Jake walked out of the castle. He was very happy. His smile was big, even his eyes were smiling. He made a pirouette on one foot. He laughed to himself for being childish and shook his head. Going his way to the black lake he was singing quietly a new song he wrote yeasterday's evening in his dorm. Something has changed in his life. He was so cheerful because of it that snow and cold didn't bother him. So Jake sat down leaning on a tree. He looked at the lake feeling really good.

New flings and relationships were like the spring for him. And despite it was winter Jake felt the warmth thinking about it. Even an alternative of being kicked in the ass by Carina's brother, Blaze couldn't dampen his sunny day.

Joanna skipped out of the castle. She love the snow and playing in it. It was always fun to build snowmen and a have snowball fight with people you loved. She started to sing a song that she had heard from some muggle band call "You belong to me". She loved singing and she was pretty good voice too.

She stop for a minute and started to build a snowman and after she was done she continue walking toward the Black Lake. She wanted to see if the lake was frozen enough to ice skate on. She hasn’t been ice skating since last year and since it was almost New Years she decided it was time that she ice skated.

She got near the Black Lake and saw a figure leaning against a tree. She couldn’t tell who it was but as she got near she could tell it was Jake. She put down her ice skates gentle on the snow and put an invisibility spell on her. She walk toward Jake with a snowball in her hand and threw it at him.

It is unbelievable how friendship can turn into affection. Jake remembered the time he was with Lisa. She was his friend and then they ended up in a bed together. They weren't a couple for long, though. They both were too unfaithful to stick with each other. So they became friends with benefits but Lisa had a boyfriend now and it seemed to be something serious. And now it was Carina who became someone more for him than just a good friend. Young Blackwell remembered the very first time he had met Carina. It was on the Hogwarts Express during his first trip to school. He's been sitting in one of compartments with other first years he met on the platform in London. Funny story actually because they all had been sorted to Slytherin later that day. But why did he leave that compartment? It's simple. He made a rude comment about Lisa's fairy red or maybe pink hair and she turned him out of there. He didn't know she had them from birth. He didn't know yet that her father was a metamorphmagus and that she inherited just an odd looking hair color. Being turned out of the compartment Jake had to look for a free seat and he found an empty compartment. Well, not really empty because there was one little girl sitting alone. Of course it was Carina Dolohov herself. He asked her to sit, she didn't mind so he did and it was how they met.

Of course Jake's mind should have been focused only on Carina right now. But he it slightly went to one of his sisters. Yes, he loved his sisters but sometimes he was very annoyed with the little one. Every time he had a girlfriend, little Ms. Blackwell tried to ruin his relationship. Jo just thought that girls he dated weren't worth him, yes. But he couldn't understand why she liked so much messing up with them. Those girls always felt very uncomfortable as they met her. It was really funny for Jo when she called them by his exes' names and then explaining to them she couldn't remember all their names because he had so many. Jake found out about it and got angry. Jo had to come to Therese, his other sister for safety. And that in order was funny for Thess. Oh how much they liked teasing with him. Why did his damn father have to make child with other women?! Stupid affair! Now he had to deal with two young women in his life. Well, he already was alright with it but it was very hard for him to accept it when he was 11. Because of appearance of his half-sister he didn't want to go to Hogwarts with her, so he went a year later. He didn't want anyone to think they were twins or something while she was just a result of an affair. He didn't like Thess at first but now it was different. He accepted her into the family and loved her as if she was there from a beginning.

Jake was so lost in his own thought that he didn’t hear anyone coming close nor pulling the wand out and putting a spell on themselves. A snowball hit him on the face and he immediately reached his cheek as he came back to reality. He looked around but saw no one. He sighed knowing exactly what it meant. "I thought you're better than that, Jo-Jo." Jake said out loud.

"I am but i wanted to be caught." Jo removed her spell from her and stick her tongue at Jake. "So what are you doing outside?" She ask. It wasn't normal for her to bump into her brother randomly. She usually had to go found him in order to talk to him same with her sister. She got along with Thess every since she first met her. She didn't quite understand about the affair since she had always been the sheltered one but she always wanted a sister. So she let Thess into the family with open arms. Jake on the other hand didn't and she didn't understand why though she knew why now.

“Are you okay?” She asked since he did seem in deep thought before she brought him back to reality. She never knew what was going through his head and at the same time she didn’t. She didn’t want to know who he like or had flings with. She didn’t want to feel replace by girls that she didn’t even knew or like. She already felt replace by Jake new girlfriend but she was being selfish after all she like someone from her house. She just had always thought that they would always be close.

