Hunter walked into the Three Broomsticks at about eight 'o' clock at night, shaking snow off of his jacket. Sometimes, he really did miss California. The weather was close to godliness almost all the time there. Summer got hot sometimes, but it was never too bad. Winter never actually felt like winter in L.A. The coldest it would get there in a typical year would be around 45 degrees, and even that was rare. But here, he was trudging snow and freezing weather. Alright, granted it was only October, so he wasn't exactly trudging yet, but still. But it was definitely colder at night then it was during the day. You would think that he would be used to it by now, but not quite.
He went up to the bar and grabbed a regular beer, not wanting to have to wait for it. After he got it, he went over to a table by the wall. It was a little bit quieter over there, so he didn't have to be bothered by the nonsensical chatter that the people were yapping on about. He took a swig of his drink and scanned the room. There wer some people there, but it wasn't crazy busy. It was a little less than half-full, he'd say. Still, it was boring. Everyone was with someone else, and even if there wasn't, there really didn't seem to be anyone interesting enough to talk to. And by interesting, he means beautiful.

Victoria had found that if you went out and about at night, you would run into the strangest and best people out. She was being more social since she did not have her family around much. They were off around the world, exploring different blood types, which was weird to her. But she was eager to try what they found.
She looked around and pulled the hood further over her head as she headed into The Three Broomsticks. She pushed back her hooded cloak and walked up to the bartender. She pulled the pin that was holding up her hair and let her curls fall down around her face. She smiled at him and he welcomed her back. Oh Lord, she was turning into a regular. She sighed and got her 'usual' and looked around for a place to seat, but decided to just sit at the bar until something or someone stood out from the crowd...
But then, out of the corner of her eye, she saw a familiar face... She turned and looked at the young man in the corner and smiled at him. It was Hunter. They had met briefly at a cafe a few nights ago along with the Magic History teacher and his wife whom seemed to be having some problems, but Victoria did not ask. She walked over, her scotch on the rocks in one hand, her cloak over her other arm and stood next to his table. "You're Hunter, right? I believe we met the other night?"

Hunter took a swig of his beer and looked at his watch, even though he already knew what time it was. He knew people looked at him weird because he had a watch, but he couldn't let go of everything from the muggle world. Including his watch, his iPhone, and a few other things. Hey, once a nerd, always a nerd, just suppressed. He sighed and looked down at his beer, tapping his fingers. He kept asking himself why he came. Maybe instead being bored at home, he could be bored somewhere else. Then, when he looked up, he saw a familiar face walk through the door. He followed her with his gaze, and then, apparantley, she recognized him too. She started to walk toward him, and in return he sat up straighter.
Hunter smiled at her when he realized she was Victoria from a few nights ago. He stood up and held out his hand for her to shake. "Yeah, yeah, I'm Hunter. You're, uh, Victoria, right?" He met her at a cafe with the Delancy's, both of which he knew from former occasions. Piper from meeting her on the Hogwarts grounds, and Cooper... Well, when two people are both Deatheater's you generally know eachother.

Victoria smiled at him as he looked up and remembered her from the other night. She sat down and looked over at him as she said her name with a question. She nodded. "Yes, I am. We were talking with Cooper and his lovely little wife. Oh!" she pulled out something from her pocket and magiced it back to regular size. It was his jacket. "We left in such a hurry, I forgot to give you this back..." she said holding the jacket out for him to take.
It had been a long time since she had been shown so much kindness by another man.. A long time. Sure, Dante had been sweet to her, but it was all superficial with him, and when he left her and took his younger cousin with him, well... she knew that she would never see him again. She looked down at her hands, they were about to break the glass she was holding onto, so she set it on the table and folded her hands on her lap as she crossed her legs one over the other, her shoe dangling from her toes, casually.
"So... If I remember correctly, you said you worked at the Ministry? Which Department?" she asked him, curiously. She had never been to the Ministry in the past century. She remember when she had to go there as a little girl to get "registered" as a Beast in the Wizarding Community, those bastards. She was not a "Beast" she was a Vampire. And a damn good and proud one at that.

