*I’m taking this chance to say, ****************************************
Yumi skipped dinner. She never really ahd an appitete anymore, not after she made the huge life-altering decision to run away instead of going back to the hell-hole she'd never once called home. She hoped no-one came her way, as there was no doubt she'd be crying when she tried to decide how to make this work. She also didn't know what she dreaded more, knowing she'd have lack of food or the fact her mother and fatehr would most definatly send ehr a most angry letter when she returned to Hogwarts.
Yumi arrived at her destination, a large tree she usually climbed. Today she was in no mood for climbing, no, instead, shakily, she placed herself behind it, putting her head between her knees and began to cry softly. Actually, I say softly, I mean it started off as soft, but it gradually got louder. Not full pelt crying, but rather loud all the same. She couldn't think, crying had enraptured her completely, taking her as it's prisoner, once again.

Trevent had been watching Yumi for some time. Even considering the drama occurring in his own life, he had the time to watch the younger Gryffindor. He had noticed her slowly withdrawing from everything and needless to say was becoming extremely worried. So tonight, when he had been stuffing his face as per normal, he had looked around for her. He should have been able to just pick her out, but alas, she didn't seem to be there. Knowing he had perfect duties that night, and could easily visit the Kitchen, he stuffed one more roll into his mouth. Then he stood, waving off his yearmates, and left the hall. Climbing his way to the Gryffindor Tower, he once again wished that either the castle was smaller or Godric had had the sense to place his house closer to the main portions. Trevent figured that he would look first in the Common Room, then maybe her room. Being a perfect, he was able to get past the stairs. It might have been easier to ask the other girls if they had seen her, but Trevent figured the answer would have been no. Finding no trace of her in either rooms, he sat on the couch for a minute. Where would she have gone? He thought back to the day they had formally met, and realized exactly where she would be. That damn tree, way out in the middle of the grounds. Sighing, he headed up to his room, grabbing his cloak, gloves and scarf. Then, on a second thought, grabbed another of his cloaks. Stupid girl probably didn't have hers. His thoughts swirled on what could have made her do something so odd. Nothing he could think of made sense. And there, she was. Right behind the tree, in the cold. But, she was crying. He frowned. Crying was never good in his books. Walking up to her, he wrapped the second cloak around her, shortly followed by his arms. Poor thing, he couldn't imagine what was wrong. Best way to find out, ask. "Hey, there."Okay, so instead, he had decided to let her do the talking. If she decided not to, well, he was still there for her. Maybe, depending on how she responded, he could think of a joke to make her laugh. That was what he was good at, laughing. And eating he guessed, though he had put that off for the young girl that was shivering and crying in his arms.

She'd hoped she wasn't so loud. She didn't want any prefects finding she was out of bed, but seeing as she wasn't at dinner it was likely someone would find her. 10 minutes into crying, she felt a fabric drop on her shoulders, followed by a warm pair of arms. "Hey, there." Trevent. She could already pick his voice out from anywhere. She hiccuped and stuttered, "H-h-h-*hic*h-hiya..." She rested her head on his chest and continued to sob lightly.
A few moments later Yumi picked herself up and whispered, "I, I, you won't ..." She calmed down a bit more, then tried again. "I,I've made a decision... you, you won't l-like it..." Then promptly burst into tears.

He wished that she would see what a beautiful and spirited witch she was. But, Yumi always sold herself short. And he hated to see that in anyone. He waited, patiently, as she gathered herself together. After a few minutes, she appeared to have gotten herself under control. Or enough to try and speak. He couldn't understand a lick of it, aside from "decision" and "you won't". He made no attempt to loose his hold on her. Clearly, she wasn't okay. And as she began to sob again, he knew something was terribly wrong. He tried to piece together a meaning from her words. Had she made a decision? And he wouldn't want? One day, Trevent would have to check the library and see if it had a book on understanding girls. Because, lately, he really needed to read something of that nature.
"Shh, darling, shh...I promise, it's okay. I know it is. And whatever it is, I can help you with it. Shh..."
He wondered if he was doing the right thing. In all the muggle movies he had seen, if a girl was crying the guy shhed her. But, then again, they were muggles. Perhaps not too much different then the magical community, they did have some odd customs. He just hoped that he was really and honestly helping the girl in his arms. Otherwise, they were both sitting in the cold for no real reason.