“Mom sent me new ice skate and I think she sent you one too.” She said picking up her ice skates and went by the lake. It looks frozen but she need to make sure. She took a step into the frozen lake and put all her body weight on it. “Do you think it’s frozen enough?” She ask.

Jake wasn't annoyed with Joanna's provocations. Maybe a little bit irritated but he kind of like them. Without them he would not know he has a little sister. Yes, he was protective over her, cared for her but the older he was the less time he had for her. And he understood why she tried so hard to get his attention even if it meant ruining his relationship, plan, making him angry or hurting him in some way. These things just made them closer to each other and he thought that Jo will be always his little sister and never be replaced by anyone. Yes, Jake was about to have a serious relationship with a girl but it didn't mean he was about to forget about that little brat he loved so much.

A boy raised an eyebrow at his younger sister. She wanted to be caught. Jake didn't understand what fun was with being caught so easy and so fast. Jo really had to think of a new method to sneak behind him, scare him or annoy him. These ones she had were rather outdated and he was used to them. "Thinking." he answered her question simply. Outside he could get some fresh air and think better out of the noise inside the castle. He then shrugged hearing her other question. "It would be better if I didn't get hit with a snowball, sis." he winked at her playfully not wanting to worry her with his thoughts.

Jake wrinkled his nose hearing about ice skates. Knowing their mother she sent him sort of girly ones. "Good to know. I will have a time to hide them." he chuckled. He saw his sister going by the lake so he moved from the tree he was leaning on in case she wanted to do something stupid or careless. Before he could say 'don't' Jo stepped into the lake. "I don't know. Get out before it cracks. There are better ways to find out." Jake held his hand out to help her.

“You can think?” She ask with amazement. “I didn’t know you could do that? Who taught you the new trick?” She teased. “Oh come on..there not bad and anyway mom will know that you never used them.” She told him.

Since the ice didn’t break when she put on all her body weight on it she put the other foot on it. “Jake, its fine see…” She skated a few feet out and nothing happen.” She was loved ice skating and it was one of the things that her parents made her go to classes for. She could have been a figure skater but she wanted to focus all her time on her violin but she did know however some twirls and spins. She step out some more ignoring her brother.

She always was a risk taker though sometimes it led to her getting hurt. She wanted to live laugh to her fullest though her mother told her she will die young. She wanted to be a dragon trainer and be around dragons. Her parents didn’t like the idea but of course she was to stubborn to change her mind.

She got on the center of the lake and just stood there. “See not happen. Its frozen good enough.” She said with a smile. She started to skate but she heard a crack. She look down and there was a crack in the ice and she stop. “well that’s not good.” She said to herself. “Hmmm Jakey…the ice crack.” She wasn’t freaking out yet since she had been in worse situations before. Though her brother would make the situations seem worse then what it really was after he saved her or she saved herself.

Jake had to hold himself because Jo kept teasing him. Why did she have to be such a brat in a serious situation? He shook his head because she was his little sister, it was natural behavior. But he thought he was in love and his sister doubted that he could think. It was not very nice of her. But she was right about ice-skates and their mom knowing he never used them. She always knew when he did not like presents she gave him. What a shame she did not know about it before buying them.

Jake was watching Joanna moving forward further on the ice with worried face. He did not want anything bad to happen to her. Even though he was annoying little brat he loved her more than anyone else. She meant the world for him. He did not know what he would do if he lost her, if she got hurt. "Jo! Come back! NOW!" he shouted but she seemed to ignore him. He rubbed his temples closing his eyes to think better.

He looked back at Jo just in time to see the ice cracking and hear his sister's words. "Don't worry. Don't move!" he said loudly. He could not believe it was happening now, after he told her so. He pulled his wand out and aimed it on a crack. With a flick of his wand and incantation of a freezing spell spoken the crack froze once again. But they did not have much time before it could crack again. "Locomotor Joanna!" he flicked his wand once again to rise his sister in the air and move from the center of the lake to him. Fortunately it worked and Jo flew into his arms. He caught her immediately. "You stupid kid. You could drown, freeze to death." he said angrily but hugged her tight.

Why did he have to ruin her fun? If only she brought her wand with her today then she would have saved herself but NO. She had to forget it. She just stand they quietly as he hugged her. She could have die yes but she love the feeling of being in danger. She wasn’t like any of her siblings. She loved putting herself in danger and taking risk. Thess was lazy and easy going and Jake was well he was strange to her. Though she loved her brother very much and he’s the closest things she had to a best friend. She was actually the abnormal of the family. She had always been the one to take risk and she didn’t mind. Her family needs someone like her or else they lives will be to normal and predictable. She wasn’t predictable and she loved the element of surprise.

