Rose walked out to the lake. It was late at night, and the full moon shone on the water. She was alone, but not for long. She was supposed to be meeting Maddy. Rose shook off her shoes and yanked her socks off. Sitting at the edge, she dipped her feet in. The young gryffindor figured she wouldn't go all the way under until Maddy knew she was here. She didn't want her friend thinking she had been "stood up." There was a tugging feeling in her gut as Rose remembered that Maddy couldn't really meet her sister until Bella regained her memory. That was really getting under her skin. The fact that her sister didn't remember her was getting much much further than under her skin. It was stabbing at her heart. Their meeting on the North Tower didn't really reassure her at all. What could she possibly do to jog her sisters memory? It was somewhere in there. It had to be. Maybe the best way to get her back was to get the source itself. Whoever had done this to her would pay. If Rose found out that this was the doing of a person, she would hunt down and cause serious pain to that person. When Maddy got there, Rose knew that would be something she would bring up to her friend. At least she had someone that she could talk to about anything. She loved Maddy so much for that. Not that there weren't other things that she loved about her friend. If there wasn't anything else, they wouldn't be friends. Rose could never forget their first meeting in the common room. It was so funny how she just offered the girl a cookie, and from there they became best friends. The little things that brought people together were a huge and very entertaining part of life. Like how she met Angie. Angie knocked her off the North Tower. And from there, they became close friends. Quite ironic.

well i'm starting to fall in love • A N D I T ' S G E T T I N G T O O M U C H •
• it's not often that i slip up • and it's just my luck ! Madelyn walked out of the Gryffindor common room after changing out of her robes and uniform. Yes, she looked like a mess, but she really didn’t care anymore. Maddy jogged down a few flights of stairs and out onto the grounds. It was dark and chilly outside. She placed her hands in the pocket of her hoodie and pulled her hat down until it almost covered her eyes. Maddy walked toward the lake and saw a familiar face sitting by the edge. Rose. She had a lot of stuff to talk about tonight and needed advice more than anything. Rose was always there for Maddy.
Madelyn adjusted her glasses and sat down beside her friend silently. She never normally wore her glasses out, but it was dark, and she knew that Rose wasn’t going to judge her. "Hey," she said softly. Maddy noticed that Rose’s feet were in the water. Hell no, she thought. I’m not going through this again. “I’m not going in the water, if that’s what you’re thinking.” The last time she went swimming in the lake with Rose, she nearly drowned. “I don’t want to repeat what happened last time,” she said with a chuckle.
“I’ve got some serious shit that I need your opinion about.” Madelyn tucked her knees up to her chest and wrapped her arms around her legs. Major guy problems; she didn’t know where to start. Maddy had been single for almost a year, and it never bothered her. All of the sudden, three guys were after her. One of them she felt bad for, the other one was adorable, and the last one she has had a crush on since she could remember. The last one was also one of her best friends. “Oh, Rose,” she said, “I don’t even know where to start with this one. It all happened at once.” Madelyn could sense that Rose was concerned and confused. “…And no, I’m not pregnant.”

Rose was close to laughing when the first thing Maddy said was that she wouldn't go through this again. The last time, she had nearly drowned. Rose hadn't realized what was going on until she went to look for her friend. Thinking about it made her smile. It was quite funny to look back on, though at the time it wasn't as funny. By the sound of Maddy's voice, Rose automatically knew what was wrong. "Sounds like guy trouble." she said, looking into her best friends eyes. This happened to be Rose's specialty. She was known for her trying to help people, but relationships? Those were the easiest for her to fix. The only problem was, she was wonderful at fixing other peoples relationship issues, but her own she couldn't do a thing. It was like she was blessed and cursed at the same time. She could help others, but in no way could she help herself. Then her friend said something about not being pregnant. "Well, yeah, I would kinda hope so." she said obnoxiously. Of all people to get pregnant at this young, Rose wasn't expecting it to be Maddy. If anything, she thought Kat would be more likely to get pregnant before Maddy. "So, spill. You're not pregnant, but it's definetly guy troubles. I can help you with that." Rose kicked her legs back and forth under the water, and as she brought her right leg up, she kicked a splash across the lake. She kept doing that with small kicks to make small splashes. Rose loved the sound of water on water, and then watching it ripple. It was the most beautiful thing. To her, at least. She looked back at her friend with anticipation in her eyes, wanting to know what was going on.

