Bellatrix stood over the coffin with baited breath, looking down at the corpse that lay before her. There was no light emitting from her expression, no colour to her cheeks. Her skin was cold as ice and her mind was empty, non respondent, dead. Why, might you ask, was she looking at such a morbid sight? Because inside this dead body were two souls still flickering brightly. That of the body's owner, a young mum named Kelsey, and that of herself.
She lightly touched Kelsey's hand before apparating away to her hide out, the old house of her master, Riddle Manor. The body still lay limp and lifeless, and so she stayed for a good hour or so. In the meantime, Bellatrix left her on the marble floor and went about busying herself with various jobs. Once they were finished she kicked back with a glass of firewhisky and awaited her horcrux to regain consciousness.
Her plan had worked perfectly. This very moment one of her Death Eaters was refilling the coffin with a new owner, though no one would know it was a different person as the new body had beforehand been slipped some polyjuice potion. She looked in every way to be Kelsey, but there was one crucial difference. She was not Kelsey.
The plan was very simple. Everyone would believe that Kelsey was dead, her father, her husband, everyone. Then, she would have the promising Death Eater all to herself, to ensure that no outside influences would throw her off track. She needed Kelsey to be totally loyal to her. She was her horcrux. This was her only way of making sure that the carrier of the other part of her soul would not go astray.

Everything inside of her mind was a bit fuzzy. The last thing she remembered was looking at her father, saying his name and then seeing nothing but darkness. She awoke hours later, not in reality but inside of her mind, in this wide open field surrounded by flowers and trees along the edges. The sun was shining, birds were singing and everything was peaceful. There was only one problem though, she was alone. Completely and utterly alone. Was she dead? No, she couldn't be. She felt too much alive. She felt light and free, like a huge weight had been lifted off her shoulders. Something was missing from her, she just couldn't figure out what it was.
Kelsey rose from where she was sitting in the field. She looked down at her body and saw that she was wearing a light and thin white dress that went to her knees. She moved her head back up towards the edges of the field and spotted an archway at the far east of the clearing. Curiosity burned inside of her which caused the young woman to head towards the archway. She searched herself for her wand, wanting it just in case something were to attack her. However, her search turned up empty. Her wand was missing but somehow Kelsey felt she would not need her wand and that this place would protect her.
Kelsey reached the archway and gazed upon the thick forest that was ahead. The trees were dark and uninviting, like the type you may read about in books that were nothing but evil. She didn't know if she should cross into these woods. She feared that she would not be able to come back to this field that she felt safe in. She contemplated on the two choices for a moment. Something inside of her was telling her to take the risk and enter the forest. She listened to this instinct and crossed through the archway and into the forest. The warmth that had once occupied her body in the field disappeared the moment she crossed over to the forest. A long, dark, rocky pathway was before her, leading off into the thickness of the forest. She did not hesitate but welcomed the new challenge and began to walk down the pathway.
After what felt like hours of walking, Kelsey had made no progress finding anything but trees in the forest. It seemed like this pathway went on forever. She stepped on odd rocks pointing out of the path with her bare feet and yet she felt no pain. It was like her body was immune to feeling any pain wherever she was. She continued to walk, determined to find whatever was at the end of the path. Then, finally after all this walking, Kelsey saw a small flicker of something at the end of the path. She practically ran towards the end, anticipating what she may find waiting for her.
However, when she arrived at the end, it was not what she expected. There was a small clearing and in the center was this huge, old tree with dull, dead brown vines hanging from it. The pathway that Kelsey had been following went around the outside of the tree. She began to walk closer to it, the darkness still all around her. It seemed to be a permanent cloud cover over this forest. She was getting closer to the tree when she noticed something. There stood a dark, hooded figure only a few feet in front of her. It kept getting closer and Kelsey stopped walking and merely watched the figure approach her. It was like her feet were planted into the ground and she could not move even if she tried. Then, the figure stopped right in front of her. Kelsey could see no face, only darkness. The figure lifted its arm, pointing its sleeve at her. Suddenly, instead of an arm coming out from the sleeve, a black, air like substance appeared out of it. This substance began to head towards Kelsey and drape itself around her body. It entwined itself on every party of her where you could no longer see her white dress anymore. The feeling of a weight on her shoulders appeared again. She had thought she had lost it for good. Then, when it seemed this darkness was done, everything went black once again.
This time when she awoke, she could tell she was no longer in her fantasy world. Pain throbbed in her head and her throat as she stirred on the marble floor on which she was placed. Her eyes flickered open and saw the reality around her. She knew she was back to the real world. The feeling of a weight on her shoulders was stronger than ever now. Kelsey sat up, putting a hand to her head and massaging her temples. She tried to focus her eyes to see where she was. She was no longer in the Great Hall at Hogwarts, that was for sure.
"Hello?," She managed to croak out, trying to focus her blurry eyesight so she could see if there was anyone in the room with her. Her throat was dry, sore and craved for water. She remembered how it felt as though it was swelling before she had blacked out in the Great Hall. Her head was still filled with confusion and she did not know what to think. What had happened to her? She had an eerie feeling that nothing would ever be the same again.

