Victoria’s hunger was growing more and more. She could see why her father would hunt every night he could. With Summer just ending, the nights were longer and they had more time to hunt, but fewer people were around in the Fall and Winter at night. Unlike the Spring and Summer, there seemed to be an ample amount of humans around: which was amazing. She was storing up for the Winter, and gods did she ever feel like a bear. She was out every night and teaching every day. But what had to be done, had to be done… it was just unfortunate. She was almost shaky with the lack of sleep, but she would take a potion in the morning to keep her awake and alert during her classes. She sighed lightly as she looked down at the deer in front of her. She hated deer, but if students and faculty went missing, she would land herself in Azkaban and would probably not survive long; so preventative cautions were being made. She had her bag with her, full of vials and corks that she could keep in her office. She drained the deer of its last drops of blood and swallowed it. She had enough vials in her bag for a couple weeks, and then she would be back out again for more. But with her growing hunger, things were going to have to change. She blinked her eyes a few times so that they turned back to her normal color instead of red. She cleared her throat and licked her lips getting rid of any evidence that she had just been drinking blood. She walked over to the water and reached in to grab a handful and splashed it on her face, wiping the rest of with her sleeve. She looked in the water, but saw no reflection. At times she hated that, but at others, it meant that she was able to know what she looked like and make sure she was spick and span every day without a mirror. She smiled lightly and then stood up, walking around the forest. She didn’t need a light since she could see and she walked over to a clearing just a dozen meters from the forest edge. Settling on a rock at the center of it, she looked up into the sky and saw that the moon was headed to the east, it was after midnight, probably closer to one in the morning. She sighed, her breath just visible in the air, and she looked around. Being full-blood vampire, there were benefits: She could sit in the clearing and watch animals without them knowing she was there. There was nothing but her motion to give her away, and she didn’t move. She watched a mother doe and her fawn grazing in the grass, just next to the trees in case something came. Another plus was her hearing, she could hear when a heart beat would speed up or when it was slow, she could hear people talking a lot farther away, even though it was faint. She heard Centaurs talking a ways away and she knew she was safe here as long as she didn’t scream or yell at anyone. She could also see in the dark, which was helpful since she could only come out during the night or in very dark rooms, which her classroom was. She turned her head to the left as she hear someone coming towards her. She tuned in and heard a man’s strong heartbeat in the distance. She wondered just who it was, but she kept her eyes on the spot where she guessed he would emerge. _______ Words: 616 Tagg: Little Red Outfit: hereNotes: why hello muse!

Keiran buzzed around his kitchen table, it being filled with all sorts odd-shaped things. Mostly containing a type of liquid. The small vial in his hand held a thick red liquid, like blood. Well, it should have looked like blood, because it was. He was curious as to what the genetic differences there were between a wolf, werewolf and wolf animagus. Though he knew an animagus was changed by magic, he couldn't help but wondering how their genetic makeup change. The science behind the change instead of the simple answer of "magic". The blood of the animagus and werewolf were given to him as a favor from his friends, of course. Just as he was about to start extracting the DNA, something white flashed in the corner of his eye. He looked at his watch. "One in the morning already? Bloody hell..." Just as he looked out the window, he saw something disappear into the forest. He furrowed his eyebrows. Not wanting to leave the blood out to coagulate, he put them into small plastic containers and into the freezer. He pulled on a coat and walked out into the chilly air. It wasn't freezing yet, because it wasn't winter, but the night definitely had a bite to it. He followed the path he thought the thing had gone and found himself in a small clearing. Luckily, the clouds were on his side and didn't cover the half-moon. On a rock, close the center, sat what he thought was person. "Excuse me, but you shouldn't really be out here at night. It's dangerous." His voice wasn't nervous, not in the least. Whatever this thing was, he'd seen it before... Probably. The only thing he feared in the forest were werewolves, and they didn't have a transformation tonight. He took a step closer, wondering if maybe if he were nearer there was a possibility he could see it better. He knew it wasn't a ghost because he always kept his guard up. He rubbed his eyes, the late night finally catching up to him. Which made him realize that it could be a ghost. When he was tired, his resolve fell and somtimes a few spirit's, usually the newer, stronger one's, slipped through. He really hoped it wasn't a ghost though. He wasn't in the mood.

