Katherine walked around the grounds at night. She didn’t particularly like people, especially the ones here. Scratch that. She just didn’t like people. End of story. It was quiet and desolate. She walked along the edge of the forbidden forest. Yes, she knew that she wasn’t supposed to be there, but this was Kat, she didn’t care. She walked along spinning and staring into the darkness of the forest.
Kat was still in her uniform; her emerald robes flowed behind her. She enjoyed the peaceful quietness of being alone. If anyone disturbed her at the moment she would probably punch them. Kat also enjoyed punching people. She didn’t really have any friends, besides Angie and Maddy. Her enemies spanned the globe. She had so many enemies that she couldn’t count them all on her fingers.
Katherine wondered about how everyone was doing back at home, not that she really cared much. They kicked her out she shouldn’t care anymore. She was on her own now. Kat wondered how her lovely Alex was doing. She hadn’t seen him in a few weeks. He was a year older than her and a Gryffindor. Being a Slytherin, the other students in her house didn’t like it that much. Kat really didn’t understand the whole “house” thing. At Beauxbatons they didn’t have anything like that. They just separated us my year, which, in her eyes, was much simpler than this. But then again, Kat’s life was anything but simple. She felt that being a Slytherin, she had some kind of stereotype to live up to. Which was weird to her. Yes, she was a bitch, she couldn’t deny it, but what did it matter?
A twig snapped behind her. Katherine’s head whipped around with cat-like reflexes. Her eyes glowed bright yellow like headlights. She resisted the urge to pounce forward and morph into her cat form. She couldn’t give herself up that easily. Kat pulled out her wand. She didn't use lumos because her cat-like senses allowed her to see perfectly in the dark, but it was good to be prepared. She didn't plan on using her wand, if she needed to, she would just knock the person out. W O R D S;; not sure?! T A G;; Brooke?! N O T E S;; gah. crap post?! O U T F I T;; here?! THE TRUTH COMES OUT IN THE BREAKDOWNS( • M E M O R I E S M Y G O D T H E S E M E M O R I E S • )The seconds ticked by, and the minutes dragged on, eventually, hours had past since Brooke Lynn Alexandra was in the Forbidden Forest. For someone to say she was angry, would've been an understatement. She was angry when someone had stolen her clothes when she was swimming in the Black Lake. Now, she couldn't even find a word to express how she felt. Furious even seemed like an understatement to her. For the last two hours of her life, Brooke had been in the forest, blowing up trees left and right. Only about twenty minutes ago did she decided to take a break.
How dare her parents not tell her that she wasn't the youngest child in the family?! They had kept the fact that she had a younger sister since she was two! They didn't even tell her. Until they had found out that the girl was now attending school with her? Katherine Evans was the girl's name. Apparently, Brooke's parents didn't even get to name their new child before the adoption. No surprise to Brooke though. The girl had a name like Katherine, or Kat. Who names their child after a feline?
With a sigh, Brooke Lynn went to make her way back to the castle, when a twig snapped beneath her foot, making her jump and take out her wand, just in case it wasn't her that had broken the twig. Pointing her wand at herself, she muttered, ""Protego" knowing that she was now protected from all harm that came from a curse or spell. Taking another few steps, with her wand out stretched, Brooke came face to face with the one person she pitied at the moment. The girl didn't approach her throughout the year, which meant that the poor girl didn't know she was adopted.
Lowering her wand slightly, Brooke looked at her little sister, her face showing how truly sorry she was. She shouldn't have been sorry though. It wasn't her fault her parents gave her up, or didn't want her. Brooke put her wand at her side and looked at the girl, "I don't want to fight. Lower your wand, Katherine." she said calmly. Never in her life had she had one conversation with the girl. So it wouldn't serve as a shock to her if the girl didn't know how Brooke knew her name. The answer would be simple to give, since the letter with all the explanations as well as the picture of Kat from a few years ago seemed to weigh a hundred pounds in her back pocket.

“I don’t want to fight. Lower your wand, Katherine,” the stranger said. Kat had a mini panic attack in her head. She could see the girl, bright red hair, obviously older, but she didn’t know her. How could she know my name if I don’t even know her? she asked herself. She knew that gossip spread like a wild fire around Hogwarts, but to everyone else she was a nobody. Katherine kept her wand at the ready. She stepped toward the girl silently. Being part feline, she could walk through a pile of crunchy autumn leave and not make a sound. Katherine stopped a mere few feet away from the girl. “Lumos,” she whispered. The tip of her wand lit up brightly in the girl's face. The shock of light obviously startled the unknown person, probably blinding her for a few seconds. Kat’s pupils narrowed, adjusting to the light, her citrine yellow eyes glowing.
