Her eyes locked on the tiny black box. He waited the long moments before she spoke again. And he fought his internal war to stay away. It had to be like this. He knew it. She had to accept it. But oh did he hate himself for it. This was not pleasant. It had to be one of the worse days of his life. Her quiet, soft words expressed what he himself wished as well. If he had known, would he had done things different and not known love? He didn't know. All he did know was that he would treasure what bit of happiness he had had with her for the rest of his life. And hope that she would heal fast. Trevent would work as hard as possible on Ana's and his future and pray that he would be over it soon. He doubted it.
Trevent was confused as Petra stood. Battlefield bounced around his head and struggled to figure out what she meant. The battle they were in now, of words? He watched as she tidied herself up, brushing her clothes into place, and tears from her face. Then, teeth on edge, he stood his ground as she moved in front of him. He felt sucker punched in the gut. Her words more poisonous than he had ever thought before. Death Eaters?!?! He flinched away from her as she kissed him. Trevent wanted no goodbye kiss. He felt ill and now slightly dirty. How was this the girl he had known for years, that he had loved? His head was pounding. And he had to take a deep breath to hold steady. All he could do was nod.
He shook off her hand from his face and stepped back. In fact, he kept moving back until his back was against the wall. Ana's ring lay forgotten on the floor behind Petra in his horror. His mind could barely grasp it. But he had known. Deep down, he had always known it about Petra. It was the endless cycle of his life. Everyone in his life, except Rose, was leaning towards the Dark Arts. He had to wonder if it was inherit to him. If he really was Dark due the blood coursing through his veins. He didn't think so. Trevent hated pain and violence and even that pureblood supremacy shit. And here was the girl that had been his best friend for years embracing it. He felt betrayed.
Trevent just stood back, still watching as she turned to leave. Bile in the back of his mouth, it's foul taste lingered. Her catty parting shot a bit much for the situation. Even if he did possibly get tired of Ana, he wouldn't be able to go back to Petra. Even, she was the enemy and they would never be able to be together. It was sad but a fact of life. He just wanted to run deeper into the dungeons and be safe in the kitchen. But he waited, he did not want to turn his back to her. And he still had to retrieve the ring. She seemed to pause then she turned and looked back at him. Apparently, Petra was waiting to hear what he had to say. He swallowed.
"I'm sorry you chose that way. And I don't look forward to that day. But, there's no going back. You've lost me, even as a friend now. I hope you understand, and I hope that one day you realize the wrongness of your choice. I loved you." He sighed realizing that he had used 'loved'. He couldn't love her anymore. His heart was shattered and scattered on the ground. He never realized when he planned to break them so thoroughly that she would be the one to achieve it. His wand slipped into his hand and he accio'ed the ring to him. His eyes avoiding her.

Petra turn around and didn’t look at Trevent. She knew her words hit him hard but it didn’t matter. She didn’t have to feel guilty anymore and she didn’t have to worry about Jack killing her because she wasn’t loyal to her family. She was relived and somewhat sad that they being friends weren’t going to be an option for them anymore. She was still heart broken since she love Trevent for nearly all her the years she been at Hogwarts but she had to stop. She couldn’t hold on anymore and she wouldn’t. Trevent did deserve someone better then her.
“please don’t talk to me like I’m a five year old, Trevent. I knew what path I choose wasn’t going to be the one that was going to be right. That night when my parents died and when I look into the guy’s cold eyes. I only thought one thing and that was I was going to kill him and make him suffer. Though when I met you I put my revenge on hold but getting adopted by Jack made me remember why I wanted to be strong. And that was to kill my parent's murderer.” She had her back to him and was staring at the wall in front of her. “and besides my path had already been set for me when I got adopted by Jack just like your path was set when you were born into your family but mine is more complicated then your destiny or what ever you wish to call it. I lose a lot more then you do. I don’t get to disregard my family’s loyalty for the Dark Lord and ashamed them. I was adopted by a father that your family knows as the Dark Prince. I can’t just do what you did… with me I’ll get punished and my punishment would have cost me my life. ” She put a smirk on her face.
I loved you
She laughed at the word love not in bitterness but amusement. “Don’t say lies Trevent. I know I disgust you though I wish it never came down to this and one day you would have found out about me. So I rather you hear it from me then hearing it from someone else.” She said. ‘but not being friends for being a DE member is somewhat stupid. You a DE member by blood and though you think you can run away from it, you can’t.. But the I don’t regret what choose I made and I never will and though it’s wrong in your eyes. If we did found a way to be together I would believe I will always do things wrong in your eyes since I’m me and you are you.” She said playing with her end of her t-shirt. “You the good one Trevent and though it pains me to see you with another girl you deserve someone better and someone who wouldn’t be wrong in your eyes. I never would have been able to live up to your standards since I’m end to deep. ”
She never was good or innocent. She just liked people believing she was since she didn’t want to live up to the slytherin standards. She wanted to be her own person and that meant being something she wasn’t. She already her path set for her when her parents died and that was something she didn’t want. She tried to get out of it but dieing wasn’t what she wanted at the moment. Trevent would never understand what she was going to go through if she went against Jack. She will be killed in a second and since she wasn’t as strong as him yet she stand no chance. She knew what battles to pick and fighting Jack wasn’t a battle she needed to fight, not yet that is.
If someone would have told her ten year old self that she would need up a DE member. She would have laugh in they face and tell them that she wanted to be someone who protect people from them. She was so naïve and innocent back then. She wished that she could be her ten year self then she wouldn’t have to deal with any of this. If her parent wouldn’t have died she would have never been adopted by Jack though she did love Jack as her father. He took good care of her and become her family.
She heard him use a spell to call his box back and smiled lightly. “Marry Ana, Trevent. She’s a good girl and she wouldn’t ashamed you like how I would have. She’s what you always wanted… and I realize that I was never supposed to love you or befriend you when I first met you.” She said.

