ain't worried about tomorrow* WHEN YOU'RE BUSY LIVING IN A PERFECT DAY ----------
As a child the one thing that Tinsley loved to do was bake. The McLaggen family never had a house elf, so learning to cook and bake was something that tinsley learned from her mother, father, and grandparents combined. While cooking was fun, baking was sweeter, literally. As a child, Tins could be found in the kitchen, flour on her face, hair messy, slaving away at the perfect batch of cookies. It was something she was cooed over, something she did as a hobby since she was absolutely positively scared of flying like most her siblings. So when her siblings were out flying, she was away in the kitchen. If Tins was out of the kitchens, she was out in the yard or sneaking away to a hide-out to meet her next door neighbor. While most would think it was just little girls being little girls, hiding away in the woods behind their yards, it was what the had to hide. See her best friend, the girl Tinsley was meeting in the yard, was none other then the famous pureblooded Goyle daughter. While Doryen was as sweet as pie, her parents weren't exactly as understanding to their daughter hanging out with the McLaggen girl. But little girls bad together and as children Doryen and tinsley were the epitome of best friends. You can bet that Tinsley never thought twice about snagging a couple of extra cookies for a meeting in the woods with her best friend, her mother always wondered where the cookies she made went, but it was Tinsley's secret, and as a child she kept it very well.
Now as the Hufflepuff grew older, she grew a bit distant from Doryen. It wasn't that Tins disliked the girl or Doryen disliked her, they were just so different and they hardly sawone another. Until recently when they started growing close again. In a way Doryen was like her brown haired twin sister. They were so similiar in actions, except Doryen, in Tinsley's opinion, fit in much better. She was a proper pureblood and was raised that way. She got all the hottest party invites, she knew how to have fun, and she had guys lining up for her. Sometimes Tins grew envious of how easy the girl had it, but Doryen was such a sweetheart and looked over Tins so well, that she couldn't stay jealous for long. Doryen always let Tins tag along and helped Tinsley grow her up and coming social life. For that tins was thankful, but sometimes, when Tinsley was feeling bored she liked to run of to the kitchen to revisit her childhood pass time of baking.
Thankfully for Tinsley, the kitchens were located down near her very own common room, making them more accessible. She rounded corners in the corridor until she came face to face with the portrait. She rubbed the pear, waited for it to swing open, and then took her entrance. She gave a small wave to the passing elves, a smile on her face. Sometimes Tinsley felt bad for the elves, wishing that they'd seek freedom, but she knew that many of them liked it here. If she learned anything at History of Magic, she knew that they often times enjoyed their roles in the kitchen. She gave a few hellos to those passing her on their way, before she scurried to the cabinets and grabbed the ingredients she needed for chocolate chip cookies. Placing everything on the small table, she grabbed a bowl , and started with the eggs. Her eyes snapped up at the sound of something on the other side of the wall. As the portrait swung open, Tinsley stopped and raised the egg in her hand and aimed it toward the door. She waited a moment, until she got a view of the person, before throwing the egg at the person intruding on her personal space. Hey, she was just protecting herself, after all. --------------------------------------------------- TAGGED: doryen! STATUS: complete! it's a new dawn, it's a new day, it's a new life for me The day had come and gone, pretty much in a flash. A group of Slytherins had chosen not to come to classes, and just lounge in the common room. It was, in their eyes, a very productive day, but there were a few things missing. One, there were no cigarettes at an arm's reach. They'd been caught smoking, again! So they tried attempting to see how addicted they really were. The result? Very addicted. It was a dirty habbit, that none of them had really taken an interest in in their previous years at school. They were labelled as the gothic junkies of Hogwarts, but hey, this was a new generation, sod the history. And the second thing that was missing from a great day in the common room was Doryen's good friend, Tinsley. Their friendship was frowned upon, mostly because Tinsley wore yellow, and Doryen wore green. But of course, Doryen never took any 'blood type' or house color to heart. She hated judging people that way, and was a bit pissed that her friends did things that way, but they knew not to force Doryen away from her friends, they knew her that well. But Doryen had to settle for her more prejudice, stuck-up prat friends, because life would be pretty boring in a common room with no friends at all. She needed these Slytherins, just for company and some source of frindship, but she knew that this wasn't real. Doryen knew real friendship. She had it, and she was just speechless that she could share a frienship with someone quite like Tinsley.
With no attention payed to the time, the group of friends had missed dinner, and because of them being lazy arses, Doryen found herself heading to the kitchen alone, for a little snack. She walked through the dark dungeon halls, barefoot, and in her pyjamas. She didn't understand how people thought she was depressing, because here she stood, in blue stripey bottoms, and a yellow tank-top. She understood how they found her dark. She was definately gothic, but she, unlike some goths and emos, enjoyed life. So as she walked, in a sort of hurried motion, she found that it was a little chilly. It was as though her feet were touching ice, so she tried to keep her feet moving as fast as possible, but then she found she was hopping quite awkwurdly, so she stopped, and just started walking quickly again, with her arms folded tightly across her chest. Being a seventh year, you were supposed to set a good example for the younger students. Doryen didn't really fit the bill at all, but she stayed at school, merely because she was still discovering the muggle world. She was only really at school for Charms, Muggle Studies and Transfiguration. She didn't really belong in the magical world, she had no true interest in the matter, but she endured it, because it would please her parents, considering she'd disappointed them throughout her whole life. Doryen sighed as she reared a corner and passed a few younger students, two boys who were heading the way Doryen came. They were Slytherins, and they'd given Doryen a short nod to her, showing their appreciation for the girl. Doryen was a great laugh, to everyone in Slytherin. She was mostly friends with the boys, and it bothered some girls. Jealousy perhaps, but Doryen didn't ever let it get to her. She remained fairly oblivious to any bitching that was going on.
She finally reached the kitchen and muttered the password to the portrait, desperate to get off this stone cold floor below her. To it's cheek, the portrait only swung slowly open. Doryen glared up at the painted man and pushed the portrait forward, stepping in and looking ahead to see someone baking, but her sight was momently tarnished by some sticky substance. Doryen reached up and found bits of egg shells in her hair. She sighed and spat some of the slime from her mouth and ever so casually, placed both hands on her hips. "So this is your new greeting for me?" She asked in a mocking tone. At first she seemed really ticked off, but as she wiped the egg from her eyes, and found her sight again, she saw Tinsley standing before her. Doryen walked forward and took a handful of flower and was standing very, almost dangerously close to Tinsley. "Well here's mine. HELLO!" And she flicked the flour into Tinsley's face and grinned, stepping out of the way, knowing Tinsley would most definately respond for the worst.