“So, you obviously know me, but who are you?” Katherine asked. She circled the girl silently, her lit wand out in front of her still pointing at her victim. It was as if a lion was stalking its pray. She tried to place the girl. The red head was clearly a student, she couldn’t be old enough to be a professor. Kat listened closely. The girl’s heart was beating rapidly. Katherine smirked. “You seem nervous,” she said almost evilly. Ha, this was when being a cat animagus was actually helpful. She could scare the crap out of someone just by listening. Katherine could sense that the girl was tense and fidgety.
Katherine stopped circling when she stood in front of the girl. She noticed the expression on her face. It was sympathy. Wait, what? Kat thought. She had to do a double-take an check that she was seeing this right. She backed down, not knowing what else to do. No one had ever showed her any sympathy since her father was murdered. Kat was confused. How does she know who I am? Why does she seem sorry for me? “W-what’s going on here?” Kat asked. She usually wasn’t nosy when it came to other people’s business, but this seemed like it included her. After all, there was no one else out here in the dark by the forbidden forest.

THE TRUTH COMES OUT IN THE BREAKDOWNS( • M E M O R I E S M Y G O D T H E S E M E M O R I E S • )Brookelynn Alexandra wasn't about to be intimidated by a Slytherin girl, haring the same blood as her, who was also two years younger. In fact, she couldn't have been more relaxed. Although word about Kat had spread through the school life wildfire, she was unafraid of the minor, mediocre pranks her darling little sister played on people. People actually found her scary? What a joke! She looked completely innocent. Then again, so did Brooke when she was little and she set a girl's hair on fire. It served the kid right though for telling Brooke her hair looked like wild fire, only apparently that was an insult to wild fire. Bitch.
As the girl spoke, Brooke couldn't help but smirk.
[/i]“So, you obviously know me, but who are you?”[/i] Such a naive girl. Of course Brooke knew her! She knew about everything that happened within the walls of Hogwarts, and each childish prank played by Kat eventually reached her ears. Normally, she wouldn't care what Kat did. Now, Kat had a new found reputation to keep. She was part of Brooke's family, and there was no way an Evan was going to bring her family's name down in flames. "Brookelynn Alexandra. Yes, it is like the place." she said calmly with a loose shrug. There was no reason for her not to know her name, although...maybe it was better if Kat didn't know her real last name. Then she wouldn't be able to destroy it! Oops. Too late now. “You seem nervous,” Katherine had said. Did she now? Then, Brooke noticed something about the little sister in front of her. Her eyes. They were yellow. Like a cat. Katherine....Kat...Cat...Oh! The girl was an animagious. And that meant that she had the senses of one too. Brooke sighed. It was a shame. Had the girl known she was a veela, she could've worked to sharped those senses, now, compared to that of a cat, it would be difficult for her to meet the full potential of her veela abilities. Brooke on the other hand, had been working since she was a child to perfect her senses. Now, with the more time over Kat, Brooke's senses were twice hers. "You simply hear my heart, right?" Brooke said with an amused smile plastered on her face, "Not a surprise to me. You're heart beats just as fast. It's the heart of a veela. Naturally faster, although we can't really tell, now can we?"The girl was probably ready to shit herself with what Brooke had said to her. After all, if Kat didn't even know who she was, then how could the poor girl explain how she knew Kat was an animagious, or a veela. Meanwhile, Brooke knew all of this simply by the girl's smell. She reeked of kitty and veela. And kitty smell was winning. Ick. Then, Kat backed away from Brooke, as though she was the scariest thing in the forest. Which meant one thing. Kat realized the look on Brooke's face, and realized that it was for her. The smirk that had been playing on Brooke's lips vanished, and her pink lips settled in a line, watching her sister back away, as confused as Brooke was in Potions class. Poor thing. She had no idea that her entire life was a lie. It took everything Brooke had inside of her not to go to touch her sister when Kat spoke. “W-what’s going on here?” The poor girl was stuttering. She was scared and confused. Brookelynn's breath came out in a sigh and she want to lean against a tree, taking out the picture and letter out of her back pocket. She slid down till her ass touched the floor of the Forest and looked at the parchment in her hand, turning it by its edges in her hand. How on Earth was she going to ruin everything this girl ever knew to be?! Taking a deep breath, Brooke started to read the letter in her hand. "Our dearest daughter