Humming gently to herself, Annie laid on the bed, tracing the lines on the ceiling with her amber eyes. She was bored, which was trouble to really begin with. quietly she stood, realizing that now the lockdown had been released, she was free to leave the damn castle. Since the release, Annie has spent as much possible time outside, and make up for lost time. There is only so much you can take of a certain place, or certain people. It was freezing out so she slid on some light boots, grabbed her favorite coat and headed out of the castle. The walk in itself was hard, but Annie knew her destination and she couldn't wait to get there. Pushing through large groups in the halls, Annie got more and more figidty, she was so tired of this castle... Her reputation preceeded her in all accounts. Every house knew of her, every person know that she was the 'badass' and 'lived in detention'. Anne was tired of it, she deserved a chance to be something else than others' gossip subject.
The air was crisp on Annie's nose, and she smiled into the cold wind. Not only was it her favorite season, but there was even some snow on the ground. The seventh year couldn't stand summer, all the idiotic bugs, though she had to admit, wearing shorts was a lot more fun. Annie looked around for any of her friends, but alas- she found none of them. Annie looked up to the sky and thought to where she should go, the lake perhaps? or maybe the quidditch pitch and practice some? Though Annie wasn't exactly a 'team player' she did rather love Quidditch and flying. Sighing in time with the song that played in her head, Annie looked away from the quidditch pitch and the lake. There would be too many people, too many students just as ecstatic as she is for the end of the lockdown. Annie wanted to press her boundaries, see how far she could go before she would turn back. Maybe she wouldn't even turn back.
Annie enjoyed the idea of never coming back, but the realism weaved in her mind understood that she had nowhere else to go. Her family would bring her back to hogwarts, not to mention she'd never go there anyway. How could she make money? Work in hogsmeade? It seemed too close to the school. There was no way she'd be able to do the things she wanted if she didn't graduated- it's the only leverage the teachers had on her anymore. Nontheless, Annie turned towards the forbidden forest. It seemed the most appropriate for someone like her, someone that pushed every boundary possible to try and just be herself and not have to mold to the world around her. She sat on very edge of the forest, very near to the gamekeeper's cabin. She dug a hole in the snow and stuffed her hands in her pocket to keep them warm. Breathing out and watching her warm breath rise up into the canopy of dead trees, Annie smiled slightly to herself--- "well, it is a pretty day."

The forest opening danced in front of him, and dirt flew up from his hooves. His long dark mane moved in the air looking cloud-like in the bright sunlight. His chocolate-dark eyes took in the full view of the trail he had just ran. He left tracks deep in the dirty path, but did not mind. No one ever trekked too far into this area, it was mostly the tract of land that marked the centaur domain. He was more than welcome here, as Silver was considered part of the clan. He kicked his front legs high into the air, let out a majestic snort, and landed at a small canter toward the spring stream. His tongue dipped into the icy cold water, and then his body shifted. Silver stood up and stretched. He enjoyed a run more in the late winter than he ever had in any other season. He felt alive, and free in this location. It was private, and no one ever bothered him in his small hut nestled deep in the dark woods. He moved on the path toward the opening that led to the large school on the other side of the forest wall. The cold air blew past him, and he reached into an opening in one of the nearby trees, and pulled out a long wool cloak. Silver attached it at the neck and pushed his arms through the openings as he walked on.
Silver moved from the woods, and moved around the round hut that belonged to the schools ground keeper. It looked as if there were no one home, so Silver thought to sit on the steps and wait. He often shared in long conversations with the ground keeper as they both shared a love for animals, and nature. He smiled when he heard the small footsteps approach, but then tilted his head to listen. The ground keeper's footfalls would be much deeper than these dainty steps. His curiosity pricked up almost as his ears might if he was standing in horse form. He glanced around the small hut back toward the opening he had just left and his eyes landed on a small form that took his breath away. His heart nearly cantered out of his thick chest as he gazed on the lovely form of a girl. She was not as old as he, but not much younger. She was a student, Silver knew most the adults that wandered the grounds, but he had not seen her before. If he had seen this one before, her image would have been imprinted on his memories, burnt into his heart from the instant his eyes set their glance on her. She was a vision of beauty, walking happily toward the dark woods. Silver was almost frozen in spot.
