She’d made a mistake. A mistake she would regret. It shouldn’t have been a surprise though. It seemed like lately she was constantly making mistakes. Let’s go back to before this mistake though; back to her thoughts, her identity. Identity is important for young adults. It gives them a sense of self-awareness and a motivation. It helps decrease confusion and that little lack of self-esteem or confidence. A lack of identity can be a cause for what appears to be multiple personalities, bipolar disorder, or simple (but sometimes extreme) moodiness. Reece Deity thought she was very self-aware and knew who she was, what she believed, and what she wanted. She was so sure about everything…until recently. All through her years at Hogwarts she had bounced around, constantly changing, but she’d always (or at least ALMOST always) had a set of morals or personal beliefs. She didn’t sleep around (and that’s not to say she didn’t have sex, because she DID). After all, who doesn’t have a few drunken nights? Or intense relationships. Her family was extremely important to her and she would kill for them if need be. But her biggest conflicts within herself were her desire to not be like her parents, and with her own “political” affiliations. In her desire to not be like her parents, Reece unwittingly became just like her mother had been at Hogwarts. Like her mother, Reece had constantly changed between her support for the New Dark Lady and the Order. Some part of her wished to be a part of the New Dark Lady’s movement, possibly because she felt it would lead her to answers as to what happened to her father, or what mission he had been on at the time of his disappearance. It was not unknown to Reece that her mother, Audrey, and her father, Adam, had been deep in the Dark Lord’s circle at the time of his downfall. But there had been times, Reece knew, where Audrey had been a double agent. Reece had no clear idea of where her parent’s true allegiances lie. Part of her was very against the Pureblood movement and she wished to do all she could to help the Order. It was this part of her that blamed the Movement for her father’s subsequent disappearance. In her travels over the last two years, in her search for the whereabouts of her father and beloved brother, Reece had tried to find any clue that would hint at the truth of the matter and perhaps give her a sense of identity. So she had packed up her life, left behind her love, her friends, her schooling, everything, and traveled. She went all over Europe following potential clues, through Egypt, even to the United States. For two years, she travelled and searched, struggled and learned, only to end up back at Hogwarts. The last clue had led her back here and she took advantage of this to finish her last year. But none of this helped her with her confusion on her identity. Which “side” was she on? She didn’t know. Did she really care? Sometimes. Who was she? Clarice Lynn Deity, known to most as just Reece. But that’s just a name. Who was she really? She didn’t know. Was there something special about her? She was brilliant. And she was beautiful. She was able to exude confidence even if she had none. Was there something wrong with her? She was cursed. Well, not really cursed, but that was how Reece saw it. Her mother called it a gift, but Reece didn’t think she would ever see it that way. Her mind was a pensieve, a living pensieve. She could touch objects or people and literally suck up the memory or memories in it. It was what she called a memory transfer. She could store these memories and call them back up, if necessary, but she could never get rid of them. They were permanently recorded in her brain. The biggest problem for Reece, though, was that she had no control over it. She never knew if or when a transfer might occur. The easiest way was physical skin contact, the most direct link. But a transfer didn’t occur every time, and she couldn’t realistically avoid physical contact with everyone and everything. For that she would have to literally live in a bubble. Sometimes she could walk into a room, pass a person or area with memories so strong that she was bombarded with it as an autonomous transfer occurred, usually resulting in her passing out. Was that her identity? Was that who she was? A memory thief? No…no, it wasn’t her fault. She didn’t have a choice. But it wasn’t a complete curse, right? She learned a lot from some of the memories. But it was definitely a burden. And it didn’t help that Hogwarts was now on lockdown and she was trapped in the castle with no opportunity to get away. It was going to be very difficult to avoid memory transfers now. These were the thoughts that led Reece to be traipsing the hallways and led to the mistake. She was walking down a staircase and was so lost in her thoughts that she lost her footing and started to fall. Her mistake, therein, was to grab onto the banister, rather than to just let herself slip. As soon as her hands gripped the banister, Reece was thrown into the memory of some student. It was like falling into a whirlpool and having no control. She felt her mind being thrown around and then suddenly everything went still. She watched the memory of a young girl in pain, suffering. The girl was crying and a Slytherin boy came up to her and started taunting her. Reece could feel the girl’s humiliation and sadness, bringing tears to her own eyes. Reece hated this so-called gift, so she shut her eyes and then felt the world spinning again as she was returning to her own reality. When she opened her eyes she realized she was slumped at the bottom of the staircase and realized that there was someone standing over her. .. It is unbelievable how friendship can turn into affection. Jake remembered the time he was with Lisa. She was his childhood friend and then they almost ended up in a bed together. They weren't a couple for long, though. They both were too unfaithful to stick with each other. So they became friends with benefits but Lisa had a boyfriend now and it seemed to be something serious. No doubt, the guy was the dark lord himself. Young Blackwell remembered the very first time he had met his ex girlfriend Carina. It was on the Hogwarts Express during his first trip to school. He's been sitting in one of compartments with other first years he met on the platform in London. Funny story actually because they all had been sorted to Slytherin later that day. But why did he leave that compartment? It's simple. He made a rude comment about Lisa's fairy red or maybe pink hair and she turned him out of there. He didn't know she had them from birth. Even though they met before first day of school he didn't know yet that her father was a metamorphmagus and that she inherited just an odd looking hair color. Being turned out of the compartment Jake had to look for a free seat and he found an empty compartment. Well, not really empty because there was one little girl sitting alone. Of course it was Carina herself. He asked her to sit, she didn't mind so he did and it was how they met. And now it was Kat who became someone more to him than just a good friend.
