It was December at Hogwarts. Meaning the climate would drop from gloriously sunny to dreadfully icy. And every other day you would catch a glimpse of snow falling from the large glass church like windows that danced across the castle. That did not stop Kristin from wandering outside, playing with the snow. As childish as it seemed it Kristin found it to be relaxing to have a snow day. It was better than having to deal with teachers and homework. As a Ravenclaw Kris had a typical stereotype, to be the at the top of the class, studious, and a very quiet individual. Which she mastered quite well, but most people that knew her would say other wise. Honestly, she didn't care what people perceived of her because she knew it would be as wrong as they might be she would still have her loved ones who actually knew her. But then that led to how she had to present herself to them. Her just being a completely disgusting horrible person wouldn't get her high marks from anyone. Not from her loving mother to her dearest Xenia, no matter how much they accepted her now. However, it wasn't her intention to be something that she wasn't, she didn't think she was, and if she was she knew somehow someone would tell her, or she would realize it herself. Kristin looked outside the window of her dorm room, jumping out of her bed she dashed to her dresser and started to dress in warmer clothing. Today she was going to have a carefree day, just outside living her life. Even if she was by herself she would have a fun day, but i would be a plus for someone to accompany her.
Finally Kris finished shoving her feet into her tennis shoes and found her way out of the dorm room, rushing down the stairs into the common room, and eventually into the corridors. It was chilly inside the castle, meaning that outside it would be brutal. Kristin continued to skip throughout the halls, her face glowing. One would assume that something wonderful happened to her, with the smile that laid upon her face. But no, it was simply her childish imagination, all in one smile. She looked around, her pace still fast and steady. As the occasional hello's and hey Kris's came flying by Kristin simply nodded, not wanting to be rude. She was determined to get outside before the snow melted away, and all that stayed was the merciless freezing wind. Kristin found the doors, and squeezed her way outside, feeling the cold wind rush to her entire body and wash away the warmth. Kris stuck one leg out and placed her foot upon the snow, and repeated it with the other. As she did she immediately looked down to her feet, she knew tennis shoes weren't the best thing to wear in the snow, however there wasn't much outside anyways, and at the pace it was falling, it would go away in about a few hours. Kristin could feel as the snow melted on her shoes and closed her eyes for a few moments, just bearing it. There was no way cold feet would ruin her day, not at all. Today she was going to be the biggest optimist anyone would ever know, she was going to let go of everything, at least for a little while.
She bent down and cupped a large amount of the white powdery substance in her hand, turning her head to see other people outside, doing the same as her. Kris wasn't surprised, a lot of people went and had a snow day, it wasn't uncommon. She stood up and threw up the snow, covering her head as not to get snow in her hair. Kris watched through her arms as the snow crashed to the ground, immediately reattaching itself to the rest of the snow. It was a funny thing how it worked like that, you could take it from the rest and the drop it back down and it would look almost the same as you left it. And it would be molded, simply by touching it, stepping on it, even something minor like poking a small hole in it. Kris sat down, folding her arms and looking around. The snow was starting to melt and the wind was still blowing, snowflakes brushing across her face.

Michael shivered. He was dressed warmly, but still cold ! Cigarettes deteriorated good circulation, he guessed, as unfortunate as that was. And smoke breaks out in the cold sure didn't help! But still, despite this, the seventh year couldn't say he was put off by the weather. The snow that was falling, and that which was already on the ground, was glistening, and just the right amount. Not too much that you got wet up to your knees, but enough to build a lopsided snowman, or something of the like. It enveloped the ground and the roofs of Hogwarts prettily, making everything look magical. Well, more magical than a school of witchcraft and wizardry already was, of course. Mike had been planning on returning inside the castle right away after he put his cigarette out. But being out here among it and seeing the snow from your window were two very different things, and now he found he didn't mind the 'bloody freezing shit' as much as he had previously anticipated. Maybe he'd stay out here for a while. It was good for him to get some fresh air, anyway--being a Ravenclaw meant you were often inside with your nose stuck in a book. Or at least, that was what the students of other Houses stereotyped; even as it was often true. So some outdoor time, especially with freshly falling snow that no doubt wouldn't linger too long and should be enjoyed while it lasted, wasn't such a bad idea. Seeing one of his year mates, Kristin, he could tell, even through the blur of snowflakes, suddenly made the notion even more appealing. Halving the cigarette and dropping it into the pocket of his coat, Mike made his across to her in his now wet converse, scooping up snow with cold fingers as he did so. Once a firm ball had been formed in his hands he launched it, his aim her, grinning all the while. Then he raced toward her, kicking up snow as he went, to tackle her playfully until they were both covered in the frigid, melting stuff. Yep, snow days could be fun at times, he decided. Laughing devilishly at her with his dimples exposed, he grinned, rubbing his hands together to warm them. He was most likely going to be in for payback from her that he had victimized, he knew. But still, "Hey," was all he said.