Brooke; we feel it's time to tell you a little bit more about your siblings. Over the years, you knew yourself to be the youngest out of the Alexandra siblings. That isn't entirely true, darling. You see my dear, when you were merely two years old, your father and I blessed you with a little sister. On June 26th, the night of her birth, was also the night we had to give her away. Recently though, we received news of her stay at Hogwarts and felt it was time to know. Dear Brookelynn, befriend Katherine Evans, she has always been family to you." She finished the letter, her voice calm, fluent, and a perfect imitation of her mother's voice throughout the reading, and looked at Kat, awaiting her response. “Brookelynn Alexandra. Yes, it is like the place,” the girl said. Kat hadn’t heard anything about this Brooke girl, but then again, she tried to avoid people and drama. She told Brooke that she seemed nervous and Brooke’s answer was not what Katherine wanted to hear. “You simply hear my heart, right.” Kat nodded. That was what she heard. Brooke’s facial expression changed from sincere to amused and it was confusing the poor fifteen year old. “Not a surprise to me. Your heart beats just as fast. It’s the heart of a veela. Naturally faster, although we can’t really tell, now can we?” Kat shot Brookelynn a piercing glare. “I’m not a veela,” she stated. No one in the Evans family was a veela, which meant that there was no way that Kat could be one. She was sure of it. She wasn’t even sure what a veela was. “Wait, how can you tell that I’m a veela? I’m not one though, right?” She sensed that Brooke knew that she was an animagus too.
This whole conversation with a complete stranger was confusing poor Katherine to the point of insanity. How could Brooke know one of her deepest secrets? The only people that knew that she was an animagus were Maddy, Rose, Angie and Azalynn. Was it possible that one of them let her secret out? If this were true, Kat would have some major ass kicking to do. Brooke’s smirk left her face and was replaced by a look of sympathy. No no no! Kat thought. If she knew this much, she probably knew more. What else could she know? “W-what’s going on here?” she asked, she was quite scared, she couldn’t hide it.
Brooke walked over to a nearby tree and slid down until she was sitting. Kat followed, not knowing what else to do. She sat down in the grass in front of Brooke and crossed her legs Indian style. Brooke took a letter out of her back pocket. What she was about to read, was the last thing Kat wanted to hear. Every word hit the girl like a ton of bricks. Brooke started to read the letter. "Our dearest daughter Brooke; we feel it's time to tell you a little bit more about your siblings. Over the years, you knew yourself to be the youngest out of the Alexandra siblings.” Kat had to cut her off. “W-wait, why are you reading this to me?” she asked in the most innocent voice. She was so confused right now. Brooke shot her a glare that meant ‘let me finish or I’ll rip your head off.’ Kat shut up. “That isn't entirely true, darling. You see my dear, when you were merely two years old, your father and I blessed you with a little sister. On June 26th, the night of her birth, was also the night we had to give her away.” Whoa, that’s my birthday; Kat thought and then continued listening. “Recently though, we received news of her stay at Hogwarts and felt it was time to know. Dear Brookelynn, befriend Katherine Evans, she has always been family to you." Brooke finished reading the letter calmly. “This is a joke, right?” Kat asked. Oh how she hoped to bloody hell that this was a joke.
This was one of the cruelest jokes anyone had ever played on Katherine; she didn’t even think Rose would do such a thing. Hell, Kat herself wouldn’t even do something like this. Her eyes slowly darkened from a bright golden color to a deep chocolate color filled with emotion. She looked up at Brooke whose expression was blank at the moment. What was that supposed to mean? Kat thought about the letter for a moment. “Wait, that’s not true, it can’t be.” She refused to believe what she had been told. Tears started to swell up in her now chocolate brown eyes. She held them back, trying to force herself to believe that what she had been told was a lie.

THE TRUTH COMES OUT IN THE BREAKDOWNS( • M E M O R I E S M Y G O D T H E S E M E M O R I E S • )Everything Brookelynn had told the poor girl was probably confusing the hell out of her. She had done her research on the Evans family and found that there was no veela in the family. Just about everything that ran through Alexandra family's veins was missing from the veins of the Evans. It was a wonder the girl didn't notice sooner. Everything the girl knew about herself was a lie. The truth was completely different, and she knew it would be a lot for poor Katherine to take in. Brooke truely felt sorry for the kid, she couldn't imagine what the girl would go through knowing all of this.
