Peyton wasn't sure if she really wanted to know if someone else could read her mind. She knew how others felt with just the thought that she could read theirs, and she figured she would feel the same, but relieve swept over her when he said he couldn't. Letting out the breath she hadn't be aware she was holding she smiled weakly. "Thats good," she said not wanting to get into why it was. She was sure he wouldn't appreciate how great he smelled to her, or know that her mind was thinking about how could his blood must taste.
Peyton listened intently as he spoke and told her the story. She realized that once more she was holding her breath. Then she thought about her sister, it wasn't her fault at all and she couldn't say it was in anyway but she always felt that if only her sister had known there was a way to live, if Peyton had done her research sooner, then her sister could still be alive. "Thats not really your fault exactly," she said unsure of what to say next. "I uhm I had a twin," she found herself saying before she could stop herself.
Peyton really didn't talk about her sister. Not even to Dom. She just couldn't she hated talking about, what with their birthday and her sister's death day so close. She had died on their birthday from cancer. Peyton could count on her fingers how many times she had ever spoke about her. It was weird for her to be bringing it up now and she didn't trust herself to not cry, but she had to try to hold in, she didn't cry like most, she cried tears of blood.

"Thats not really your fault exactly," "If I had been kinder she'd have stayed and wouldn't be dead!" He whispered through tears. "And did she die thinking I hated her?" "I uhm I had a twin," "Really?" He used his psychic senses. "Something horrible happen?" His voice returned to being soft. Then he laughed a silky laugh. "I didn't read your thoughts." He said quickly. "A Psychic is someone who can read auras. I read yours and it's upset about something." He smiled at her kindly. "You don't ave to tell me. I don't want you to cry."

Peyton listened. He really felt like it was his fault. She wanted to comfort him but it wasn't her place to. So instead she shrugged. Yes, it wasn't something to comfort someone but she had no idea what else to do. She wasn't one use to trying to comfort others, usually they were the ones comforting her. "If it was her time to go, it was her time. There's nothing you could have done about it, it would have happened one way or another," Peyton said truthfully. That is how she believed. Then again, her whole family believed that.
As he mentioned about something bad happening, Peyton froze and looked at him. Then realizing she still had not changed her eyes from the bright red she closed her eyes and reopened them as they went back to their topaz color. "She had cancer she didn't make it. Then a few months back, I got it to, her and I shared everything," she said with a small laugh. "Once the cancer was out of my system I got changed into well- you know," she said shrugging. She wasn't going to cry, but she wasn't sure she liked the feeling of someone knowing it all. Not yet at least. It was something she would have to get use to.

"If it was her time to go, it was her time. There's nothing you could have done about it, it would have happened one way or another," Dougie didn't answer to this. He looked down at his feet, thoughts about anything and everything to do with Alyssa running through his head. "She had cancer she didn't make it. Then a few months back, I got it to, her and I shared everything," At that, Dougie looked up. His tears dried off of his skin in two seconds and he felt like the biggest jerk on the planet. Here he was, crying about something that had happened two years ago and there was a vampire who'd had cancer and lost her sister and worst of all, she couldn't even let proper tears out about it. "Once the cancer was out of my system I got changed into well- you know," Dougie moved to put his arms around her, then stopped, looking stupid with his arms in mid air. He dropped them limply. He didn't want to get bitten. He trusted her, of course, but he'd never tempted a vampire before, and this wasn't the time he wasn't going to start.

One thing Peyton prided herself on, though she never had to deal with things and other peoples buisness or help someone, she thought she was pretty good at helping others. She was smart and she had a lot of advice and words of wisdom to give. How she ever got them she wasn't sure but at times such as this one she couldn't help but be happy. How else was she going to be able to help Dougie out? She couldn't think of really anything so this was the best she could do.
One thing with Peytons powers was she could stop herself from first reaching into others thoughts. That was all up until she allowed herself to do it once then it seemed the control she had over it disappeared and now Peyton couldn't help but catch glimpses of his thoughts. Since he knew her ability to do so she didn't have a problem at all with letting it be known that she had picked up his thoughts. "Don't worry about, really," she said quietly.
Watching as he almost reached out for her she snickered at his thoughts as he let his arms fall missing her. She couldn't help it and her laugh rang out echoeing over the grounds. "I don't bite," she said laughing even harder now. If her face could turn red from the lack of air going into her lungs it would have been bright red, but since she didn't need to even really breath her face stayed it's pale color. "I'm so-," she began to say but could not finish, "-rry, really, I just," she tried to speak between the laughter. Taking a few unnecessary deep breaths she was able to calm the laughter. "Your thoughts were just to funny for me," she finished but she let herself back up away from him. In a way his reaction had hurt her and she really didn't feel like being to close to him at that moment. After there was a good distance between them she went ahead, turned around and sat down in the snow and curled her knees to her chest. It didn't matter that there was snow on the ground, even though her body temperature was higher it didn't b other her one bit. She couldn't look at him. She couldn't let anyone see. There was no one around them and she tucked her head into her arms as she finally cried.

