Her fist gently knocked on the door of the house belonging to her eldest son, and Ginny felt a wave of nostalgia. It was odd, being so... well, old. Of course, she knew that one day she would be - it was inevitable. But for the majority of her young life, she didn't think anyone was safe; being as old as she was now was something that they couldn't take for granted. However, being older did have it's pitfalls. She found herself slightly more tired than when she was younger - though Ginny supposed that was partly due to her insomnia, rather than her age.
Her insomnia, though, was due to her adult-size problems. Nothing she couldn't deal with, of course, but just... wow. Her babies were all growing up so fast - and doing such strange and dramatic things with their lives. Of course, with the return of a dark force in their world, this wasn't that surprising. However, Ginny had hoped that maybe her children wouldn't be as affected by Bellatrix Lestrange as she and Harry had been by Voldemort. Arguably, the Potter couple had been the worst effected by the former Dark Lord, and she only hoped that her children would be spared the same fate. More than that, though, she hoped that her husband would be spared that fate.
But none of that mattered, the old lady had to remind herself. Today wasn't about her, it was about Kelsey, and about Ginny's grandchildren. And so she waited for her daughter-in-law to answer the door, hoping today's visit would go well. She truly wanted to be part of Kelsey's life, and also a part of the babies'.

Her children were her life. Every time she looked at those two babies she felt her heart melt and felt a sense of belonging and love, for the first time in her life. Kelsey had always thought that she was not the mothering type. Often times when she was younger she could be found saying that she was never going to have children and that that type of life wasn't for her. She now knew how wrong she was back then. After the birth of her twins, the Ravenclaw felt as though she now had a purpose in life. She wanted to give these two babies the best home any child could have and make them feel loved. Before she felt like a lost soul on this earth, wandering around looking for some sense of belonging. Now she had something that made her have the will to live. She would make sure no harm came to these children. They were her life now.
Kelsey sat upon the couch, taking a moment to relax. The twins had been napping for quite some time now, giving the new mother a chance to clean and finish up chores around the house. She had finished everything and now had the chance to relax for a moment. Motherhood was defiantly harder than she thought it would be. It consisted of sleepless nights, dirty diapers and the sound of small infants crying. She thought at times that she would die from exhaustion. Sure, James helped out most of the time, but there was still two babies which required double the work. She knew all this was worth it though. She would do anything for those children.
Just as she began to fall asleep, Kelsey heard the faint cry of a baby coming from upstairs. So much for a moment of relaxation. Standing up, she headed up the stairs and into the nursery to see Mandee-Lynn laying in her crib crying. Her small daughter was always the one to cry and cry. She quickly looked over at Henry and saw him sleeping like a rock. He was like her and could sleep through anything. Sighing, she quickly walked over to the crib and picked up Mandee-Lynn, making soft cooing noises to try and calm her down. The noises helped a bit but did not make the baby stop crying. So, Kelsey did the only thing that she knew would cease this crying, she began to sing. She had always had an amazing singing voice but was always to scared to sing out loud, fearing that people would make fun of her voice. The soft sound of her rhythmic voice made the baby stop crying, which made Kelsey smile. She kissed the top of the babies head and then looked over at Henry, who was now awake and looking up at her with his big blue eyes. Henry only cried when there was something terribly wrong. He was strong like his father. Kelsey walked over to the crib and picked up Henry in her arms also, now carrying the two babies. She kissed the top of Henry's head before heading downstairs and back into the living room.
As she entered the living room she heard a faint knock on the kitchen door, which was separated from the living room by a wall with a round archway. She became confused as to who it was. Usually, the only people who came to visit her was her father, James' father and on the rare occasion her mother and when they did come they would usually just floo in or not bothering knocking, since Kelsey rarely locked the doors when she was home.
"Just a second," Kelsey sang out in her soft, sweet voice as she walked over to the two baby swings and set each of the babies in them. She smiled, handing them each a teddy bear to play with before heading through the arch way and into the kitchen. Quickly, she opened the door and her eyes landed upon Ginny Potter, her husband's mother. Kelsey smiled, seeing the grandmother to her children. She had always liked Ginny. She thought that she was a strong and loving woman with a power about her that could make any person feel confident just by standing by her.
"Mrs. Potter, what a lovely surprise! Please come in," Kelsey said with a huge smile on her face, walking away from the door to allow Ginny to enter. Though she had cleaned earlier, there was still a bit of a mess about, showing random baby items such as blankets and teddy bears around the house. She was going to pick those up before the twins woke up but never got around to it.
"Please excuse the mess. You know how messy things can get when you are looking after children," Kelsey stated, laughing lightly at her little joke. "I assume you are probably here to see the twins. They are in the living room, swinging away," Kelsey finished, flashing another smile towards her mother-in-law before heading into the living room. She looked at the twins and smiled, seeing the smiles on their faces as they swung back and forth in the magic swings and played with their teddy bears. Kelsey took a seat on the couch and waited for Ginny to follow her.

