It always would be. He would never be comfortable in doing and believing the things that he knew his own mother had done before and still pledged herself too. The war was coming and there could be no neutral sides this time around. So the fact that Rose was now here in Britain without any idea about what was going on, well it terrified him. Everything was muted; so it made sense that no one outside of the country would know what was stewing. But for her to be so clueless to voice something out loud in such a public place? That screamed stupidity. Trevent might have not been the smartest wizard but he knew not to admit that you were unsure of the political tense. It was suicide, Rose was pureblood she had to keep up the act as well as he did. So half in shock, he listened to her confused questions. Then, quickly looking around, he leaned into her as well.
"This is not the place, meet me in the common room."
He muttered in her ear, then casually slipped away. The common room would be safer. So much more so. It would be nearly deserted and it was basically devoid of Death Eaters anyway. Both of them were Gryffindors, and Dark Gryffindors were like backstabbing Hufflepuffs, not something one saw often. He walked around the Hall. Giving time for Rose to slip out before he did. Trevent didn't want too much attention paid to either of them. Not until she understood what was going on. He joked with a few other Gryffindors and had one dance with one of the younger Gryffindors. Then, glancing around the hall to make sure she wasn't still there, he took his leave.
Thoughts swirled through his head as he made the familiar trek up to the Gryffindor Tower. Seventh floor was such a long ways from everything. He really didn't understand why Godric chose such a place for his students. But, in reality, it was good excise. He tried to think of a logical way to explain the current world to Rose, but he didn't even know where to start. She was sure to have so many questions and he didn't have all the answers. Maybe he should stick to the basics, and just tell her he didn't know much more. But, first, he should have a understanding of what she knew. He would have to question her first. Oh joy.
He pushed through the portrait, password falling off his lips as he had neared it. A quick scan showed that the Common Room was empty, no Rose in sight. And had there been anyone else in there, he could have just sent them away. Perfect power abuse be damned. So, he sat by the couch in front of the fire. Nerves causing him to run his fingers through his hair. It wasn't his favorite place in the common room, but the noise of the fire might drown out their conversation. If it was whispered. Not that he was too scared of it being over heard in their own common room. It wasn't that dangerous. Yet.

For some reason, Rose felt unnaturally frightened as Trevent leaned in and told her to meet him in the common room. What was wrong? There was something here she didn't know about! As Trevent made his way to mingle with other people, obviously giving her a chance to slip away, she stood up and slowly made her way towards the doors. Looking behind her, she saw him looking around. He's probably making sure I left already. she thought, and ran out. It was hard not to trip over her dress as she ran up the moving stairs towards the seventh floor. Why did it have to be so damned high up?! Even though she was tiring, she kept going. Rose just knew that whatever Trevent was going to come and tell her, it was important. Making her way to the portrait, Rose whispered the password and ran up to her dorm. Quickly, she undressed to get comfortable. She threw the dress into her trunk under the bed and slipped on warm, blue flannel pajama pants; a long-sleeved, somewhat tight matching shirt; and purple-striped fuzzy socks. By the time she came out of her dorm room and walked down towards the common room, Trevent was already sitting on the couch, waiting. Slowly, trying not to trip, Rose made her way down the stairs and sat down on the couch next to him. "Now will you tell me what's going on?" she asked quietly. The fire was bright and warm, and reflected in Trevent's eyes as she looked into them. There was genuine fear and concern within them, and it terrified Rose to find out why.

He stared into the flames, struggling to absorb their warmth and strength. Shivering, he slid his tux jacket off and absently slung it over the back of his couch. Waiting was the worse part of anything. When Trevent had to wait, his mind would wander and that was not usually a good thing. In this case his thoughts ran a muck with what he was going to say to Rose. How he would explain to her that the war was going onto stage 3. His parents were definitely on the side of the Dark Lord and Dark Mistress. And they pushed him to as well. For now, he couldn't even say that much, he was in a bind oath over it. Until he was of age, he could not speak things that his family head would dislike. Irksome yes. But, he could find ways around it, different phrasing and so forth. Anything too big of a secret though could not be passed along regardless. For now, he assumed that Rose was neutral. It would be foolish to assume anything different. Though he wanted her to believe in the good and join the order with him.
The movement of the couch and a slight scent that had always been a part of Rose brought his attention to the corporal world. She had a sweet tangy smell, like a kiwi, he thought. Regardless of her name, she was not a flowery kind of girl. Or that's how he saw her. Time changed people and Rose had grown up as well has he had. Trevent lazily reach for her hand, threading their fingers like when they had been kids. He nodded, yes he was intending on explain things to her. "You know, people yell at me if I wear purple and blue. Something about matching." He took a deep breath and decided to plunge along. "Okay, I'll explain everything in the ways that I can and know how. But first, I need to know anything that you know about the Wizarding world in Britain."

Rose chuckled as Trevent made the comment about her outfit. He had always been a bit of a joker, and that is what she always liked about him. She noticed him inhale, and realized that he was probably smelling the body spray she had on. It was her favorite. Strawberry kiwi. Back home, Jordan had always told her that she smelled like a fruit salad all the time. Trevent asked her to tell him everything she knew about the magical world in Britain, which wasn't much. "Well, I know about a lot of the old stories. I studied Harry Potter for a while and learned a lot from there. Like how this school was founded. When I first came here, I did go to Diagon Alley and went into all the shops needed, of course. Is there much else to know?" she said. As he entwined his fingers with hers, she felt a bit more calm. He had always known how to make her feel better. Rose thought that maybe it was just being around him that calmed her. An old friend, someone she knew she could trust. Hopefully, his news wouldn't be so terrible. What could possibly be going on that is just so awful? The only thing Rose could think of that would be so bad would be a war. But, was that possible? A war still going on in Britain after all these years? Maybe it was possible. The thought sent a cold shiver down her spine as she waited for Trevent's answer. If this is the same war that happened during Potter's time she thought I wonder if there is still an Order of the Pheonix. If so, I'll be there.