Madelyn wanted to tell Rose everything, but she didn’t know where to start. Should she start with the most recent events, or start form the beginning? She pushed her glasses back up her face. “Where should I start?" She asked her friend. She needed some clarification on something before they got too deep into this. “When a guy asks you if you’ve ever thought about them as a couple, does that mean that he’s implying that we should hook up?” Brendan asked her this a few days ago after quidditch practice. Maddy and Brendan have been best friends since first year and she has always had a major crush on him. But there is always something keeping them apart. Either his has a girlfriend or Maddy has a boyfriend or something along those lines. It was all too complicated.
Maddy was absolutely fine being single. She had no problem with it and actually enjoyed it. There was less confusion and fewer problems in her life. After all, Madelyn was in fact a walking fail. Almost everything she did, she screwed up in someway or another.
Rose knew about Maddy’s major crush on her best friend Brendan. She really couldn’t deny it. The two of them had a similar taste in guys. Down to earth, funny, caring, honest and of course, hot. They wouldn’t go out with any guy that wasn’t gorgeous. Brendan was all of these things plus, they were best friends. She had been waiting for him to ask her out for years now. And of course, she had just been asked out by another guy and said yes.
“Why am I so fucking stupid?” Madelyn asked her friend. She was really beating herself up about this whole mess. “I mean, I always have to do something to screw up my life.” She really needed to let this all out and she knew that Rose was probably the only person who would listen besides Brendan. “This is just my luck…” she said as she looked down into the black water. There was no way in hell that Madelyn was going in. Even if Rose lit a match under her ass, there was no way her skin was going to touch that water.

Rose wasn't surprised to hear all this from Maddy. She obviously needed to vent and knew that Rose was good for that. She couldn't figure out though at the moment who she was talking about, obviously a guy who had asked her about whether or not Maddy had ever thought about them as a couple. Did that necessarily mean he wanted to makeout? No. But who would ask her that? After a few moments of thinking, Rose figured it out. Brendan?! Maddy had had a crush on him forever! "Well, it doesn't mean he wants to make out, but that he was thinking about being more than friends with you. You have to tell me who this is. I need to know if I'm right!" She said smiling. This was really what she needed at the moment. Maddy could always make her feel better when she was feeling shitty. She refused to cry about this thing about her sister. Not here and now. She had done plenty of that already. Maddy needed someone right now. Rose kicked some more water and moved up a little, putting her legs in up to her knees. At some point she would go in, with or without Maddy. Maybe right before they would head to the common room, Maddy would wait up for her for a minute just to let her swim around. Rose left her legs in the water and layed back, putting her hands behind her head and laying on the grass. It felt good to be so comfortable. "You're not stupid," she said. "You just need a bit of guidance in the right direction."

"Well, it doesn't mean he wants to make out, but that he was thinking about being more than friends with you. You have to tell me who this is. I need to know if I'm right!" Whoa, this whole thing just went in the wrong direction, Madelyn thought. “Its Brendan, and, I don’t think you’ve grasped this the right way. I wasn’t talking about making out with him, I was talking about us dating.” She couldn’t help but to laugh at Rose. “Though, making out with him…yum,” Maddy smiled and lifted her eyebrows. Rose knew what she was thinking.
Madelyn’s mind switched back to her problem. “I’m seventeen and I can’t make the right decision for myself,” she said out loud. "You're not stupid," Rose said. "You just need a bit of guidance in the right direction." “Wow, gee, thanks,” Maddy said sarcastically, “I need more than a bit of guidance in that area.”
“Yeah, and that’s not the only issue I have,” she said. “You remember that cute dorky guy in Ravenclaw that had a crush on me, since like fourth year? Well, I think he asked me out.” This was where everything got confusing. Madelyn hadn’t seen Ethan around in a while. He hadn’t answered her owls. He just went M.I.A.
Madelyn watched as Rose leaned back onto the grass. She knew that Rose wanted to go for a swim. “I’m sorry, but I’m not going in,” she said with a slight smile. Maddy possessed a talent. She could read almost anyone’s emotions as well as telling if they were lying. With the people that she was close to, she could almost tell what they were thinking; it was as if she had a sixth sense. This made Madelyn feel special. It gave her strength and made her feel more powerful. Yes, she is short and vulnerable looking, but the people that knew her knew that she was no force to reckon with.
“I’ll wait for you later. I have some more shit to discuss,” Madelyn said with a smile, looking down at her old blue converse. She pulled her zebra hat down to her eyes and adjusted her glasses. The next item on the list to discuss was Chris, not the Chris that broke her heart last semester, the Chris that was always caring and nice to her. “The next part of the issue is Chris,” Maddy stated with a sigh, she didn't specify which Chris she was talking about. Rose knew about her whole mental breakdown last year with Christopher, she definitely wasn’t proud of it. But that wasn’t the Chris she was talking about. She was talking about Christian, the country musician. Oh how Madelyn loved country musicians with a passion.