While she knew that things were hectic with the babies around, Ginny found she had forgotten just how exhausting children were. She was instantly reminded by the look on Kelsey's face. "Ginny," She reminded, "I'm not old enough to be called Mrs. Potter." Ginny teased, though she was well aware - especially at the moment - of just how old she truly was. It wasn't that she was trying to be young - heck, Kelsey's mother was pregnant! Even Ginny wasn't trying that hard to be young - she just didn't like feeling so old; especially being the youngest of her own family, it seemed so strange.
"I'm not only here to see them," She added as she stepped inside, "I do have a daughter and son who live here as well. Maybe you've seen them? She recently had twins, he plays quidditch and drinks altogether too much?" She joked, unbuttoning her coat and removing it gracefully before shoving the scarf into the sleeve and hanging the whole affair over a chair in the kitchen. "How are things, other than messy?" Ginny found herself asking, glancing about. When James was born, she was much more disastrous than this, but she didn't mention it, since Kelsey hadn't asked for her help.
While Ginny was very much a career woman, as the only daughter of Molly and Arthur, she had also been domesticated, in a sense. She'd learned to cook and clean by the time she was off to Hogwarts, and the spells were stuck in her brain as if by sticking charm. All in all, she would make a great housewife - if the idea of it didn't bore her to tears, that is. "Do you need anything? A lending hand? An ear? A shoulder to cry on?" She offered jokily, though Ginny was one hundred percent serious on all her offers.

Kelsey was glad that she had a mother-in-law like Ginny. Ginny was very kind, sweet and someone Kelsey felt comfortable talking to. When she found out about the marriage, she did not flip out like her own parents had, which was good for Kelsey. She knew that she could not handle another blow out like her parents had done. Hell, her father, Robert dearest, had chased James and even tried to kill him. It just made her realize how crazy the LeBlancs really were. Contrary to the reactions of Robert and Mandy, Harry and Ginny had not flipped out or tried to kill Kelsey when they had found out about the marriage. She knew that she need not to worry when she was around James' parents. They were far kinder and more easy going than her own.
"Fine then, I shall call you Ginny. Though it still seems weird to me to do so," Kelsey said, chuckling a bit. She was rather close with Ginny but did not feel really comfortable yet with calling her by her first name. It was just weird to her. Before James and herself had gotten married, Kelsey had only met Ginny once before. She was around 13 years old at the time and was in Diagon Alley right before school was to start. She had been picking up school supplies when she had spotted a 14 year old James with his mother. Seeing as Kelsey and James had been best friends since her first year at school, it was only natural for her to run up to James and give him a hug. After she had given James said hug, she had spotted Ginny and looked down, her face turning red, seeing as she was a very shy child.
See, Kelsey had not really grown into her looks yet. She had had red frizzy hair, white pasty skin, freckles everywhere, was a little on the chubby side and was starting to get pimples. Her appearance alone made her feel a little bit shy but there was also the fact that ever since her forth year, she had had the biggest crush on James ever. She didn't know what it was about him but she found herself totally head over heels. Sadly at that time, James did not feel the same way. He was too busy going after all the more older and prettier girls to even bother thinking of Kelsey in that way. It broke Kelsey's heart but she had learned to live with it.
"Oh yes, I have seen them. One of them is gone off to save the world by playing quidditch and the other is defending off the great poopy diaper army," Kelsey grinned, chuckling a little bit. It felt nice for once to joke around and laugh. Things were getting far too serious in her life and she just needed a break to laugh and have fun. She was thinking that maybe her and James, after the children were just a little bit older, could go on a little weekend get away or something just so they could have some nice relaxing alone time while the twins were at one of their parent's house.
"Things are very good. The twins keep me busy, that's for sure but I think I have finally got the hang of going to school and taking care of them. Though I am still a little behind in my school work but that's nothing I can't handle," Kelsey said, a small smile on her lips. It felt nice to have someone to talk to other than the babies or James. She had very few visitors while she was here and it was starting to take it's tole on her. "But enough about me, how are you?," she asked with a smile towards her mother-in-law. She had heard that things between Ginny and Harry were not that stable and she really hoped that they figured it out because face it, if a couple like them couldn't last in this crazy and messed up world, what hope was there for herself and James?
"Oh no, I don't need a shoulder to cry on today. Could have used you yesterday though. The babies were really fussy and wouldn't stop crying the whole day. I almost pulled my hair out. Luckily though, they are quiet today," Kelsey stated with a small smile at Ginny. Suddenly, she began to hear the small crying sounds of one of the babies. She snapped her head towards where they were and saw that they teddy bear had fallen on the floor and little Mandee-Lynn was crying. "Spoke too soon," Kelsey chuckled as she got up and walked over to the swings. She picked the crying infant up in her arms and then picked up the teddy bear, taking both of them back to the couch with her and sat down. She began to try and make the child stop crying, rocking her back and forth and making soft cooing noises. Sad thing was, once Mandee-Lynn started crying, it took hours to make her stop.