Hunter smiled at her as she sat down, and seated himself again as well. He couldn't help noting how beautiful she was. And the way the candle flickered off her skin, it almost made her glow. He folded his hands, put his elbows on the table and propped his head up on them. He nodded his head and said, "Yes I remember. His wife is very sweet. I don't how someone could cheat with someone so nice. But, ya know, that's Cooper," and smiled. Then he saw her pull out something tiny and black from her pocket. In an instant, it was back to it's regular size, and he realized it was his jacket. "Well, that is convenient," he said with a laugh. He heard her thank you and shook his head. "Don't worry about it. I had on a long sleeve under it, and, ya know, I knew if didn't run into you again, I could always buy another one."
Hunter took a drink of his beer, but when he looked at her, he noticed the white's of Victoria's knuckles as they clenched down on the glass. He was worried she was going to break it when she must have realized what she was doing and set it back down on the table. He looked at her with eyebrows up and asked, "Are, uh.. are you alright? You seem," he chuckled then continued, "a little tense." He thought back through their conversation and he didn't think he had said anything to get her mad. Truthfully, he thought he was being rather charming.
But putting that aside, he figured he'd answer her question. Hunter smiled and dropped his hands to the table. "Yeah, I do. I, uh, I work in accidents and catostrophies. Cheerful huh?" he said with a laugh. "I enjoy my work though. I think it's fun." He took another drink of his beer then smiled at her. "But you! You're a proffesor. How is that?" He asked, sounding truly curious.

Victoria sipped at her malted scotch and nodded as he told her that his wife was so sweet and that he did not know how someone could cheat on someone like her. Victoria completely agreed. It really pissed her off when she heard about people cheating, especially with students. She sighed and then looked over at him as the memories of Dante slipped out of her mind. He asked her, chuckling, if she was all right because she seemed a little tense. She nodded and waved it off. "Oh... just an old thought arising. I should be fine. Thank you though." she thanked him for his kindness. Yet again he was remarkably kind to her. Maybe it was his first act of kindness that made her attracted to him.
He talked about his work at the ministry and said that he enjoyed it. She smiled lightly at that and nodded. She always loved people that had their passion in life as their job. She heard him ask her about being a professor and she set the scotch down on the table as she finished her sip. "Well... It's interesting. I have a very small class this year, for some reason. But I love it. I'm just so... what's the word..." she thought for a moment and then raised her finger in an 'ah-ha' moment, "...Nerdy about science and potions that I could not see myself doing anything else. My father... well he was not so sure about it at first, but now he enjoys to hear the stories of young people these days..." she smiled lightly, looking across the table at him. She could see that he was still wearing his watch and it made her smile.
"My classes seem to be not as active as some of the graduates I had were. Which is sad. The students just do not realize how important potions really is. Hells' sake, there's one-fifth of the O.W.L.s on it!" she smiled lightly and took another sip.

Hunter watched her curiously and Victoria slightly evaded the question. Well, not exactly. She answered his question, but didn't give an explanation for her reaction, which he sort of expected. He smiled his crooked smile and said lightly, "Are you sure? I'm a good listener." He grinned at her, this time expecting probably a laugh and a no. He could never really blame people for being elusive with answers. At least not without being a hypocrite. For one thing, he was a Deatheater, so he couldn't ever answer questions relating to that. Also, he didn't really talk about his past. If asked, his answers were generally vague, and never really revealed much. It was really because he was embarrassed of it. He didn't like people to know how much of a nerd, and un-wizard like he was. Fixing computers in the muggle world wasn't really something you bragged about. He much preferred to leave that part of his past way behind him.
The truth was, Hunter didn't really think he made much of a good Deatheater, and wasn't totally proud of it either. He was thankful for the changes it made, but as a student, he was always a do-gooder, straight A's, not very athletic. Definitely not Deatheater material. But, when offered the chance to change his demeanor. To go from the nerdy best friend, to charming and suave go-getter, he took the opportunity. But even though you can take the man out of the nerd-world, you can't take the nerd out of the man. If Hunter could have his dream job, it wouldn't be working as a ministry official. He wanted to own his own software company, making plenty of many, race-car sponsor who also raced himself from time to time. But he wasn't sure that ever was going to happen.
Hunter laughed when she called herself nerdy. She didn't know the meaning of. "It's ok to be nerdy about something you love." He raised his eyebrows as if to prove his point, "Believe me, I have my fair share." He was shaking his head when she told him that her class number was small. "Kids just don't realize that an education is important, ya know? They just can't... glide on by without trying and expect the good life." When Hunter went back to muggle world, he decided he wanted to try to make his dream a reality and went to a prestigious university, but got kicked out. It wasn't his fault, but they booted him anyway. So he never got his final twelve credits, and it was soon after that, that Bellatrix got a hold of him.

