Clarice Belby tapped her pink painted nails delicately on the table top, as she sat a bit slumped in the chair in the Hogwarts library. Why Clarice had chosen such an open and public place was beyond her. She wasn't ashamed of being tutored in muggle studdies. She was a Slytherin after all, and muggle studdies was the last thing on her mind when it came to her daily activities. In fact, Claire saw the subject as pointless. She already knew how to blend in with those mudbloods, why in the word would she want to learn about them? She didn't care what they used to cook their food or the jobs they had. She was a witch and a mighty proud one at that. Sure in the back of her mind she was thankful for the tutor to come and help her raise her grade, thought Claire would never say such a nice statement out loud to a perfect stranger. Which was why she didn't want to be in a public place. She didn't want people to see that she didn't know something, and besides, in such a public place it was easy for Clarice to become ten times more distracted.
Claire had quite a short attention span when other people were around. If she was having a conversation with a single person it was easy for her to focus but if you threw in a whole bunch of people walking around, reading in corners, talking, and giggling, Claire was sure to let her eyes wander off with her attention span. Bless the poor Ava girl who had to put up with her. Claire was not the easy going student, and while she could have asked for help from her sister, Claire would never do something that would allow her family to know. She liked to keep her business just that. When it came to sharing with her family, she was very closed up. But Claire would have to talk to Jane sooner or later, about the family she didn't even know she had. The thoughts of her encounter with Helena Greyback seemed to stand out from this month's most dramatic events. It was something that Claire tried to shove in the the back of her mind, but in the quietest moments it had its way of sneaking back in. So when her mind wandered to places Clarice didn't want it to, she gave herself a new distraction.
Biting her lip softly, Clarice flipped open to the page she was currently working on- history in muggle life? When was she ever going to need to know who the first president was, or how people gained their freedoms? The correct answer was never. She twirled a stand of loose dirty blond hair in her finger as she looked at the problems in the textbook. The world was going to end- Clarice just knew it. When was this Ava girl going to show up? Clarice had asked around and the one thing she learned was that the girl was bright and punctual. She had to be bright, she was a Ravenclaw after all. Her eyes bolted to the door, she would give the girl five minutes and then she would leave, (not that the girl was actually late, Clarice just had a way of throwing everything way out of proportion when she didn't want to do something).
