Work, work, work. That is all Mia ever did was work. Did she ever take a break? The answer to that question is no. Mia saw breaks as productive time wasted. She saw every moment as a chance to further herself in the world and make sure she had a bright and successful future. She had only been with the Daily Prophet for two months now and already she had been promoted from and intern to a current events journalist, replacing someone who had been with the paper for fifteen years. That was exactly how good she was at what she did.
Mia sat in her office at the Daily Prophet, going over a few articles that were taken to her to proof read. More and more people were starting to take their stuff to her instead of the editor because she was a better proof reader. Putting down the quill and parchment, the eighteen year old stood up from her chair and walked over to the window. Somewhere out there, there was a story waiting to be revealed. She needed to uncover it, whatever it was. She needed to have an article in by Thursday of that week and it was already Monday. She really needed to get on the roll with this and fast.
The brunette let her writer instincts guide her from her desk and towards the door where she grabbed her multicolored purse before apparating. When she opened her eyes she found herself standing in the atrium of The Ministry Of Magic. There must have been some story here waiting to be uncovered. Her writing instincts never let her down before. Smirking, Mia walked down the cold, crowded hall to the security desk where she gave her information and received a visitors pass. She continued her journey to a quiet little sitting place in the Atrium, away from the crowds.
There were only three other wizards among the twenty seven tables placed along the wall. Mia chose a table away from the rest where she could see the crowds sixty feet away walk past. Where was this story that she was looking for? It had to be here somewhere. Mia reached into her bag and pulled out her trusty notebook and quill. She opened the book up to a clean sheet of parchment and dipped her quill in the matching bottle of ink. Then, grabbing her wand, she bewitched the quill so that it would write on its own as she thought. This bewitching spell for a quill was much more reliable than those ruddy Kwikspell quills that often made so many mistakes. Now all Mia had to do was sit there and wait for her latest story to unfold, if it ever did.

There was always time for a little stroll around the streets he lived on, but in time, the streets became tame and familiar, and they had no magic to it anymore. He remembered the first time he'd come to this street, it was another universe and he preferred it like that, to experience the unusual and different. It was scary, sure, but that's what life was about. It seemed nothing phased him not one bit. It was a trait he was often envied for, he always had a smile on his face and wold never fail to get one on anybody Else's, no matter how stubborn they might be. Gabriel Rainey had talent.
The young man hadn't made much of a life for himself. With his mother dead and his father abandoning him, Gabriel hadn't much choice but to start life alone. His uncle had helped him out at first, but being as eccentric and down right odd as Gabriel was, his uncle had given up as well, and that was another family member disowning Gabriel completely. So, jobless and homeless, Gabriel went out in search of a friend or a job, ending up with the one he wanted most, a friend. The lord was smiling upon him that day, as this friendship didn't need a lot of work, Gabriel had known him from school. They were partners in crime, amigos 'till the end. Gabriel ended up with a bed to lie in that night, and he was picking up from there.
There was another friend he'd stumbled upon during his time solitary. It was a nice and fair day, and he was taking a leisurely stroll through his new and exciting street, which was proving to be worthy when his eyes clapped on such a beauty he had to compose himself on numerous occasions, but Gabriel had always been fond of Mia McLaggen. Always. But he knew she had no faith or belief in love, and so he dared not to try anything, though it was hurting him. The time they'd spent catching up and causing havoc, it had certainly paid off for the many times Gabriel was forced to sit on the streets until morning, freezing and without a friend in the world. He was a lucky boy for once, but did he ever complain? No. He continued to see Mia frequently, and she was proving to be rather helpful as well, setting up an interview for him to perhaps get a job. Unfortunately, he'd forgotten all about his interview; he'd spent his day looking for four-leaf clovers. Three he'd found, and two he'd given to those he cared about the most. Andrew and Mia, the third sat in his shirt pocket. A small piece of luck to go with him everywhere he went.
Still jobless, and still strolling around the streets circling his home, Gabriel was out in search for somebody. The time he and Mia had spent apart wasn't what he was expecting, but she had a life and a nob, he had to respect that. So surely a small visit would be okay. Gabriel stopped and thought. Wondered if she ever thought of him when he wasn't with her, like what he did all the time. Wondered if he should go and find her and make her smile, and laugh and love. Gabriel had loved her for a long time, and had expected nothing at all in return, except for some faith. He knew and accepted that she had issues trusting people, but it was just enough to see her smile at his appearance. And hopefully, that's what would happen when he apparated and ended up in the Atrium of the Ministry of Magic. With a raised eyebrow, Gabriel looked left to right and saw he was surrounded by a crowd of busy workers heading to their destinations. But there in the distance was a girl sitting alone at a table. Gabriel stepped out of the sea of people and waited for her eyes to touch him. He smiled.

The smart girl. That is all she was to this world was the smart girl. Those three words described Mia like a book would describe its story inside. Mia was always found with a book in her hand, studying like a maniac or just for fun. Knowledge was her best friend. She needed to cram knowledge into her head, without it, she felt alone and empty. She was scared to let people know the real her so that is why she hid behind all the knowledge and facts.
Mia wasn't really what you would call popular. She only had a few close friends here and there and that was about it. She didn't mind it though. She knew that friends caused drama. She would sit down and watch around as the people around her would be caught up in all sorts of problems. Mia was too smart to be involved in any of them. She would rather just sit back and study.
The brunette never really had any boyfriends nor did she have any hookups. To herself, she was not that attractive. She felt as though she was awkward and not what guys her age were looking for. She didn't mind though, it was not the type of thing she wanted to get into during her schooling. She just wanted to focus on her work and that would be it. There was lots of time to find love. After all, she was still only young.
As she sat at the table, looking for a story, she couldn't help but get the odd feeling that someone was watching her. Call it her writer instincts or something like that. Ever so paranoid, Mia began to look at the people more carefully, before finally locking eyes with the person who was looking at her. As she took the man in a small smile crept onto her lips. There stood Gabriel Rainey. Having spent the day with him in the past, Mia had grown to like this man as a friend. He had remembered her from her Hogwarts days and he was very kind and quite funny. It could be said that he was the opposite of herself but she didn't mind it. It was quite refreshing to have someone who was not negative around her. It also helped that he was rather good looking, but she would never admit that.
Giving him a small wave, Mia gathered her stuff and walked over to him. Though she adored her alone time, it might be nice for her to have some company for once. "Don't you know it's rude to stare at people, especially in that creepy stalker way you were just looking at me," Mia said to him with a grin as she arrived before him. She shoved her notebook into her bag, knowing that there was no hope of her finding a story today.
"So what brings you here, Mr. Rainey?" Mia asked with a small smile, looking up at him seeing as she was rather short and he was rather tall. She moved the hair out of her face, revealing the bright blue eyes that looked up at Gabriel. "Have you come to tell me you got the job at the Daily Prophet?" She asked again with a grin. She had gone out of her way to approach the photography section of the Daily Prophet to ask them to give Gabriel a job interview. He had previously told Mia that he was struggling with money and was unemployed. She hated to see him struggle like this so she had offered to help him out. That and she kind of wanted to spend more time with him but again, she would never admit that to any human being.
