It was the beginning of the new term. The office of the Headmaster was quiet. Robert was sitting at his desk, finding he didn't have anything to do. He had spent a good portion of the morning, walking around the corridors with a cup of coffee in his hand. Coffee was his new found addiction. It helped him not want to drink vodka, and he needed something. Coffee wasn't too bad for your health, and it was a normal thing to drink. Robert had tried tea but, that didn't float his boat.
He glanced around his office and sighed. Robert mused at what could possibly happen this term, after last term. What worse could possibly happen? To recap last term he had several arguments with Kelsey and Anton. He had threatened Dominique, Kelsey told him she was married, then she told him she was pregnant, Kelsey caught him having sex with Adrienne....oh, and last year he nearly got a divorce, Anton was nearly killed, he had an emotion breakdown, oh and Kelsey was kidnapped. Plus, Jack Lestrange dropped the bomb that he was a good guy. Robert still distrusted him, and still didn't bloody like him. Oh, and let's not forget - Robert left the Death Eaters. So, what worse could happen?
Robert didn't foresee anything. In fact, he was hoping he'd get a quiet, normal term. Looking at at the sleep portraits of other Headmasters he considered them lucky. They probably didn't have as much of a stressful first term as he did. Dumbledore was probably the only one that could compare. He was killed during a term. Robert doubted if that would happen. Chuckling at the absurd idea, he leaned back and propped his feet up on the desk, closing his eyes. This year was going to be a good year....hopefully.

September, the hardest month of the twelve, or so Mandy LeBlanc had thought. It was the month of September that marked the end of summer vacation, the month that the breezy weather began to roll in and the month she parted with all her children and husband. This year was slightly different, but nevertheless still difficult. Due to the mere fact that Kelsey was pregnant, she had the option to return home whenever she pleased. Problem was, it would be her own home she’d be returning to, not here. Then there was Anton, who had officially graduated but had his own family to care and think of. It was really only Vince and Robert she had to bid farewell to, neither had been particularly easy. Especially not after the vacation they had taken over the summer, it had probably been the longest time they had spent together in a while, but Mandy wasn’t complaining, how could she? A lot had happened over the previous year, a stress-free vacation with her husband was exactly what she needed. Sure they had their fair share of arguments but as always, they where over the tiniest things and easily reconciled.
Mandy had spent the majority of the morning sprawled in bed watching the rain continue dribble down her window. Just great. The weather had already began to turn miserable in Britain, just like it always did at this time of year. When Mandy had finally managed to pull herself out of bed, she spent the reminder of the morning trying to find some suitable attire to wear. It was a hopeless case, and believe it or not, but this problem occurred every morning. After the third attempt at picking out a decent outfit she had given up and just decided to tie a trench coat around her small frame and slip into a pair of black heels. Now this, was a lot more comfortable, and it wasn’t like she was going commando or anything, she just wasn’t wearing much underneath the trench.
Coming to the decision if her family couldn’t visit her, then she’d visit her family. Wasn’t that so much easier? It wasn’t like Mandy had much to do anyway.
Using the flooing network had probably been the easiest way of transportation, but defiantly the messiest. As the green flames engulfed her and then faded, she took a moment to dust off her cream trench coat before looking up to notice the familiar office, one she had visited frequently when she was once a student, and even nowadays. She just couldn’t escape the past. Stepping out of the fireplace, a small smile crawled onto her lips as her hazel eyes skimmed over Robert. Someone seemed like he was enjoying himself.
Moving over to his desk, Mandy perched herself on the side of it and crossed one leg over the other, revealing her peeping garters. Leaning forward slightly, she still maintained her small smile, “So, I’ve been thinking, maybe we should just retire early and take another, long vacation.” Looking at him her smile faltered slightly, “Home has been quiet, too quiet and you haven’t even been gone that long.” Tilting her head to the side, her loose curls fell over her shoulder, “This job sucks ass…”

