Mandy Odette LeBlanc’s life was progressively speeding down hill and it was all happening in a matter of days. Was it possible to sink so low, so quickly? She had always believed that you reached the top just to fall again, and as she was beginning to believe that she was getting her life back on track, she went tumbling straight back down the hill, one that she had been climbing for the last thirty-six years. Reality had only just hit home, and it had came so unexpectedly, knocking Mandy off her feet, making her feel so small, so weak and complete and utter shit. What the hell had happened to her life?
Now she was a mother of a daughter who was a teenage wife, a rape victim, an alcoholic and a horcrux. She was the mother of a son, who was a vampire, engaged and a soon-to-be father. And for another short period of time, she would be the wife of the cheating, alcoholic headmaster of Hogwarts. Who would have known? Coming to think of it, she’d soon be classified as a thirty-six year old, single mother and newly divorcee. Oh hell no! That wasn’t apart of the plan! None of it was! She had been working on the plan for twenty three years, she had planned to travel the world, get a job in designing, to marry a great guy and at the time, she believed Robert was perfect, that was before he decided to cheat on her with some skank! And then she had a plan to have one child, a son, instead she gave birth to three children, and that wasn’t something she was cut out to do. The plan had been fired out the window after she realized she was no longer capable of doing those things.
Thoughts raced through her mind, memories flashed, and previous conversations repeated themselves. Maybe she was just going insane, she was definitely losing it. That was what she told herself as she cleaned herself off after using the floo system to arrive at the Ministry? What the hell was she doing at the ministry? While her husband had made the decision to chase after a much younger woman, Mandy had decided to catch a more mature, experienced man she had known for years. Brett Lott. “Hello Madeline, Is Brett in his office or is he at a trail?” The woman asked the secretary she had conversed with many times since her frequent visits to Brett’s office. “Hello Mandy, no it would seem Mr. Lott is currently out of trail and free.” With those words, Mandy smiled and made her way towards Brett’s office.
As she walked with confidence down the corridor, she removed her sunglasses and tangled her fingers through her curly locks. Mandy always made herself look presentable, no matter where she was going, even more so when she was visiting Brett. She wore a black pencil skirt, a winter white blouse and a pair of her best heels, she was looking incredibly smart this afternoon. Opening his office door, not bothering to knock, Mandy slipped inside. Without looking at him, she locked the door and then turned to get a full view of her best friend. No words escaped her pale pink lips, she simply approached him and as he sat comfortably in his chair, she climbed upon him, straddling him. “I’m getting divorced…” Mandy whispered softly to him, bringing her fingers to his cheek and gently caressing it, “I think I’m living in hell.” She told him in a low, saddened tone.

What was a safe word to describe the life of the aging Brett Mckade Lott at this point in time. Hell, horrible, devastating? All words that would most defiantly fit, but did they actually grasp the full concept of what was going on. No, they didn't, not the least bit. Hell was appropriate, but at this moment in time Brett would change how his life was going to rather be in hell, yes it was that bad. It might seem that he is just being dramatic, but that was not the case. Brett Lott was never the one to actually be sarcastic about his own life, the lives of others yes, his no.
See, what many people did' tknow about Brett was his life at home was going down hill, and quick. He just lived behind that mask he put upon his rugged face when he stepped into the real world. He shielded the public eyes from what was really going on, how it was really affecting him, because lord knows what would happen if tough, 'cold hearted' Brett Lott was seen with a frown, or saddened expression on his face, that.. That m'dear would truly make his life hell.
But the things going on at home, weren't much better. His eldest son had went behind his every wish, marrying a muggle born, leaving her only to take her and their tainted blood son back. Only bringing a disgrace to the Lott name, but he wasn't the only one. Harmony was right behind Trent in her attempt to ruin the Lott name. At the tender age of 16 she had managed to get knocked up, and have the audacity to tell her parents that a damned box had knocked her up! A box, what kind of shit is that! Brett didn' t know, and he didn't the first time believe her. But you know, just to make things worse, his other two elder kids weren't being much better. Alec, the son who Brett adored so much, was having his own battles at home. Nearly facing divorce because of a mistake Brett made, a mistake that might actually break up the one marriage that Brett and Violet approved of, he just prayed to God that, that didn't happen. But wait, we can't forget Juliette. Oh dear Juliette, what was she doing now a days. getting drunk, doing drugs, we can just say her and Harmony have been disowned... The lovely hell that Brett Lott called home
With a frown on his face Brett found himself looking down at the picture frame on his desk, the picture of him and Violet. Oh violet, how he did seem to love her so, but lately all she has been able to do is lie in bed from a illness that has been bestowed upon her from birth. And lately Brett had been blaming himself for making her so bad off. By not being home, for spending nights drinking, it was all his fault, or was it? She was suppose to be there to help him threw the problems that he faced with his family. But was she, lately no. It was horrible! His whole life was horrible, and the only one good thing that seemed to be around lately was Mandy.
