The Outer Layer
Physical Appearance;
The thing she took the most pride in was her dark brown tresses which she had grown out. The locks fell to about the middle of her back. She always took care of her hair and got it trimmed as well as layered frequently. A Scarlette trademark was her hair always smelled like vanilla. More often than not she let her hair hang down in all it’s glory. She found it almost a pity to have it brushed up in a pony tail or in some other style. Scarlette looks more like her father than she does her mother. Not in stature or body build but you can see Lucian Chandelle staring out from his eldest daughter’s eyes. She has the same haunting almost hollow stare that her father had at most times when she has her guard up. The blue orbs in which she saw the world threw seldom showed anything but emptiness. Oh they were quite stunning to look at but they tended to give people the chills. The only time Scarlette ever had any warmth to her eyes was when her big brother was around but that was now ancient history. She isn’t overly tall nor is she short, she is around that 5'5 and most of it is legs. She had a relatively short torso to go with the longer legs. Scarlette could put up a fight but wasn’t overly masculine, as she could hold her own when it came to a battle. In fact she was one of the most feminine builds in her whole family. You could almost say she looked dainty which fooled lots of people who tried to get under her skin. They only ever tried it once.
Scarlette had a oval shaped face which suited her well. She had high cheekbones that always seemed to be slightly flushed. Her nose was quite small and probably was the only thing she had inherited from her mother. Everything else between the two was like night and day. Her lips were a light pink and were just the right size as were they evenly matched. Dark black fringes outlined her eyes and had a natural bend to them which only made her blue eyes stand out more.
Scarlette has several tattoos. They range from her back to her ankle to the spot just on her hip bone. It is the most distinguishing park about Scarlette she has always loved getting tattoos. Most tell a story or something meaningful to her life. The other distinguishing mark that Scarlette Chandelle has is a large scar running up the spin of her back which was given to her by her father. Scarlette usually wore rather outrageous clothing. Skirts and corsets for the most part. On more casual days she would wear a pair of loose fitting jeans and a white t-shirt. She never put to much into what she was wearing as usually she wanted to be passed by. She really never wanted people to notice her, she always knew that if she avoided people it would be that much harder for her to get hurt

Personality;
Scarlette from a young age was very defensive even when she never did anything wrong. She was even worse with strangers as she never did trust anyone. When she finally did trust someone it was like solid gold, she had a great amount of respect for others if they only returned it to her. She was fairly snappy when she was being accused of something and didn’t think twice about telling people how she felt. Scarlette was bold at what she said and often went after her father. It did earn her a few smacks though, but that only made her more tough.
Hiding emotions were almost a talent for the young women. She was extremely good at leading people to believe that everything was perfect. She never let her emotions rule the way she responded to outside stimuli, unless it came to her father. In which case she threw caution to the wind and emotions just took over. So it was very hard to read her, most people you can get an idea about how to approach them. Scarlette for the longest time was very hard to approach but a lot of that extra hardness came off over the years. She was a lot softer than she was even three years ago. Much more approachable.
At a young age, as most are, she was taught that she was better because of her status and her linage. The parties that were at her house were ritzy in a way. Only the most exclusive people came, when she was in France anyway. That changed a bit when they moved to England. They still had a party now and then but it was more low key than before. She was raised in a rich and lavish lifestyle and was used to getting what she wanted. She was the oldest cliche in the book; spoiled little rich girl.
Scarlette was brought up in a strict manner, it was always proper. Her parents, more her mother, wouldn’t tolerate anything less that perfect. Again, it was more of a drill in France that it was when she moved to England. She was very appreciative of the change. Scarlette still has those good habits when they are needed but she would prefer to be herself.
It’s very hard for Scarlette to let people in as she has lost so much. She truly wants to be warm and welcome, and isn’t afraid of her father anymore. It is a big sore spot for her. She wants to be accepted by others and welcomed into their hearts. But to undo everything that her family has done would take a lifetime. She wasn’t exactly always innocent either, she will always have that wild streak.
The Past
History;
Scarlette Zabini was born on July 21, it was a rather cold and rainy day. She is the second daughter out off for the Zabini line. She has one older sister and two younger sisters. Scarlette was one of the middle children and usually got away with murder. Her older sister and the youngest got most of the attention at the manor which didn’t bother Scarlette one way or the other. It left her to have time on her own doing whatever she wanted and she rather abused that one to the fullest. At sixteen she generally had a mind of her own and did what she pleased when she wanted to do it. Actually she had been like that most of her life. She usually did things on her own time and liked to have time to mull things over in the privacy of her own self. That was something that Scarlette had always done. Not that she wasn’t a social butterfly because she was. Scarlette had lots of friends ever since she was a young child she always enjoyed the company of others. In school she was always quite popular and off course was a Slytherin like both of her parents. As was most of her family, but there was always a couple odd balls. In school she was respected and well known. That was just how things went. There was a tight group of students, all from Slytherin that were always together.
The girl had always had a very nice life. She got what she wanted even if she did have to lay on the look a couple times every now and then. They were privileged children and always got the best of the best. They traveled a fair bit and Scarlette had lots of world experience even at her young age of sixteen. During her childhood she usually did what she was told. She hadn’t started her rebel streak yet that started when she was fifteen. Her first four years at Hogwarts she was a rather studious child and did all her homework. She never got into trouble at that age. When she turned fifteen that sort of went south. Scarlette started doing things that would get her into some serious trouble. Going places that she shouldn’t be going, drinking among other things. That started and didn’t stop. Going into her sixth year at Hogwarts she was peaking. Scarlette knew that more great things would happen and couldn’t wait to get started.

