when you look out any window at hogwarts, all you can see is a vast world of pure white snow. the footprints that were dented into the snow earlier had been filled in again by the falling snow from the sky. it was a beautiful wonderland in february, and with a little dash of magic, it was just a bigger treat. snowmen were built by the younger students, and the seventh years, along with the help of some teachers, all contributed to making life in the snow. the snowmen could move, speak and smile. they all had the same cheery and joyful personalities; the same personality that needed to stay at hogwarts. the school had been drained of life while it was on lockdown, and afterwards the atmosphere lingered. but slowly and surely, the colour of hogwarts was returning, and as a result, lessons had been canceled for students and teachers to enjoy themselves while they could.
this evening, the entire school sat down to a great feast in the great hall and for once in years, the hall became silent of voices and all that was heard was the scraping of forks hitting plates. afterwards, students were allowed their free time, and so one ravenclaw, pauline, hurried off to the library as soon as possible with three enormous books in her arms. pauline had used her free time to study, yes, study. friends and even foes of pauline wondered what she was up to, and they could see she was slightly worn out, but they had no idea why, things had remained fairly relaxed this month. but pauline refused, much to the irritation of her friends, to believe that she was working too hard. in actual fact she wasn't, she was merely interested in a small object she had come across with a friend in the neighbouring forest. a stone of some sort.
as she let her books thud onto the table she'd claimed, pauline began to venture back into her memories, something she was doing regularly now, and she recalled quite vividly the moment when she and noah drake came across the stone that was now in her pocket, her hand clamped around it tightly.
the two ravenclaws had wrapped up warm and snug for the journey that was waiting for them. they were both equally curious and anxious to see what had been lurking inside the forbidden forest. they'd both agreed to do it at night, so a great matter of sneaking was involved. luckily the two were experineced enough not to get caught, and they hurried over to the forest edge as quickly as their feet would let them. they stayed close together, arm in arm with their wands out ready for defence. they took turns in leading the way, and pauline was both excited and petrified. the cold was beginning to hurt the expoed skin on her face, and as they ventured deeper into the trees, pauline's breathing was becoming quicker and sharper, visible in puffs of air. the light from noah's wand was leading them when pauline came to an abrupt hault. something had glinted in the ground, reflecting off the light coming from the tip of noah's wand. pauline unlocked her arm from noah's, much to his disapproval, but she edged towards the place she'd seen the sparkle. it was right against a tree, and pauline leaned her arm against it as she bent down to its roots, and with a shakey hand, began to ruffle the leaves around until she felt something cold, sharp and smooth. pauline picked up a part of the forest that didn't fit at all. it was a small, diamond-like stone. paulined fumbled it in her fingers before turning around to noah, showing him her latest discovery. they left in a hurry from the forest, discussing the means of the stone and both concluded they would have to research this stone and what a triangle with a line and a circle inside meant.
pauline returned to the present; it was brighter and warmer than the forest, and as she thawed from her memory, a shiver ran down her spine as she sat up and looked towards the library entrance, awaiting the very person that shared her memory. noah.

The ruddy old owl landed squarely in the middle of his mashed yams. The yellow beak moved with a speed he had not anticipated, and clipped his finger. Crimson moved from the cut, and Noah had to fight off the urge to insert his finger into his mouth. He lifted his eyes and looked down the long table. Everyone seemed to be lost in the meal, but Noah's eyes searched for another set that he knew would be watching. He spotted her but could not make eye contact. He shook his head, removed the parchment from the small leg, and tried to force the owl out of his former meal. It seemed content with what it had stolen, lifted itself into the air, and was gone before Noah could unroll the paper. His denim eyes moved across the page, and he nodded to himself. Noah looked across the wide room and saw the small form of his girlfriend, the girl he was going to marry. She was talking to someone, and he could not catch her eye either. He sighed, pushed his plate away and settled for a drink of the pumpkin juice.
She wanted to meet him tonight. It had been weeks since the two had found the time to speak about... well, about whatever it was. Noah found that, even as so much time had passed, his curiosity was still strong. He would have to go to her, and find out what it was... what it meant... He closed his eyes and faded away.