Yumi couldn't control herself when she was sobbing. She was scared of everything, how her parents would react, her life was going into shambles, but worst of all, she didn't want to hurt Trevent. "Shh, darling, shh...I promise, it's okay. I know it is. And whatever it is, I can help you with it. Shh..." Yumi couldn't help laughing at that point. Of course Trevent couldn't help her. She was running away, for Pete's sake. She didn't let on that she was, of course, she'd not do anything unnecessary. She knew she'd come out as an idiot, sitting behind a tree and sobbing her heart out. Yumi shook her head, she couldn't tell him. "I'm running away, so no, Trevent. you can't bloody help."[/b] Oh poo. Please, please say she hadn't said that out loud ... ?

Stunned, that was the word. He was stunned by what she had said. Run away. To where? The words didn't register in his mind. Surely not. Why would someone do that. It really didn't make sense. Home could not be that bad. And if it was, she could just come home with Jay and him. After all, Pureblood would allow Pureblood. He was sure of it. And Yumi and Jay were the same year. It might work. His mind thought of excuses of why she shouldn't.
"Why?"
Maybe if he could understand why she wanted to run away, then he could find a way to get her to stop. It wouldn't due to just jump ahead of himself if he didn't know the reason. Right? Right. So, he tightened his hold on Yumi. He wasn't going to let her go now. In fact, he hoped to coax her back inside and back to dinner. If it wasn't over already that was. Poor girl was skin and bones in his arms and he was sure that wasn't good. Not at all. Was she just stressed so much about her family that she was losing weight? He brushed away the thought that someone wouldn't eat. It didn't fit into his life or thinking patterns. No, focus on why she would run away then on her lack of meat.

He didn't say anything the first little while, so Yumi started silently sobbing and shoking again. Then, a soft, "Why?" was uttered. "Because I can't take it anymore!" she cried. "All of it! And I can't get help because they'll know! Then they'll beat me harder than ever and I don't want that!" Just the thought of it made her sick and she burst into fresh batches of tears. "Trevent, please don't tell anyone! They'll try and stop me! I'm sick of all the abuse and the yelling and the blaming and the pain! Please please please don't tell anyone." The girl was speaking nothing but the truth. She felt the only way out was not seeing them again. She didn't want to go back to that hell hole ever again. "I'm so sorry Trevent. I'll try and come back to Hogwarts but I'm scared they'll hurt me."

The thought of someone hurting her, hitting her. It flooded him and he immediately decided to make them pay. She was just a little thing, feisty at times and undoubtedly sweet. Trevent couldn't see how someone, anyone, could want to make her feel pain. It made him see red. Bullies where not tolerated in Gryffindor. And so help him, if they were one of his house mates, they would be in a heap of trouble with all the males. And if they weren't Gryffindor, then they would have to deal with the 6th and 7th years. There was no good reason to hit someone, much less a small frail girl. He stroked her hair, as he reasoned out what he would do. Notifying her family would come after he and his mates had dealt with the slime ball. Or should he notify the Headmaster first? No, that wouldn't work. His head of house, and then her family. Potter would help him, he knew.
"I promise, Yumi, no one will hurt you ever again. I'll take care of it." His voice was hard and determined. It was certainly out of character with the laid back boy. "You hear me? No one is going to ever lay a hand on you again. You're like my sister and I intend to make sure that is known. There is some blessing in being a le Fay. No one in Hogwarts, no one, will think about harming a hair on your head when I'm done with the lousy git that's hurting you. I promise it. You just have to tell me who it is."
He looked down at her, expectantly. Trevent knew that the hardest part was admitting it. He had been through the training as a Prefect on how to deal with bullies. Though, to be honest, his plans weren't strictly regulation. Hell, they were far from it. He didn't care if it was Jay. The scum was going to pay. Potter and Conner would help. He was positive.

The word 'taunts' made a quote from her father immediatly spring to mind. She said it aloud, quoting it. "I am nothing more than an ugly little Gryffindor who'll earn scars everytime I am at h- there. If I died on the spot no one would care. No one would come running. I am friendless. Alone in a big wide world, with monsters for my family." And that's when Yumi stopped. It was her family and she'd just let it slip. She shifted about uncomfortably. She'd let it slip, she was going to be in trouble if they found out anyway. Why not tell him? "It's my family. The people I live with." she whispered, pushing up her sleeves to reveal more scars littering her arms. Not many, but large scars. "Want to know why I never wear short sleeves? There it is. I can't hide the scar on my face." She sighed. "I'm used to it now." There was a pause. If Trevent flipped her wrists over, she'd be finished. You see, all of Yumi's scars were at an angle, as she'd always tried to stuggle away, but with no success. The scars on the other sides of her wrists were like the bottom of a bracelt missing the top. It wasn't, however, from her parents. It was from herself, when she'd tried to ... well, she dug a knife into her wrists. Sighing, she pulled the sleeves back down. "Please, Trevent. You can't tell anyone I'm running away. Please. I trust you. I've only told you about the scars. And it'll be better than in there."