Rose was honestly shocked that Maddy had 3 boys going after her all at once. She had only had one guy ask her out during this term! But thats to be asked out, how could Rose know if someone did take an interest in her, but never came forward? She hoped for someone soon. She had been single for quite some time, and she was lonely. Rose wanted a serious relationship, but figured she would get to that after one or two shorter relationships. But she had Brendan, Ethan, and Chris Cullen! Rose knew that that was the only "Chris" there could be. There were no other Christians in the school at the moment, as far as she knew, but more than likely, it was Chris Cullen, the country musician. She had met him once over at the Three Broomsticks before she met Maddy. It was surprising she remembered him after all she drank. They had had a short conversation about something... what she couldn't remember. Oh well. If he saw her again he probably would not remember her either. "I was right! I'm not surprised about Brendan you know, I kind of had a feeling about him. And Ethan the slick git from fourth year finally got up the guts to ask you out? That I am surprised at. And Chris Cullen? If I got it right, than that is just great. He is gorgeous, mate. If it were me, I would go with Chris. But thats just me. What do you think?" She looked over at her friend, her best mate, wondering who she would be best with. If it were Rose, she knew that she would take Chris, but it's not Rose. It's Maddy. Who seemed best for Maddy? Brendan was always really good to her and they've known each other forever, Maddy might not really want to ruin their friendship. Her and Ethan had never been close friends. Ethan just seemed to have a huge crush on her in fourth year, or so Rose had been told. Ethan, actually, seemed to be the best fit for Maddy. But, once again, it wasn't Rose's choice, it was Maddy's. Who did Madelyn want to be with?

“I think I’m gonna go with Brendan,” Madelyn replied and quickly looked down at the water, “I mean, we’ve known each other since, like, first year and I’ve always kinda liked him.” She had never admitted this to her before, but she knew that Rose already figured that out. Wow, three guys in maybe two weeks. This is really strange, Maddy thought. She had been single since last year and she was totally fine with it. Now she had three guys crawling all over her. This made her wonder if this was some kind of joke. She knew that Brendan wouldn’t joke around like this with her. Maddy really didn’t know the extent of damage that Ethan was capable of, she barely knew him. And Chris. People change, and again, she hadn’t seen him for a while. Everything was confusing and Brendan seemed to be the only one who couldn’t be joking. She trusted him with her life and if this was a joke, well, it wouldn’t be. Madelyn thought about hooking Rose and Chris up. It could possibly work out pretty well. She didn’t know what to do about Ethan though. He was really shy and dorky, which, to Maddy, was really cute. He would have had a better chance with me if he actually replied to my owls, she thought. She hated when people took a really long time answering her owls. It shouldn’t be that hard to write a note. He didn’t even have to write a note, he could have just told Samantha to tell me. But he didn’t, which put points against him.
“Do you think Brendan and I would be good together?” Madelyn asked Rose. She wanted someone else’s opinion on this. In Maddy’s eyes, Brendan is her perfect guy. He only had three tiny things against him. He didn’t play soccer, he didn’t play the guitar, and he was a Slytherin. They didn’t matter much. She could teach Brendan how to play soccer. And the fact that he was a Slytherin didn’t really matter much. Madelyn wasn’t the kind to judge based on house. She knew Brendan was different than the rest of them. Maddy could read emotions, and she could tell that Brendan actually had feelings for her.
Madelyn looked out onto the obsidian lake. It was quite beautiful. But she still didn’t want to go swimming. A chilly breeze swept past them making the glass-like water ripple. She looked over at her friend; “You have any comments on this?” Her icy blue eyes glowing compared to the dark surroundings.

