SUGAR AND SPICE

Petra sat in Three Broomsticks drinking butterbeer and since her father own the place she could get anything she wanted for free. A lot has happen the last few months. Brandon, her boyfriend of three months broke up and it end nasty since he figure out that she would rather be with Trevent then him. The whole Trevent thing was a different story. He said he loved her but he couldn’t be with her. He just couldn’t deal with the fact that she will one day be a DE just like his family and that one day she will might be on the other side of the battle field. Ok if she had to fight against Trevent she didn’t know what she will do. Though she couldn’t back out since Jack will kill her if she thought about it. But during those months she found out that boys where dumb, immature and couldn’t make up there minds. She hasn’t even told Trevent about her little plans and her joining the DE. So she knew that something deeper was going on and he didn’t want her to know.
The only good thing that came out of everything she got adopted by Jack. She was now a Riddle and loved being one. She was soon going to be in the DA as a spy but she still need to talk to Bellatrix if that what she wanted. She knew she could pull being on the DA side since people still believe she was the sweet and innocent but she wasn’t, not anymore. She had everyone fooled. She had a feeling that some people will question her loyalties but she was smart enough to think of ways to prove her loyalties to them. She just need the word and she will join the DA.
She took a sip of her butterbeer and look around. Her father shop was always busy and that was good a thing.

Griffin White shivered as a breeze of wind blew his hair back. Though he used a gel that was highly recommended by Wizard's Fashion magazine, it seemed to have no effect. He blew it out of his eyes and tried desperately to shape it back up. The year seemed to have moved so quickly. One second he was dating Amulet, who had gone back to Beauxbatons, the next he spent with Dom, and now his responsibilities of an Auror trainee had gotten larger. The only reason he was not already an Auror was because of his age. Apparently, 18 was too young to be an Auror in the eyes of the Ministry.
Finally, the snow was melting. It seemed as if winter would never end. The days were actually getting darker. And Griffin knew something was going on. The Ministry was covering up dissapearances, murders, and abductions on a daily basis.
The first drops of dew were only beginning to fall. Some days, darkness was present double the time that light was. Even still, he had to look at the bright part of things....if there were any. People like him were on the border of finding out the truth about things. Of course, rumors were flying around. Voldemort's heir, a new hero, and the works like that. Things like that would scare the heck out of the common witches and wizards of the Wizarding World. The Ministry did not want people to know, but they were getting pretty good guesses. Almost all the streets were coated with Ministry officials that honestly could be hiding a tad better. The Minister was so desperate that it seemed as if almost anyone could become an Auror and strut the streets of Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley.
The wind was REALLY getting to Griffin now. Shivering helplessly, he walked inside The Three Broomsticks. Silently, he ushered the bartender to bring him a butterbeer. Griffin drank it quickly and his insides became revitalized again. Still with his hood on, he scanned the room out of the corners of his eyes. It was a useful habit, but not one he was necessarily happy about.
As his eyes went back and forth, he spotted a girl dressed beautifully. Griffin knew her. It was Petra Conner. Something had changed about her though. Her face was still bright, but something bad and deceiving lurked in her dark eyes. And her mouth was twisted into a smirk; not of happiness, but of melancholy.

SUGAR AND SPICE

Petra eyes wander around looking for familiar faces. She saw a few but they weren’t people she wanted to talk or be friendly too. She spotted her dear friend, Griffin. She stood up and walk towards him. “Why Griffin you came all this way down here and didn’t say hi to me. You hurt my feelings.” She teased lightly and took a spot next to him. “What brings you down here?” She ask.
She hasn’t seen him in a while and though she didn’t really mind that he didn’t come around enough. She had other things to do and since she didn’t really want Griffin to notice her changes and she really didn’t want him to notice them. He will be suspicious of her and she couldn’t have that, could she. “You hardly come see me anymore. Did you forget about me?” She asked him though she knew he had Auror stuff he had to deal with.
She took another glance around and return her eyes back to Griffin. She could remember the last time they spoken to each other. She was crying and he comforter her but she wasn’t the same girl back then. She was stronger and wasn’t afraid to hurt people. That was her problem back then; she was weak and let people walk all over her. She learn that she needed to stand up for herself and how to be more confident in herself. She was now one of the best dueler in Hogwarts and with Jack’s help in the dark arts she will be best dueler in Hogwarts. She already mastered the unforgivables but she couldn’t have people knowing that she did.

