out in the backwoods working hard for a doller in the backwoods yeah we get it done right jason jeremiah nottwork hard, play hard, hold my baby tight Jason Jeremiah Nott sat in the RavenClaw common room. He looked out the window thinking of Eleni. A frown came upon his face as he thought about her he moved away from the window to the big comfy couch in the common room. It was late and he was in the common room alone. Everyone else was asleep in the dorms. He knew he had to stop thinking about her or at least not as much. He couldn’t help it though. He had loved that girl. That girl he was planning on proposing to a few months after she was killed. He took out the case with the ring he had bought. He was just thinking of how to give it to her.
The only one who knew he had made this decision was his bestfriend Michael Finnigan. Staring at the ring a tear fell down his face. Then more came. Soon he was crying like a baby. His back was to the staircase that led to the dorms. He had to get his self under control. What if someone came down from the dorms. He looked back at the ring. Now he had an engagement ring and no Eleni to give it to. He had to get revenge though. He was going to kill that Sethos guy that did this. Jason would make him pay for this pain he felt and for the pain Eleni felt when the man killed her.
He took another look at the ring. He wondered if she would have liked it. Taking a deep breathe he put the ring back in his pocket. He had no idea why he carried it around with him. He should just sell it back to where he got it from or sell it to a pawn shop or something. He had to do something with it. He couldn’t keep carrying it with him. It was carrying her with him and as much as he didn’t want to he had to let her go. It was bad for him to keep her with him like this. Unhealthy. He didn’t even flirt with girls that much anymore. Not like he use to when he was single.
He left the common room. He didn’t care if he got caught at the moment. Walking down the staircase Jason stared at the portraits. Reaching the bottom of the staircase he walked out to the grounds. It looked good out here at night. He walked to the tree where had and Eleni liked to sit at. He stared at the lake wishing that this hurt would go away. He had shut himself away from a lot of his friends. Especialy his bestfriend. Jason just stared at the lake thinking. lord have mercy it’s a real good life in the backwoods Words: 455 Outfit: jeans and a shirt Notes: i like pickles!!!! .I try to laugh about it, cover it all up with lies I try and laugh about it, hiding the tears in my eyes 'Cause boys don't cry. Michael had just been descending the stairs of the boys' dorms when he'd seen Jason leave. Unable to sleep and craving a cigarette, he followed suit. The fresh air (if they were indeed going outside) would most likely only wake him up further rather than help him fall asleep, as was his wish, but Mike couldn't contain his curiosity concerning his friend. There was without a doubt a reason Jason was departing the Common Room--and it was probably a severe one. So Mike quietly made his way after him, not wishing to let Jason know that he was being pretty much stalked until he got a clue what was going on in the other boy's head. Soon they were outside, and Jason was sitting before the Black Lake, gazing into it. Clearing his throat, Mike decided it was time to make his presence known. "Hey buddy," he greeted, plopping down next to his fellow seventh year. "Hey, is something wrong?" Stupid question, because from the expression on his face and blank way he was staring at the lake, Michael could tell exactly what the issue was. He had been best friends with Jason for a long time, after all. There was silence for a few moments, and Michael pulled out a cigarette and put it in his mouth, letting the other Ravenclaw know from between his teeth, "Hope you don't mind that I followed you, man." He shrugged, pulling out a lighter and lighting it. "But I was coming out for a smoke anyway."It was better to get to talking about the issue on Jason's mind gradually than just diving into it. That would only cause more pain than he was already feeling. No, Michael was going to take his time in bringing up the issue of Eleni's death--Eleni's murder--not that Jason wasn't all ready thinking about it. But still. In cases like these, subtlety was a must have. Mike could see the still fresh tears on his best friend's cheeks.

out in the backwoods working hard for a doller in the backwoods yeah we get it done right jason jeremiah nottwork hard, play hard, hold my baby tight Staring out at the lake was peaceful. He heard his friend before Michael made himself none. He wasn’t the best at sneaking up on someone. In a dry voice he said If you are trying to sneak you are so not good at it. As usual with him lately there was no humor in his voice. The laughter was gone. Yeah he would laugh a little bit. Really though there was no humor in him except when he was around Aidyn. He turned to look at his friend when Michael asked him a question. Yeah man life effin sucks he said. Sighing he then said Whats the point really Michael in living. You live then you die but whats the point.
