Meggera sat on the ground, under a tree that was very handily providing shade from the noon time sun. She had been playing her guitar a few minutes ago but had shrank it with a handy little spell she had learned. The tiny guitar was now stowed in her bag and had been replaced by her sketchbook and pencils. She sighed as she began erasing the base of the sketch she was starting, not liking the way it turned out.
She rested her head back against the tree for a moment, closing her blue-grey eyes. Her long black hair was straightened, as usual, and worn in an extremely long braid hanging over her shoulder. Her uniform was pristine, as it usually was when she was wearing it, aside from her shirt being untucked for the moment. She honestly didn't like wearing the uniform all day and would change out of it as soon as she was able to every evening, but she found it exceptionally vexing today for some reason.
She was also finding it extremely difficult to focus on much of anything, which didn't bode well for her studies...or her drawings. She was always able to draw something, be it a random tree or something else near by, but today...she couldn't even properly draw a straight line it seemed. Meggera let out a heavy sigh and opened her eyes again, brushing a stray lock of hair behind her ear, her eyes scanning the scenery, looking for some sort of inspiration. Anything.

Leaning against a tree, his arms crossed across his chest and one leg pegged against the tree, Jared Davis was looking around for something to do. His morning classes were done and he had a couple hours to kill before his afternoon professors would be looking for him. He smiled at the thought: being on the run from them. But knew that this was his last year and he really had to try to make it for all that it was worth. He let out a low whistle and looked up through the limbs at the sunny blue sky. It wasn't as warm as he would like it, but it seemed lucky to have a sunny day this late in September... and he was thankful for that.
As much as he loved the rain, being outside was much more enjoyable and less cumbersome when it was sunny. Otherwise he would have to use an umbrella or a rain coat and a large, heavy, waterproof messenger back to keep all his parchment and old books dry. Blowing upwards out of his bottom lip, his limp, short bangs tickled his forehead and he rubbed it a few times as he pushed away from the tree. If it was going to be this nice outside today, he best not spend it hiding from the sun.
He began to walk around the grounds, his hands stuffed in his front pockets and his eyes to the blue sky. It was such a pretty day out, there was no reason to be upset. But then he heard an almost frustrated sigh and he looked in the direction the sound came from. He found a fragile frame girl with long black hair braided down to the side and her head leaned against the tree. It looked like she had been sketching, but erased what she had started. He walked over and peered down at the paper and then looked at her. "Lacking inspiration on a day like today...?" he asked curiously, hoping he didn't sound rude. He was still unsure of how to act around women, and he hoped he hadn't said what he did, wrong.

Meggera was annoyed beyond all reason at the moment. It was a sunny day, somewhat warm for the time of year it was, and she had an art block the size of Big Ben it seemed. Usually it was so easy for her to get inspired by the smallest thing, but today..nothing at all seemed to be working. Not nature, not people, not anything. What was wrong with her today? She let out another sigh, not quite as heavy as last time before looking up when she heard a voice nearby.
Honestly Meggera was beginning to seriously miss the rain. Sure it annoyed her most of the time because it made her hair all staticy, not to mention if she had to go outside she always ended up getting muddy or her uniform mussed and she was such a perfectionist about her uniform usually that she couldn't stand the rain. Though oddly enough she enjoyed the snow... Perhaps it was because it didn't form puddles for her to accidentally step in and get soaked up to the ankles.
Meggera was so out of sorts that she hadn't even heard him approach. She blinked for a moment, surprised, before shaking her head. "Yes. It's a sin against nature, isn't it?" she said with yet another sigh as she shook her head lightly. She seemed to be full of sighs today. In a starea de spirit* as her older brother would say. She looked up at him, recognizing him slightly but his name didn't pop into her head right away. She did know that he was a year ahead of her and that she had seen him around the grounds on her various sketching adventures though.

It seemed like there was a never-ending supply of artistic and beautiful people at this school. Even the teachers were good looking. He wondered why that was for a moment, but then realized that people were coming from every walk of life and from all over the world... maybe it was just a coincidence. He smiled at the thought and then brought his attention back to the girl as she looked up at him, sighing after saying that it was a sin against nature. He nodded lightly and could agree with that. He wasn't much of an artist, but he knew enough that when they could not find the inspiration to draw, it would eat at them until they could again.
He brought his hand to his chin thoughtfully, rubbing his five-o-clock shadow that never seemed to go away. He thought for a moment and looked around. "Well... how about something simple? I mean... when I don't feel like going on a hike, but want to do something, I clean my gear. It could be the same for you.... you could just draw doodles until you find a shape that inspires you?" he offered. She didn't have to take his advice, but it was very true, for him, at least.
He smiled down at her and waited to hear what she had to say. And then her face came to mind, but a name didn't pop. He laughed lightly at himself and then offered a hand to her. "I'm Jared, by the way..."

