Skylar smiled to herself as she sat at the edge of the lake put ice skates on her feet. After lacing them up, she slowly stood up and tried to keep her balance. It had been years since she had went ice skating. Carefully, she stepped out onto the ice. So far, so good. Slowly, Skylar began to move her feet. At first she stumbled a little bit, but she didn't fall.
Compared to all of those around her, Skylar felt a little awkward. Everybody else was gliding and twirling, and she was just managing to keep her balance while barely moving. Going ice skating wasn't one of her most brilliant ideas. Maybe confidence was what she was lacking, she decided. A little on the wobbly side, she began to skate a little faster. So far she hadn't fallen; this made her grin.
Quickly she decided to spin in a circle. This was her mistake. She fell straight down onto the ice. Others around her stared, but she simply laughed. She felt around her for her wand, which had flew out of her pocket when she landed. Getting up on the ice was proving to be a lot harder than it was on the ground around the lake. After struggling for a few seconds, she managed to get up on her feet only to stumble right into somebody. "I'm so sorry!"

Having found nothing else to do, Hayate decided to spend his day learning about the school...well, the possible diversions that was. It was very cold out, colder than he was used to, but he shrugged it off all the same. Carrying a thermos, the young man approached the...was that a frozen lake? Upon getting within range to obtain a better view, Hayate confirmed that the lake was solid, but he did not understand why people were skating on the ice.
Staying silent, he sat down and watched for a few moments in hopes of comprehending this activity. As he observed the others, the young man opened the lid of the thermos he carried and took a sip of the steaming-hot fluid inside. Just what he needed: a sublime flavor with a complimenting temperature. Taking another sip of tea, Hayate closed the thermos and stood up, figuring he could probably figure out for himself by trying.
After finding a pair of skates that fit him from the 'rental box', the slytherin set out onto the ice, finding his balance rather quickly, but this was short lived. After only about five seconds of skating, something hit him from the side, causing Hayate to fall rather humorously. That was rather humiliating.. he thought, but only got back up without any supporting factors and brushed some ice flakes from his sleeves. He instantly heard an apology from someone and looked to his right to find a girl who was red in the face, unlike the others who were skating. "Why are you apologizing for something you didn't do?" Hayate questioned, blaming his own ignorance for the incident.

Rose glanced around. No one she knew seemed to be around, but that was alright. She was happy to be alone, and ice skating as well. She hadn't done that in a long time. Rose put on her skates and slowly made her way out onto the ice. Only stumbling twice before beginning to regain her balance, Rose began to glide. She closed her eyes and relaxed her muscles, letting a calm feeling rush over her, like the cold shiver that ran down her spine with the wind. It felt wonderful. Suddenly, the calm feeling rushed away as she fell into the snow and was forced to reopen her eyes. "Well, better into the snow than into a person..." She thought. Slightly laughing at herself, Rose turned and saw two other students hit into each other. One was knocked over. As a reflective action, Rose stood up and quickly made her way to the two of them. "Is everyone alright?" she asked calmly, bending down to help the boy up, but she was too late. He was already standing and brushing off some ice flakes. He said something about why the girl was apologizing for something she didn't do. Rose smiled, and tried not to interrupt, but had to politely ask: "Is everything alright?"