Yup, this was going to be a good year. Maybe Robert would be able to deal with normal Headmaster stuff, like difficult students, or something. He could get use to this. Naps whenever he wanted, just strolling around the halls. No, psycho maniacs tormenting his poor soul and family. Yup, a guy could get used to it. Robert knew this tranquility probably wasn't going to last much longer so, he was going to just soak up what he had before things went down hill.
Robert rubbed his nose, deciding that a nice nap was in order. Everything was running smoothly, why not take a short snooze? So, that he did well, he tried. The sound of the fireplace aroused him to attention. Robert kept his eyes closed, hoping that if this was work or crazy related, that it would just go away. Then he heard the clicking noise of heels and had to open his eyes. A smile crawled across his lips as he saw her, Mandy.
He didn't think that he'd ever reach this point with her. A little less than a year ago, Robert had divorce papers ready. What was he bloody thinking? Well, for starters he just wasn't...among other things. That was all in the past. Now, he was just more in love with her than before. Robert watched her walk over to the desk. His minded drifted back to their vacation. That was a lovely time. In fact, it was just the thing they both needed.
A smirk was added to his features as she sat down. Oh he noticed the peeping of the garters. Robert moved his feet back to the floor. He wasn't going to jump to conclusions. He could be wrong, it happened before. Though, he'd much rather not be wrong. This job didn't suck. Last term, it sucked a lot. This year, it wasn't so bad. Robert had never really thought it about but, everyone leaving the house was probably hard on Mandy. "Funny, would you have said this job sucks ass a year ago?" he asked with a bit of a smirk. Rob sighed and shook his head. "You know, you could stay here...at night," he suggested, examining the soft features of her face.

Last year, Mandy would have been delighted when this month rolled in. No children, no husband and no stress. That was how it went, right? After two long months of watching over immature and reckless children, she was more than happy to send them of to Hogwarts, along with Robert, who quite frankly never really hung around much anyway, and Mandy obviously knew why. But hey, she wasn’t complaining, it meant one less person to worry about. However, when the day came where they all set of to the train station all Mandy could do was wave and smile.
This year, she had refused to come out of her room, sobbed like an immature five year old not getting what she wanted, and even work hadn’t eased the thoughts of her family. And that, was why Robert’s job sucked. Who could blame her for wanting her family back, after two months of nothing but being around them, she didn’t like the change. While they spent their days at Hogwarts, Mandy sat home alone, constantly worrying and occasionally having a glass or two of alcohol.
“A year ago, your job was the best thing that had ever happened. Now, it is a completely different story.” Maybe she was just paranoid, maybe it was her lack of trust, or maybe she just missed him already, but either way, this job just wasn’t going down well with her. Her eyes scanned over the room slowly, taking her time to take in the old office and think of all the crap that had happened in here. Frowning at the thought she turned her attention back to Robert.
“I was thinking you should just retire early and we can take a permanent vacation somewhere.” The idea sounded most appealing, but was it possible? Not right now. Their lives where only falling back into routine and already, she wanted to jet off again. Placing her black heel on one side of the chair, she sighed, “That would be too much hassle, with work, and quite frankly, I’d rather not wake up every morning with a missing husband.” Smiling softly, she shrugged her shoulders, “Home will be fine, I’ll find someone to keep our bed warm.” With a small chuckle she pushed a strand of hair behind her ears, “How has work been love?”

Usually, Robert thought Mandy had been happy to see him leave. Last year he couldn't remember her even saying goodbye to him. This year was completely different. Mandy wouldn't come out of the bedroom, and Robert heard her crying. The fact that happened, Robert felt much more happier. Then again, their vacation made him feel better and more happier then ever. Things were so much more brighter. He was happy for once.
Robert chuckles. It would a nice break from their children, and grandchildren that were on the way. Still, Robert felt better working. He was doing something for good, even if his initial intentions were otherwise. After seeing the errors in his ways last term, Robert was planning on taking a much more active role as Headmaster. Robert gave her a small smirk. "Maybe we should get you a cat, or a dog. They could keep the bed warm," he said. Rob knew by now that Mandy was just joking. He trusted her, he just wasn't sure if she trusted him. He wouldn't blame her if she didn't.
He sighed at the mention of work. "Well, not that bad yet. No major fights in the hall or anything." Robert was hoping nothing major would happen in the halls or around the grounds. The only thing he had to worry about was making sure he behaved himself...which he would. He really would. "You know, you should stay here with me at night."