Whomever it was, they seemed a little irritated. His foot steps were heavy and direct, which meant that he wanted to take care what ever his problem was out here. She didn't want to be that problem, but she normally was not approached if she did not do something. She guess that since it was one in the morning and no one was supposed to be out, she was the problem and maybe it was another professor expecting a student. She looked over and as they emerged from the forest, she smiled lightly. It was a professor, she just could not remember his name.
"Excuse me, but you shouldn't really be out here at night. It's dangerous.
She nodded lightly and stood up gracefully and silently, not bothering the still grazing deer. "Oh, I'm all right Professor. I just could not sleep," she retaliated. In fact, the only thing she really had to worry about was werewolves that were not fond of vampires. And even then her combat skills were enough to keep her safe against one of those. She walked over to him and held out her hand as she stopped just a couple feet from him. "I am Victoria Harker, the Potions Professor. And I am terribly sorry, but I have seemed to forget your name." She smiled lightly and then took a deep breath. He smelt like blood and this intrigued her. She leaned in a little, but not enough for him to notice. Was he one of her own kind? Or was something else up his sleeve?

Keiran waited for the person to reply. As his eyes adjusted, he realized that the person was a woman, though he still wasn't sure if the person was a live or dead. Little did he know that she was neither. He saw her stood up with such grace, he was surprised. He had seen vampires before, but in very brief instances. He knew one worked at the school, though he never actually talked to her, so he couldn't bring up her name in his mind. He wasn't sure that this was a vampire, because the night was still dark and his mind could very easily be playing tricks on him, but he didn't exactly have a mirror with him to check either. For the time being, for politeness and his own sanity, he figured he's simply think of her as only human, not some other worldly creature, whether that was a spirit or a vampire.
When he heard her words, Keiran realized that she went here. Or, as he was able to notice when she got closer, taught here. He smiled a little bit, only kindly, no flirtatious glint. But he had to admit, she was very attractive. "I'm not a proffesor," he says chuckling. Then, "Well, I guess in the technical sense. But I'm the groundskeeper, Keiran Hayes." He reached a hand out to her for her to shake. "I'm going to go ahead and assume that you work here?" He looked at their surroundings and said "So instead of meandering the quiet grounds or perhaps the castle, you decided to wander into the Forbidden Forest which is filled with some of the most dangerous creatures?" His voice wasn't at all mean or condescending. It was amused and he said it with a smile.

Victoria had always had a curiosity about humans and how they worked, in fact... that's what attracted her to them as lovers. Which made no sense as to why she had been falling in love with Dante who was another Vampire, but those wonderments would be left for another time. At this point, she wanted to see what this guy was all about and why he smelt like blood. That's what was so curious for her. She smiled lightly and as the shake ended she looked at his eyes and he asked her why she wasn't just meandering on the grounds or in the halls instead of in the dangerous forest. She smiled and shrugged.
"I like it outside here better. And the grounds are too.... blank. The forest has many things to see and even do, no matter what time of night it is.." she looked around for a moment, sighing, and then slowly looking back at him. "And you may just be a grounds keeper, but you are part of the staff. But if you prefer, I can just call you Keiran?"
He had some amazing blood on him that she had not smelt before, but it was calling her half-full stomach to attention and she was craving it. She wondered where the source was, but could probably find it later. For now, she just wanted someone to talk to and see where it went from there.

"I like it outside here better. And the grounds are too.... blank. The forest has many things to see and even do, no matter what time of night it is.." Keiran had to agree. He preferred the open night air much more to the castle walls and corridors. And, the Forbidden Forest was much more interesting than the perfectly trimmed grass of the grounds. He often found himself going into the Forest at different times of night. Most of the time when an experiment was not going his way, he would come out here, look at the stars, wonder about what was after an afterlife. It would calm him down for the most part, but at times, if he thought too much about it, he would get sad about the past and he would have to work to get enthused about his project again.
Keiran chuckled quietly when she mentioned that he was still apart of the staff, therefore had the right of being called a proffesor. It was true, in that sense, but he saw it as, if you weren't teaching kids, you weren't a proffesor. With that same thought, Keiran didn't consider the Greybacks teachers either. In fact, it made him sick to even just think about them as teachers. Even worse was thinking about them alone, especially Demetri, with a class full of students... He returned himself to the present and answered her question, "Actually, I do prefer Keiran," he said with with a smile. Especially if this woman was a professor herself, because she looked young, but not young to be a student, she definitely did not need to be calling him professor.

