Jared sat at the café with his favorite tee (pictured below) on and khaki shorts with flip flops on. It was a lazy outfit, but it was the weekend and he didn’t have to get all dressed up in his robes for school, which was quite a relief to this young wizard. He had been in the mood for an adventure earlier in the week, but he was just settling down for a nice relaxing day. And who knew? Maybe he would meet someone new as he sat here and enjoyed his coffee. It was still early in the day and he did not plan on moving from his spot for a long while. He was content with people watching and sipping on his cup of joe for the time being… Maybe later he would have the adventure crave again and go wandering around the woods.
There was a strange array of people around the city today: some young, some old. He saw everything from fights between boys, to giggling girls flirting with older men, to an old couple sitting across the way from him on a bench, holding hands and just talking. He smiled lightly: what a cute couple. It was always great to see people that had been together for so long to still love each other. He knew that his parents were going to be like that…. ninety and still holding hands as they sat and watched the clouds over the lake by their house. Another smile found its way to his young face as he thought about his parents and how excited he was to be going to Peru at the end of the year for a three-month hiking trip with his dad. It was a long ways off, but Jared liked to think about it and what it would be like so that when he was there it would blow him away.
Thinking about his parents, he never even heard when he was approached by someone.

This cafe was one of Avery's favourites, and one she commonly frequented. As did everyone else, at least, so it seemed this particular weekend. Scowling as she scanned the bustling cafe for an empty seat Avery saw that she was out of luck. She had already ordered, standing in line for merlin knows how long, and now as she stood, off to the side cradling her mug neatly in both hands she couldn't help but feel a little annoyed.
The morning had started out so perfectly for the young woman. She had been able to sleep in, and when she had woken the weather was lovely and the day had just seemed to ring with that promise of a pleasant day. Now however, her mood was souring and Avery huffed in irritation as her blue gaze continued to dart around the cafe from a free seat. Pursing her lips Avery was about to just give up, set down her drink and find somewhere else to spend her morning when someone caught her eye.
Sitting along, with an empty chair directly across from him Avery surveyed the man curiously. He looked about her age, maybe a little bit younger, though he was certainly attractive, and he was sitting alone. For a few moments Avery watched to make sure that he didn't have a companion who had just left the table briefly, but feeling secure that the man was indeed alone Avery made her way across the cafe. Allowing her hand to rest on the back of the empty chair the woman smiled at the man, coughing discreetly to catch his attention. "Sorry, I couldn't help but notice you were sitting alone. Do you mind if I steal this spot? My coffee's getting cold and it would be a shame to have to leave." Maybe a little bit of company would just help make this morning that much better.

Jared's mind wandered again to his parents. He missed them both terribly and he wondered how they were doing. He would have to write them sometime soon. He smiled at that thought as his dad never saw a use for owls and was still scared of them. He chuckled lightly and took another sip of his coffee. He was itching to do something, but for now, a quiet morning was really what he needed. There had been too many hectic days at school and now being eighteen, he felt a new sense of being. He was an 'adult' by most countries standards and he was proud to have crossed that bridge. It always seemed like most of his friends were there before him, drinking and partying and having dozens of girlfriends.... But when he thought about it... he was happy to have grown up slowly. It made the world that much more interesting to see.
But as soon a he heard a voice, he was brought back to reality. He looked up to see a young, pretty girl standing in front of him. She looked to be very well off, dressed in fine clothes and a nice bag. He wondered who she was, but since she was asking to sit down here with him so her coffee would not go bad, he guessed he would find out soon enough. He smiled at her brightly and nodded, extending a hand, offering her the chair. "Please do. Nothing more enjoyable than a cup o' joe with company." he nodded lightly and then returned his hands to his mug, taking another sip.
He wondered why she had singled him out, but after a quick glance around the cafe, he could see that he was the only one there alone and sitting at a table for two. There was plenty of room for her to be there, he just wasn't used to talking to... well... pretty girls. Of course he would be nothing but polite, and perhaps he would make a friend. He smiled at her again as she sat down. "I'm Jared, by the way, Miss...?" he left it open, hoping to get a name so he didn't have to call her 'miss' the entire time they were enjoying their coffees.