His trembling fingers moved to lift the hood of his cloak, and his feet shifted a little to the left to hide behind the large rose bushes beside the side steps of the old hut. The roses had long since been out of bloom, so the hiding place was ill-conceived. Yet, Silver could not help but remain behind them as he watched her. Her hair gleamed in the light, her cheeks were perfectly formed on each side of her soft face, and her eyes were the type a person could fall into and lose themselves for the remainder of eternity. Silver could not help but hold his breath. As bad as he wished to speak to her, to say something beautiful and clever as he thought she looked, he could not find any words at all the suited how she made him feel on this first look. He opened his mouth, and could only manage the exclamation: "The forest is out-of-bounds, you know?" His voice was a hush, a rippling whisper that was carried on the cold air between them. It was not the best words to share at the beginning of a conversation, and he blushed heavily as he realized how he had sounded. He could only hope he did not scare her away, and then lose her forever to the large castle beyond the trail.

Annie couldn't help but feel she was being watched after a few minutes. Though it wasn't a very strong feeling, she had this keen sense of adrenaline the kicked into gear when she'd think she'd get in trouble. Usually such things made her strive to push herself farther and win whatever was going to happen, but in this case she was a bit more cautious. As she was not only getting her millionth detention, but possibly facing a wild animal. She was a strong fighter, not amazing- but she could hold her own. She was tough in the way that she wouldn't let herself give in, an would fight until the death- in any real sense of the expression. She would fight for her life, or for another-- if it made much sense at all. So despite the feeling of being watched, she sat down on the cold ground and smiled at the cold forest around her. The harsh wind nipped at her nose and her eyes watered from the cold air, nonetheless- Annie was completely happy where she sat. The air, the sting of the wind, and the frozen numbness that seemed to flow through her body. Though it was beginning to become spring, Scotland has never really been one to heat up rapidly, and Annie was predicting rain at any time, as it always seemed to happen to her.
Annie nearly jumped out of her skin as, she was correct, a voice came from what seemed as nowhere. Her eyes immediately darted towards the area in which the voice bounded. They flashed dangerously in that direction- she wasn't usually a force to be reckoned with, but she held her tongue as her eyes caught a glimpse of blue eyes. A softspot of hers, unfortunately, she stood up, brushing the grass off of her jeans and raised an eyebrow at the man she deemed impossibly attractive. "I know," she told him shrugging and trying hard to act normal. Glancing at him sideways, "'it's dangerous, and students could die'..." she quoted the beginning of the year speech. "...but really what's to stop me?" She couldn't tell if it was the cold wind or a blush, but a red tint appeared on her cheeks after she'd finished. She was making a fool of herself in front of him. She was speaking too much, scaring him off... which usually she means to do... but not this time.

Silver's heart lifted up past his chest, and inserted itself into his throat. He had to swallow to remove the sensation of choking with every beat. However, his eyes remained on her even as he voice floated across the distance to land softly on his ears. Even the breeze could not distract him from gazing upon her, and he found himself needing to blink and look away so he would not seem too... well... he did not know. His mind did not think like it should, and all semblance of normalcy had escaped him in those few seconds. He smiled and looked down, his eyes dropping to glance at the ground between them. It was a shy motion, and a little air escaped his mouth as he blushed and looked away. Silver was horrible when it came to dealing with people, most of the time he hid himself away from the world. There was no place to hide, and Silver knew he had to respond. He inhaled, lifted his eyes to hers, and tried to answer.
He tried to find his voice, and it took a few stammering syllables to get going, "Well, nothing, of course. Nothing is to stop you, I know I couldn't. I am not a teacher, or anything for that matter. But if I let you go in, and harm came to you, I would never forgive myself. I do not think the world could stand to lose such beauty." His eyes went wide, and his hand lifted to cover his mouth. How quickly the words escaped from his lips when only on his mind a moment before. Silver did not know what to do, but his first instinct was to run away. His legs almost took him dashing into the forest when he realized that to do that he would have to go directly past her. He did not know if he could do that, his heart could not take a jolt of being close to her at this very moment. He removed his hand, and tried to say something intelligent. He wanted to say something that would cover up for the fact that he might have just made a complete and utter fool of himself. Alas, all that came from his mouth was, "I think you are beautiful." Following this was a loud gasp, a sharp contrast of red on his face, and his hand slapping his mouth once again.