The forest was vast; two small Ravenclaw students could get lost within the boundary of green. Noah had been inside on many occasions. He held the school record for holding the most detentions, so another trip out of bounds would not bother him in the least. Noah found that he wanted to see a werewolf, for no real reason but to say that he had seen one. Rumor had it that there was one within the school, yet Noah doubted this. How could one possibly keep up with lessons if they turned into a dog each full moon and ran naked in the woods? It was impossible. Still, Noah had to know. When there was a puzzle, he had to solve it. Noah was not at all surprised when Pauline searched him out, asked him to roam the woods, and did it with a style he had not witnessed from another Ravenclaw since... He pushed that thought out of his mind and decided to concentrate on what was at hand. The Forbidden Forest.
She was brave, in his opinion. However, he noticed that she was a bit nervous. Half of his mind thought it was because she was with him, alone in the dark; but then again, there had never been a romantic link between the two of them. She was pretty, but young. He did not know how she felt for him, or if she was connected with anyone. Standing in the middle of the forest was not really the place to ask such questions. There was a wide clearing ahead, Noah's eyes shifted upward to try to grab a peek at the moon. He knew it was bloated and full above them. His own heart began to race within his chest. He peered between the trees, and almost stepped out when he noticed she had stopped. He frowned at her smaller form as she moved away from him, her arm no longer locked in his. He could still feel the warm place where she had been hanging onto him. Noah did not get angry often, but walking away into the shadows at this moment was not a good idea. He opened his mouth to say something then realized she had spotted something.
Noah moved up behind her, his wand was on the ready, and watched her bend down beside an old tree. He moved around her to see what could have caught her attention. She turned and showed him what appeared to be a shinning rock. Noah thought it could be a ruby of some sort. He had seen several once when he visited his vault at Gringott's. However, this was the biggest ruby he had ever seen. They could be rich beyond belief if this was true. His logical mind pointed out several flaws in this theory. It was not ruby, there was some sort of vein in the center of the stone. Rubies are mostly solid. He lifted his eyes from the stone to Pauline. HI\is thoughts of werewolves forgotten in his curiosity over the stone. Noah motioned the way the came and nodded to her. The two Ravenclaws had researched the stone ever since. Pauline's little rock was such an enigma.
Noah came to with a snap. Someone had dropped a fork to his left. He jumped and glanced to his side. Wednesday Kerrison was smirking and watching him with a twinkle in her eyes. She was not mean to him outright, but there was a small amount of tension between the two. Of course there would be, he was engaged to the girl's twin sister. Noah rolled his eyes, and took another drink of his juice. He nudged Wednesday as he passed her. The feast was not over, but Noah would not be finishing tonight. His mind was set on something else, something that could only be solved by a visit to the library. He moved through the doors, and around the corner to the stairs. With a quick glance to make sure Peeves was not lurking, Noah took the stairs two at a time. He stopped on the next landing and snapped his fingers. He would need his notebook, and this laid on the bottom of his trunk in Ravenclaw tower. He shook his head, and ran off into the shadows.
By the time Noah made it back to the library the feast had finished. Students moved out in the halls and he had to move through the crowd. Noah did not see anyone he recognized so he was not stopped for casual conversation. The leather bound notebook was perched under his arm. He turned to the left, and took the stairs up to the library. As he entered with a friendly nod to the Librarian, Noah turned to see that Pauline was already waiting on him. She was in her normal desk, the one she claimed, and seemed to have made herself rather comfortable. Noah smiled, moved to join her, and spoke first. "Sorry, I had to run back for this. Been waiting long?" Noah placed the notebook in front of her, and moved to sit down. He smiled, and opened the cover.

There was great speculation weither Pauline and Noah were sharing a secret passion for one another, to which both denied with a smile. They definately shared a passion, but it was all in the name of science and knowledge. Pauline was always enthusiastic and egar to see Noah, having uncovered more about their precious treasure discovery. They would see each other often in the halls, and would slither through the mass of bodies to reach one another. This act of 'friendship' was frowned-upon by all who witnessed them, especially Noah's well-known girlfriend, Tusday. Pauline and the girl never really got on, and Pauline knew perfectly well why. Tuesday was obviously under some influence that Pauline had a certian likeness for Noah. It would have been civilised for Pauline to correct Tuesday, but why bother? The girl-friend had no right to interfere with what Pauline and Noah were up to, the bottom line was that they were strictly friends. End of story.