Smirking, Mandy rolled her eyes ever so slightly, “Yeah, because if I was to get a cat or a dog I’d let it sleep on the bed. I was thinking more a long the lines of a young, masculine man, how about we get one of those? I‘d definitely let one of those sleep in the bed.” The smirk never left her lips as she spoke. Probably one of Mandy’s biggest flaws was that she took advantage of Robert’s trust in her, just because she knew he trusted her gave her the chance to mess around with him. However if Robert even tried to joke around like that with her she’d have him buried six feet under the ground before he could even finish.
“I suppose I could stay, if it isn’t any trouble.” After a small nod, Mandy looked towards the office floor, deep in thought. Thoughts had been swarming her mind as of late, and her constant silence about them was driving her insane. It wasn’t common that Mandy would keep herself well shut, but she had good reason to. The situation at hand just wasn’t something she had ever planned on speaking of again, and it wasn’t particularly easy on her. Perhaps it was how all women reacted to situations like these, but every time Mandy reacted the same, shut herself off for awhile, then she’d drive herself up the wall for not saying anything, and finally after a while she’d speak up. Right now, she was at point of wanting to speak up.
How the hell could she go through all that again? It was only now that Mandy felt that everything was becoming a lot easier. Anton had graduated and moved out, Kelsey had gotten married, moved out and fell pregnant, and Vince was growing up quickly, possibly becoming the most mature for his age. Then there was her marriage, one that had been on a rocky path since last year, and after a much needed vacation everything just seemed right, they where happy again, she was happy.
Bringing her hazel eyes to look at him, she crossed one leg over the other and inhaled a deep breath, “So, I’ve been meaning to talk to you about a small issue and I was wondering would now be a good time to tell you I’m pregnant or should I tell you later?” Although she seemed calm, Mandy was shaking inside. She had walked into his office radiating with confidence but now the whole façade was dropped and she felt like shit for wanting to cry again.

Robert smiled and chuckled. "Let me think about that....um, no." After a few months of Mandy joking around about finding herself a bedwarmer, he really didn't care that much anymore. Of course, he would care if she found one but, he didn't care about her joking around with her. Robert, however, was careful not to make the same joke. He was pretty sure that would open a can of worms he preferred to leave sealed.
Robert flashed his genuine smile, something that was actually seen more often lately. "Of course it isn't any trouble, love. Besides, that way you can keep a better eye on me," he said, adding his own touch of humor to the end. Even without Mandy here, Robert wouldn't have done anything. He was really behaving himself, and planned on keeping it there.
As silence fell between them, Robert simply watched her. He tell by her expression that she was off, thinking about something or other. This could either be good or bad. After being married for about twenty years, and toss in their few years of dating, Robert knew all her 'looks'. He knew her thinking process. If something was wrong, he wouldn't always find out about it until days or weeks later. Of course, this didn't hold her back from yelling at him if he really did something. But, wait. Robert hadn't done anything.
Robert let out a small sigh. He was lucky, to say the least. At this time last year, he was positive he was getting a divorce. Heck, he had the papers ready, and had already set himself up to move out of their house and into something else. The night that he proposed the idea, turned out completely different from then what they had both thought. Despite the fact that his only daughter was married and pregnant by the age of seventeen, Robert was really beginning to enjoy his life. Heck, he had even just accepted the fact that at age thirty-nine, he was a grandfather of three.
He smiled slightly again, as she looked at him. As the words came out of Mandy's mouth things sort of froze. Robert searched her face for any sign that she was joking. "Y-your joking ....right?" he had to ask. So, if she really was...how the heck did that happen? Well, obviously he knew how it happened as he was sort of there contributing. At least, he hoped it was him. No, it was, she wouldn't have done that again. While they were on vacation, they only did it like rabbits the entire time, so that was most likely how. Heck, it could have been before that too. So much for his drama-free year. Robert felt his mouth go dry and he swallowed nervously.