Dougie felt like the biggest jerk in the entire universe. "Peyton -" She ran. He ran after her, taking ages as she was very fast. He finally reached her and slowed down, plonking down next to her. He took no hesitation in putting his arms round her that time. And he wasn't angry. It was rare to find Dougie angry. He wasn't angry she'd read his mind. He always accidently done it when he wanted to find out something. He shook his head at himself. "Peyton, I'm so, so, so sorry. I'm a terrible, terrible person." He tightened his grip on her slightly. "I'm a horrible person and I never meant to hurt you." He whispered softly. He felt ashamed in himself. What sort of person was he? A terribly horrible one. "Please don't take it to heart. It's just, my uncle always wanted to bite me and Lyss even though he refused. I had to yell across the room to talk to him. I'm used to thinking, 'is he going to bite me?'" He whispered into her hair. There was a gut wrenching pain in his stomach, because he wasn't used to making people cry. And now he knew what it felt like, ,he knew what it happened rarely.

Not sure what had taken over her Peyton couldn't hold anything in any more. She was already near her breaking point and his actions seemed to send her off the edge. Peyton knew that she wasn't crying normal tears, but at least she had her wand with her so she could clean her face up from the tears of blood that were now running down her face. She hadn't even stopped to think about them getting on her pants. She would have to make sure she cleaned them up to because she knew they had already got spots on them. The last thing she needed was to walk back into the school with blood stains on her and no marks. Others would be way to curious as to what was going on and she wasn't the mood to face them.
She knew that he was near her, yet she didn't look up. He couldn't see her a mess like that. Never. No one would ever. Though, it was already to late anyway. As she felt his warm arm drap over her she shrugged it off weakly, which didn't do any good. As he spoke she refused to look at him. Finally she lifted her head up after she allowed her senses to pick up if anyone had came around. No one. It was safe for her to look up. Not looking at him she said, "I don't think you have any idea what it's like to have to go through this on your own, sure there are others out there and even here like me but we don't stick together," she said threw clenched teeth. "Then hearing thoughts like that, it's just nerve wracking," she said now allowing herself to look at him. Her face was streaked red as more tears poured out of her once again bright red eyes. "You don't know what it's like not having anyone," she finished as she let her red eyes bore into his.

"I don't think you have any idea what it's like to have to go through this on your own, sure there are others out there and even here like me but we don't stick together. Then hearing thoughts like that, it's just nerve wracking," Dougie nodded. "Look, I didn't ask you to read my mind. And Peyton, I'm going to help. You might not want it, but you need it. Someone to help you." He looked at her seriously. "Please don't hate me. I've had enough of that." He muttered, thinking of what he'd done to Lily. He'd thought it had gone. Mindreading had it's downsides. definately. He was such an idiot. "I wish I was dead." He whispered. "I'm as good as." .

Peyton was mad at herself by this point. She couldn't understand what had really made her break down and lose the cool composure she had been able to hold over herself. She wasn't sure if it had to do with the guy or maybe things had just got to be to much for the girl. Her birthday was in a few days and all she could really think about is how she could have saved hers sister if she would have done just a little research about things in the Wizarding world. But no, she was to busy having a life, a life that should have been Penelopes too not just her own.
Still having a hold of her legs she didn't know what to do or say. It was as if her whole body had frozen. She felt ridiculous crying over such silly things and in front of a stranger. When the boy spoke once more Peyton felt furious. He didn't ask? Of course not but he acted like she had done it on purpose. "Excuse me!?" she exclaimed. "I'm sorry but if you haven't noticede I'm kind of a new born vamp here and well, yeah I don't have that much control over all these new powers," she said threw clenched teeth.
Knowing she needed to calm herself down she took her hand and punched the ground leaving a whole where here hand had broken through the snow and the hard ground. "Do you see why I shouldn't be around people? I can put wholes in hard ground without force, I could break you in half, and yet you sit here, why are you still here?" she exclaimed once more. She really couldn't understand why anyone would take risking their own lives if they knew how uncontrollable she really was at times. It was, well pretty stupid. And Peyton wanted an answer, and she wanted it now.
But before her anger completely over took her he began to mutter something. Looking at him she gave him an apologetic look. "I'm sorry, this is all still new to me, my anger seems to take control over my brain sometimes," she said now feeling horrible for her little out burst. "And don't say that, it can't be true."

"Excuse me!? I'm sorry but if you haven't noticede I'm kind of a new born vamp here and well, yeah I don't have that much control over all these new powers," A bright red flushed in Dougies' cheeks. "Sorry ... I just ..." he mumbled, not finishing. He blinked at the hole Peyton had made. "Do you see why I shouldn't be around people? I can put wholes in hard ground without force, I could break you in half, and yet you sit here, why are you still here?" Dougie blushed even harder, he didn't know why he was sitting there. "You trust me, don't you?" He made eye contact with her. "Don't you? That's why I am here Peyton. You can't do this alone, and I'm sorry if that offends you but you can't. No one could. It's better to have things in the open with people. It'd be better to let your feelings out than keep them bottled up because believe me Peyton, you'll end up doing somethign you regret." He finished with a deep sigh. "I'm sorry, this is all still new to me, my anger seems to take control over my brain sometimes. " "That's OK." Shrugged Dougie, not knowing what else to say. "And don't say that, it can't be true." "It is. When the dark lady finds out what I've done to Lilian I'm dead." He took another deep breath. "Peyton, would you like me to leave you alone? Because if you do, all you have to do is say."