Ginny smiled a little sadly. She wished that she and Harry were in the same stage of life that Kelsey and James were; she wished that they were happier. Of course, it was her own fault, she was the one who left abruptly and came back without telling him she was going to. But that didn't make it any easier - there was just too much distance (emotionally) between them for Ginny to get past. Besides that, she was a wreck about the mess her children had become. Lily was awol, James was an alcoholic, Albus hated Harry, and Ru... well, Ru was positively psycho. Kelsey, apparently, was the most sane person in Ginny's family, and she was married in!
With a small, tentative smile, Ginny followed to the couch, sitting down next to Kelsey and reaching for the baby nearly absently. Taking the crying infant into her arms, she rocked the little girl back in forth as she spoke to Kelsey; "Some days I feel like I could use a shoulder to cry on, it's been a really rough few weeks. Or months, depending on how you want to look at it. We've really made a mess of things, and I'm not sure how to fix it. Or if I can fix it." She said quietly. It was odd, she'd not voiced these things to anyone - not even Harry, who was the one she should have been talking to.
The baby in her arms made Ginny smile, despite her solemn words - they were such bundles of joy, such a perfect addition to the family. They were brought into the world that had a lot of fear and misery, much like when Harry was born, and somehow they managed to be a light in Kelsey, James and all the Potters' lives. If only something so simple, so perfect, could come along to remedy all the problems that Ginny and Harry had.

Kelsey wished James was around more. Quidditch was starting to become very demanding and it often took him out of the country a lot. She knew that he was living his dream and she didn't want him to give it up but it was getting hard handling the babies on her own. Kelsey's mother had warned her that James would probably do this to her. Dear old Mandy LeBlanc never did have any faith in James at all. Kelsey rarely voiced what she thought about James being away. She just kept it to herself and hoped that it would all go away.
Kelsey had passed the baby along to Ginny, sighing as the infant stopped crying a bit. Why was it that she would never stop crying for Kelsey but as soon as she was passed off to another person she would stop. It was really starting to take its tole on her. There were dark circles around her eyes that she strategically covered up with makeup. She had lost all her baby weight plus some more from all the late nights of looking after the twins and rarely eating. She felt like she was breaking down inside but as usual she hid it with a smile and never told anyone how she felt.
"You guys can fix it. There are no two people more perfect for each other than yourself and Harry. He loves you, he really does," Kelsey said with a small smile. She walked back over to the swings and picked up Henry, smiling down at him. He was so much more quiet than Mandee-Lynn which was good since Kelsey would not be able to handle two crying babies at once. "If my parents can stay together after all they have been through then so can you and Harry. I mean, my parents both cheated on each other and they still managed to put that aside and be together again. If they can do it, so can you," Kelsey said with another soft smile towards her mother-in-law. She looked back down at the baby in her arms, noticing that he had fallen asleep. She smiled and sat down on the couch, keeping the baby in her arms and just holding him. Those babies saved her life and she would love them forever and ever.
"If you and Harry can't stay together after all you've been through together, there is no hope for me and James," Kelsey spoke softly, her eyes looking at Henry. It was true. Ginny and Harry had been through everything together and they still stayed together. It was the perfect romance. If they would break up after all of that, James and Kelsey didn't stand a chance. That is what Kelsey feared the most. She didn't know what she would do without James. He was her everything. The only thing that saved her from killing herself all those years. They both loved each other but the question was is love enough to make the relationship work?