Making some whiskey appear out of thin air. Jason didn’t usually drink. Lately though he seemed to break that promise he once made. He took a sip and sighed making a face. Good stuff Michael he said looking at Michael. Jason shrugged. Why would I mind. I am not your boss so he said taking another swig of his drink. By the way smoking is bad for you he said with a smile, but as always the smile never reached his eyes.
Jason then looked at his friend. He knew what Michael was really out here for. Jason wasn’t the brightest crayon in the box, but he wasn’t a moron either. Jason just looked at his friend and said Forget the crap Michael I know why you are out here. I am not an idiot. Even if I do act like one sometimes. That was what Eleni had told him a lot. She also wondered how he had ever managed to get into RavenClaw. Said he was better suited for HufflePuff or Gryffindor.
Looking down fresh tears fell down his face. Why he couldn’t let go of her he didn’t know. He took a huge sip from the whiskey. He would drown her memory away if he had to. If that was what it took to move on. He knew that was what Eleni wanted was for him to move on. He couldn’t figure out how. How could he do that. He took the box from his pocket again and looked at the ring that he still carried around. How am I suppose to let her go Michael he asked crying. He really had no idea how to do this. lord have mercy it’s a real good life in the backwoods Words: 404 Outfit: OMG! ITS CLICKABLE Notes: i like pickles!!!! .I try to laugh about it, cover it all up with lies I try and laugh about it, hiding the tears in my eyes 'Cause boys don't cry. Michael shrugged at his best friend's words. ”Well,” he sighed, ”we can't all be good at everything. Not for lack of trying, though.” He wasn't really trying to lighten the mood—-that would be impossible with the way Jason was obviously currently feeling. Humour, Michael's forte, wasn't going to work right now. However, the Ravenclaw really didn't know how to put his little quips on hold. They would just have to fade out until he could be more serious. He didn't really think Jason would care, though. Jason didn't care about anything anymore. Looking out over the lake at the stars, Mike pondered over the question, his breath coming out in white fog from the cold along with the smoke from his cigarette. There could be a lot of different answers from different points of views on this one. Michael decided to go with what he thought the right one was. ”I think it's to make what limited time we have here count,” he said, turning to look at Jason, attempting to read his expression. It was neutral, blank, but then again what had Michael expected? ”Life is short,” he continued on, feeling a little poetic, ”But if you've made some one smile, done something you're proud of, loved, I'd say it's not a total waste. Other than that, I don't really know, man. I'd say if your, just in general, life has had an influence on someone, mattered, you haven't totally fucked up.” The seventh year puffed on his smoke, rolling his eyes at Jason's comment, irritably. Mike hated criticism. ”Tell me something I don't know,” he grinned, even as it was a brittle one. It made Michael unhappy when his best mate was unhappy—-and, with good reason, Jason had been unhappy for quite a while now. ”Like you said though, either way we're going to die, eh?” The Ravenclaw gave a bleak little half smirk half smile. The words, though sounding pessimistic, were really just another weak attempt at humour, despite his knowledge that any effort in that area would be to no effect. Michael grabbed the bottle from Jason after flicking ash onto the wet grass and took a few good swigs, then returning the Fire-whiskey to him swiftly. It was a two-six; enough for the both of them to get more or less smashed, if they finished the whole thing. He frowned at what Jason said, and at the fresh tears streaming from his eyes, too. Jason had been crying much too much lately. ”Really? What am I doing, then?” Once again, Mike's eyebrows were raised. Jason was making it sound like he was doing something wrong. ”Hanging out with a friend, right? Good for you, for figuring out that one.” He clapped Jason on the back again. He felt for Jason, he really did. But Michael wasn't sure what he was supposed to do. ”She'll have to let you go, man. When you're ready to move on, you'll know. C'mon, Jase! You're a smart guy. These things take time. You love her a lot. Grief's not going to just disappear overnight.” It was unfortunate, but it was the truth. Jason was going to have to bear it—there was no other way out. No way in hell was Mike letting the kid kill himself, if that was something he was feeling the urge of doing. “You can't rush these sorts of things, Jason. It's unbearable, but you just have to wait.”