He checked if she were sure and then told her that he was a good listener. She thought about it for a moment and then smiled lightly at him. "Well... maybe at another time... rain-check?" she asked him still smiling lightly. She was honestly impressed that he was willing to listen to her old tales. She watched him for a moment as he seemed to be thinking about somethings, but she decided not to intrude. The conversation moved on anyways.
She nodded in agreement with him when he said that the students just sort of expected to glide on by. She could not agree more. They always seemed to think they ruled the world with their drinking, smoking, and having sex. Honestly... they were acting like the hippies in the seventies... And Victoria's eye twitched at that thought. She rather despised the hippie movement and everything they did. It was rather a harsh life-style for people that were trying to save the earth, while they destroyed themselves... 'Sort of hypocritical...' she thought. She looked over at Hunter once more, took a sip of her drink, and then cleared her throat.
"What are you nerdy about?"

Hunter laughed and nodded his head when she told him maybe another time. "Sure," he said, "Whenever works for you." He smiled at her softly, his lopsided grin turning into a full-on smile. He would be stupid if he didn't admit that there was a connection between them. Something that drew him to her, made him want to know more and more about her, as much as he could. His kind eyes turned curious when she once again became tense, an almost far-away look in her eyes, and the look in them was not a happy one. But instead of being scared or weirded out by this, it only made him wonder about her more. What could make her have such a reaction? He knew it wasn't him. There was nothing he had said or done that could make someone angry. He had been nice their entire conversation.
Hunter smiled again when she came back to the present and cleared her throat. "Nap time already?" he asked with a laugh in his voice. Then her next question made his smile die a tad and looked down at his beer in his hands. Well, he didn't have to be totally specific about his answer. She already knew he carried a phone and a watch, so why not just say the semi-obvious? "Well, as you can see," he held out his left arm to show his watch, "I like electronics. I was kind of studying them, more specifically computers, back in the Muggle world." He didn't say just how much of a nerd he was about them. Give him a computer to code, or a video game and he was in heaven. It was sad, really. But, of course he would never admit that to her. It would be too incredibly embarrassing. Also, computers and video games were so much more nerdy than science. Even he thought science was pretty cool. It wasn't really all the nerdy. But back in the muggle world, you told someone you could kick their megabytes in Gears of War, you were the geekiest of the geeks.

Setting her drink on the table again, she folded her hands, rested her elbows on the wooden table, and rested her chin on the back of her laced-fingers. She wanted to learn about this man, there was something about him that just sparked her curiosity and she wondered if she was doing the same for him by leaving so much about themselves mysterious. Smiling lightly, she listened as he extended his arm and showed her a watch. How peculiar... she used to use watches with hands, but his had the written numbers on it. She was trying to remember what exactly that was called, but she figured it would come to her.
He went on to explain that he used to study them while in the muggle world. She smiled brightly and then nodded lightly. "I remember the last...er... watch I had, hand hands on it, I kept the muggle gizmo in my pocket during the w-," she stopped. She was going to say world war... but that would give away just how old she was. She had told someone that she was 130 right off the bat and that did not go so well. They didn't talk to her anymore. She looked over at him.
"Despite what my father thinks is proper, I'm actually quite intrigued by all those electric things... There are some amazing muggle-made microscopes that call for electricity and I just wish I could get my hands on one... But even if I did... I doubt that the school would be able to provide the power for it..." she sighed lightly.