Of course Jake's mind should have been focused only on Kat right now. But it slightly went to one of his sisters. Yes, he loved his sisters but sometimes he was very annoyed with the little one. Every time he had a girlfriend, little Ms. Blackwell tried to ruin his relationship. She just thought that girls he dated weren't worth him, yes. But he couldn't understand why she liked so much messing up with them. Those girls always felt very uncomfortable as they met her. It was really funny for her when she called them by his exes' names and then explaining to them she couldn't remember all their names because he had so many. Jake found out about it and got angry. His little sister had to come to his other sister for safety. And that in order was funny for the second one. Oh how much they liked teasing with him. Why did his damn father have to make child with other woman?! Stupid affair! Now he had to deal with two young women in his life. Well, he already was alright with it but it was very hard for him to accept it when he was 11. Because of appearance of his half-sister he didn't want to go to Hogwarts with her, so he went a year later. He didn't want anyone to think they were twins or something while she was just a result of an affair. He didn't like his half-sister at first but now it was different. He accepted her into the family and loved her as if she was there from a beginning. And after many complications, arguments the three of Blackwell siblings were very close to each other. With all differences they were still alike.
He needed a stroll, a long stroll in the castle walls hoping he would not get caught by any teacher or prefect. But who knew, maybe he could use it on his good somehow. Maybe he could mess up with someone too. He did nothing exciting since he got depressed previous year. And breaking rules was always his thing. Sadly, hurting people he liked or even loved was his thing too. So seeing one of his friends at the floor in the end of the stairs he just laughed. And to add some more to the fire he used a name the girl at his feet hated. "Now, now, Clarice. What are you doing on the floor just in front of my feet?"

Reece had opened her eyes to find a person standing over her, and as her eyes trailed from the feet up, she found a familiar face. It was Jake. She grumbled softly to herself as she sat up and leaned against the banister, wincing in pain as she felt the bruises which would soon form. Part of her was glad to see that it was her friend and not some stranger who had found her. That would have been a bit humiliating but Jake had found her passed out in a crumpled heap after a memory transfer a few times already. Although, he didn’t know why she had been passed out. She had made up some excuse about migraines that were so bad they caused her to pass out. She thought he believed her, but she had no real idea if he did believe. ’Now, now, Clarice. What are you doing on the floor just in front of my feet?’Reece’s eyes flew to his face and she felt her anger boiling up. Nobody called her Clarice unless they had a death wish. Her green eyes turned dark as she glared at him. She hated being called Clarice. It just sounded so prissy and well, frankly, she wasn’t prissy. ‘Reece’ fit her better. Reece jumped to her feet and in a flash had pinned Jake to the wall, her hands at his collar. Rage was building up in her and she spoke through gritted teeth, “Wanna run that by me again, Blackwell? Do you really have a death wish?” He had made a mistake by calling her by her real name. But then she herself had made another mistake. After a memory transfer, Reece was always left weak, feeling dizzy and barely able to stand. She always had to stay on the ground and rest for a couple of minutes to regain her composure and strength. But in her anger at being called ‘Clarice’, she had forgotten this. So as soon as the words were out of her mouth, the world started spinning and everything started to go black. Reece crumpled to the floor at his feet…again. Jake already had a pleasure to see Reece faint. First time he saw it he claimed it as nothing serious. Well, passing out was girls’ thing, right? But then he heard she did it regularly. He thought maybe she was sick or something. Reece even told him she had migraines. And at first Jake believed her. Then though, when it started to be pretty suspicious, Jake started doubting they were just extremely painful headaches. He never really asked, though. He thought that maybe when the right time comes, she will tell him herself. If there was a thing Jake Blackwell was good at, it would be keeping secrets.
A smirk that curved boy’s lips simply disappeared, leaving a way for a little surprised expression as his Slytherin friend suddenly jumped to her feet. She took him by surprise. He didn’t expect her to be that mad at him just because he used the name girl loathed. So Jake found himself pinned to the wall behind him with Reece’s hands at his collar. Woah, it was a mistake, he couldn’t deny it but he just wanted to tease her some. Jake just looked at his blonde friend raising his brow in question. He wanted to say: 'Calm down, love. It was just innocent taunt.' but he didn’t have enough time to do so because his thought were replaced by worried and caring ones.
She did it again. She found herself at his feet again. This time Jake decided to get off the wrong way he stepped on today. Yes, he was in the mood to mess up somebody’s life a little bit, but it was Reece, his friend, a girl Jake sometimes felt attracted to. He stepped off the wall and stopped on girl’s right side, then took a seat on the floor beside her. He looked at her worriedly and held out his hand. He rubbed her arm gently and spoke up. "Look, I’m sorry. Now, I guess you should tell me the truth this time." OOC; ok so i decided to keep him for now. But really his muse sucks -.-
