frown. "About what? I hate that. Sorry, honey." Then as she continued, Jake laughed. "Sounds like a plan," he told her. "Me? Well, nothing much, honestly. Struggling with some confusion, myself, as much as I wish it were the opposite." He frowned again for a second, when he thought about Kayla, and about the questions he had no idea the answer to when he asked himself whether feeling... whatever it was that he had began to, for a Hufflepuff no less, went against the morals he was raised to believe. He was still in denial about his emotions, also; which was even more befuddling. Then he smiled, pushing such ponderings to the back of his mind, not to be focused on tonight. "Procastination, I guess we have that in common. Maybe we can hang out and not do schoolwork together, sometime !"((Luvv you toooo !))

»If today was your L A S T day,Tomorrow was too late « Angie smiled when he called her honey. It had been a while since anyone had called her any sort of name besides her own, and it felt good. Like they were a bit closer now. She did need a friend, and Jakob wouldn't be so bad in the prospect. He seemed decent enough. He came over here and talked to her, didn't he? That counted for some goal points. Goal points... That brought her thoughts to Quidditch. Life was a lot like quidditch, wasn't it? With the chasers, you fly around trying to catch a ball, and not drop it, and get it in the hoop. Sometimes it goes in, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes someone or something blocks it path. With the beaters, they keep the bludgers that could hurt them away. You can easily get hit, but there are people watching your back, just as you watch your own and others as well. Your a team. And then the seeker. The seeker went after the prize, the one that would most likely help to win the game. And just like life, there are two people competing for that prize. Sometimes in life theres more than two, though. But they are all after the same golden ball that will bring them through to absolute victory. All life is a game. A game of choices, luck, and experience. "...Maybe we can hang out and not do schoolwork together sometime." Angie lifted her head a bit and looked into his eyes. He really meant that. He wasn't just saying it. How sweet... Especially for a slytherin boy. And she automatically knew what her answer would be. "Yeah. That sounds really good." She smiled a bit wider. She didn't want to seem too anxious, but she was happy. It seemed like Angie was making a friend. And that was what she truly needed at the moment. "So what exactly brings you here?"

((well dawl, you aree !)) Jakob caught Angie's smile, and his eyebrows raised. Had it been because of him? Making others happy was unusual for the bloke. Many even ran from him in terror. However, especially since his fellow Slytherin seemed to be such a nice girl, he wasn't necessarily against it. Just not accustomed. Huh. After all; Jake had been born and raised a nasty son of a bitch. Those he cared about he would do anything for, but that didn't mean he went out of his way to make them feel particularly special. Angie's smile was contagious though, apparently, because soon he felt his face splitting in one of his own. "Oh, you flatter me," he teased, aiming a wink her way. "Just wait 'til you see me dancing; then you can use those words."The answer to the question was pretty simple. "I wouldn't miss a party--especially one filled with gorgeous creatures scantily clothed--for the life of me. Not that complicated." Really, it wasn't. "Why, what brought yourself? Same reason, eh?" This with a little smirk at the extra meaning in his voice.

»If today was your L A S T day,Tomorrow was too late « Angie giggled slightly when Jakob raised his eyebrows at her. What did she do? Just because she smiled at him? Maybe it wasn't something he was used to. She cocked her head to the slide slightly, as he said something about seeing him dance. Dance? Well at least one of them could. Angie was terrible. She was one of the biggest klutzes. She just tripped over her own two feet, and was too stiff and spastic to even move gracefully, or even rhythmically. Angie looked around and the party, which seemed to be getting a bit more lively. That was nice. A slight change in the venue. And Angie wanted nothing but to do something cruel to make all these people scream and run. That would make her feel so much better. That was the slytherin in her coming out. Her attention went back to Jakob as he said how he wouldn't miss the party, especially with all the girls all dressed up. She laughed at this. What a typical boy response... Angie wondered to herself how he thought she looked. She wouldn't be bold enough to ask, but she still wondered. He finished with another question. The same reason? Ha! That was cute. "Oh yes, I came for all the girls here." Angie laughed and continued with: "I came here mostly to just get away from all the drama just for a little while, and try to have fun. I haven't had a good time in a while. And if this party dies down again, and it sucks, I am so out of here." She laughed again. Although there was plenty of truth to those words. Angie would leave if the party started to suck. Then there was no point of staying, and she could just apparate to a better night club or something and have some good fun. Maybe even dirty and good. But she wouldn't think of that just yet. She would decide to leave only if she had to, and maybe if Jakob would come. Angie would feel bad to have provided company for a little while, and than ditched. That wouldn't be very nice, not that she usually cared. But they were enjoying each other at the moment. Why ruin that?

