No one would have imagined this a year ago, no one! Even James had not believed it right away a year ago. He had fallen in love with Kelsey, yes, and that was shock enough, but even more was that a year ago this morning, James was asking Kelsey the craziest question he had ever asked anyone. All of it was still so fresh in his memory, even today.
"Yes, of course I love you. I always have... I just... Wasn't ready for forever... Which is what I want with you." James remembered explaining to Kelsey how he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her, even if she may not feel the same way back. And how he was not sure even then, that he was ready for it. Then he remembered how she wanted proof, proof that he really meant what he said for once, and oh boy did he give it to her.
"You want to know how I know it will be forever? How I know I won't get bored and move on next week? Kelsey I know how long forever is, and I know you're all I want for the rest of it." He had said to her, and then he had paused, nervous as hell, and even thinking about now it made his hands sweat, and he wanted today to measure up to what it had been a year ago. "Will you marry me?" he had said completely out of the blue, and once again, continued talking before she could say anything else to him. He reiterated how horrible he had been to her and then he did the traditional full name, "Kelsey LeBlanc, will you marry me?"
James was up early, before Kelsey as normal today, and he was out on his run, clearing his head and trying to figure out what to do to live up to the year previous to this one. How could he make this the perfect one year anniversary for her? She deserved it. As he ran, he kept flashing back to that day the year before, and how perfectly everything had gone.
"James, Sirius, whatever you may want me to call you, I love you. I really do love you. I have never pictured myself with any other boy but you. Yes, I will marry you," She had been so happy, and he wanted to see that happiness light up in her eyes again. It had been so perfect, she had jumped at the idea and that was the first time since he had known her that she answered a question completely from the heart, not from her thinking about what might happen. She did not consider the consequences and neither did he, it was a night of pure bliss and it was a night he would never forget and he knew she wouldn't either.
From that conversation on, all they had talked about that night was finding a way into Hogsmeade, and once they were there he had apparated them to a tiny little chapel in Godrics Hallow, one Kelsey knew. They got married there, and the next few weeks or so had been hell trying to figure out how to explain all this to their families, but they had done it. And after a year, they were still together. No one had thought James would stay married that long, no one expected him to stay with one girl that long, ever. But he had, and now they had two little twins on the way, Kelsey was already in her sixth month. Time was flying, soon enough, he would be a father.
Soon enough James was back in his front yard, and so he had one cigarette, it was still early, Kelsey would probably be asleep for a good little bit yet. When he was finished with his cigarette he went upstairs to their bedroom, and showered and changed his clothes, and then started making arrangements for dinner at the restaurant he took her on many occasions, one she loved. And then he also was booking them in a hotel where no one would be able to find them and bring them all the annoyances of the outside world. Neither of their parents would know where they were so they could not interrupt their perfect evening. Or what he hoped would be a perfect evening.
"Well, this ought to do it..." James said to himself looking at what he had written out on several pieces of parchment in his chicken scratch handwriting. He was now out on the porch again, almost noon now, having another cigarette and looking over his final plans, waiting for Kelsey to wake up. This night would hopefully live up to last years, minus the alcohol. He just hoped to God it was good enough for her. He smiled to himself as he puffed on his cigarette, yes this would be a nice surprise for her. She had not even mentioned their anniversary for weeks. Like she was leaving it all up to him, and that is what he planned to do.

Saturday. Kelsey adored Saturday with all of her heart. This Saturday, however, was extra special. The first reason for this was because she could finally sleep in and not have to worry about school. The red head really hated school now. This school year a lot had changed. James was no longer there with her, a lot of her older friends had left, she was pregnant, and now she was totally vulnerable. Also, to make matters worst, she was a subject to bullying and for no reason. Gangs of girls would corner her in the hallways and make fun of her for various reasons. Their main target was the fact that she was pregnant and getting very fat. At least last year James was there to make people stop bulling her if they ever tried to but now he wasn't there, and she was vulnerable to all of the attacks of cruel verbal behavior.
All of this bullying that Kelsey experienced had really changed her too. The once truthful girl was now lying to everyone a lot. She was spiraling into a lying frenzy that she did not want to be a part of, but couldn't stop it. She was even lying to her husband at this point. He would leave early in the morning and she would not go to school, and then when he came home asking about her day she would lie and make up some story about her being at school, when in reality she spent the day lying in bed doing nothing.