Jason just shrugged. He wasn’t really in the mood. Though sometimes when he thought about Aidyn he was. He smiled at the thought of her. She had been the only one to really make Jason smile in the past few days. He had really liked that though. Talking to her that day when she hurt her ankle. When he kissed her as well. He frowned. He knew that had been over the line. Both for her and for Eleni. Even if Eleni was dead it was still recent. Well recent to him. How long had it really been? He couldn’t remember. He remembered he had dranked so much liquor that night though. His head had hurt so bad.
Jason could feel the tears running down his face as he tried to drink his sorrows away. I feel so bad though Michael. Not only because Eleni is dead. But because….because I feel like I am cheating on her now. I know she is dead but that is just how it feels he said. Then Jason realized he still hadn’t told Michael about Aidyn. His head down he said I was in the library you know and I met this girl. She had been in the year below us but same house Michael. She made me smile. She was funny. Though she kept talking about this killer. Never understood that. She had hurt her foot so I carried her up to the hospital wing. Though she was making a fuse about it and…I…I kissed her Mike. Jason felt so bad about it. He hated it. She probably hated it as well.
Michael I just feel empty inside though a lot of times. But for some reason that Aidyn girl makes me feel a little bit better. Like it is actually bearable he said through the tears running down his face. It really felt like he was cheating though. His sister Ana would kill him. She said it herself that if he ever cheated on Eleni she would kill him. Well he sure wish she would hurry up and do it then. He took a huge swig from the bottle and rested his head on the tree. So much crying had come from him lately. He was starting to fill like he was empty of water now.
Jason just shook his head. Im not smart Michael. Even Eleni has said I wasn’t. No one knows how I even got sorted into RavenClaw he said. That was something the Aidyn girl had said as well. Man he had to stop thinking about her. He took another huge swig of the whiskey. He would need some vodka soon. That would make him feel kind of better till he fell asleep. Though he wouldn’t feel good in the morning but he could just skip classes that day.

.I try to laugh about it, cover it all up with lies I try and laugh about it, hiding the tears in my eyes 'Cause boys don't cry. Michael wondered a little when Jason gave a brief smile. It didn't last very long, and he had no idea as to the cause of it. But it seemed to be a start. If only Michael himself could still cheer his best friend's spirits the way he used to be able to. It saddened him that Jason was in so much pain and he had no way of being capable of being help. It saddened him that Jason was in pain, at all. "I wish you could see that you shouldn't feel like that, though," he said, looking up at the sky once again. It looked like it just might start to snow. Too bad it was September now--Mike was of course glad to be back at Hogwarts, even with everything Jason was going through that affected him as well, but for the weather. Mike didn't mind (enjoyed, even, sometimes) the snow, but wasn't so much one for the cold. It made smoke breaks almost unbearable. "You definitely are not cheating. But I know just me telling you isn't going to make those sorts of emotions go away. I know that you can't help what you feel. I just wish I knew what to tell you to make you feel better, Jase." If doing such a thing was even possible, what with his fellow Ravenclaw's current devasted state. At his mate's soulful confession, Michael turned to look at him, and they locked eyes. This was the first he was hearing of any girl occupying Jason's thoughts; besides Eleni, obviously. "You feel happy when you're with this Aidyn?" He asked, though he was sure what the answer was going to be. "I mean, besides that guilt that is there? If anything, Eleni would have wanted you to be happy. If you've met someone that fills that emptiness, that sort of hole you're talking about, that's good, man! It's what's best for you, to have something to care about again--someone to help lighten your heart. Eleni would have been happy about that, as much as she loved you. And you know I'm right."He continued to puff at his cigarette, raising his eyebrows at Jason. "If you don't know how you got sorted along with me, maybe you really are stupid," he muttered, shaking his head. Seeing that Jason was hogging the bottle, Mike made his own Firewhiskey appear. "Look Jason, maybe you're not a genius. Actually, I know you're not," this with a little teasing smile. "But you're no dummy. Don't sell yourself short. I know you really believe in what you're saying, but besides Eleni and Aidyn, I guess, that's just you. Although, thinking that getting wasted is going to solve all your problems is really realistic of you."