As the girl spoke, Brooke felt even worse. “I’m not a veela,” she had said. She seemed so sure of herself and who she was. Damn...Brooke would seem like the devil in disguise when she took everything Kat knew and destroyed it. She watched Kat nodd, and then the look of confusion came back to her face. Nobody should have to second guess who they were. Ever. And it pained Brooke to know that her little sister was going through that. Although she hardly knew Kat, she still loved her as though she had known her since birth. It was her parents she wasn't happy with. They had no right to give her sister away, even if she wasn't a planned child. She was still her sister.]
“Wait, how can you tell that I’m a veela? I’m not one though, right?” Brooke almost choked on her own breath. The girl had no idea what was true or false. Normally, that wouldn't bother Brooke, but it was about who a person was. And that simply turned Brooke's insides. She sighed and met her sister's eyes. "I can tell because of the way you smell. You are a veela, and you've been one since birth. Have you notice how naturally beautiful you are to the male eyes? It's in your blood." Brooke said. As she spoke, she studied Kat's face, making sure the girl was understanding everything Brooke told her.
It made Brooke feel a little bit better when Kat came over and sat down infront of her, instead of running away or hexing her. As Brooke read, Kat interrupted her once. “W-wait, why are you reading this to me?” she had asked. Brooke shot her a look that clearly said "If you'd let me finish you'd find out. Now shut up." The girl immediately shut up. Good. She knew how to read expressions. They'd get along just fine. Finally, Brooke finished reading, and studied the girl infront of her, watching as her facial expression changed to a look of pain. “This is a joke, right?” Katherine said. Brooke shook her head no slowly, "I would never joke about something that involved my family." she spoke, her voice strong and serious, but still gentle or the sake of her sister.
Then the tears formed in Kat's eyes, and Brooke was overcome with an urge to comfort her little sister. God damn, she felt awful! The poor girl was trying so hard to convince herself that it was all just some kind of a sick, twisted joke. How wrong she was. “Wait, that’s not true, it can’t be.” Kat said. Brooke moved slightly, to sit like Kat, directly in front of her, her eyes washing over her sisters. "Katherine...Kat...it's not a sin to cry in front of your own sister. she said with a small smile, leaning back a little. In fact, I expect you to cry.

“I can tell because of the way you smell. You are a veela, and you’ve been one since birth. Have you noticed how naturally beautiful you are to the male eyes? It’s in you blood.” How did Brooke know that I’ve been a veela since birth, I’ve only known her for about five minutes, Kat thought. “I don’t believe you,” she stated calmly.
After Brook finished reading the letter out loud, Katherine refused to believe it. The Evans’ couldn’t have possibly adopted her. Wouldn’t they have told her by now? This had to be some kind of joke. Brooke spoke, her voice was strong and serious. “I would never joke about something that involved my family.”
Kat tried to force herself to believe that every word out of Brooke’s mouth was a lie. It was a cruel prank set up by someone that deeply hated her. Despite Kat’s beliefs, everything seemed to make sense. She was the only person in her family that had fire truck red hair. Kat looked up at Brooke. The two of them looked very similar; they had the same hair and similar features. Katherine realized that important fact. She had also known that her parents adopted Brody. Tears swelled in Kat’s chocolaty eyes. “Wait, that’s not true, it can’t be,” she said. Her thoughts repeated in an attempt to convince herself.
“Katherine…Kat…it’s not a sin to cry in front of your own sister. In fact, I expect you to cry,” Brooke said with a small smile. Kat blinked and her eyes changed from dark brown to piercing yellow. Brooke was not her sister! “Don’t call me Kat!” Katherine snapped at her sister, “You don’t even know me!” This couldn’t be happening. She felt her warm tears stream down her cheeks, she couldn’t control them. Kat got up from her seat in the grass and leaped into the forbidden forest. In mid air, she morphed into her feline form and began to sprint. She wanted to get as far away from the stranger that claimed to be her sister, the stranger that told her these lies. The bright orange cat ran as fast as it could, swerving around trees, deep into the heart of the forest. Katherine hoped that Brooke had enough common sense not to follow her.
She finally made it to a small opening surrounded by trees and lit by only the moonlight. Kat transformed back into her human form and walked over to sit on a flat rock off to the side of the clearing. She sat on it and pulled her knees up to her chest, covering her face with her hands. Kat cried silently. She let her emotions explode into her hands, suffocating in confusion, hate, and disbelief. Brooke’s story couldn’t be true, it just couldn’t. The more Kat thought about it, the more it made sense, and the harder she cried. If Katherine hadn’t been crying so hard, she would have heard the footsteps that walked toward her.