Mandy Leblanc, a married woman, who was younger than him, but one of his best friends. The one person who still seemed to listen to him lately when he needed to talk, or the one person who would show up when he said he needed someone to have a drink with, or if he just needed a little stress relief. To tell you the truth she was probably a blessing in disguise, but little did Brett know she was having her own problems at home. Little did he know he was about to find out all about these problems
With his hands behind his head he had his feet propped up on his oak desk when he saw the door fly open, and her small framed body step inside, turning around shutting and locking the door. A small smile spread to his face, his feet going to the ground, and his body straighting up. "Mandy." He said simply with a smile, but then he saw her face, and his smile faded and he just waited for her to come over, once she did climb up in his lap he put one of his arms around her hip puling her closer to him, his other hand grabbing his wand and sound proofing the room where their little conversation wouldn't be heard by all.
His green eyes went straight up to hers when he heard her talk. She was getting a divorce? What, that couldn't be right. His eyes automatically changed to a concerned gaze. "I'm so sorry love." He said his strong Irish accent breaking threw his words. "When did this happen? And love" he started moving his other hand up grabbing hers bringing it down off his face and lacing their fingers together. "I wouldn't allow you to live in hell, never. So that isn't an option, a bump in the road you call life maybe, but darlin, I assure you it isn' t hell, even if it was I would come and save you from it." He said with a wink keeping he small body pressed to his not being able to help his words rolling off his tongue.

Mandy found she wasn’t strong enough to adjust to the idea of Robert being with someone else, loving someone else. The thought made her heart grow weak. It was a sore thought, one she didn’t want to think about. She was falling and she so dearly wanted him to catch her but, she feared he was no longer that person. It was a sad story, one that she wanted to be rid of, one she was sick of reading. Was it really that long ago when they used to be happy, completely content just being each other, they didn’t need no one else, just each other. It was hard to think that was the last time she was truly happy with any man, with herself. She had to come to terms with the fact that she lost Robert LeBlanc and the chance of him coming back was faint, very faint. Things just became a lot harder when days, weeks, even months passed. Where would they be in a years time? Would they still be in each other’s life or will the young woman do as she said and block him out? No, she couldn’t. Robert wasn’t just an ex-husband and the father of her children, but he was there for her when she needed him, she just hated to know that she wasn’t there when he needed her.
The sharp knife stabbed her multiple times in the heart, the young woman only blamed herself for twisting the knife further. Why was this pain inflicted upon her? What had she done to deserve this? Was her karma really that bad? The pain was unbearable. She couldn’t live with herself, knowing that a man she found herself hopelessly devoted to, was devoted to another. Couldn’t he see she was suffering? Wasn’t it obvious? When Mandy had discovered Robert‘s infidelity, it truly killed her, her heart had somehow stopped beating, and she could feel her knees buckle beneath her, the only thing that stopped her from falling was…Robert. It was always Robert, he was her safeguard, the only person that stopped her from falling. The only time he didn’t catch her was when she fell head over heels in love with him, it was the bittersweet truth.
Was it not only yesterday when he had propped himself on one knee and proposed to her, promising her a life full of happiness? Was it not yesterday she had walked down the aisle, and she had promised to devote her life to him? Was it not yesterday when she found herself in love with him?…No that was today. Lately, she felt her heart being stamped on, poked and prodded, pulled and stretched in all different directions but another thing she knew was that none of it was intentional. She knew that from the very beginning. Funny thing is, people told her to be careful, not to let him in and she was foolish enough to ignore those wise people who spoke nothing but wisdom and give her heart to Robert. Despite that he never gave her heart back, he had kept it all along and she would never dare as for it back, Mandy never regretted letting Robert in, never.