Jason had no idea what to do. He couldn’t even imagine how Michael was still sticking by him in his lonesome depressing self. One thing for sure was that Michael was a great friend. Jason took another swig of the whiskey. As he talked to Mike his thoughts kept going back to Aidyn. To that one kiss. He put a finger to his lips as if he could catch some of her sweetness that was still there.
Looking at his friend he knew Michael was right. He couldn’t and shouldn’t feel this way, but he did. For some strange reason he felt like he was cheating on Eleni. He felt like if she could come back and speak to him she would scowl him for even looking at other girls. Then there was another part that told him that that wasn’t true. That what Michael was saying made sense. That Eleni would want him to be happy. I’m sorry I’m such a downer man he said. He hated being the bad vibe guy now days.
When Michael turned to him and his eyes locked with his bestfriends he knew he put his foot in his mouth. He had completely forgotten about telling Michael before about Aidyn. Even though she was in their house she was a year under and they rarely hung out with kids under their year. Plus she read a lot and you would rarely or never see Jason or Michael reading a book or in the library unless it was a must. Which wasn’t often of course. Jason shook his head and said Yeah I am. Sighing to himself he knew his friend was right. I know Mike. I know. It’s just sometimes I feel like if Eleni could come back and talk to me that she would chew my ass out for even looking at another girl, but other times I feel like she would chew my ass out for making myself feel so miserable. I have no idea what to do he said honestly.
Jason took another sip of whiskey. Jason had attempted to quit smoking before and Michaels cigarette looked tempting. Oh man this was killing him. Finally he decided he couldn’t take it anymore and make a pack of NewPort 100s and a lighter appear. Jason took a cigarette out of the pack and lit one. He look a huge puff and sighed out of relief. Who was he kidding. He would never be able to quit smoking. He took another puff and leaned against the tree. Jason smiled at his friends teasing. Looking at him Jason nodded. Maybe he did deserve to be happy. Maybe he should live for Elenis sake. Jason laughed and took a swig of whiskey. I wasn’t planning on getting wasted tonight he said with a small smile.

.I try to laugh about it, cover it all up with lies I try and laugh about it, hiding the tears in my eyes 'Cause boys don't cry. Michael watched Jason with mild interest, but he was also absorbed in his own thoughts, as he could tell Jason also was. True, nobody in his life had died. No one he cared about or was close to, anyway. But nonetheless the seventh year had had something of a hard life. It was one thing to love and then have lossed, but also another to have never truly experienced such sort of emotion before at all. He scarcely admitted it; really. Barely. But Mike was and had for a while now been lonely, and wasn't sure what to do to change this fact. Besides Jason, his hanging-by-a-thread family, and a few friends, the boy's life was relatively empty. What to do, what to do? "Aw, c'mon. You sound like a chick," Mike elbowed Jason with a devious little smile. "Don't worry about it. I know you'd be here the same as I'm right now, for me."Eleni had been a great girl, despite Michael not having known her all that well--but she'd been good for Jason during her time with him, and it was very unfortunate that she had died. However, Michael couldn't deny that if he was in his best mate's place he too would feel badly (and be scared shitless, no less) about what she would have thought about his moving on. But Jason had to work past that. Aim for the greater good. He hadn't been making things up when he'd said that if his deceased girlfriend loved him as much as Michael was sure she had, his best interest would have been the most important thing to her. "That's life," Mike shrugged, not unkind, but replying shortly. It was, after all, the truth. "None of us always know what's going to happen, what's right. It's not like we were born with an instruction book, just for these types of situations. You just have to let go, Jason. There's nothing you can do about anything, anyway, so you're going to have to sit back and just hope for the best my friend." Good advice, if he did think so himself. "Don't worry," he patted him on the back reassuringly, breathing out a big cloud of smoke. "Just let whatever comes what may." Then Michael had to laugh. He couldn't help it. Jason probably hadn't been planning on getting pished when he'd headed out of the common room earlier that night. That didn't matter now, though. The Ravenclaw was halfway to hammered. "Well, that just shows," Michael chuckled. "Pretty much nothing works out as expected. Eh?"