Bellatrix sipped her firewhisky, for once actually feeling relaxed, as she watched the lifeless body. It was amazing how peaceful Kelsey actually looked. If she didn't know better Bella would have believed that she actually was dead. It certainly looked that way. It didn't seem possible that there was still a life inside that skin.
After a while she saw Kelsey's fingers begin to twitch, followed by the corners of her mouth and finally her eyes. They fluttered open looking understandably confused. "Hello?" she heard Kelsey croak. Bellatrix quietly placed down her firewhisky, stood up and positioned herself so that she was looking down upon her horcrux.
"Dont worry Kelsey, you're here with me," she said. Kneeling down she placed her hand on her arm, tilting her head slightly. "I'm here," she repeated. All the while Kelsey was on her side Bellatrix was feeling more and more maternal once more. She had lost a son. That motherly feeling could easily be buried, but it was never completely gone. And this seventeen year old girl was bringing it all back. However she couldn't let things get out of hand. If Kelsey dared cross her, she would make her pay.
Not wanting to show her caring side she stood back up and continued to sip her drink. As she did so all her plans started to unfold in her mind. This was the perfect opportunity to really train up Kelsey and then make a start on taking down the ministry, and finally making herself known. Guess who else was back from the dead?

Confusion was consuming Kelsey at an alarming rate. What exactly had happened to her back at the Graduation. Where was she? How did she get here? Where was her father? There was nothing more that Kelsey wanted than to see her father right about now. Hopefully he was around here somewhere and could clear up all this confusion for her. Maybe she had had an allergic reaction to something she had ate at the ceremony. That could have caused her throat to swell and for her to pass out. Whatever had happened she had this odd feeling that it wasn't anything good.
It seemed to be that at every big event of her life something terrible happens. Can she not have at least drama free day? She should have known something was going to happen at the Graduation. The day was going by too perfectly. Her head pounded still as she say upon the cold floor of wherever she was. She could not shake off the sense of danger that she felt around her. Something good was not going to happen, that was a fact. All she saw was more misery in her life again.
Then she saw a shadow coming over her which caused her too look up. There standing over her was none other than Bellatrix Lestrange. What was she doing here? Kelsey, being as smart as she is, knew at that moment that whatever happened at her Graduation was somehow Bellatrix's doing. She gazed at Bellatrix, not knowing what to say. Her head continued to pound and she began to wonder more where her father was. Surely he wouldn't leave her alone with Bellatrix, would he? Did he even know she was in Bella's possession? Kelsey watched as Bella knelt before her and tried to calm her down and soothe her. This was an odd thing to see. It was like there was an actual caring human being inside of this insane lunatic. She was acting sort of mother like which was terribly odd. Kelsey didn't think that this woman had a maternal bone in her body. The moment, however was short lived and soon Bellatrix was standing again, looking down at her.
"W..What happened? Where's my father?" Kelsey managed to croak out, her throat dry and sore. Her whole body was craving for some kind of drink. She gazed in envy at the glass of firewhiskey that Bellatrix was drinking. She continued to rub her temples, trying to rid herself of the enormous headache that had consumed her brain. She could barely think of anything with the pain and confusion surrounding her at that moment. Hopefully Bellatrix would answer this question and not try to keep anything from her. She had always hated not knowing what was going on, after all.
"Can I have a glass of water?" Kelsey coughed, her throat swelling with more pain with every word she spoke. Kelsey tried to stand but only got half way before falling back down to the ground again. Her whole body was weak. Hunger pains followed the rest of the pain in her body. It was like she hadn't eaten in days. How long was she passed out for anyways? What time was it? Why was everything so confusing? All the eighteen year old wanted was for someone to explain everything that had happened. She wanted to make this confusion go away as quickly as possible.