Silver's eyes remained on hers, and he knew that any chance he ever had to get to know her, or even learn her name, had just been lost to him. Not only had he made himself into a blubbering idiot, he probably looked more creepy than the Caretaker taking a swim with the Giant Squid. For the record, Silver never intended to witness that event, but this is another story. He stepped back, and dropped his hand. With a few breaths he tried a small laugh. "I am sorry, sometimes my mouth overtakes my mind, and the words, they..." He trailed off and moved his hand in the air before him making his fingers look like a bird flying off into the heavens. He titled his head and looked back to the younger woman. His voice was as soft as silk when he spoke again, "Can we start again? My name is Silver. Silver Moonlight. Pleased to meet you." He gave a soft half bow, and smiled to her. Silver prayed to the stars that this covered up him acting like such a fool. {{Sorry it is a bit short, I hope you do not mind. I told you I would post on Saturday.}}

She tried to force herself to look away from his blue eyes, but it just made her heart pound a million times a second. He was absolutely stunning, his dark hair, his blue eyes, she couldn't stand it- looking away was the only chance she had at keeping her head. Annie wasn't like this, she was usually just friends with all the boys, rarely has she had any relationships before. People have told Annie that it was because she was unapproachable, which she could definitely see that, but she's never gone out of her way to date or to crush on anyone simply because it was a waste of time. She'd be out of hogwarts soon enough and on with her life, she didn't really need someone that would make her settle to be a housewife. All Annie's life she's been hearing about how she's to be the 'perfect lady' for whoever man was stupid enough to marry her, and she was so fed up with it. Being 'proper' and 'upstanding' were not her goals at life... and looking at the older and positively overwhelmingly gorgeous man ahead of her, Annie was trying to talk herself out of developing the instant crush she had on him. Just as she nearly closed the doors on the instantaneous crush, he smiled. Annie nearly felt her heart break, it was so beautiful.
Again, her mind was telling her to look away, regain control of her mind, but there was no hope. He spoke and she raised an single eyebrow at him, pursing her lips. Yes, it was good- this whole tough-girl look act, he wouldn't know that she felt like a fool in front of him. But that last sentence made her heart feel like it was fluttering too fast to speak and somebody dropped five bricks within her stomach. She swallowed, taking in his words. She was beautiful? A small smile formed on Annie's lips and she gave him a bashful and sweet smile. A pink tint spread onto her face and her ears felt hot, "Um, t-thanks?" is all she could utter out. Nothing came, not a compliment in return. Her mind was spinning, she hardly knew him and yet here she was going weak at the knees because he gave her a compliment. He seemed in almost physical pain from saying this and she really just wanted to tell him that it was alright. But Annie doubted she could do anything but stutter and mumble at this point. "Thank you," she said, looking him in the eye and smiling sweetly, "erm I think y-you're handsome, as well." She told the man, blushing so much she probably looked like a plum.
She ran a hand through her hair and looked away bashfully. Annie shouldn't have said anything, she was being silly. Ann didn't even know his name, and she'd maybe never see him again... why is she being like this? Around every other person, Annie was fine, she was sarcastic and witty and ... well, she was slightly unapproachable and harsh, but nobody really cared because that is who she is. But now, oh now- she's making a fool of herself in front of someone she actually finds attractive. She smiled slyly when he explained how his words just kind of took off, "It happens to the best of us," she reassured him, blushing at her own faux pas. His voice was one of the smoothest she'd ever heard and Annie felt hopeless in the presence of him, she didn't have any of the wit or charm she usually had and now she'd make herself a fool in front of him. Smiling broadly, Annie nodded, "Let's," she agreed, and stepped forward as if to put her hand out for him to shake, but stopped mid-step. It was something she learned a while ago from her mother and she felt embarrassed doing it now.
"Wow, that's quite an intriguing name," she commented, feeling her name not in anyway match up to his. "I'm Annie, Annie Charles," his half bow sort of surprised her, but she covered it up well. Crossing her arms over her chest and leaning up against the tree she smiled, "So, uh, what are you doing out here?" Annie asked him lamely, wincing slightly at her lack of conversational skills. "I, erm, mean I haven't seen you out here before?" Before she could ramble on like an idiot, Annie stopped here, she didn't need to go making a fool out of herself and 'start over' again. Her thin eyebrows knitted together and she pursed her lips. This whole conversation wasn't going well for her, Annie should just leave now before things got out of hand. Godric knew she'd go off and begin acting like the perfect lady she was meant to be, or even the little demon that shoved everyone away from her. Talk about a split personality....