Rose looked over at Maddy, and saw her eyes sparkling from the water. If she didn't know better, she would think her friend was sad. It was only then that she realized they had the same color eyes. Strange... They had been friends for so long, yet she never noticed this. Oh well, it was only a minor detail. "I have comments to say, yes." Rose said obnoxiously. "I think you and Brendan would be really good together. I could see it lasting." This was all true. She and Brendan did look like an adorable couple, which didn't mean much, but they still got along so well. Rose once had someone say to her and the guy she had had a thing for at Beauxbatons about how they would make a cute couple. He had said to the girl: "Yeah, but that doesn't mean it would work out." And he had said it with a tone of sadness in his voice. It was a major ouch. So even though some people would make a cute couple, it didn't mean it would work. But with Maddy and Brendan, Rose had confidence. She thought they would last for quite a while. Did she think he was THE ONE for Maddy? No, not really. But for now, it would be good for her friend to have a nice relationship. Especially after that other jerk she had dated really hurt her. Rose had heard all about it and had been bewildered that the guy Chris could hurt such a good person so badly. But that didn't matter at the moment. Her and Brendan was what was important.

“I think you and Brendan would be really good together. I could see it lasting,” Rose said. Madelyn looked into Rose’s eyes analyzing them. Rose had some doubts about this. She could see it. “You don’t have confidence in that, do you…” Maddy trailed off as she looked back down at her beat up converse. “You can’t hide it from me,” she said with a smirk, her eyes still concentrating on her shoes. A cool breeze made Madelyn’s light brown curls shift around. “I just don’t want to get hurt again, you know?” Chris had left her broken and she didn’t ever want that to happen again. The way he left her was almost unbearable; she couldn’t handle going through that again. If it ever did happen again, Maddy swore to herself that she would lock herself in her room and never come out again. She would let no one in or out and just sit there and stare at the walls that inclosed her. “Stop it!” She scolded herself. Madelyn broke out of her train of thought. She needed to think about more positive things. She focused on the moon. The moon cast a silvery glow over the lake causing it to shimmer. It reminded her of the nights she had spent with Chris. She remembered him whispering to her, “I will be chasing your starlight.” A single tear escaped from her eye and streaked down her cheek. Her memories always made her emotional. “No, it’s over. There is nothing I can do now,” Madelyn continued to tell herself. She wiped the tear from her cheek and rested her chin on her knees. Notes; Maddy is having a break down oh, and Chris signed up for the Marines and went MIA (i doubt you got my text.).

Rose knew that Maddy would probably figure it out. She wasn't stupid, and was very good at reading people, sort of like herself. "It's not exactly that I have doubts. I think you two are good for each other, but I only see this as a possible long term relationship. I don't really see it as being anything that will be exciting and romantic and all that. It'll just be.... I can't find the right word." And she couldn't. Rose then saw the tear escaping her friends eye. Her sixth sense already told her exactly what her friend was troubled over. Chris. He had really hurt Maddy, and Rose wasn't really sure if her friend ever fully recovered from that act. But she needed to forget about him and let him go to the best of her ability. Otherwise, his memory would hold her back. Rose knew first hand that letting that happen wasn't a good thing. Remembering him would mess up and ruin other relationships she would try to have. "You can't let him get you down, Maddy. Forget the guy. He's of no importance right now. And, even better," Rose had been so tempted to add this being her more sarcastic side was taking over. "He sucks. And I already told you that I'm 99.9% sure he's gay." Rose let out a maniacal laugh and looked up at the sky. The stars twinkled... The stars twinkled?! Oh my... This is the first time I've ever seen them... Truth be told, after all of her time here at Hogwarts, she had spotted the stars but once. The night she arrived she saw them. And she made a wish on a shooting star. The wish did come true, but telling it could cause a backfire. Since that night, Rose hadn't been able to find the same stars. She had seen maybe one or two others, but never the same shape she had been able to make out her first night. But now she saw vividly the awkward heart shape directly above her. And it felt... strange. Like she was supposed to be there. Something was there.

I don't really see it as being anything that will be exciting and romantic and all that. It'll just be.... I can't find the right word." Rose said. “Rose, that’s called having doubts,” Maddy pointed out to her friend. Wow, I can’t believe she doesn’t think it will last, she thought.
The lake reminded her of Chris, and that made her cry. She tried to hold it back as much as she could, but she couldn’t hold it in much longer. Madelyn silently let her emotions run. She placed her face in her hands and cried silent tears. Losing Chris was probably the hardest thing for her. When she was with Brendan, her memories with Chris slowly faded away. "You can't let him get you down, Maddy. Forget the guy. He's of no importance right now. And, even better," Rose added, "He sucks. And I already told you that I'm 99.9% sure he's gay." That didn’t make Madelyn feel any better. “I don’t think you heard the whole story, the real one,” Maddy said softly, wiping the tears from her face. “He didn’t break up with me. Which is what everyone thought. He…um…went missing. British army,” Maddy whispered. She had to pretend that he broke up with her so that everyone would leave her alone. Her thoughts were racing and colliding into each other.
“His friend told me that he was gathering up the courage to propose to me next summer. He wanted to wait until after I graduated ‘boarding school’.” Madelyn had to stop thinking about this, now, or else it would take over her mind like a disease that she could never get rid of. She wiped the tears from her face and sucked in all of her emotions. “I really like Brendan and I don’t give a shit about what everyone says,” she made her final statement about that. She mustered up a half smile. Just thinking about him made her feel better. She looked up at Rose to see her reaction.

