The sun was beginning to set outside over the grounds outside of Hogwarts Castle. It was beautiful, tinting the sky into shades of pink, purple and orange. It was defiantly a site to see. It was perfect, and amazing. It made Nina breathless as she gazed outside of the window by her bed in the dormitory. It was exactly how she wanted Aidan to feel when he seen her at the ball that night. She had spent hours upon hours trying to come up with the perfect outfit and look for the ball. The other sixth years watched her intently, and were still randomly watching her from the bathroom door or from their beds as they got ready and she sat, calmly gazing out of the window.
There was really no reason for Nina to get worked up. There was still plenty of time for her to get ready, and anyway the bathroom was defiantly full of girls at the moment who were trying to rush and get ready early to meet up with their dates or friends from other houses in the Entrance Hall. Nina wasn't one of them. Aidan was going to meet her in the Great Hall, she had made sure of that. It would make things easier because after the fight in Hogsmeade, it had made Nina more nervous about the ball then she would have been. She wanted to impress him and she just hoped that things were back to normal between the two.
Finally as the bathroom and dorm calmed down and became empty, Nina made her way into the bathroom. She need to take a nice warm shower before attempting to get ready. She had nerves that she needed to calm down. Taking extra after washing her hair Nina stayed under the hot water. Sadly, it did not seem to help her nerves at all. Once getting out, she wrapped a towel around her body as she went to find her white robe which was fluffy and comfortable. After tying it around her she made her way back into the bathroom.
Soon after the shower, Nina had managed to put herself together. Her hair was only half up as she left it down and straight. She clipped a small hair piece in it to add to the look. Satesfied she made her way toward the white dress that was hanging up on her poster bed. Slipping it on she included her shoes as well as the final piece of getting ready.
Looking at herself in the mirror. She smiled. Yes, it was perfect. She was hoping that Aidan would be speechless when he seen her. Making her way down the steps and and toward the Great Hall, she took a deep breathe as she walked into the Great Hall. It was beautiful, like always. Taking a few more steps inside the Great Hall she looked around. Where was he? She was worried that maybe Aidan had decided to not go because he did not want to go with her. Panick quickly boiled in her stomach as she felt over heated.

His stomach was trying to rebel. It was to the point where he was glad he had barely eaten anything at the dinner that his mother had insisted he have with her. She was thrilled about Nina and him, claiming she had seen it coming for years. He just wanted to roll his eyes, considering the fuss she was making. Aidan swore she was already planning the children. He swallowed, was he thinking that far in advance as well? Quickly, he looked around his room one last time. He was early, but he wasn't sure what time Nina would be there. He'd rather be the first one in the hall than late for her. Grabbing the flowers he had gotten for her, he left the common room and head down for the Hall. Few people were there and Aidan was able to get a good table. He wasn't sure who would sit with them; to be honest he would be happy if it was just them too. Nervously, he plucked at his tuxedo. Susan had picked it out. Most of it, at least. She hadn't wanted the hat, but Aidan liked it. It fit him. Even if the rest of it was just too loud and attention snatching. He wasn't sure if Nina would recognize him with it on. More people were starting to arrive and Aidan smiled at the ones that he was friendly with. Then something told him to turn. She was standing at the entrance, stunning, breath-taking. She looked like an angel had fallen to Earth. And, as hard as it was too believe, she was waiting for him. For Aidan Diarmund Boot. What a sin. All this time, they had been more than friends. And he was just too blind to notice. Struggling to raise to his feet, he started towards Nina. Quickening his pace when he noticed the faint frown on her features. Gods above, he was such a lucky man. Gathering his nerve, he reached up from behind her. And leaned down to whisper in her ear. "Wow, lass, you look beyond words." He waited for her to turn around and, with a meek smile, handed her the flowers. "I hope they're okay, I picked them out me self."Then, he offered her his arm. Pride radiating off him, he was the date to the most beautiful girl in the whole world.