Poor Kelsey. She looked so confused and bewildered. It annoyed Bella that the first person she asked for was Robert, but then she supposed that was to be expected. "Your father is not here," she stated simply. There was no easy way to tell her, so she said it outright. "He thinks you're dead. Everyone thinks you're dead."
She turned away from Kelsey to allow her to digest the information. If the little piece of Bella's soul inside of her really was as strong as she thought it was, Kelsey would understand the plan immediately, and better yet, she would think it was genius. If not, she would probably need some convincing. Unfortunately for her, Bellatrix was not familiar with the concept of friendly persuasion.
Whilst she waited she ordered the house elf to get Kelsey a glass of water, and it did so promptly. However, she did not give it to her. She held it in her hand, just within Kelsey's sight. If she behaved she could have the water. If she made a fuss, she wouldn't. It was simple as that. Call her heartless but that was pretty much what she was. The Dark Lord had always been her main priority and now that he wasn't around her main priority was fulfilling his legacy and living up to his expectations. That was more important than some little girl, even if she was Bella's horcrux. There was nothing she wouldn't do to please her master, even from beyond the grave. Everyone who knew her was only too aware of that.

If Kelsey wasn't confused before Bellatrix spoke to her then she was surely confused now. When the wicked old witch told her that everyone thought she was dead, her whole face went blank and her eyes went wide. Why in the world would everyone think that? Surely this was all just a misunderstanding that could easily be fix. However, in the back of her mind Kelsey knew this was not the case. Something much bigger was going on here.
"What?!" Kelsey said simply, her eyes still wide in shock. No other words came to her except for that. She tried to think back to that day. She remembered her graduation, getting her diploma and talking to her father. She also remembered feeling like she was being followed and seeing a man in the crowd. A man that look familiar. Where had she seen this man before? Then it dawned on her. He was at the Death Eater meetings Kelsey attended. She thought back to just before she passed out. What had she done? She had put on her father's mother's necklace, thanked her dad and then took a drink. Her drink. She knew it tasted a bit funny. The Death Eater must have slipped something into her drink that night. Kelsey thought back to when she used to read a lot and thought of potions. One in particular stuck in her mind. It was a potion that made the drinker have the appearance of death but was actually in a deep deep sleep. It all made sense now. Kelsey only had one question left.
"Why?" She asked, the look of shock and confusion no longer on her face. What could Bellatrix gain to having everyone think Kelsey was dead? Kelsey thought of this while she waited for Bellatrix to answer. She began to come up with her own theories. If Kelsey was dead, it would mean Robert was out of the picture. He was the one person that was keeping her sane all this time. Also, her children and husband would no longer be around. There would be no more distractions or anything between her and Bellatrix. Did Bella really just want Kelsey all to herself?
Kelsey eyed the glass of water in Bellatrix's hand with envy. She wanted that water more than she wanted anything at this moment. It looked to be that Bella was not going to give up the water so easily. Being smart, Kelsey knew that she would probably have to remain calm and composed about this situation in order to receive the water. She mustered all the strength she could and managed to pick her body up off the floor and stand up. Her legs were weak and buckled slightly. She managed to catch herself from falling and stand up straight. Her eyes did not look at Bellatrix but at the cup of water in her hands. Hopefully she could receive the water soon.