Jakob smirked a little at her response; knowingly. "Good guess, eh?" He'd always been proud of his cleverness. Really, in general, Jakob was just a proud guy. The party looked like it could be a fun one, should other people arrive and the music really start playing. But it wasn't, and the Slytherin couldn't deny that this was rather a turn off. There was literally no one on the dance floor. It just wasn't right! Looked like he, Jakob Marquis Drake, was going to have to start things off properly, like always. He sighed, as if doing so was a labour, although honestly he couldn't deny that this duty gave him a sense of gladness. "I feel ya," he told Angie. "I'm not really one for lame bashes, either. How 'bout, if this thing doesn't get any better, we ditch? You're the only one worth talking to here--not that many people so far have been started attending--so I don't want you abandonning me, all right?" He chuckled, then stood up and offered his fellow House mate his hand. Growing cheesy, but that was okay, because he, of all people, could pull cheesy off. "Care to dance, pretty girl? Let's show them how Slytherins rock the shit, and do it right."((sorry it's short!))

»If today was your L A S T day,Tomorrow was too late « Angie liked Jakob's attitude, and at the moment, he was just the right person for her to talk to. He said she was the only one worth talking to here. Angie couldn't help but blush and smile when he said this. She wasn't too used to this type of flattery. It wasn't an everyday occurrence for her, like most other girls she knew. Angie always tried not to let it bother her. But here was a guy right in front of her, in her own house, making her feel good about herself. It made her glad she had come there in the first place. And to make things even better, Jakob had gotten up and asked her to dance. She looked up at him, smiled, took his hand, and stood. "Let's do it." She said and walked out onto the dance floor with him. Total confidence filled her as she readied herself. If there was one thing Angie was good at besides mischeif, it was dancing. And she could do it in heels. That counted for a lot. Angie looked at Jakob, and began to let him lead and followed as he did.

Jakob led Angie onto the dance floor, ready to own it. Hey, there was nobody else (nobody special, anyway) around ! The boy had the capability of owning most things. Now he wanted to see if Angie had this skill, too. "I believe we all ready are," he drawled in reply, spinning her so that her black dress floated around her. He chuckled, the sound deep in his chest, leaning in to whisper, "No turning back now," like he was some sort of serial killer and she had just stepped into his lair. A bit creepily. Meh, he was a Slytherin. T'was in his --irrevocably pure-- blood. While saying this though, he did spin her, the opposite way he had before. How was that for mixed messages?

»If today was your L A S T day,Tomorrow was too late « Angie giggled as Jakob spun her around one way, and than the other. It had been a while since she danced with someone. Especially someone her own age. The last dance she had was with her uncle and that wasn't very comfortable... Angie's smile was definetly plastered to her face at this point, and she moved gracefully in her heels. She spun into Jakob's arms, and put her other hand in his. "Not bad." She said with a wink. Yes, she was flirting. And it felt good. She kept herself out of the playing field for too long. Angie knew it was time to put herself back out there and have some fun. And what a perfect time to do it, with such an appropriate person. But than Angie had to wonder... Was this right? She didn't know if Jakob had a girlfriend. If he did, she shouldn't be flirting with him. But her the slytherin blood in her veins didn't care. Not at all. Even if he did have a girlfriend, what's a little harmless flirting? And he was doing it back. So she had nothing to worry about. Although she was still quite curious... Angie wondered to herself if she had the balls to really ask Jakob of his relationship status. Why not? He's dancing with you, flirting, having a good time. Throw in the question randomly. But Angie wanted to wait for the right time. Not right now. If it possibly ruined the moment for whatever reason, she wasn't willing to risk that. She would wait until the perfect time, and than fire the question. Angie had to prove to herself now that she had the guts to do it. If she didn't, she would have to do some serious attitude adjustment on herself... Just to fix up the little chinks in her oversized armor.

((studying too hard ! )) Jake hummed a little under his breath as he spun Angie around. Really, this wasn't cool; it had been a long time since the start of the party, and the thing wasn't even packed yet, the elevator (yes, despite his pureblood status, Jake knew what an elevator was) like tinkling of Christmas tunes. He huffed a little, annoyed, then caught Angie's eye and winked right back at her so she would know he wasn't making faces about her. "They call this music?" He mocked, though the question had been posed rhetorically. One could waltz and prance around to this kind of music, but not truly get wild. And wasn't that what parties and dances were really all about? Nonetheless, the Slytherin definitely couldn't say he wasn't enjoying himself. It was too bad more people weren't present, and though he didn't know why or even really care about the answer Jakob wondered what Kayla was doing at the moment, but all the same he was at the moment content leading his new friend around in graceful yet provocative circles, having fun making her smile. Jake dipped Angie, supporting her weight in his arms as he lowered her upper body toward the floor, her back to it. As he shifted so that he was bringing her back up he caught her eye again and grinned lasciviously, eyes twinkling teasingly. "Not bad yourself, my amateur dear." This all in good fun, though it was true that Jakob had possessed the knowledge on how to well dance for a long time now. As a house elf carrying drinks passed by, the seventh year quickly stopped their motion to catch the little thing's tiny shoulder to halt it, then grasping two glasses of Butterbeer from the tray the creature was carrying around. "Here you go," he handed one to Angie. "Too bad it's not Firewhiskey, am I right? So unfortunate we're not allowed to leave the school anymore," he sighed. Clinking his glass against hers with a mumbled, "Cheers," it was at that moment that Jakob realized he hadn't asked Angie what she thought of Hogwarts' current school lockdown. Giving her one last black dress swirling twirl, he started walking back to their table, Angie no doubt right behind him, intending to ask just that.