There were only a few times in Nina's life that she was truly as nervous as she was at that moment. Actually, she couldn't think of one that was equal. This was the worst ever and Nina was not at all liking the anxiety that waiting and looking for Aidan was causing her. Why couldn't love be easy? Oh, thats right because it is love. Everyone knew love was never easy, and Nina was starting to learn just how difficult it can be. Sadly though, she was still hoping that after the two got around the road block that things would be easy because with Aidan, everything was pretty easy. She was really wanting things to go back to normal between them, she hated feeling distanced from him.
It had been a few days, almost a week since the two had talked or seen each other. It had seemed that they were slightly avoiding each other. She could understand why, though she wished that she would have cornered him once before the ball so at least things would not be so awkward between them as it was bound to be if he actually showed up.
Grabbing onto the sides of her dress with each hand she fiddled with that to keep her hands busy. Her eyes were still gazing all over the place looking for that familar face that made her melt. She could see several people she knew already there. The Great Hall was full of people already but not that one person that she was in desperate need to see. She felt like she was going to have an anxiety attack and she was about to find a seat; however, her feet would not move and her hands were still glued to her dress. If Aidan didn't show up soon, Nina was going to hunt him down and he would wish that he was never born.
As she awaited her knight, she looked around again. This time at the girls. They were all visions in white and she wondered how she could ever go up against some of the girls. They were beautiful, and she was sure looked far better then she did. She felt a pang in her stomach once more. Had he decided to go with someone else? No, it was nonsense. She should't be worrying, after all it was her Aidan and everyone knew how close they were and everyone also seemed to know that something more was between the two.
And then, as if on cue beings the nerves were getting the best of her, she heard him whisper in her ear. Turning around slowly, not fully trusting herself to move to fast in the heels her eyes fell upon him. Everything in her body wanted to just wrap her arms around him and let their lips finally meet. But, beings it was Nina, she wasn't about to do that. Blushing slightly at his words she said, "I hope thats a good beyond words," she said staring directly into his eyes. And then she noticed the flowers he was handing to her. She took them out of his hands gently and put them to her nose. They smelled as beautiful as the looked. Then leaning in she kissed him on the cheek, this time knowing it was more then a friendly kiss. "You look great Aidan," she said as her stomach started to calm down.

The normal fluttering that Aidan felt around Nina increased. He wanted nothing more than to create a perfect evening for her. She was amazing, in every way possible. Except her temper, even he had to admit that her temper wasn't exactly flattering. But, hey everyone has flaws, even his own sweet Lass. His own, was she really going to be his? Finally? He didn't want to count on it, pushing it out of his mind. Her comment and kiss left him blushing slightly and he almost panicked. Almost, this was right. He knew it, in over atom of his being. Nina and him were two halves of a whole. Tucking her hand firmly under his arm, he headed back to the table. "Of course it's good Nina. Come on, when do you not look good? And don't say that time you were sick with Dragon Pox five summers ago. Doesn't count."He was relaxing, must have been the familiarity between the two of them. After all, they had been friends for years before each had developed feelings for the other. Right? Completely. Even a spat like last week couldn't break up their friendship. Aidan had to admit it was a good thing that they finally broke down. And it wasn't like it was their worse fight ever. Shit, he could remember one time that they had fought over the bathroom. He smiled, Nina hadn't talked to him for two weeks afterwards. Finally, he had drawn up a schedule for it's use and slipped it under her door. By lunchtime it was like they had never stopped talking. All the memories they had together were make for some funny stories later on. They reached the table and he pulled out her chair for her. Muttering a be right back, he headed over to the refreshments. A cup of punch for them both and some fruit balanced within his hands, he made his way back. Pausing as he saw her again, he sighed. Gods above, she looked so amazing tonight. He wasn't sure if it was because of knowing she felt the same about him as he did about her, or whether she had just done something different. Though, he didn't mind the way she normally looked. After all, she was beautiful even when she first woke up in the morning. Well, maybe not in behavior. The twins wouldn't speak to her until after lunchtime. Sometimes Aiden thought they were the smarter ones. Nina was a straight up dragon in the mornings. "I wasn't exactly sure if you would want cookies or anything yet. But I figured, I couldn't go wrong with Fruit." He sat down beside her, handing her a cup and the bowl. "Especially since if you don't want it, I'll eat it."