"You'll be fine," Ginny assured immediately, "And so will we." The former, she was more sure of. Of course, it was exhausting to be married to someone who was away so often - Harry was a testament to that, especially when Ginny had been on the Harpies - nay, captain of the Harpies. It was shortly before James was conceived and Ginny was literally never home. She loved every moment of it - the team was like a group of sisters that she otherwise never would have had. Until then, she hadn't known the comradeship that girls could have; the only female friends she'd had before that were Luna, Hermione, and Tonks (rest in peace).
But still, being away so often had taken its toll on Harry and Ginny's relationship, and she would be the first to admit that it was her fault. She'd come home one particularly long night to Harry and a bottle of her favourite vintage wine, and that was when they started their family - that was when Ginny realized that family was more important than quidditch. She considered telling Kelsey the story, but then again, her children had to figure things out for themselves; they needed to learn those lessons in their own time, just like she and Harry had.
She'd been devastated when she left the Harpies - she was distraught about the decision for a month before she even spoke to anyone about it, Harry included. It was her own decision and she didn't want anyone else interfering with it - but it tore her apart to make the choice. Ginny had known, at the time, that it was the right thing to do. Looking down at the baby in her arms only cemented the rightness of the decision; she wouldn't have grandbabies and she wouldn't have Kelsey if she had put off her family life at the time of her decision.
"He'll figure himself out - he'll decide what's most important," She said quietly, making eye contact with her little princess of a granddaughter as the baby stopped crying and smiled. "Because you three are very important - which I'm sure he notices more and more every second that he's away." Ginny explained, grabbing the teddy bear from where Kelsey had left it and playing with it and Mandee-Lynn with a content smile on her own face.
Her smile was not indicative of her inner turmoil, but worrying Kelsey wasn't something she wanted to do. While Ginny knew the younger woman was putting on a brave face, it was obvious that she was stressed, and Ginny wasn't going to add to that, if she could help it. Her issues with Harry were just that - issues with Harry. Kelsey likely couldn't help even if she tried, so there was no reason to worry her.

Kelsey really did hope that everything would be fine. Everything was going good lately and she didn't want anything bad to happen anymore. She used to be very wild and out of control but now that she was a mother she calmed down a lot. She no longer drank, well as much. She used to drink almost every single day. Now she only drank once in awhile and not as much as before. She had told her father that she had quit completely but that was just a lie. She didn't feel like getting a lecture from her father about how she shouldn't drink. Merlin knows she already had that lecture about 20 times since Robert had decided to quit drinking himself. It's like since he can't do it, no one can.
Kelsey sighed. "I sometimes wonder if we are going to be fine. I love James with all my heart but when he is away and I am here alone with the babies, I wonder if he even cares that I am handling the kids by myself," Kelsey sighed, still looking at Henry. She knew it was probably the lack of sleep talking. She barely got any sleep in days and it was just draining everything out of her. To add onto that, her whole horcrux thing took away any energy she may have. Kelsey wondered if Ginny even knows that she is a horcrux. She knew Harry knew but was not sure if he had told his wide about the condition of her knew daughter-in-law. She was getting visions of Bellatrix more and more inside of her head, especially when she would go days without sleep. She didn't tell anyone that the horcrux was acting up. She didn't want to worry anyone, especially her father.
"I miss him when he is away. We used to never go a day without seeing each other and now its more like we see each other every three days if we are lucky," She sighed again, kissing Henry's forehead. Whenever she missed James she would look at Henry. He looked so much like his father it was crazy. It was the only thing that would get her through the day whenever she was missing her husband. Before the twins, whenever she was depressed she would drink. Now, whenever she was depressed she would cry. There were many days when she would sit there, crying along with the babies, trying to get both herself and the infants to calm down.
"Don't take any of this seriously. It's probably just the lack of sleep talking. I only got about an hour or two last night. Mandee-Lynn kept me up," She said, smiling softly. A small yawn escaped her lips as she got up and walked over to the small day crib she used for when one of the twins fell asleep during the day. She placed Henry inside the crib, smiling down at him before stretching her arms in the air, yawning yet again. Maybe, if she was lucky, James would come home tonight and it would give her time to sleep. He can stay up with the babies for once.

Ginny smiled at her daughter in law, then decided what she would do. "You wouldn't mind if I took the twins for a night, would you? I don't mean to push, but I would love to spend more time with them." She smiled, glancing surreptitiously between her granddaughter and daughter-in-law. Sure, it was a bit of a trick, but the words were true; Ginny did want to spend more time with the little ones. Essentially, her plan was what was best for both of them. Kelsey would have some time to herself, Ginny would have some time with the children as well as a distraction from her own life... there was really no downside. "I'm not taking no for an answer." She said decisively, with a firm nod of her head.
Ginny was not fun to argue with, and she knew this. It was for this reason that she hoped Kelsey would simply agree to her demands - they both knew the older woman wouldn't back down, and Ginny wasn't in the mood for a fight (even if she knew she was definitely going to win it.)
She cradled Mandee-Lynn against her chest, rubbing the little darling's back as she drifted off to sleep and Ginny stood to put her in the play pen with her brother. "Hey, maybe I'll take them now - I can make you an appointment with my hairdresser, and you can get a massage beforehand..." She grinned, pleased with her ideas, "I didn't discover the joy of doing those things until Ru was born - but if I had known how much help just a couple of hours of pampering could be, I would have been doing it all along." She explained.