The cold snow melted and Kris looked around the grounds. There still was a fair amount, and some was still falling. Hopefully it wouldn't go away too soon and the pace of how much was falling would speed up. However, Kris wasn't going to let the pessimist in her come out, so she thought about how easily the weather could change and how much snow could just come falling down. Anyways it didn't look like the snow would too fast, as it was still freezing outside. Reaching for another handful of snow Kris felt something hit her. A snow ball, figured. She turned to her left to find no one. Maybe it was an accident, or it was some jerk trying to be funny. Hell she didn't care, but if she got hit by another one she would definitely do something about it. As a child Kristin was always protected, from everything. She wasn't able to do anything without her parents giving some precautions and making sure she wouldn't be able to hurt herself in any way, shape and form. Now that she was older, and didn't have the spend most of the year with her 'rents she was able to do more than she could as a toddler. Which she greatly appreciated, and as much as she loved her dearest mother and father she enjoyed being away from them. Kristin scooped another handful of snow and shape it into a circle, she then dropped it and let it reattach to the rest of the snow on the ground. She laughed softly at herself, she didn't know what she was doing, but it was silly.
Not a second too soon Kris felt someone tackle her, and with wide eyes she rolled over only to see it was one of her housemates, Michael. She put her guard down, relieved it wasn't some stranger. A simple "Hey." came out of his mouth, which made Kristin laugh. She looked up at him and replied "Hey?" taking a small portion of snow and rubbing it onto his cheek. Kristin didn't know Michael all that well, but she was up to having someone to mess around with in the snow. Kris raised an eyebrow as he laughed. "What's so funny? Tackling young innocent girls, or just seeing them freeze?" she teased. Her sarcasm was always a bit sharp, but most people learned to deal with it. Garrett had to learn how to deal with it, and it wasn't as easy as he would have liked it to be. Kristin managed to get herself up and looked at Michael whom had a devilish smile laid across his face. She shook her head, and let a small smile form on her face. Well, she got what she wished for, but not in the way she meant. Kris tilted her head and wondered for a few seconds, did he throw that snowball at her? If he did, then she knew exactly what to do.

Michael grinned at his own audacity. In their younger days, he and the rest of the Finnigan children had loved having snow ball wars during the wintertime. Those were times that he really missed—he was no longer very close with his Slytherin brother, though not because of Houses. Alexander had been kidnapped for the majority of last year, and things were a bit awkward now that they hadn't seen each other in what felt like forever. Even after he'd gotten away, he hadn't returned to see the rest of the family for a good while afterwards. Much as Michael would try to deny it (he wished he could hide his emotions, even if he wasn't very good at it), that had kind of hurt. Kristin returned his greeting as well as the favour of him getting her covered in snow by rubbing some of the frigidness onto his cheek. Mike shuddered; ”Brrr !” He then got up and started pacing around. At Kristin's question he laughed again, though. ”I'd say both,” he replied, working hard to smile innocently. ”I'm sorry, I just couldn't resist,” he gave her as explanation. ”You were just standing there, all dry, and we couldn't have that, could we?” He chuckled a little. ”So I went in for the kill. I do that sometimes.” He glanced at her, trying to see from her expression whether she was thinking of revenge. Fingers crossed that she wasn't! ”I was necessary.”