As she looked at the most beautiful guy she had ever truly met in her life, well one of the most beautiful guys she smiled. Inside and outside he was everything that Nina Rose-Lee Hill wanted. She already could imagine herself dressed in white, much like she currently was, marrying Aidan who was the man of her dreams; however, the couple wasn't exactly even a couple yet. They were just two people with mutual feelings but nothing had been set, so it was kind of early for her to let her mind wonder the wedding day. If they even made it that far, then his family would truly be hers.
After the confrontation, she couldn't help but wonder if his mother had been told about it. Nina knew that his mother would have easily been able to tell that something was bothering her son, and he would have most likely told her too. She wondered how his mother felt about it all. Was she worried about them staying together so close over Christmas? Was she happy? Did she have a feeling that the two best friends would end up in love eventually? Mothers knew such things, so maybe it wasn't much of a surprise. Nina was hoping though that she would be accepting with the two's feelings for each other, she couldn't imagine not having his family in her life. It would kill her. But now that she knew that he had feelings for her, she couldn't just ignore it. At least she was positive now since he had asked her to be his date that he did.
Nina allowed Aidan to take her arm and put it around his arm as he led her back to the table that he must have got when he first arrived at the school. As he responded she laughed. Aidan knew everything about her even the embarassing parts of her life. But it was right. She was glad he knew it all. "No I was actually thinking last year during the Quidditch match with your house when it was storming and I lost control of my broom and crashed into the stands," she said with a laugh. Yes everything seemed right again between the two. It was great. She was happy now. Happier then she had ever been.
Sitting down as he pulled out her chair she looked back at him with a smile. Oh this night was going to be the best night of her life. At least up into that point in her life at least. Nina waited for Aidan to get back to the table. She needed him in her sight, she needed him next to her. Smiling as he brought back a drink and fruit for her she let him speak. Laughing she then picked up a grape from the bowl of fruit and threw it at him, "Your worse then you are at home, this is my food! Stay back or I'll- I'll bite you!" she exlaimed threw her laughter.

Aidan was so glad that he had gotten this chance. That he had worked up the nerve to ask her to the Ball. He wanted to ask for more, to ask for her to be his, to be his forever. But he was only 16 and didn't want to sound so childish. After all he would have the rest of his life to determine how to win her. For now, he could just enjoy what he had and be thankful for it. Didn't he have the most beautiful girl at the ball as a date? And she was the sweetest, nicest, most amazing girl in all of Hogwarts, nay the world. He was in fact a very very lucky young man. Smiling down at her, he grabbed a piece of pineapple from the bowl. "Even then you were stunning. Wet hair dripping, cheeks flushed, eyes flaming, twas a picture."He meant it. Though she might have thought she looked terrible, it was just another part to who she was to him. A siren, he swore. There wasn't much she could do that would affect the way he felt. It was boundless, something his mother had seen and spoke to him about. She had told him if he hurt Nina, she would disown him. Funny that, his own mother taking Nina's side. But it didn't matter, he wasn't going to hurt her, ever if he could help it. She was more precious than anything else. "Easy now, I might like that."With her, he could joke and be light hearted. Not the serious boy he was with everyone else. He liked that. She brought out the best of him. Aidan leaned closer to her. He could smell her soap. It reminded him of home and summers. How he longed to be forward enough to wrap his arm around her. Or even, dare he think about it, kiss her. He was so fully in love with Nina that it sometimes hurt.