Seeing her fear and pain, just send him over the edge. He understood for the first time why someone would use Crucio. At that moment he wanted to, no longed to. Then she pushed back her sleeves, and Trevent swore that he saw red. They hurt her that bad! Their own flesh and blood. He decided Yumi was not going back to that house. She was going to go home with either him, Ana or Albus. Did her boyfriend know that things were this bad? If not Yumi was going to tell him or Trevent would.
But first he was going to take her to the Headmaster. This was child abuse and was surely illegal. In fact, in light of that, Trevent would be of age shortly. He would file for custody. Write home first and make sure it was acceptable though. Absently, he grabbed her wrist as she was pulling her sleeves down. Intent on pulling her towards the school to report it, he didn't realize what he was feeling. Then it clicked, scars on her wrist. Different than the ones he had seen on her arms. Slowly he turned towards her. Snapping at her words, his voice rough.
"You're not running away. You're just not going back. And yes, we are telling someone else, so I can get you out of there." His eyes locked with hers and he paused. Then he flipped her arm over and pointed at the knife scar. He shook his head, voice now a hiss. "Explain yourself and this!"
He couldn't believe her. Of all secrets to keep, she had kept these. And from him! Trevent had always treated her as a younger sister. Cared for her and cuddled her. He had tried his best to keep her safe and now, he felt like he had failed. Telling himself he couldn't have stopped the strife at home, he nonetheless was guilty. Maybe if he had tried hard, pressed more, or just was there. But he had been too busy in his own life, selfishly, and she had gotten hurt. This was worse than Petra. Yumi was an innocent.

Yumi had never seen Trevent like this, never. Never, if she'd had the choice, would she have wanted to. Who was he to know what it was like in there? Who was he to decide for her? He played no part in her family life, he had no blood-ties with her. He was not deciding for her, no, he couldn't and wouldn't. She struggled to pull her hand away from him, then, his rough voiced words filled her ears - "You're not running away. You're just not going back. And yes, we are telling someone else, so I can get you out of there." The tears coming out of her face were pouring harder now. "No, no! You don't understand, you don't understand! Please, please no! No, Trevent! I can't, I can't! she sobbed. She felt, rather than saw, through a flurry of tears, him flip her arm over. Her tears stopped. Yes, the young girl did feel upset, but also angry. It seemed as though living in a house of pure evil had finally got the better of her. With a sharp yank, Yumi pulled her wrist back to herself. "Explain yourself and this!" "Okay, I'll tell you. This scar, yes your right, it's not from them. It's from me, Trevent, from when it got so much I selfharmed my self, but they walked in and stopped me, and we returned to a nice loving family I had as a kid. I thought they actually loved me. Then they started up again." She glared at Trevent, her face a thundercloud black. She'd trusted him. Was he deliberatly destroying this? Finally, she snapped. "You know what? My dad's right. I am a stupid little Gryffindor because I trusted you! And you ... I thought you of all people would understand. But you don't. Trevent. You will not tell anyone, or I'll hunt you down and cause you pain. I will fucking kill you if you tell anyone, you snottynose little bastard." She shook her head at his, then ran back to the castle, annoyed and upset, and tired. She didn't know tomorrow, she would be running away.

Her threat had done little to move him. Her tears and anger had been more effective. They didn't make him any less determined to report her family. In fact, they caused Trevent to solidify his plan. True he could not imagine what Yumi had gone through. But he could admire how she had been so strong and not buckled under. He was proud of her. Trevent started back towards the castle, full of knowing he was doing the right thing.
All thoughts of dinner were replaced with what would be the correct order of movements. Headmaster first? Then his parents? But, Trevent didn't quite trust Robert LeBlanc. What if the man told Yumi's parents instead of doing something? And of course, Trevent did not have proof or even Yumi to show him. With a slight sigh, he turned toward the Owlery. The long stairs gave him ample time to form out his letter home. For all the differences between his parents and him, Trevent had a good life with his family. They loved each other. His parents would surely act correctly for Yumi. Even if they wouldn't so much welcome another Gryffindor, they wouldn't go so far as to ignore the abuse of a pureblood. No, they were firm Blood supporters.
He quickly wrote out the planned letter, sending it home with his owl. Then he turned, and decided to go to the kitchens and get a snack and tell Ana. Later, when she had a chance to cool down. He could find Yumi again. But when later finally came, Trevent couldn't find her anywhere. And a shiver of fear slid down his spine. What if he had done the wrong thing? Or in the wrong order?