But it was absurd not to see how attractive Noah Drake actually was. In the past he'd actually distracted her from her train of thought, to which they both only smiled and carried on. The urge had no feeling to it, and Pauline would never want to jeapordise the comfortable and perfect friendship she already have with gambling her chances. Their friendship would remain simple and sweet. But there was always going to be an element of friction. Noah had something that Pauline wanted more than anything in the world. Love. She would see it in school, on the streets and on television, and each time she saw it, she would crumble just that little bit more. It wasn't as if Pauline had never tried dating some boys at school, she was actually quite certian that it would work. But to this day, Pauline is still alone, and gradually, all of her friends are finding their place with another. Pauline was losing hope. There was no science to Love, and there was no way of ensuring a person will get it. The only thing Pauline couldn't learn, and it was forcing her away from reality. She had been distracting herself by taking all of her free time and spending it at the Library, assisting the Librarian each and every night. It was rather conenient though, because the more time Pauline spent with books, the more oppartunities she had to find out about the stone she had posessed.
These days Pauline would do some research alone, she liked it that way, but it really wasn't the same without someone beside you, adding to that enthisuastic thirst for the truth of the mysterious find. The two Ravens had been able to scrape up some useful information, and it was slightly irritating; they couldn't invite anybody else to help them. What if this thing was valuable or dangerous? The word would get around and soon Pauline and Noah would only be hounded with questions or they'd be demanded to show the little object to the public's eye. That was why the two had vowed to keep their discovery a secret, and would only discuss it with the other, never with anyone else. And luckily, they had been able to keep everything hushed to the school. What they'd found out so far was that the thing they'd found was infact called a 'Ressurection Stone', or rather the Ressurection Stone. It was unique and there was no stone like it. The object had been traced back so many years, and it was just ironic when Pauline was flicking through her favourite children's bedtime story book that she found the match. Apparently the stone she and Noah had was astone that had vast powers; the ability to bring back the dead.
With this incredible breakthrough, Pauline had become very aware of what she was holding whenever she had it. If Noah ever took it, Pauline would wonder why. She wondered if the stone had a second power; the ability to possess anyone who touches it. This had turned into a question a few days back, and Pauline was anxious to know more. She even frowned at the walls infront of her as she waited impatently for Noah. Upon his arrival, Pauline's face smoothed a little, though her brow did not cease to furrow. Noah had sat down and explained his reason for being late, a notebook. Pauline sighed, rolling her eyes and lifting up her own scuffed and ink blotted notepad. "I have the exact same notes as you, e could have started by now." She sope with an almost whining tone, but Pauline was merely trying to push on by shutting up immediately, shoving some unnecissary books aside and hauling the ones she wanted forward. As she flicked through the pages of one small yet bulging book, Pauline took frequent glances to Noah. "I realized earlier that I hadn't updated you on the marble." They had a code word for the stone, Noah had renamed it after fiddling with his own marbles, and carelessly flinging the stone across the room. It was funny, how many little stupid memories stuck to the mind. Pauline reached for a thinner book and placed it infront of Noah, turning the pages to where a bookmark was. "Right, this is what I've found out. You should read this in your own time, but for now I'll just tell you now: The stone was made by Death - yes, I know it sounds barbarrick, but anyway - and Death gave it to a man called Cadmus Peverell. I actually found something interesting on the ....." And Pauline began to ramble about some silly facts that were going slightly off track. She had reached a sentence about Cadmus commiting suicide when she stopped, blinked and took a much needed breath. She looked at Noah with a confused gaze and said rather dazily, "What was I saying?".