Her words were like soft kisses tickling his senses. He did not know what it was about her that made him feel so young, so free, so alive. He only felt that way when he was running free through the fields. He had never felt this way around a person before, always shielding his heart in a thick layer so no one could touch him. He was afraid, he could not hide that face from himself as he looked at her. She was stunning, like a beauty he could never imagine. He had known beauty at one time, the beauty of inner peace he only found in solitude. And when he looked at her, that inner peace was not as beautiful as he remembered. She was more beautiful than anything he could ever imagine, more than anything he had faced in his life. He did not want to deny this to himself, but his fear moved into his heart like a dead vine seeking blood to survive. He glanced away, looking at the trail as she spoke. He could not believe her compliment of him. He never thought much of himself, nor did he think his name was anything more than a joke played on him by his parents. He smiled as she continued, but his thoughts were tucked deep into his idea of pain. And he winced slightly as he remembered... his own moments of pain.
Pain was a plant. A deep rooted emotion that you could not deal with sometimes. Everyone shared the same pain, sometimes different. However, you watered it with the same tears. Your burning hurt was the light it needed to sprout. Your memories was what it feasted on as it moved through the dark soil of your soul and blossomed brightly for the world to see. Those blooms often covered your eyes, made you blind to what was living past the leaves of hurt. You could try to prune those leaves back, even pull them out of their garden of your life; but, it never worked, they lived within you. It was hard to make your way through the garden that lived around the plants of pain. The distrust bushes, the suspicion trees, the weeds of fear that always tried to choke you, all lived around the plant of pain. Soon, before you knew it, the center of the garden was filled with stone statues of those hurtful memories. They watched over you as a constant reminder of why you grew this garden in the first place. Silver knew his garden was deep and wide, even if he had tried to make his way through the tangled jungle to the other side. His dark eyes blinked away the thoughts and he returned his attention to her. Silver wanted to thrash against his sadness, but it was there like a wall of green.
Yet, her light shined through the patches like a bright ray of hope. His heart beat faster like a drum against his chest. And he nodded to her, with a soft smile. She was just as nervous as him, and probably had her own inner garden to tend. Did that mean that neither of them deserved a chance to clean their gardens? Silver thought not, and was happy to have met her even in such a short time since he first laid eyes on her. He remained soft spoken, calm, and he spoke to her. "I live in there." He motioned to the woods. "I know, it sounds strange, but it is home to me. I come down to the hut sometimes, look around, steal a pumpkin, and have a drink with the Caretaker. I was offered position within the walls, but I am hesitant to be around so many people at once. I prefer it outside, in the woods, or a plain field. I like to run alone sometimes, er... that sounds strange does it not?" He almost laughed but it seemed like his lips reminded him that he was shy and the smile faltered slightly. He did not know how to explain his ability, even if it was not something as unusual as it seemed to be in his youth. He shrugged and stood up.
"I will show you, do not be alarmed." His voice was calm, relaxed, even if his heart was screaming inside of him. This was the most he had spoken in person to a female in a long time. Normally he only spoke with the centaurs, and the Caretaker. He pushed the thoughts away and his formed shimmered in the light. He sparkled, if only for a second, and his body moved into form. He was tall, his chest was wide. His color was a majestic chestnut brown, with white patches dancing across his lower legs around his hooves. His eyes were the same color as they were when he held his human form. Silver reared up, let his legs dance in the air, then settled down. He moved closer to her and nestled her shoulder lightly with his muzzle. He did not want to alarm her, and it never occurred to him that she might have a fear of horses. Those thought were far away from his comfort in this form, and his desire to have her see him as he was in life. He made a soft nose as he nibbled lightly at her hair. His mouth moved playfully as he tugged slowly, not trying to hurt her but to show her that he was alright. If a motion could tell someone that everything was alright, Silver hoped that it was the motion he just made to her. He bent a foreleg, and bowed in front of her. It was a deep bow of respect he reserved only for those he cared about. Then he nestled her shoulder again. If horses could smile, Silver was smiling.