Since the fatal night when she had placed her wedding band on the counter top, Mandy had turned to Brett for the comfort he was willing to give her, to listen to her problems and give her a shoulder to cry on. Not only that but he had given her much more, she had seen something in him, and it gave her a glimmer of hope, that maybe things would be ok in the end. Maybe she didn’t need to be in a secure relationship to be happy, maybe this affair they found themselves in was enough to get her bleeding heart to mend. That was what she hoped for.
Mandy smiled softly as he pulled her closer to him, her body against his. It felt good to be in his arms, to be able to talk to someone who she could trust to listen, it just felt good to be cared about. And that Irish accent of his could practically kill her, it sent her stomach soaring and her heart rocketed up into her throat. The man did wonders to her, she felt as if she was a school girl again. Perhaps that was what she needed, the thrill, the excitement that every relationship craved for, maybe that was the reason why she sat in her best friend’s arms, he gave her that thrill, the one every woman desired.
Her hazel’s eyes burned into his as he looked up at her, almost surprised by the news, she was sure everyone would be, “He just isn’t happy anymore…” Mandy sighed, and looked down as their fingers laced together. Oh of course he could make her smile, even on the rainiest days, “You don’t know how good it is to hear someone say that.” She admitted. Brett was the only lifeline she had left, the only thing she could depend on, the only man she could trust, as of now, he was special. Moving closer, she looked at him and then smiled before placing her lips against his, causing that amazing burning sensation that she always received when kissing him, it was so different to her usual kisses.

Brett truthfully didn't know what he was doing anymore. He had a wife at home laying in bed whom he loved dearly. A wife who has held his heart for the past twenty five years, seeing that the first five years was filled with affairs on both of their parts, but now, he couldn't ask for more. But even saying that he found himself sitting here now holding Mandy close to him, intertwining their fingers as if nothing else mattered at this moment in time. Did he know why? Truthfully know, all he knew was he was going through hell lately and Mandy understood that. Many understood him, just as she had for the countless years in the past that held their friendship.
He knew he would go home tonight just as he did every night. Sit down with his wife, have dinner, sit around the fire before going to bed laying next to her just as he had the past two decades. He would think of what he did threw outt the day, but he wouldn't allow it to escapee his lips to Violet, he wouldn't dare let her know. Was that a bad thing for a husband to do, most likely, wasn't it the reason Vi left him before in the past. Isn't it what led her to take Trent and move away not even attempting to keep contact with him, yes it was. But this time, it wasn't the same. Or was it? Cheating was cheating no matter which way you looked at it, but the thing is. If Vi found out, if she wanted to leave him for the just a couple of times he has slipped up and became unfaithful, he would die. He just knew it would be the end of him, if there was any of him left from all this mess his family was bestowing upon him.
Even with all of that in mind, it didn't stop him today. It didn't stop him from pulling his small framed friend closer to him, letting his hand keep her securelyy up against his firm chest, and his large warm hand intertwined with hers. It didn't matter right now. Non of it did. Many was his friend, and years back he had made a promise to never leave her alone when she needed him, and he had found out threw even more experiencee that sometimes people needed you in different ways than others, and truth be told, he needed Mandy too. He needed that thrill and rush of adrenaline he got just from sneaking around to have these little rendezvous, it was probably exactly what he needed to get over this little mid life crisis he was starting to hit, but in his opinion it wass hitting him a little late in life.
Just shaking the thoughts out of his head he kept his green eyes locked on her hazel ones, he kept his arm firmly around hers, and his hand in hers bringing it up to his lips placing a soft kiss on the smooth skin that made up the top of her hand as she began to talk. But he couldn't help but shake his heads slightly at her words. "Darlin I can not see how Robert became unhappy with you. Maybe he is blind, or loosing his mind?" He said with a soft smile as he felt her lips press down to his. Instantly he moved his hand out of hers and to the middle of her back as he just let their lips move together causing that burning sensation to run threw his veins as it always did when they kissed. It was so different than the sweet loving kisses he shared so often with his wife. Itwas...exciting.
Just keeping a smile on his face be brought his lips off of hers for a moment resting his forehead on hers, not daring move a apart from the woman as he locked his eyes on hers before capturing her lips in a very soft kiss. "Do you think your going to be alright dear? From all of this. I know your strong, but are you going to be OK in here." He asked taking the arm that wasn't holding her body against hers and tapping her chest very lightly before moving his hand down her arm and back to her waist, waiting for an answer as he continued to place light kisses on her pink lips.