Bella shook her head slightly. "Come on Kelsey, you're a smart girl," she tutted, but at her confuaed expression she sighed and continued. "Everyone thinks I'm dead, and now they think you are too. We'll easily take down the ministry because we've for the element of surprise on our side. They'll never guess it is us." She grinned at her own cleverness. Of course that was not the only reason, but she would never let on to Kelsey that it was also so that their relationship would have the opportunity to flourish.
She glanced down at the glass of water in her hand and swirled it around so that ringlets formed on the surface. "You know Kelsey," she sighed in a dreamlike fashion. "Im not completely heartless." She thought back to the love she had felt for her son and the hurt that had ripped through her when her chance at motherhood had been shattered. Kelsey would never know of that.
Snapping out of her trance she glared at the girl, who was now stood unsteadily before her. and dropped the glass of water. It smashed on the marble floor, letting the liquid gush out. Let Kelsey remain thirsty. It wouldnt kill her, and it would reinforce who was boss. Whilst she was in Bellatrix's care she would abide to Bellatrix's rules. If she chose not to then she would never see the light of day. The dungeons in the lower levels of Bella's home were empty and all too willing to accept new captives.
"Clean up this mess!" she ordered, before beginning to head out of the room. No one would ever make her feel again. She couldn't. She was numb inside, and that is how it would stay. It was the safest option.

Life as she knew it had changed. The saying 'you don't know what you have until its gone' was starting to become more and more true for Kelsey. She had lost everything. Her family thought that she was dead, her children would grow up not knowing her and her husband would probably forget about her and remarry. It killed her to know that everyone she loved was miserable right now because of her death. All she wanted to do was run away, back to her family and tell them that she was alive. Sadly, that was not a possibility. Bellatrix would have her killed faster than she could say Quidditch if she tried anything like that.
Kelsey knew that there was only one way out of this. She had to co-operate with Bellatrix and do whatever the evil woman wanted. There was no way that she could do anything else than that. There was too may consequences if she did not do what Bellatrix wanted. She needed time to come up with a plan. Some kind of plan in order to escape this place. Then again, this could be the escape she was craving for. Maybe this was her chance to start all over and begin a new and happy life. She was so confused at the moment that she did not know what to do.
Kelsey felt like bolting out laughing when Bellatrix claimed that she wasn't completely heartless. That was the biggest lie of life. Bellatrix Lestrange was the most heartless person that Kelsey knew. Though Bella had always been oddly nice to her in the past she knew that it would not last. She feared the day that Bella decided to unleash her wrath on her.
Then, Kelsey watched in horror as Bellatrix threw her water to the ground. She couldn't believe that that just happened. Kelsey hadn't even done anything to deserve that. She watched as Bellatrix began to walk towards the door and nodded as she was ordered to clean up the mess. She found her wand inside her dress pocket and waved it, watching as the water evaporated away from the floor. She let her eyes rest on Bellatrix and knew she needed to stay on this witch's good side.
"I understand why you did what you did. I totally agree with you and I think that together we could take down the Ministry. I want you to know that I support you and will do anything you ask," Kelsey said, her eyes still looking at Bellatrix. She spoke the truth because she had no other choice than to support Bellatrix. She rubbed her throat, waiting for Bellatrix to speak, hoping that this will not result in her death.

Bella smirked as Kelsey stood and grovelled. She was still not completely sure that Kelsey could be trusted, but she was slowly beginning to believe her. Turning back she looked at her captive and said "Up the stairs, first door to the right will be your room. If you need anything call on the house elf."
Without another word she head into her study and slammed the door. She had been busying herself by listing some tasks that she wished Kelsey to do on a piece of parchment. They ranged from making her dinner one night to torturing an innocent passer by to bringing a muggle home to Bella. That, she was particularly excited about.
Even though plans to infiltrate the ministry were fast forming, she was still having to lay low for the time being. To satisfy het torture needs she wanted a muggle brought to her so that she could have a little fun. They were always the most fun because they never had any idea what was going on. When Bella drew out her wand they had no idea that they should actually be fearing for their life.
Smiling satisfactorily at her piece of parchment, she headed back out the office. Kelsey was still stood in the hall. Couldn't the girl think for herself? Bella handed the parchment to the with one swift movement. "Do these tasks," she ordered, no sympathy even gracing her tone. It was time for Kelsey to learn that adult life was not kind. Especially not when you're in the care of Bellatrix Lestrange.