Refraining the urge to smile, she nodded slightly, “It was worth a try asking. But I suppose if I stay here at night then you’ll just have to do and keep the bed warm.” It was impossible to hold back the smile that crept onto her lips as she spoke her words. Even the thought of finding someone else to sleep beside her made her laugh, because really, Mandy takes up two thirds of the bed at night and barely leaves room for Rob’s ass to find space, why would she want to put anyone else through that when she had so much fun doing it to Robert?
Raising an eyebrow, his proposal didn’t sound all that bad, especially when she would have the chance to keep her eye on him. “Seeing as you put it like that, I’ll stay but I’ve got work in the morning and I have to visit my mother.” Oh the horror. Releasing a small sigh, she rested her head in her hands and took a moment to think of her schedule for the following morning, “Or I could just stay in bed all day.” Now that didn’t sound like a bad idea at all.
It was rare, incredibly rare when Mandy would stay at the castle, let alone visit it. Previously, she would have occasionally visited for Anton, Vince or Kelsey, and sometimes just to have an argument with Robert. Things have changed since then, so much had changed in the space of just a year. This year, Mandy was visiting her children’s own homes, taking a trip to the castle for a quickie and now, staying for the night. It just proved things had took quite a fortunate turn for the best in less than twelve months.
Examining his reaction carefully, Mandy’s fingers twisted around her necklace, watching as his eyes stared straight back at her, searching for a hint of amusement or anything, but Mandy revealing nothing. Loosening her grip on the silver necklace and moving her hands to her tired eyes, she rubbed them gently, being careful not to smudge her mascara in the process. She was exhausted, too tired to not be taken seriously. Right now, she just needed Rob to believe her and not ask her if she was ‘joking.’
Biting on her tongue, she made sure to keep her frustration on a tight leash, “Did that really sound like a joke? I’m glad that I’m amusing you today Robert, and it’s such a treat not to be taken seriously.” Mandy rolled her eyes while pushing herself off his desk. Flicking her hair over her shoulder’s she grabbed her handbag, “Right now I’m so exhausted that it’s making me groggy, so when you do decide to take me seriously maybe then you should send me and owl or something.” Throwing him a stern look as she tightened her trench coat, Mandy wasn’t prepared to hang around and be asked if she was joking.

Robert cringed at the mention of his lovely mother-in-law. If he could murder that woman and get away with it, he would. That woman gave him way too much grief. Luckily, the last time she decided to appear, he was able to keep himself together. He really wanted to just rip her head off the way she had been attacking Kelsey with her venomous words. Robert wanted to take Fiona and his father, and lock them away in a room together. They would get along great, or kill each other. Robert wanted the latter, of course. "Staying in bed all day doesn't sound bad, if I could stay with you?"
Robert simply stared, blank faced at Mandy's reaction. She wouldn't get pissy with him unless she was...serious. Oh boy. "Wait," he said standing up. "I'm sorry. But, really?" Robert really had no idea how he should really react. Of course, he should be happy and he was but, he'd had a joke like this played on him before. Robert sighed and took Mandy's hand. A small smile crept on his face. "How long have you known?' he asked calmly.
He should be used to this sort of news. Really, he should. First there was Anton, then Kelsey, and Vince. All unplanned. Then, Dominique was pregnant and she and Anton were engaged. Then, it was Kelsey and Potter...then their marriage..and then the twins. He should be used to unexpected news such as this. Still, this was more of a shocker then anything else. It wasn't..expected becoming a grandfather and father again, all in the same year.

As of late, Mandy had been staying in bed all day quite a lot, the only time she had forced herself out of bed was if she needed to use the toilet or get something to eat, and those where two things she did a lot, more than most people actually. Smiling, she bit on her lower lip, “See, I could stay in bed all day and get away with it, but you, you’re headmaster, I doubt there’s a chance you can stay in bed and not be interrupted with something or the other. And that is why I hate your job.” Mandy laughed softly. She didn’t hate Rob’s job, but nowadays she’d rather him take up a job which actually entitled him to come home, but being Headmaster required him to stay at Hogwarts most days, which really wasn’t fair.
Mandy was confused with all these feelings washing over her, she’d been dealing with these feelings for three weeks now, and finally she was feeling like she needed to express herself. Surprisingly, she was opening up a lot quicker than she usually did. When she discovered she was pregnant with Anton, it took her a whole month to build up the courage to even mention it to Robert, which actually left him rather pissed for being kept in the dark. She didn’t even tell him she was pregnant with Kelsey, after he saw the seven empty pregnancy boxes, it didn’t take to long to dawn on him. Finally when she fell pregnant with Vince, she sent an owl to Robert explaining that she had just found out she was pregnant, when actually she had known for three weeks. So yes, Mandy wasn’t incredibly great when it came to announcing pregnancies and what not.
Turning her back to him, she began her journey to the fireplace, but only managed to take one step before Robert’s voice broke the silence and he stood, resulting in Mandy turning towards him again and arching an eyebrow, “No it was a joke,” Her sarcasm getting the best of her, she frowned, “I am serious.” Mandy finally admitted as he took her hand and asked her the difficult part, how long had she known? Feeling rather awkward she shrugged, “I’ve known for a while.” Three long weeks of pondering thoughts had been considerably long but, she needed her time and space before she could say anything.