All that aside though, there was another reason, besides no school, that Kelsey was ecstatic about this Saturday. A year ago on this day, she had said I do and married James. She could remember it like it was yesterday. She did not regret running away to get married. Now she had a loving husband, a wonderful house, and two children on the way. What more could she ask for? She felt like the luckiest girl in the entire world, which she probably was.
As the clock crept its way to noon, Kelsey felt her eyes flutter open. She awoke with a huge smile on her face, knowing that today was going to be amazing. Before she did anything else, the expecting mother to be waddled her way out of bed and to the bathroom to have a nice long pee. She had to pee about twenty times a day now, which was beginning to get really annoying. After finishing her call to nature, the red head washed up and made her way into the kitchen for a glass of milk. The house was oddly silent, meaning James was probably gone out for his run or something.
"James?" Kelsey called out as she held a glass of milk in her hands. She took a drink of the liquid before rubbing her stomach like she often did when she was waiting. In just six short months she had blown up to the size of a beach whale. She often felt fatter than fat, though James would assure her that she still looked as beautiful as ever, which naturally she denied. Sighing, Kelsey made her way into the living room where she heard noises on the porch. Sure enough, as she looked out the window, she saw James standing there. Smiling, she walked to the door and opened it.
"There you are. Thought you may have ran off on me and eloped with some other girl," Kelsey joked, smirking and leaning against the door frame. Her thick red hair was still in a mes from her slumber and all she wore was one of James' old baggy shirts that barely went to her mid thigh because of her stomach. If this had been a year ago, she would have been humiliated to look like this in front of James, but now she just didn't care. He was hers forever. That and she was just too lazy and too pregnant to get herself all dolled up this early in the day. Hell, he was lucky that she even got out of bed this early. Usually on the weekends Kelsey slept in until 2 or 3. All this baby business made her so tired that she felt like she could sleep for an eternity.

Standing on the front porch, James was going from staring at the parchment in front of him to staring at the bright yellow sun and the clouded sky above him. It was a particularly bright day for the time of year it is. Which was even more perfect because it had been nice weather the previous year and he hoped for only the best to bring Kelsey the perfect anniversary. He knew he was usually rather good at the romance thing, but he would soon run out of things in his bag of tricks. After all, before Kelsey he would use different things on different girls, and not often had he needed to come up with something new. Only because he was always on to another girl back then. But now he was with the love of his life, and he wanted things to be perfect for her.
Out of no where James heard his name being called from inside the kitchen and he smiled hearing Kelsey's voice. He was still outside smoking, and he wondered if she was going to come outside, even though she knew the point of him smoking outside was so that she was not around it. Then she walked outside and made a joke about him eloping with another girl and the smile on her face was the only obvious reason to know she was being sarcastic in the least. James knew she did not think he would leave her. Although that seemed to have been her fear when she first told him she was pregnant, but he had actually expected it. After all the times they had had sex un-protected it was a wonder she had not gotten pregnant ages before that.
James ashed his cigarette and exhaled the smoke out of his nose and turned to smile at his wife as she stood next to him on the porch. She looked beautiful as ever, even with her hair all messy and wearing one of his old shirts, her baby belly very noticeable now a days. James had known that she was going to get big, especially when she told him she was having twins. But he just could never imagine Kelsey pregnant until he actually saw her stomach start to swell more every time he saw her. Sometimes he would have to go days without seeing his wife, gone away at some Quidditch match while she was away at school.
"I figured I would save that for later tonight. Save the morning for my current wife." he said with a sarcastic smile on his face. He loved that the two of them could tease one another about that so openly and neither one would have a reason to suspect the other was serious. James loved Kelsey with all his heart and he hoped she knew that. After all he had been busy recently, and they were not having sex as often as they had before. He wondered if she was getting annoyed with him for that, but he hoped she understood that he was just busy and tired when he was not busy. James inhaled his smoke again and showed her the parchment, whether or not she could read anything on it was beyond him. He exhaled and looked at her.
"I have been making plans for tonight. All morning." he said with a smile on his face. James leaned over and kissed her cheek. "I love you babe, happy anniversary." he said softly just a whisper in her ear. He smiled at her and waited to see if she could tell what he had written down or if she was going to ask him what all that was. Right now either reaction would work for him, after all, guys are notorious for forgetting anniversaries and he had remembered. And that had to at least earn him a few brownie points with the hormonal, pregnant wife of his. Which was always a plus. Hopefully this was a start to a good day for the two of them.