Rose's chin dropped into her lap when Maddy finally confessed the truth to her about what really happened to Chris. Missing?! Maddy just told Rose that he broke up with her and ran off to the British army! How untrue that was... Rose was a tiny bit offended that her friend was first telling her this now, but she guessed Maddy really didn't want anyone to know. The important thing was she was telling her now. What do I say now? I just called him gay! And he was going to propose to her! Rose's heart sank into her chest with regret, uneasiness, and confusion. "Holy shit... Mads, I'm so sorry. Why didn't you tell me?!" What else could she say to her grief-stricken friend? What did Maddy want to do about this whole situation? Rose deduced that Maddy wanted to move on. At least for now. Seeing the tears fall down her friends face, Rose put a comforting arm around Maddy's shoulders and pulled her to try and rest her head on Rose's shoulder. Then she came up with something. "You know what? Good for you! You shouldn't care what anyone else thinks, just what you think and care about. And if you want to..." Rose thought very carefully about her next words. "We'll look for him after school. When we're done here, if that's what you want to do, that is what we'll do. Unless we hear otherwise about him in the next year or so." And they would. If Maddy wanted to, Rose would go with her and be right next to her the entire time. She wouldn't leave her side until the job was done.

"Holy shit... Mads, I'm so sorry. Why didn't you tell me?!" Rose said to her. “I didn’t tell anyone because I didn’t want people asking me about it, you know?” Madelyn knew that Rose probably didn’t know, but she would probably understand. Rose put her arm around her. Maddy rested her head on her friend’s shoulder. “I really like Brendan and I don’t give a shit about what everyone says,” she said, “I’m not giving up on Chris, but I have a feeling that he isn’t going to show up any time soon.” She wiped her tears. Rose spoke, "You know what? Good for you! You shouldn't care what anyone else thinks, just what you think and care about. And if you want to..." she pause for a few seconds, "We'll look for him after school. When we're done here, if that's what you want to do, that is what we'll do. Unless we hear otherwise about him in the next year or so."
Madelyn was dumbfounded by Rose’s suggestion. “What the fuck?” Maddy couldn’t help but laugh at her friend. “He went M.I.A., he’s not playing hide-and-go-seek.” She sat up and lifted an eyebrow and looked up at her friend, confused. Was she really serious about that? Madelyn thought. She could tell that Rose was serious about that. “I think you’re having a blond moment.” This was definitely one of her best blonde moments. Did she really thing you could just go out looking for a missing marine and find him? You can’t just Accio him back to Cheshire. Maddy reached out and placed the back of her hand on Rose’s forehead. “Are you okay?” she asked. That was one of the stupidest answers she had ever heard. But again, this was Rose. She had these moments all the time. This was nothing out of the ordinary.
notes; Dee. Blonde moment much?

Maddy's reaction took Rose a bit by surprise. She knew Chris wasn't playing "hide-and-go-seek", as her friend put it, but if they looked, maybe they could find him hiding out somewhere, or at that point they would most likely find his.... body. But Rose had to admit, it wasn't one of her more brilliiant ideas. She had blonde moments all too often, though she truly couldn't help it. Rolling her eyes, she said: "I'm fine, thanks. Brilliant, actually. So, if Brendan is your final decision and you don't give a shit, why are you asking me for my advice?" It was obvious that Maddy couldn't come up with her own concrete answer, and that was why she was coming to Rose for help. There would be no other reason for her to ask. Maybe she was almost sure about Brendan, but wanted a friend's support in order to make her final decision and feel good about it? A highly likely possibility. But it did seem as though her firend was feeling better, making jokes and all that. She was probably starting to truly let him go. As Rose thought about it, she wondered whether she would be able to let go of someone she cared about like that. She didn't think so, but what if she could? And if she didn't, what would become of her? Many questions ran through her head, unnecessary and stupid questions. She shook her head to rid herself of the many confusing thoughts, and looked back at Maddy.
notes;; forgive me, my face is still peeling off xD and u no my blonde moments are too much for even me to handle! god!