He could only smile and listen to her as she continued to speak. Her words were excited, and he expected no less. She was always finding information before he could find it, and this was one reason he enjoyed being around her. She was intelligent, and amazing at digging out every small nugget of information out of some bleak, dark tome. She had a real passion for knowing things. Secretly, Noah felt she hated books. She could treat one like it was the opposition. The books had all the knowledge, and she wanted all the knowledge. She would push through the pages, almost as if a struggle to drain the book from each last drop of information she required. She had a vest, and was one of the fastest readers he had ever know. She continued to tell him about what she found as he fiddled with her notebook. He blinked when she paused as if she had lost her train of thought. Then he smiled, and tried not to laugh. He had seen her do this before, and had no idea how many times a pause such as this had lead to a case of the giggles. However, this time he did not allow those giggles to invade his line of thought. This was far too important to him. She had found out a lot, much more than he would have imagined. However, Noah was not without his own surprises. He had four words that could equal what she had just told him. He waited, not wanting to interrupt her if she found her train of thought.
She did not continue, so he nodded to her and turned his own notebook around so she could read it. He opened the tattered tome and pushed aside several pages. He stopped on a clean page. Well, it was clean minus the four words written in a rushed hand at the center of the left hand page. His eyes lifted from where he tapped the words to touch her own dark eyes. His smile almost faded a little as he looked at her. His thoughts moved back a year, before he met Tuesday Kerrison. He had been sitting alone in the Library, and Pauline had come in in a huff, and sat down. She had spilled her books all over the desk, and onto the floor. With one glance he could tell she was upset about something. Noah imagined all sorts of things, from a broken heart, a sick family member, a fight with a friend; his mind wandered in all directions at what could be the problem with her. Finally, he leaned over and whispered in her ear. He asked the question, and she looked at him sharply and answered. She had missed a question on her charms exam. One single question, and she did not even really miss it. She got a half mark for having the answer mostly correct. She had forgot one small influct of the wording of a color changing charm. Noah's mouth had dropped open, and his eyes lifted to hers. He had burst out laughing, and she had watched him as if he had suddenly gone mad. It did not take her long to crack into a smile and roll her own eyes at him. She laughed with him too, and he guessed she felt silly at being mad for missing such a little part of a question. Pauline was like that though, from everything Noah knew of her. He liked her for that though, oddly he did not know why.
Pauline was the type of girl who could be amazingly beautiful without even trying. He actually thought that she might not have ever even given thought to make-up, hair products, or anything that was overly girly. Sure, she smelled nice all the time, and she looked pretty ever single time he found her in the halls. But, Noah thought she never really tried, or cared for the attention it brought her. He could not remember ever seeing her with more than a casual date to a school event. He smile was dazzling. She could give you a look that would stun you, but Noah figured she did not even know she was doing it. Now, in the present day, she reminded him a lot of his girlfriend. Tuesday could smile and melt his heart, make him pool into emotions at her feet. Tuesday had no clue she had that effect on him. Pauline was the same way. She could get a look in her eye when she was reading something interesting, she could look at you over the book and grin, and that would be it. You would melt. And, she had no clue she could do that to a person. Noah wondered if anyone else knew this about her.
He pushed those thoughts to the back of his mind as she paused, and he realized he had not said anything about the words on the notebook. He brought back his smile, and nodded to her. He really was not sure where to begin, or if he should tell her where he got his information. She was sure to ask, because it was in her nature to know things. Noah would not be surprised if she would one day tackle him to the ground and force him to tell her such things. He did not think it would ever come to that, but he would not be surprised if it did. He smiled again, this time more for dramatic effect. He enjoyed making her wait, sometimes she would even squirm if he did not come right out and tell her what he knew. The stone had pushed a button inside her that turned on her curiosity. He knew she was a ravager of books, but she had never been like this about anything before. He could hardly keep up with her sometimes, but he never stopped trying. In fact, Noah felt there would never be a time when he did not try for her. Again, he tapped to words to make sure she had read them. Two of the words would be familiar to her, two of the words she might never have heard. However, the two words she would know would be words everyone would know. They were, indeed, very famous words. Noah moved his hand, pushed the notebook forward, and took her hand lightly into his. He placed her hand on the notebook, and moved on of her fingers to touch the first set of words. They were not so much as words as they were a name. A very famous name, one that had a little to do with the stone she held in her pocket at this very moment. Noah tried not to laugh, rubbed her finger for the briefest of moments, and then nodded once again. His eyes dropped to the note book, and there was written...