“I’m fine now.” She said pulling away from his tight hug. though I want to be out on the lake skating.” she thought grimly to herself. “See no cuts or broken bones.” She said laughing. She looked back at the frozen lake. She bended down and poke at the ice with a stick she found. I want to ice skate.she started to draw circles with her stick on the snow. “What’s the point of living if you don’t take any chances? I don’t want to live a boring life and play it safe all the time.” She look at her brother for a second and look back at the lake. “What’s the fun in that?” She ask her brother.

She loved the adventure of life. She wanted to experience everything; love, joy, excitement, and even the bad parts of life. Every experience she went through she believe will make her a stronger person. She wanted to be a person who saw the world full of color. She wanted to see the colors that people didn’t want to see.

“If I wanted a safe life I would have lived my life as a muggle.” She stood up and moved some of her hair that fell in front of her face. She didn’t know when she was going to die but all she knew is that she didn’t want to die with regrets.

Normally he didn't care. Normally he wasn't even around. But seeing his sister in danger he couldn't help but felt an urge to save her. Besides their mom would make his life hell if something bad happened to Joanna on his eyes. He let out a breath in relief and shook his head. He didn't really understand why Jo was like that. She needed an adrenaline, yes and he could understand that but she always seemed to ask for help in the last moment. He let her go and thought that sometimes he was overprotective and maybe a little pathetic. "For you fun is when mom makes my life hell. And you exactly know she would do this if you ended in the hospital wing with hypothermia." Jake surprised himself that he knew that word but maybe he became smarter lately? Maybe he wanted to be better just because of Carina. He didn't know what the reason was but it did not bother him.

"You know, I heard muggles have sports called extreme. You would still have a chance to live your life fully." but Jake was sure she was too much into magic and she couldn't live without it.

“maybe.” She said lightly. “I end up in the hospital wing with a broken arm before and not to mention mom gave up in trying to control me.” She said drawing another circle. “She said i’m too free spirited though I don’t know what she’s means by that.” She said throwing the stick.

“those sports aren’t extreme. I look at them and half of them I’ve done and there not as fun as there look.” She said annoyed. She really want to go back on the ice and maybe she was acting spoil but at the moment she wanted to skate. “why can’t I go out there and skate. I mean it’s not like its going to matter. You have girlfriend why don’t you spend time with her and bother her?” She ask. She didn’t mean to be rude but she couldn’t help it. He spent most his time with her and barely any with her. The only time she existed in his world. The only time he actually aware of her being his sister is when she bothering him. She just a hufflepuff and slytherin don’t talk to them.

Jake rolled his eyes a bit irritated. She would never change, he knew that. "Yeah, she tells you she gives up and then I become your guardian. Next time tell our mom that I don't want to watch out for you all the time only because she 'gives up' on controlling you." he said with a bit harsh tone. He knew their mother would never give up in that case. She would rather hand that job to someone else and someone else meant him. But he didn’t want all that responsibility. He had other things to be worry about.

Jake shook his head as he listened to Joanna's words. She had some right but he didn't come here to take care of his little sister but to get some fresh air and rethink some things. "I have a girlfriend? I have bunches of them." he laughed inside knowing it was a half-truth. Currently he had one, Carina Dolohov but all those exes… well he kept in touch with them and 'touch' is a keyword. "I can go if you want so you could do whatever you want. But don't come to me crying your eyes when…" he did not end his thought because he did not want to think about what might happen. Jake turned on his foot ready to go. He didn't think that coming out of the castle when the day was so beautiful will bring an argument with his sister.

That didn’t happen. You are too stuck up in your own little world and sleeping with girls that I don’t enter you mind.” She was hurt and annoyed with the whole thing. “The only time I’m even your sister is when you see me in the hallway. I’m even lucky if you say hi to me in the hallways.”

“Are you even aware that I existed at school?” She asked him “and you leaving isn’t going to be any differences.” She said harshly. “the last time I cried I didn’t run to you. So it’s your lucky break big brother. You don’t have to take care of me anymore. Finally you don’t have to watch over me and now you can pretend that you don’t even know me.” She said sitting down and taking off her skates. She didn’t feel like skating anymore. She just wanted to go somewhere else.

She wasn’t always emotionally but she was always alone. She was really different from her family. She had no friends and she was too weird that her classmates never talk to her. She hears the whisper in the hallway about her. She didn’t always wanted to be known as Jake and Thess weird little sister. She had a name but of course since she was the youngest, so she got stuck in the shadows.