Mandy’s family had enough drama to do them a lifetime. They all had their own individual problems, each bringing the other down. Why did it have to be her family? Why did she have to fret over their dysfunctional arguments? Why did Bellatrix choose Kelsey as horocrux? There was so many questions that needed answered and no one to answer them. It was an awful feeling to be left in the dark. To be unaware of what the hell was going on. It was how Mandy had felt when Bellatrix took Kelsey one evening, she didn’t know where they where bringing her daughter or when they where bringing her back for that matter, and Robert had earned himself a punch in the face from trying to stop her from taking their daughter back. She was returned soon after looking just as she always had, and after some questioning she had found out what had happened to her baby girl. It was a tragic story really.
Their twisted lives had somehow intertwined, brought them together through all this. Mandy was there when Brett needed someone to talk to, to his dissolve his problems, and he in return was always there for her. He was her cushion, he stopped her from falling, he was saving her and taking her away from all the troubles of her life. It was a miracle that a single person could help her, could make her think that whatever she was going through would be okay in the end, but how long was it until the end? Would there really be an end, or would more problems keep heading her way? Was her future bright or would she still continue living like this? Those questions Brett couldn’t answer, he was good at helping, but no one was that good.
Nothing mattered. Not even the fact that her marriage had crumbled in her own hands, her daughter was at the threat of dying with every second that passed, not even the fact that Anton was getting married. It didn’t matter when Brett was there. He just had that ability, to give her the reassurance that nothing was ever that bad, even when his own life was pretty much in turmoil. Wow, they where both screwed up, but so similar. Brett had a son who married a muggleborn, something he had very strong opinions on, he had another son that was the apple of his eye but was going through marriage problems due to Brett’s big mouth, a daughter who had fallen pregnant at the tender age of fifteen and was now a lesbian, and other children that would surely be trailed into the craziness sooner or later. As humorous as it may sound, it really could drive someone over the edge, someone like Mandy.
There was nothing more that Mandy wanted than to believe her husband was loosing his mind, he fairly pulled it off the majority of the time. However she couldn’t blame him, she hadn’t been the best wife, she was nothing like Violet Lott, she had issues, lots and lots of issues, not just with her family but with herself. Although there was nothing in the world that caused Mandy to believe her relationship was heading towards the ground, she was always so positive that they’d stick, just deal with whatever was in their way and continue with their lives, together. It was just Mandy’s luck that her husband had decided to stray and end up sleeping with some other woman. No one could imagine how much insecurities that had arisen since the discovery of Robert’s infidelity. Nowadays, Brett was the only person that could make her feel good about herself. And as his lips made contact with her skin, shivers crawled her spine, this feeling that he gave her was indescribable, it was all so new.
Brett asked the question that she had been asking herself and as he tapped her chest gently, she tilted her head slightly, “I don’t know Brett, my life’s just so unbearable right now…” Mandy whispered while silently getting lost in his planted kisses on her pink lips. He was her wonder wall, she had no doubt about it. “I just need to be here, with you. I’ve taken everything I’ve ever had for granted, I don’t want you to disappear next.” She said, finally admitting her fears as she placed her hand against his chest.

Brett didn't have the slightest idea how he would ever explain this to his wife if she found out about this. Hell he didn't know anything anymore, but he did know he would have to think of something in case she ever found out. In case it did come to that point, but at this point in time, he didn't care, not the least bit. He needed an escape, a escape from all of the hell he was going through at this point in time, and right now, his escapes was this affair he was taking part in. The affair that included his best friend for who knows how many years.
The one thing for sure that Brett McKade Lott knew was that his family was driving him insane. His daughters, his sons, everything it was making him loose it. It was making him loose all of his sanity, loose every last bit he had managed to save from his past, and that wasn't a good thing. With his job, and the death eaters on his ass half the time, Brett couldn't manage to go threw all of this. He couldn't manage to have all of the weight on the world on his shoulders. No, maybe in the past, but at this point in his life he wanted to be able to relax, not be under more pressure.