Meggera watched as he rubbed his somewhat scruffy looking chin and then suggested doing something simpler then just starting out with a full blown masterpiece, like doodles instead. Doodling was usually saved for when she was bored in class, but why hadn't she thought of that when she first got stuck? One would think she might have...but apparently she was so far gone that her brain couldn't function artistically at all today. "Mm...that would've make sense, wouldn't it? To bad my brain has chosen to shut off today..." she said gloomily, rubbing her forehead lightly with a sigh. "It definitely wouldn't hurt to try though." she added with a small shrug.
She slowly began to swirl her pencil in small circles randomly for a moment until he offered his hand to her with a laugh. Jared was his name apparently. "Ah, Jared. Now I have a name to put to the face I've seen hiking around the grounds." she said, reaching her hand up to shake his, "I'm Meggera. Nice to meet you." she added, managing a small smile despite her somewhat frazzled mind set at the moment.

Jared always thought it was funny how the smallest, sometimes indirect hint from a complete stranger could spark a wonderful idea. He remembered when he was stuck thinking about what to do one day, and he saw a boy in the dinning hall finally ask out a girl and that was the push he needed to be set up for a blind date. It was weird... the first time... but the Weasley gal was rather pretty and a bit.... indifferent. They didn't get along very well, but they seemed almost perfect for each other. To bad after their second date he never saw her again. Which was sad, but at the same time, he could tell that if anything came from that relationship, he would have been fighting with her every other night, and that wasn't much of a relationship in his books.
He nodded lightly as she agreed with him and then said that her brain had decided to not work today. He chuckled lightly and shook her hand firmly as she offered her name. She seemed to remember him hiking around the grounds and he couldn't help but smile. At least his reputation proceeded him. "Yeah... haha... that's me. And Meggera is a very pretty name..." he added smoothly. It was indeed and she was the first person he had met with that name. Made her that much more unique from the other pretty girls around the campus. He stuffed his hands in his pockets and leaned against the tree, one leg bent at the knee, and the other playing the part of a support. He glanced down at her sketch book again. "What did you want to draw, before I came along?"

He had a firm handshake, that was one of the things that popped into her head instantly. Probably because she could recall her father and grandfather talking about such things. Something about how you could always tell a mans character through his handshake. She had never quite understood that really. People has so many facets, how could one possibly see each of them in one simple handshake? Unthinkable in Meggera's eyes, but whatever helped them she supposed. She smiled lightly when he said her name was pretty. "Thanks.." she said softly, looking down at her paper to hide the pleased look on her face. She hadn't really been complimented in a while, or she'd been in to much of a depressed state to notice if she had. It felt nice either way, a refreshing change from the self induced hell she'd been putting herself through. She noticed the random swirls she had been drawing in her sketchbook seemed to form a shape almost like a cake. Huh, perhaps her subconscious was telling her to get some sweets later.
She looked back up again when he leaned against the tree she was sitting under and asked what she had been planning on drawing. "Well, I didn't really have a definite plan when I came out here. I had wanted to practice drawing people or creatures a bit, but then when I got out here...I guess I got...distracted." she said, leaning her head back against the tree once again with a small sigh. She'd been getting distracted a lot lately, but she wasn't sure how to fix it. She knew she needed to before her school work started to suffer, but she just wasn't to sure how to go about fixing it. This depression that had settled into her veins seemed to be growing daily with no sign of stopping. Perhaps she should ask someone for help, but she couldn't seem to form the words, couldn't even really conceive them. How could she ask for help if she couldn't even speak of it to anyone? Her pride kept her from it. Why did she have to come from a family of such stubborn people?

It felt nice to take a minute to just rest against the tree. He had been so busy with school work that it was nice to just enjoy the outdoors, as he always did. he was not sure how much time he would spend out here, but seeing as he may have found a new friend, it was worth the procrastination.
He smiled down at her as she thanked him for calling her name pretty, but saw that she looked down rather than up at him. he raised a brow, had he perhaps embarrassed her? He could never really tell around women anymore.... not to sound mean, but it was just hard sometimes. Especially for him since he had just started dating and apparently wasn't very good at it... he sighed lightly and then perked up again as she answered his question about what she had originally wanted to draw. She mentioned that she didn't have a real solid idea, but she wanted to work on humans and creatures. He nodded lightly to her as she said she had become distracted as soon as she came out here. He smiled gently.
"That happens to me all the time... one minute I'm headed to class, and the next i'm off in the woods, scraping up my god-awful uniform...." he thought for a minute. "Well... would you like a model? I could sit, stand, or lay however you'd like.... if you'd like...?" he offered, smiling down at her. Why not? It could be fun. He had never been a model for an artist before.