The butterbeer gave Griffin a sort of wake-up call. Shocked his whole body with a rush of adrenaline. He swore he felt tired more of the time. As if he was aging drastically by the day. Especially recently. For some reason, Griffin White did not have the stamina and ability to hop back after pulling an all-nighter at the Ministry. But it could also have been because they were becoming more frequent nowadays. And in turn, that made him more grumpy. On the other hand, Griffin still loved the taste of butterbeer; acting as if it was some sort of 'fountain of youth'. If he was drowsy and needed to stay up longer, his top two energizers were coffee and butterbeer. Coffee still seemed like junk to him because it just tasted so BAD. How muggles drank it on a daily basis...he would never know.
Returing his attention to the glass mug of butterbeer in front of him, he drained it empty of its remaining contents. Griffin slammed the mug down onto the dimly lit, wooden table. The bartender quickly turned his attention to him. He raised his hand, which the bartender took as the signal for another round of butterbeer. As the new mug of butterbeer was placed in front of Griffin, the warm essence of the drink lingered into his nose and caused him to smile pleasurably. The drink soothed his dry throat and tingled through his body, making him warmer by the second. Suddenly, the wooden door of the Three Broomsticks opened. A dry, freezing wind blew into the room. It caused him to shiver with a not so pleasant attitude. A commotion rose in the bar. Apparently, everyone else felt the same way as he did.
He loooked toward Petra and saw a pretty, petite girl. Obviously she went to Hogwarts. Maybe he could ask her about what was up with the great school. But part of him knew that Petra Conner, the innocent child, had changed. Griffin had not been there in months and was completely out of contact with his friends there. He put on a bright smile as she came.Griffin didn't necessarily know if it was fake or sincere...but at best it was half and half. “Why Griffin you came all this way down here and didn’t say hi to me. You hurt my feelings. What brings you down here?” Petra questioned. "Oh I've been here and there. A ton of ministry work. Too many all-nighters for me. Now I needed a break, and even in school...The Three Broomsticks was my favorite place to just get away from everything. How about you?" replied Griffin. Something was seriously up with Petra. Her eyes had changed. But she knew he was smart enough to notice these things. Smarter than a LOT of other people at Hogwarts. So she had to do her best to disguise...whatever was going on.

“I’ve been good. Just got dump by Trevent Le Fay about two weeks ago but its all good. Oh and I’m not a alternate anymore. Thank goodness. I was starting to get sick and tired of sitting there during quidditch games and watching from the bench. ” Petra said lightly. “You should come watch me play the next game.” She could guess that Griffin was noticing things but she was still smarter then him on any given day. “So you’re in the ministry now? That’s so exciting. I was looking into being the ministry.”
She looked down at her skirt and straighten it out so it wouldn’t wrinkle that much. She ran her hand throw her hair and let her hair fall on her shoulder. Her appearance change a lot since the last time she saw him. She wore makeup and her fashion was different. She was also more girly and love spending time on her appearance. She no longer hid her figure with oversized clothes instead embrace it and show it off. She didn’t want to look like her innocent self anymore and she wasn’t. She was different and she wanted Trevent and others to know that. It was time that she grew up.
She took the last sip of the butterbeer and raised her hand slightly signaling the bartender she needed another butterbeer. “So other then ministry work… what else have you been up to Griffin?” She smile at the bartender and took a sip of her butterbeer enjoying the cold liquid going down her throat.