With a shake of his head he kept his arms around the woman in them, keeping her in the warm relaxing embrace the Irish man has been told he possessed. His green eyes locked on her hazel ones once again as her head tilted sideways and words spewed out of her mouth. Her head went from looking at him to laying on her chest. She didn't want to loose him, and Brett wasn't going to ever let her loose him, not until the day he died. Their affair might not last forever, but he knew that she would never fully loose the man.
Taking a deep breath eh moved his hand to the back of her neck pulling her down into a very powerful kiss. Putting a majority of his frustrations from the week into one simple kiss just making it almost overwhelming with passion. The one simple kiss that would let her know that he wasn't going anywhere, that he wasn't going to leave her in this world to face the problems she had been dished out on her own. But moving his hand from wrapping around her to being placed in the center of her back he moved it very slightly under the edge of her shirt moving his lips the slightest bit away from her own.
A smile was on his lips as he placed his forehead on hers keeping his eyes closed very lightly he spoke, letting that same addicting Irish accent hit all of is words. "Love, I wont disappear, ever. I promise you that." He whispered very lightly before taking her lips in another breathtaking kiss, this time stretching it out just a hair trying to get his point across to the woman. "Don't ever think I would allow myself to disappear. not from you at least. You have been my best friend for who knows how long, and dear I couldn't dream of disappearing, defiantly when you need me most." He stated with a sheepish grin on his face as he removed his forehead from hers resting it on the back of chair as his hand left the back of her neck and went down to her hip keeping her body close to his.
Brett knew for sure that Mandy was helping him in a way. A way that right now was probably the only thing keeping him sane. It was what was keeping him off of the brink of insanity. The thrill, the excitement, everything about just having this affair again made his heart race, He knew he sounded like a little kid with all of this, but it was true. He needed this, he needed Mandy at this moment in time, and he wasn't about to let this all be ruined sending him back into that manic state he was in before.

Guilt was a killer. Mandy was just as guilty as her own husband was, she had engaged into an affair without hesitation. And while he put his neck on the line, placing the blame of their failed marriage on his shoulders, here Mandy was, wrapped in the arms of her best friend, the person who was able to catch her when she needed him the most. Mandy wouldn’t know who she’d miss the most if both decided to leave her side. They stood on an equal level in her opinion. But Brett wasn’t just a friend, he was a lover, and right now it was only about him.
Mandy and Brett fell into the same situation, their lives had spiralled out of control, so out of control that they where completely powerless. If she could, Mandy would fix her broken marriage, finish the never-ending feud with her daughter and live her life contently. She was pretty sure that if Brett could, he would change a lot of things in his life, perhaps his faithfulness to his wife, his bond with his children, and that was the reason why the two had found comfort in each other’s arms, they understood each other better than anyone
No matter what the future held, no matter how worse or better their lives might get, they’d always have each other, whether as lovers, or as friends, they’d never truly part, there was no doubt about it. Brett’s reassurance was all she needed, she listened to his words and always took them into consideration, even if she thought otherwise. When people ask if you’d jump into a fire just because he did, Mandy would reply yes without hesitation. If she could, she’d follow him to hell and back again.
The kiss spoke emotions, silent words that neither could explain. Mandy returned the kiss with same about of blasting passion, wanting him, needing him. While their lips remained connected in the kiss, Mandy’s fingers found the button’s on his shirt and she slowly began to undo them. It always phased her that Brett could manage to take her away from everything, from everything outside the office doors which sworn them to secrecy. Every kiss, every touch, burned with desire, it allowed her to realize how much she truly needed Brett Lott in her life, and how she could possibly live without him was beyond her. He was defiantly not something she took for granted.
The promise meant the world to her. It was what she needed to hear. These last few days, people had been abandoning her from left and right. Robert’s promise was till death to us part, and that didn’t seem to be the case anymore. He was the one who had gotten the divorce papers with her knowing, he had secretly began to plan out what would happen with the kids and it all hurt, it made her realize that promises really where meant to be broken. But there was something about Brett’s words that brought a comfort, she just had to believe he spoke words of honesty and truth. “I do, I do need you the most. And I refuse to let you disappear, I wont let you slip away.” She whispered to him, keeping eye contact.
Brett had a talent, he had always been able to break through Mandy’s tough exterior and bring out the good in her. A lot of people couldn’t do that, but then again, Brett Lott wasn’t like other people. He was her best friend.