Meggera's head snapped up to gawk at him for a moment. Had he just offered to model for her? She rolled his last words through her head once more just to be sure she wasn't going crazy or hearing things. That was surprising to her. Usually it was difficult for her to get models, especially guys. None of them wanted to hold still for very long and grew bored while she drew. Girls on the other hand...they were only to willing to be models and took hours on end getting ready in which case Meggera often grew bored waiting around for them to be primped enough to pose for her. There was never a shortage of them, so she was practically an expert in female anatomy and poses. Guys however...they were much harder to get right for her. She always ended up messing up the musculature or making them look like they had something dislocated with their broader shoulders. It was extremely vexing.
Yet here was someone willing, even volunteering to model for her? It certainly wasn't a chance she was going to pass up. "Sure! I never turn down a model." she said with a wide smile. A few moments later she was on her feet and moving away from the tree at a speed people probably doubted she possessed. Being petite made her less wind resistant though. She dropped her sketchbook and stuff onto the grass a few feet away from where she had been sitting before turning to face Jared, her hands on her hips as she thought for a moment, biting her lip as she contemplated what pose she wanted him in. "Could you sit right where I was at the base of the tree? And bend your right knee up while resting your right arm on it?" she asked before quickly adding, "Please?" at the end. She had gotten excited and almost forgot her manners in the process. She hadn't been quite this excited in a while, it was a nice and different feeling for her. Perhaps she'd be able to get him to model for her again since he seemed willing? It would definitely be nice to have a willing male model.

Jared laughed a little as her head shot up to look at him and, as in almost awe, gawk at him. He had never really minded sitting for a long time, and it seemed like fun to be the spark and idea of a drawing for someone. He had never done it before, but hey… new friends brought new adventures. He smiled at her as she rushed to her feet, dropping her things in the grass and turning to look at him with her hands on her hips. Whoa… she could move quick… He had not doubted it, but he just didn’t expect someone to be that excited about him offering to lay there for them. He gave her a crooked smile as she told him how to sit and he nodded slowly. He closed his eyes, envisioning how he was supposed to sit and then sat at the tree.
He had his hands on either side of his hips, sort of holding him off the ground barely and then he looked at her. “Oh,” he said, “I know this may sound weird… but from what I remember, artists like their model’s naked… Now. I’m not going to take off my pants for you… but would you like the shirt on or off….?” He felt awkward asking that question, but since it seemed that she had a picture in her head all ready, it was really up to her how she wanted him. He sat down, left his left leg out in front of him, and bent his right leg, resting his right arm on it, as instructed, and waited for further instructions.
He had to be honest that he was indeed excited about all this, and really wondered how it would turn out. He was sure that his mother would get a kick out of this when he wrote her later tonight.

Meggera had sat down cross legged on the grass a few feet away from him and was flipping to a new page in her sketchbook when he asked the question. Yet another surprise for the day. All within a span of 10 minutes no less! It was a rather awkward question too..."Well its up to you really...if you feel comfortable taking your shirt off for a bit I wouldn't object, but it's your choice. This helps me either way..." she said, looking at her pencil as she sort of flipped it left and right. She had actually taken a nude drawing class once over the summer and honestly it had made her a bit uncomfortable. She hadn't been able to stop her cheeks from flushing for most of the class which only caused her older classmates to tease her about it. It wasn't exactly something she was comfortable repeating anyway so she wouldn't ask anyone to pose nude for her for a very very very long time.
Half naked wasn't bad though. Certainly more comfortable for Meggera since it involved clothes and all... She stopped messing with her pencil and looked back up at him, waiting for him to make the ultimate decision on the matter. She wouldn't mind it at all really, but she didn't want to make him uncomfortable in case he ever felt like offering to model for her again. If he was uncomfortable he would be less likely to offer again...and that would definitely be a shame. She needed the practice after all...and he seemed nice, she wouldn't mind drawing him again or even just seeing him around more often. She didn't have to many friends right now, or at least none that really wanted to stick around through her hard times. So it would be nice to have someone to maybe talk to again every once in a while. Last thing she wanted to do was go scaring a potential new friend away after just meeting him.

It seemed like she did not really care weather or not he was topless. He thought about it and remembered what his mother told him this year: "Take every chance. You'll regret it all later if you don't." He smiled at the thought and then leaned forward a ways and reached for the opposite side of his shirt with the opposite hand and pulled it off from the bottom. There was a little bit of a chill, but since the sun was still out, it was only when the breeze blew, which was dwindling down to give them a last warm summer day. He folded his shirt up and set it aside, looking over at Meggera, wondering what she was going to do.
He settled back into the pose she had told him before and looked at her again, a small smile on his face. "There we are. Why not, right?" he asked her gently. It was a little awkward to be without a top just sitting in public, but since he was happy with the way his body was and how he looked, he knew that that awkwardness would pass.
Taking a deep breath of the warm summer air, he closed his eyes for a moment and calmed himself, settling into his position. He didn't know how long she would take, but he figured he would get comfortable anyway.
As he opened his eyes, he still wondered what this girl thought about him. He knew that it was soon to be thinking about things like that, but maybe.... if she didn't have a boyfriend or whatnot, he would ask her out later if she showed any interest. She seemed sweet enough and it seemed that she was very energetic to his willingness to help her out with something as simple as a drawing.