"I can easily stay in bed all day if I want," Robert said, shaking his head. "It's why there is a person called the Deputy Headmistress. She could handle things for a day." The thought of not getting up obnoxiously early was an amazing thought. To just lay in bed all day, with his beautiful wife with him, looked ten times more better than the things he had to do on a daily basis. Mandy was right, his job did suck. So, as much as it sucked he liked it. Robert was able to keep a close eye on Kelsey and Vince, and that was rather important to him considering the past year.
Robert should have known. Of course, Mandy would have known for awhile. If the past three times didn't remind him. If he remembered correctly he didn't know about Anton for a whole month, he figured out Kelsey on his own, and Mandy just sent him an owl for Vince. At least this time, she came to tell him. Robert knew it took her awhile to sort through things. He was perfectly fine with that. Robert sighed, and pulled Mandy toward him, kissing her cheek, and then hugging her. "I love you so much," he muttered in her ear.
He pulled back from the hug, putting his hand on her cheek, while his arm remained wrapped around her. Maybe the news hadn't fully sunk in yet because he still wasn't sure how he should be reacting. One thing was for sure, they were officially experts of making accidents. He didn't see anything wrong with that. Instead of a future of enjoying grandparent hood, and being able to return the little rascals, they now would have a little rascal that was nonreturnable. It would crying, poop, and puke all over again. Not to mention terrible two, and the teenage years. All. Over. Again. Yup, they were screwed. A small smile tugged at Robert's lips. "So...you came to tell me you're pregnant, in a trench coat, which I'm guessing doesn't have much underneath?"

“Then how about it, we just stay in bed all day without any worries, no stress, no kids, no nothing.” It was impossible not to smile at the proposition. If only life was that easy. The problem was, no matter where Mandy may be, how relaxed she could find herself, the thoughts of her children would always loom in the back on her mind. After all, drama followed her family around, there was never a time when everything was going just fine for the LeBlanc’s. It was a hopeless case. However, that didn’t necessarily mean that the option didn’t sound most appealing and it was exactly what Mandy needed.
To fully understand Mandy, patience was necessary. Her thinking process may take longer than most, but her decisions become much more rational. It just takes time for things to settle in her mind, to adjust to things. She was aware that even though she had taken her time to reveal her pregnancy, it still hadn’t settled, every moment felt like she was just discovering it all over again. Closing her eyes she inhaled a deep breath and released a small sigh while returning the hug, enjoying the feeling of comfort and the genuine words that reassured her, “I love you too.”
With his words, Mandy’s eyes quickly trailed down her trench coat and again, the small smile appeared. Was it really that obvious? Or maybe it was just Rob, who, after being together for over twenty years, knew her like the back of his hand. “Actually I came here to make sure you where in a decent mood before I told you I was pregnant. If you weren’t then the trench coat would’ve came off, but that’s no longer necessary anymore. Not to mention I do want to make the most of my body now before I get fat and expand out like an elephant.” The words brought a frown to her lips and the thought would make any woman cringe. Mandy hated this. The simple fact that when she finally got her body into shape, something happened to screw it up again, hence after she gave birth to Anton, she had worked her ass off to get back into shape and it only lasted a month before Rob knocked up again. Bloody bastard.