Nina had been so caught up with Aidan and finding him or her thoughts of him that she really had not took the time out to appreciate the decorations. They were close to usual for the Christmas Ball; however due to the theme a lot of the decorations were all white and not mixed with Christmas colors. Her favorite part was how the walls looked like walls of ice. The whole place looked magical, and Nina knew that it was going to be one magical night.
The guy who was now sitting next to Nina had no clue just how much he meant to her. She knew that he had no clue how madly in love with him she had come to be the last couple years. Spending every day with that person for years did that to you. In a way, the two were opposites, but opposites did attrack and there was no doubt in Nina's mind that she was attracked to him. Popping another piece of fruit quickly into her mouth she wondered how long the small silence was going to last. Sure things were starting to seem normal between the two but there was still a little bit of hesitance but Nina was sure that was coming from her.
She was flattered as he spoke. Of course he would be the one to thing she looked good after wrecking her broom. She knew she had looked bad, what with her hair all over the place and her face all red. But she wasn't about to argue that with him, she would take the compliment anyday from him. "I think your blind then Mister Boot," she said teasingly.
Again, she popped a piece of fruit into her mouth. This time it was another grape. She hadn't remembered loving grapes so much but now that she was sitting there eating them, she found them tasty. She loved them. She then looked up at him as he spoke about how he might like it that she was throwing fruit at him. Laughing she took another piece and threw it at him. "You know, I'm surprised at you," she said pausing for a dramatic moment, "I always thought you had a big mouth and you can't even catch fruit in it," she said once more teasingly as she looked at him as if it was a challenge.

Tonight was the night of all nights for him. Susan had told him, it was a hit or miss kind of night. And she had it down to the tie. This was a step in the right direction for Aidan and Nina, and he intended to push it further. At least, that was his plan. But, Aidan wasn't a pushy person, except on the field. If he thought of this like a football game, and Nina was the win, then perhaps he would come out okay. Who was he kidding? It wasn't logic to think of people like that. And of course, none of his beloved books had anything about how to date your best friend. He laughed with her, and reached out before he realized it to brush a strand of hair that was escaping from her face. He froze. That was not completely in character for him, he didn't usually do that. That was crossing the line, how would she react? Quickly, to try and cover it, he leaned in close to her, whispering. "Ah, but Nina, everyone knows your mouth is biggest, can you catch fruit in it?"Then, he winked and tossed a grape at her. Oddly enough, he had been planning on eating the grapes. Aidan hadn't known that Nina liked grapes so much. He hadn't even seen her eat them before tonight. Shaking his head at his lack of attention to her, he stood. Reaching a hand down, he smiled. "Would you do me the honor of a dance?"

The feelings that were flowing through Nina's blood were ones she had barely encountered and not even so strong as they were now. It seemed, now that she knew Aidan seemed to feel the same way for her as she did him that it just enhanced her feelings and made them more pronounced. She could feel her stomach fluttering as the butterflies flew around threatening to burst out of her and out from under the skin. It was, incredible. She loved the feeling, even though it made her feel weak and she knew that he now had the power to tear her into two.
Laughing, as she ate more of the fruit she was fully enjoying herself and throwing it at Aidan. Leaning over the table to reach for more of her fruit, she felt a strand of hair fall into her face. She had known it would happen through out the night because of her layers. At first when she had got her layers put in she fought with the strands of hair that flocked to her face multiple times. By now though she had got use to it she just let it do whatever it wanted.
Looking back toward Aidan she seen his hand reaching toward her and she froze. What was he doing? Then as he came near her air to whisper it became clear to her that he had wanted to say something to her. After he spoke he picked up a grape it threw it at her she let it hit her and bounce onto the floor. As he spoke she gasped playfully. "Mister Boot, that was the most insulting thing you have ever said," she said with a playful grin on her delicate face. Then she added louder and not as quiet, "But then again it is the truth," she finished.
Watcing as he stood up and held out his hand to her as he asked if she would dance with him she couldn't help but smile. "I'd love to," she said take his hand as she stood up. This night was going so well, it was becoming to be perfect. Just like she had wished it to be.