Pauline was constantly cramming facts and figures into her brain, there was never a day when she did not learn something new. She needed knowledge, because she truly had nothing else. She hadn't much of a sense of humor, she wasn't a party animal and she hadn't a hope in hell of finding anything close to a love interest. It was sad, but she expected no pity and merely kept quiet about her little fantasies. People often pondered if she was even a human being, she was often very strict and cold. Robotic with no emotion at all. But this was school, the only acceptable emotion was enthusiasm, enthusiasm for learning. A trait that Pauline had had ever since she'd picked up her first reading material.
Pauline felt rather empty when she was unable to answer a question or explain a complicated equation, but luckily this was irregular. But even with the fewest slip-ups, Pauline craved to learn everything. It wasn't because she wanted to be the best in the class, it wasn't even because it was 'just a hobby', she so many times defended herself with that statement. Pauline just loved to succeed, and at the moment, it was in exams and tests. She took pride in her collection of 'O's in her O.W.L's, and was now almost completely focused on her N.E.W.T's, and she would have been completely on the ball, had it not been for her find in the Forbidden Forest with Noah. Every now and then, she would become a little side-tracked.
Pauline back-tracked to the day when the two Ravens met, in this very place in fact. Figures. The Library had been claimed by them, they almost lived here and hadn't agreed to meet anywhere else. Of course they saw eachother in classes and during dinner and whatnot, and would smile each time they saw eachother's bright faces. They could have met in the common room for a change, but the Library felt right. They became friends here, and there was some sort of aura that hugged them where they sat each time they met here. And it had nothing to do with the fact that the books stacked in shelves held what Pauline wanted the most; facts. Pauline had found a true and reliable friend. They were hard to come by these days, people never stayed true to their word. It was saddening to see how trust had been forgotten in the modern society such as this. But at least Pauline had Noah. She was thankful for a friend like him and she was sure they would be friends for a long time, and if it was Pauline's choice, she'd be his friend until she took her last breath.
Noah and she had met on an evening to which Pauline despised ever since she left the Charms classroom in a strop. Missing out a question was a disgrace, she would look at herself and could only find the negatives, even in her appearance. That day was probably the worst in her life. But was it not arguable that it was one of the best as well? Pauline had come for closure to the Library, her habitat, and was set on burying herself in books, attempting to distract herself from the earlier incident. Things weren't going to plan at all when she arrived and dropped ever single one of her brick-like books on the floor, and not one person had volunteered to help. Tears sparkled in her eyes as she bent down and started picking them up. But then with one question whispered to her ear, Pauline looked at him for the first time and saw reassurance and safety. He showed some concern and a rush of affection came over Pauline for this stranger she'd only ever spotted in the common room. The rest was plain, she'd found a friend, the one thing she yearned for, for once before learning. Pauline was lucky to have a character quite like Noah.
She watched him as he got out his own battered notebook and flicked the pages to one in particular and brought it to her view. She read the words, or rather names very quickly, and then again slowly. She knew both names very well and looked over to Noah with a slight frown as she went into a deep thought, swimming through her brain to find an answer. With a sudden realization, Pauline's eyes widened as she flicked frantically through her notebook again, ripping one or two bits of pages as she did so. She came to a page that was titled in her own sharp handwriting 'Nicholas Flamel' and she rummaged into her small bag, almost stuffing her head into its contents as she emerged with a page-length scrap of paper that was titled neatly 'Harry Potter', and she handed both scraps to Noah and allowed him to analyze her studies.
Pauline waited for him with a smug gaze. "I'm sure Flamel is dead now, although Harry Potter, I believe lives a normal life. His children attend this school like us." She explained with an elbow resting on the table with her hand supporting her head. She waited again for Noah to suck in all the information, just like she had done. She watched her friend with a fondness that was somewhat more than just friendly.