It flashed through his head that Petra might be under Imperius. But he dismissed it. Neither did he believe she had multiple personalities. No, finally Trevent was seeing for himself the true Petra Riddle. There was no longer any trace really of the Petra Connor he had known and loved. Jack had corrupted her. Sadly he realized that Petra and him were broken beyond repair. Friendship was even out of their reach now. He would mourn her as was right. For she was truly dead to him.
He played with the little box as was his habit. Her words were not reaching him really. It was like he was floating in space. Distant to everything and only taking in some of the words. The source of his family's conflict triggered memories that distracted him. He had been punish many times for stating his beliefs. But he would continue to support them, to vocalize them. No matter how many scars he realized, he would. That was the Gryffindor courage. His quiet battle with standing up for his beliefs. They couldn't touch him now, not when he was of age. But there was still Ana to fear for. He hoped that she just kept her mouth shut on her beliefs. He couldn't stand to see her harmed. Not due to his stubbornness. Besides, he was facing being disinherited as it was.
It just didn't matter. What his family stood for was wrong. What his famous ancestress was remembered for was wrong. It was all wrong and he would be on the side of righteousness and help fix the issues that plagued his world. He hoped that Petra would see this. But all she seemed to see was her own danger. He felt scorn along with his disgust. And realized that she was right. Trevent would always see her as flawed now. Always have that lingering mistrust. They couldn't work, even as friends. A pain gripped the heart that he thought was already numb. This was the end. The kill. And though they didn't live in a black and white world, in the grey that made it up, Trevent was the good guy and Petra the bad.
He let off a bitter chuckle as she finished her monologue. She was right; Ana was the girl that Trevent had always wanted. At least in outer appearance. Plus she was perfect for his family. Or had been groomed to be. He wasn't exactly sure how long Ana and he had been pledged. And the family wasn't sure even if anyone who wasn't pureblood at least 5 generations back could withstand the traditional marriage ceremonies. Petra was not pure enough. And he had known it all along too. He could never marry her. It might have killed her. But regardless, he was going to marry Ana. There was no way to get out of that one. He was just going to accept it and hope for a blissful marriage.
"You realize that I planned to do that anyway?" Maybe it was cruel to stab it home again. But he didn't really care. No this was goodbye and he was going to end it. Now. Even if it meant he was looking like a coward and running away. "Goodbye Petra. I will try to remember you as you used to be. Not as the rotten apple you have become." Then, he turned on heel and walked away. He walked towards his haven and hoped to maybe see Ana this night. That would brighten it up. But his hand was still on his wand, just in case. No never knew with the enemy. And Petra was his enemy, now.

Petra looked back. "You still think I will hurt you?" She said with amusement. "You really are a funny guy." She said laughing. "Well good for you, Trevent. Have fun with your little happy life." She said turning back. "and Trevent. I'm not so rotten. I still have feelings and morals." She said with a smirk playing on her lips. "and you’re just to clouded with the thought of you being so good in not being a DE member. So what if i'm one. I didn't want to die and is it that wrong…wanting to live?" She ask. “no one would have been able to protect me even I wanted out.” She said walking again.
She was done with trying to make Trevent understand. She still wanted to be friends with him but he was being too stubborn with his beliefs. She just want to go in to sleep now.
(its short I know..its like 140 words but I think you last post should end this thread.)