One false move would send the blond haired Slytherin hurdling over the edge, into the depths below her. Which weren’t to good, as she would smash into the cement or the hard ground slightly to the left. Being that she didn’t hit any obstructions on the way now. A grimace crossed over the young girls face as she thought about it in more detail. “Who knew” the soft voice of the girl softly flew from her mouth before she had realized what she had even said. “When someone said count your blessings now. For they’re long gone. I guess I just didn’t know how. I was all wrong. They knew better. Still you said forever, and ever. Who knew” again the soft voice of Scarlette Chandelle came this time singing. Her words could barely be heard as she was singing in such a soft and gentle tone. Washing gently into the silence that was surrounding her at the current time. The corners of her mouth tugged themself into a tight, downcast smile. “I guess I knew, I should of known if I didn’t know” Scarlette said to herself, as she lightly brushed her head slightly harder than normal against the stone wall behind her. Sapphire eyes were locked on her entwined hands that were folded on her lap, slightly buried in the silky material of her skirt.
As softly as the singing she had just let out, came a sigh full of exasperation. Just wanting to let all of the tension go, her shoulders were slightly caved in as she slouched her body. The girl’s head was hung down, no longer resting against the cold wall. A soft expression fell upon her face as she turned her lips up into a mellow smile. Sapphire eyes still gently rested on her hands, but glittering in the fading light. Once more the girl leaned back on the wall, stretching out her neck and squinting her eyes. A crimson wave hit the girl’s cheek as she saw two robed people out of the corner of her eyes. She didn’t know if they had caught her singing or not, her self confidence was some what tarnished from her family. Slowly the girl twisted her body, one leg on either side of the railing as her back still rested against the wall. Her eyes grazed across the two young men in front of her, taking into account that she had already met the one. Scarlette had been slightly startled that they had followed her the whole way up and she didn’t even hear a noise. Surprise was forming in her eyes as she sat there, not saying any thing as of yet. Deeply the girl inhaled catching the scent of vanilla and spice that lay in her skin. “Yes it is nice to see you again Marth” the Slytherin replied softly.
Little by little she had unwound herself from the bundle of questions she had wound herself in only moments ago. A light shrug of her shoulders showed her lack of concern that they had followed her up the stairs. “It’s a free country and I enjoy new company, my other friends aren’t much for company these days” Scarlette remarked with a slight roll of her sapphire orbs. More and more she was slipping away from those friends and she didn’t care. For once she thought that they were her safety net but had learned over time that they weren’t. The only person who could be a her safety net was herself. Not only was she her own worst enemy but she was the only person who could save herself. The question that was raised next didn’t come to a shock to the girl, she used to try to hid what she was thinking but had given up on trying. It wasn’t worth all the suffering that she felt on the inside only to pretend that she was perfectly happy. A bright smile crossed over her lips and faded into her eyes as she nodded her head. “I’m perfectly fine, just thinking things through as usual” the girl replied with another shrug. In most cases she found when ever she tried to explain what she was thinking it came out a jumbled mess so she generally just left it alone. Nothing was bothering so there was no need to express what she was thinking. After all it was just about her sister Gabrielle, nothing would ever change there.
Ever so carefully, Scarlette shifted her body some more so that she was facing the two better than she was before. Yet her legs still stayed in the same position as her upper body was the only real change. Her soft hands were still entwined in the white fabric of her skirt, the florescent pink shade of her nails was barely visible. Growing slight bored or agitated for no reason she started to slowly caress the silky fabric between her fingers. What ever day dream her mind had pulled her into had been broken as she looked towards the two figures once again. Realizing that she was being introduced to the other that was with Marth. The formality that they used was some thing she was used to but wouldn’t expect that anyone would use it at such a place. Over time her smile had some what fallen of her face but was restored, there was no use in not trying to be friendly. She knew how well that went over. Over time it was just easier to be herself and not what people expected of. Scarlette’s eyes fell on Indrick’s outstretched hand. Carefully the Slytherin moved her body to shake the boy’s hand softly. Moments later, she brought her right hand and placed it back softly on her lap. Her hands entwined themselves together once more.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you as well Indrick” Scarlette replied still the same hazy smile on her face. Lightly her head was cocked to the right as she thought through what he had asked her, not really even recalling when it had been. “Well, I believe that we talked for a brief second some where on the grounds I don’t exactly recall at the moment” the girl responded as she lightly ran one of her fangs over her bottom lip. The motion seemed to be continues as she mimicked that motion at least several more times. Silence had washed over the tower and the girl moved uneasily on the railing. Scarlette quieted an on coming yawn as she lightly shook her head. It was odd for her to be so tired this early, it wasn’t even nightfall yet. Dear old mom would say that it would of been a sign that she wasn’t getting enough sleep. But she couldn’t help that once darkness fell she got restless and wanted to roam around freely. It was a part of her, just like every thing else she dealt with. Internally she scolded herself for going on with her thoughts and gazed over at the two standing. Her mind tried to conjure up some thing to speak of. Nothing was coming to mind, but there was still the good old questions of first relations. “So how are you two this evening” Scarlette asked, knowing it was a lame question and showed in the tone of voice she used.
