Alec walked from the giant, ornate doors of Hogwarts and out onto the vast land that surrounded it. Instinctively, he started walking down toward the lake, shutting his mind off from anyone that might be there, not wanting their thoughts to interrupt his. He always went down to the lake. It was one place that was calm enough to calm him. The gently waving black water stretching out farther than he could see with creatures in it's depth that couldn't be seen. Some were incredibly dangerous, others had the viciousness of a slug, but that didn't matter. It was a place of reflection for Alec, so he could see what was going on in his own life. But one place he never reflected on was his past. It was taboo for him. It had hurt him when he brought back those memories to prove a point to Kaelyn. He was still angry with himself for doing something so stupid. The least he hoped was that she realized it wasn't her fault. It's not like it was something she could control.
Before Alec got too close to the lake, he saw another person already sitting there. A girl by the looks of it. He opened his mind again to see who it was. A smile played on the edges of his lips as he realized who it was. He walked closer to her, but suddenly stopped. Why does he want to talk her? Wasn't he just thinking that it was stupid what he had done? It was probably a bad idea to hang out with her again. So why did he still have the urge to go over there and talk to her? It was stupid, he granted that, but still. His over-confident self wasn't going to give up on a challenge. So he walked closer and sat down beside her. "Well hello. Fancy meeting you here," he said, smirking. He knew his prescence would probably annoy her, which was what made this all the more fun.

Meditation. A holistic discipline through which a person attempts to delve into a deeper state of relaxation or awareness. The goal being to achieve a higher state of consciousness or enlightenment, receive spiritual or inspirational guidance, achieve greater focus, self-awareness or creativity, and a peaceful state of mind. Basically, for inner peace and spiritual calm and through meditation one can learn control of inner chaos. It was something Kaelyn learned to do at a young age, and was helpful for learning to control her "skills" as an empath and mindreader. Today, she was sitting at the old willow - her old willow - by the lake. Her legs were crossed - "criss-cross applesauce", as her little sister would say, - her hands resting on her knees, palms up. She sat straight with her back just barely resting on the trunk of the tree. Eyes closed, deep breath in through the nose, slow breath out through the mouth. Repeat. To anyone who saw her, they might have thought she was asleep in a rather odd and possibly uncomfortable position. But she really, really wasn't. rather, she was more alert than ever, in tune with herself, her body, and her surroundings. So it was, of course, not a surprise to her when Alec strode up and sat beside her that she was not startled. Through meditation Kaelyn was able to block out the thoughts and feelings (both belonging to herself and others). She could feel exactly who and where people were around her, but without hearing their thoughts. "Well hello. Fancy meeting you here," she heard him say, but she showed no visible response or reaction. Instead she took another deep breath in, slow breath out. For first time meditators this could give a lightheaded sensation and, if not careful, could result in blacking out. But Kaelyn, however, was no first timer. Breathing in again, her mind voice was calm and soft, sharing no specific emotion. Alec. She acknowledged him, let the breath out slowly. Another deep breath in and, If you're going to join me here, shut out your thoughts and be quiet. You may join me in meditation, or wait until I am done. Another slow breath out, and repeat, waiting to see what he would do.

Alec knew Kaelyn wasn't sleeping. First of all, the position was much too uncomfortable for any kind of sleeping to occur. Second, he knew that Kaelyn couldn't sleep in her bed because of her nightmares, so she sure as hell wasn't going to be able to just pass out against a tree. So he looked at her and waited for her stop her little meditation thingy and recognize that he was there. He figured she was in tune with her surroundings, so he knew it couldn't be a surprise when he spoke to her. She proved this conjecture when she repsonded to him without moving a muscle, or evening opening her eyes. In fact, she didn't even talk to him out loud. Her reply came in his head. Playing along he answered back in his head, "Hello Little Ravenclaw. Meditating again?" He asked quietly, his words taking a teasing edge to them. Though not planning to go along with what she said, leans back against the tree anyway, rubbing his temples."So I was thinking. Since neither of us seem to be able to get a wink of sleep, how about we ask the nurse for a sleeping potions? Or something to numb dreams? Because, I don't about you, but I'm sick of this," says in his mind.

Kaelyn smiled inwardly as Alec commented about her meditating again. It seemed that whenever they ran into each other, she was either sketching, tripping, or meditating; the first two generally in correspondence. Although she found him utterly annoying, Kae found herself oddly happy or content, even so far as peaceful, when she was around him. She barely let the smile show on her face as she thought to him, Yes, Alec, meditating again. You might not want to control your "gift" but I do. Besides, I have to deal with it twiceover. She stopped her thoughts there and took another deep breath in, slow breath out. She listened to Alec's suggestion of a possible solution to the sleeping and nightmare issue. The suggestion brought up a flash of memory of the nightmare she'd had the previous night after once again attempting to sleep. But she quickly quashed the memory and her eyes flew open. With a slightly irritated sigh, she stretched her arms and legs out in front of her, flinching as the blood rushed back and she realized her foot had fallen asleep. Rubbing her numb foot to try to hasten the blood flow and reduce the tingling feeling, Kaelyn looked at Alec and started giggling, "Alec, you look silly!" She let her giggles subside as she thought about his temporary solution. With a frown, she said, "I don't know, Alec. I've tried something like that before, but it didn't help. I suppose it's worth a second try though..." She bit her lip, glancing at him out of the corner of her eyes and whispered, "I don't think it will stop him." A hint of fear entered her tone, as her voice strained at barely a whisper, "I can feel him looking for me. I can feel his anger...his...desire to...to...hurt me. Kill me. Anything. He's not going to stop. Not ever. Alec, he's coming for me. It's just a matter of time." Kae closed her eyes and placed her fists on the ground in between her legs, her body trembling, "Sleeping potions can't help that...can't stop that. He's coming."