Peyton suddenly felt saddened by her outburst on the unsuspecting victim who didn't deserve the blow up. Dougie had so far only been nice to her and here she was yelling at the only person who know what she as in the school, besides Jack that was. She hated herself for what she had become, not the vampire part, that with her attitude part. She was treating people worse then they deserved.
Sighing she let her guard back down. There was no reason why she needed it, not yet at least. "It is hard, I thought it was going to be easy," she said truthfully because she had believed she would have been able to handle such problems that she was dealing with.
When he asked if she wanted him to leave she did something at shocked her. She reached out and grabbed his hand, not in an embrace kind of way but a way to keep him there while she spoke. "I don't want you to go, I want you to stay," she said though as their skin touched she felt warmth flow through her whole body once more.

"It is hard, I thought it was going to be easy," "It'll get better." Dougie said, "Trust me." His voice was a whisper, and he put his arms around her shoulders. A different feeling of warmth flooded his body. He had a question on his lips, but he didn't speak them, 'Did you feel that?' How embarrising would that be if he spoke them? "I don't want you to go, I want you to stay," So Dougie stayed. In all truth and honesty he didn't want to leave. He was in the middle of something important. Or, so he felt. "You can tell me anything, Peyton. I won't tell. Even if you say I am a mindreader, and pyschic. Even if you tell people my past. I won't tell. You can trust me." He muttered in her ear softly. It didn't occour to him he shouldn't be doing this, hugging a vampire, but he couldn't help it. There was something about her...

Something inside of Peyton was wanting her to beg for Dougie to stay by her side for him to not get up and run off. She liked him being around her. Not that she would ever let such a thing escape her mouth again, she was already embarassed as it was that she had told him she wanted him to say. How stupid she was.
Sighing she tried not to let the embarassement show, forgetting that her face could no longer go red from blushing. Her secret was safe inside of her. But it was hard to ignore the warmth that ran threw her cold body. How weird it was. Nothing had seemed cold or warm to her, until now. The minute that the two touched she felt, well she wasn't sure what she felt. Trying not to look at him until she could get a handle on herself she only responded as she stared out over the grounds. "I know it'll get better but I'm not that great with patience and waiting," she confessed.
Then waiting as he spoke she smiled. She believed him, though still she tapped into his mind and was able to know that he seriously was telling the truth, she could trust him, he wasn't going to go tell everyone about her. Now looking at him she gave a weak smile. "How come your so nice to me knowing that I am a murderer, a killer, a blood sucker?" she asked him honestly curious.

"I know it'll get better but I'm not that great with patience and waiting," Dougie chuckled a soft laugh. "It passes time to have someone knowing about it, someone you can trust." he nodded. He didn't move his arms from around her. It felt as though he were protecting her from harm, which he would do from that point on. If anyone tried anything with her, a boy trying to make a move, someone trying to kill her or talk her into things, he'd be there, sorting them out. "How come your so nice to me knowing that I am a murderer, a killer, a blood sucker?" She'd interrupted his thoughts, luckily, her voice made his thoughts fly out of his head, he didn't want her knowing what he'd just thought. "It's..." He blushed, and lowered his voice down to a whisper, "It's something about you. I can tell ..... I can tell you ... won't hurt me.." He blushed a very red red, not daring to look at her, in fact, he kept his gaze steadily over the grounds.

Peyton had to give it to Dougie. He did have a point. It seemed to already have helped her out knowing that someone knew and yet that person still trusted her. She didn't want to be a hunter or something her own friends should be afraid of. All she wanted was to be herself, be able to not hide any more. She had done it most of her life, hiding her true feelings, hiding who she really was. Yet, she felt safe doing just that even though it was tiring. She felt safe knowing that nobody could hurt her because of her own defense mechanisms. After her sisters death she had made sure that no one would break down the wall, but now, here it had happened anyway.
Looking at him she didn't take her gaze away. She couldn't. Once more she felt the need to reach out to touch his face. But she wouldn't. No. She would keep her hands to herself. "In truth, I already feel so much better," she said quietly. It seemed she had lost her voice. It seemed all she could do was whisper.
Then, without warning she felt herself lose grip on her composure to not reach out to touch him. With what he said next and she couldn't help. She could tell easily with watching his veins and smelling that blood had rushed to his face. She knew that right now his face would have matched hers if she wasn't what she was. Reaching out she gently let her hand touch his face and let her fingers glide gently over his cheek. Then realizing what she had just done she stopped and pulled her hands back quickly. "Uh- I'm sorry about that, really, I don't know what came over me," she told him feeling embarassed.