Meggera glanced up from flipping her pencil back and forth to see him taking off his shirt after all. He was smiling too. That set a small smile to her face as he relaxed back into the position she had asked him to take. She felt the slight chill of the wind and hoped he wouldn't get cold anytime soon..she'd hate to be the reason he ended up getting sick or something... Though now that she thought about it he might be somewhat uncomfortable to be shirtless in public, then again he might not since he actually chose to do it after all. But still, she'd have to make a note to find someplace more private if he let her draw him like this again. She was pretty sure she knew some around the lake that were partially hidden by the forest if not completely hidden from anyone not in the know. She knew this mainly because she enjoyed drawing at the lake and had discovered a few places while perched on some of the larger rocks in the lake.
Her eyes traced his form, making sure he had gotten back into the right position, which he had of course. So she began to sketch, her work keeping her from blushing slightly at his shirtlessness. Honestly, why did she have to be so shy about these sorts of things? She didn't have a problem when people were swimming...even if they were attractive or had a good body. And he certainly did... She kept focused, trying to draw quickly so they wouldn't lose any light with the movement of the sun and so he wouldnt be stuck there forever, but also trying to be as accurate as possible while being quick.
She bit her lip, a habit she hardly ever noticed when she drew or concentrated, as she glanced back and forth from her sketchbook and him as she drew. She paused, tilting her head to the side for a moment as she contemplated the positioning of his head. "Hmmm...Jared..would you mind turning your head this way slightly?" she asked, holding up her pencil so that he'd be looking slightly farther in the distance so she could get an almost profile of him for the sketch.

Jared let his eyes wander around as she drew him. She was very focused and he did not want to distract her… well… more than he was as being her model. He wasn’t really looking around for anyone to be watching, but rather just looking around, trying to avoid getting too cold. If he was distracted by watching something, such as the bird he was watching currently, he could avoid getting cold. The breeze seemed to be dying down so hopefully he could avoid getting so cold to get sick. Though he wouldn’t mind spending a couple of days in bed just catching up on all the books he should be reading at the moment… but alas, this was much more fun.
Her words brought him out from his thought and he looked at her as she instructed him to turn his head almost to the side so she could see just one side of his face. He smiled and nodded lightly, keeping his body still, but turning his head the direction she mimicked for him to do. He sort of chuckled to himself. “So did you have nothing above my shoulders done? That would look funny…” he smiled and let out a small laugh. “Sorry… not your drawing, just imaging if we had to stop without the head, it would make for an awkward photo….” He smiled lightly and then went back to exactly he had been before for her. He knew it was a rather large annoyance when something wasn’t in the place he had left it, and then he had to turn the whole dorm upside-down to find it. And he would hate to have to make her start all over and loose her focus.
He smiled as he noticed a blush on her face and wondered if it was the cold or the fact that he was topless. Either way, she was rather cute and he really couldn’t stop thinking about that fact….

Meggera smirked lightly at his comment about how it would look funny if in the picture he had no head, then clarified slightly, possibly in case she took offense to the comment. But she hadn't, it would certainly look funny if he had no head, although she could always superimpose some comical reason the picture had no head, though it would most likely ruin the point of her practice. "Mmm...it would definitely look odd. Though I could always turn you into one of those ancient Egyptian gods with the head of an animal all else fails." she said with a soft laugh. Perhaps a hawk or a panther, yes that would be interesting, for another time that is. Or perhaps after she was done. She could make a copy and add in the animal head over said copy so the original wouldn't get ruined.
The thought effectively distracted her though so she could stop blushing quite so obviously. It was certainly an entertaining thought. Maybe she really would do it on a copy...but first she needed to finish the original. She kept sketching, taking more care as she finished the basics and started in on the details, occasionally erasing spots so they looked more finished then sketchy, also darkening finished lines so she could erase the sketchy excess lines as she went. As she went into detail she also started to add a little of the surroundings, like the tree he was leaning against and the grass underneath him so it wouldn't look like he was leaning against nothing. Se always tried to add a bit of back-round to her drawings of people, she didn't think it looked right without them. Less realistic and aesthetically pleasing. "I think we're almost done...just need to add a few more details..." she said, though she wasn't sure if he could hear her, she did say it somewhat softly after all since she was focused on getting it done before it got any colder.