"Well then... Keiran it is." she smiled. "And you may call my Victoria, or Vic even. My name is so old." she laughed lightly. Wow it felt good to be talking to someone other than a students about papers and why they failed their last potion. She sighed lightly, happy to be with someone older than seventeen and tried to figure out where the smell of blood was coming from, and she really wanted to ask, but if she did, she would surly give away just what she was. But of course... there were always those professors that knew what she was all ready... one more couldn't hurt right?
She looked around over her shoulder as she heard a snap of a small twig. "Perhaps.... we could talk somewhere else?" she whispered to him. "There seems to be someone listening... someone with four legs." she hinted at a Centaur. She hoped he would know what she meant and she started to walk towards the edge of the forest with him, keeping a hand on her bag that was slung over her shoulder. "I am sorry that I disturbed you this evening... you looked a little upset, however kind you were." she gave him a light smile as they reached the forest's edge. She stopped and turned to look at him and then saw where he had come from: a small house on the corner of the forest.

Keiran laughed at her words. He defintiely did prefer Keiran over being called proffesor. Even to students he rathered they call him Keiran than Proffesor Hayes. But if he were a real teacher, he would require to be called Proffesor. Even then, it wouldn't be to other teachers, only to his students. Keiran smiled at her. "Oh, I don't think so. Actually, I think Victoria is a very nice name. Old-fashioned, yes, but it has a certain quality about it." He chuckled quietly in the darkness. As he looked at her face, he thought he saw a question in her eyes, but thought it rude to ask what it was, so he didn't.
Keiran heard the snap of the twig the same time Victoria did, his ears very attuned to those sorts of sound. He was listening for them all the time. A person had to around here. So when she suggested that they take their conversation to a less open venue, he was quick to agree and followed her out of the woods. When she said, "I am sorry that I disturbed you this evening... you looked a little upset, however kind you were," he couldn't help the laugh that erupted. "No, no. I was just working on an experiment of mine, and whenever I'm interrupted, I'm always a little preturbed at first." Truthfully, he hadn't meant to seem upset, and had tried to supress it. But apparantely she noticed anyway.

Victoria smiled as he told her that there was a certain quality to her name and she admired that. He as very polite and very opinionated, and she found that she liked that about him. Maybe they could be friends... she liked the sound of that all the more. She was glad he followed her and then they stood outside the forest when he said that he did not mean to seem disturbed, he was just working on an experiment of his. She raised a brow to this.
"An experiment? Of what sorts, Keiran?" she asked him quietly. She eyed his house wondering if that's where the blood was being store. Part of her hoped so, but the other part told her not to give away what she was. She made sure that none of the vials had cracked by running a hand down the side of it, as if she were straitening it out. She looked back at him and awaited an answer.

Keiran enjoyed talking to Victoria. She was interesting, and very polite. There were certainly some proffesor's at Hogwarts that are the farthest thing from polite. Especially those bloody Greybacks. Oh, how he loathed them. Well, mostly just Demetri. He'd heard the stories about him and students. It made him sick to his stomach and, truthfully, give a nice shiner on his eye. But of course he would never admit that. Sure, he expresses his unliking for him, but he doesn't blatantly say that he would like to punch him in the face. Not really a good first impression...
Keiran saw Victoria eyeing his house as she asked her question. He chuckled quietly. Well, I love science. When I saw you enter the forest, I was in the middle of extracting DNA from a wolf, he said with a smile. I'm always conducting little experiments. Embarrassing I know. He looked around at the quiet night. Would you like to go inside? I mean, unless you would like to stay out here. I could put on some tea if you like, he asked kindly. He didn't mind if she wanted to stay out here. Afterall, she was the one that said she liked the outside, so if she wanted stay out here that was fine with him.

Victoria was ultimately surprised that he was into science. She didn't run into many of those kinds of people anymore and it was intriguing to say the least. She was very curious about what was going on with the extraction of Deoxyribonucleic acid in werewolf blood. Interesting. But he invited her in. She raised a brow, but she knew for sure that there would only be fire light in there and fluorescents wouldn't be a problem since electricity did not work at the school. She nodded. "We can go in. I am very intrigued by the idea of extracting Deoxyribonucleic acid from a wolf. What are you testing for?" She asked as she began to walk towards his house.
"If you need anything, in the name of science, I'm sure you can use my laboratory and my supplies if you feel you need too. My door is always open to a fellow science... what's the word? Nerd?" she smiled at him lightly and stood at the base of the stairs to the door. She wanted him to go in first, it was only polite in case there was something he did not want her to see.