"If we could do that love, you know I would," he replied. The mere idea of no kids was enough for him. Specifically his own. They were the root of most of his stress. Robert supposed all parents felt that way but, then again, not every family was his. Drama and troubles seemed to draw to the LeBlanc family. It was like some one just liked to watch them squirm, or liked to see Robert lose his temper and destroy his office. There would be no destruction of the office this year, no sir.
Robert smirked. She knew him too well. Had he been in a bad mood, the removal of the coat to reveal whatever was under it, and his imagination said her naked boy, it would have put him in a much better mood. Rob rolled his eyes. What was it with women thinking they were fat when they were pregnant? Sure, a little weight gain happened but, what they say is true. A mother just has that certain glow around her, making her just that much more beautiful.
A smirk kept playing at Robert's lips. "You know," he said, his hand trailing down from her cheek, to her neck, and down just a tad further. "You're here, I'm here, I've got nothing to do..." Robert trailed off. Hey, if your wife showed up in a trench coat, you'd be turned on too. Even if she did just come to tell you she was pregnant, you'd still want her. He pulled her closer once more, softly kissing her lips.
You see, Robert wasn't always a rough, tough guy. He knew how to be nice and gentle about these sorts of things. Well, it could start that way but hey, they both liked it with a little extra umph. Robert realized, they had yet to actually have sex in his room here at Hogwarts. It was always the desk, or his chair, or in once case the floor. These two were worse than two teenagers sometimes. No wonder Mandy got pregnant, probably on their vacation.

Mandy knew it was all too good to be true. She considered them both lucky that they’d been able to escape on vacation without any drama following them, but it was seemingly waiting for them to return home just to bite them in the ass. There had a lot to be dealt with during their arrival back to Britain, one being Anton’s absence and the only thing to acknowledge that had been a note. Not even the note had shared any information on his whereabouts or a reason to why he had left. It took awhile, but things started progressing for the better, and Anton showed up once again. Since then, everything had been rather well, except for the baby business.
This baby was more of second chance in Mandy’s eyes. After a long discussion with Kelsey, who had managed to persuade her to actually get around to telling Robert, and to reassure her that everything was going to be fine. Mandy was well aware that she had screwed up raising her three children, probably why they where so screwed up as adults, but maybe this time she was ready to be able to care for this one, she’d have more support and time for another baby, it wouldn’t be so bad.
Everything had rushed after Anton, within the year she was pregnant with Kelsey, and just when she was getting the hang of things, Vince joined them. Now, at least this one had been spaced out in time compared to the others, it could only get easier right? Especially with the kids and Robert around to help when she needed it. However, unlike the other three times, Mandy wasn’t able to work out when she managed to slip up, but due to all the sex that had been happening on vacation, she was guessing around that time.
A smile crossed her lips as she listened carefully to his words, “I can think of a few things for you to do,” Mandy whispered in his ear before he pulled her closer and his lips came in contact with her own. Sliding her arms around his neck, the smile still managed to stay on her lips as she kissed him softly. It was times like this she could be reassured that everything would be fine, they’d be alright.

The world knew that Robert and Mandy wouldn't be getting parents of the decade award anytime soon, if ever. This baby, well it was like their fourth (and hopefully final) chance of actually being a real family. Well, the drama may never leave but, they could be there for him or her more often. Robert could be the father he wanted to be, he'd get a clean slate. Hopefully, he wouldn't suck so much this time around. Maybe this one, wouldn't run off and have a kid, or get married way too early, or something of that nature. This one was going to be...normal, for lack of a better adjective.
Robert took his time, giving his wife a gentle, loving kiss. "Everything is going to be fine, I promise," he whispered to her. He knew it was a promise that may be broken but, he wasn't going to let anything more happen to his family. Frankly, he was tired of it. All of it. He just wanted to do his job at Hogwarts, be a husband and father in every way possible. Is that too much for a man to ask for? For Robert, it seemed almost impossible to do. Every time he did something right, something would go wrong. Right now, nothing was going to go wrong.
Robert kissed Mandy's cheek and down her jawline to her neck, pecking his way back to her lips. He looked in her eyes for a few moments. Robert was really glad she stuck by him over the past year. Any other couple might have just broken things off. He couldn't believe that he actually intended on doing that once. Robert had burned those divorce papers not too long ago. He'd kept them around, just in case but, they really weren't needed, not anymore. Robert smiled again and zeroed in for another kiss, only this one was way more intense.