Aidan took her hand in his. The feelings coursing through his blood were almost too much for him to bear. It was as if fate had found him. He hoped it was his fate. He prayed for it. Nina was his dream, his prefect future. If he hadn't know better, he would have embraced it all. But still, he was hesitant. What if he lost her in the end? What if it wasn't her fate to his? He didn't think he could handle that. He was glad that he had yet to See anything dealing with Nina. He hoped it was because his fate was too entwined with her own. Aidan then remembered a flaw in his plan. He didn't know how to dance. He played football; that was his only graceful period. Dancing and twirling were not for him. He looked sheepishly back at her. He knew it was a Ball and that meant dancing. So he had just automatically asked her to dance. It was more of a chance to just feel her in his arms. Not to actually swirl around on the dance floor. "Eh, umm. Lass, I seemed to have forgotten..."He trailed off. He knew that Nina would know what he was saying. And he hoped beyond hoping that she would find a solution. Logically, he could not see anything that would answer the problem. Aidan felt like a failure. Epically. He even became to blush, faintly. What a fool he was. He shifted from one foot to the other as he watched her for the answer.

Nina's heart was literally pounding by now, threatening to jump right through her skin. She even considered the fact that Aidan could probably hear it to, though it was a bit of an exaggeration. There was now way he could really hear it pounding, though if he felt where her heart was he would defiantly feel it. It was funny how much things had already changed between them but not changed. Now that their feelings seemed to be more out there for each other he effected her so much more then usual.
Not even aware or thinking that she had never once seen Aidan dance she herself forgot all about it, to caught up with the thought of being close to him, that he couldn't. Nina felt bad, for she had willingly jumped up and said yes without much thought to help him out. Once he stopped Nina looked around. There was a solution, though first she felt this need to do something else.
Keeping Aidan's hand in her own she pulled him just a little bit closer to herself. A smile spread across her face. "Well I have a few solutions," she said rather quietly. As far as she seen it, it was now or never and wasn't going to just let the moment slide away from her grasp. Sure it should have been him making the move but she knew him and since she had the courage to do it she wasn't going to hesitate. She let the words float up to his mind before she finished, allowing him time to try to figure out what was coming. With that, she gently laid her lips on his as her heart raced faster and faster as she did. Pulling away she held on to his hand and led him off to the corner of the dance floor where it was rather dark and empty. The music was slowing down, which was just perfect.
Moving his arms around her waste she continued to smile at him. She then put her arms around his neck as she swayed slowly to the music. "All fixed," she said still waiting for his reaction to the kiss, unsure if she had crossed some kind of invisible boundry.

It was so sudden and almost wrong feeling. Everything was moving so much faster now that they both understood how the other felt. He knew he should have been the one to make the first move but to do something so upfront was alien to his nature. So, he followed after her, allowing her to take the lead. It was normal for him anyway to do so. Nina was always the leader in their relationship. Aidan guessed that he should show some sense of wanting this to happen. He just didn't know how. To be honest, that right there had been his first kiss. And he hadn't even been the one to initiate it. It was easy enough to shrug off, since she had been the one to do it. Nina was everything to him, beyond a doubt. Carefully, he moved one of his hands from her waist. Brushing it along her cheek and into her hair, he brought her face to his. Then, he slowly minted their lips together, giving her a more confident kiss then the one of a few moments before.
"Now, the problem is solved."
A smile tugged his lips up and he pulled Nina closer to him. Finally, he felt like he was where he needed to be. She felt so perfectly into his arms and into his life in general. And it was then and there, in the middle of the Yule Ball, that he realized this was the girl he was going to marry. He didn't even need his Sight to tell him that. He just knew, deep down.

There really was no way that the Hufflepuff girl could really know what had taken over her body and her mind. It seemed they were teaming up to either ruin her or allow her to win what she really, really wanted. She wanted Aidan, in all forms and ways, she loved him. But despite the fact that she loved him with everything she had it still wasn't like her to take the lead and allow their first kiss to happen. When it came to such things like that she was shy which was why she probably had never really allowed herself to show her true feelings for Aidan.
Now in the dark corner of the dance floor, Nina was only aware of Aidan. It was almost as if the minute that their lips had touched everyone else vanished. Sure Nina had seen such things in movies but never had she experienced it. It was weird, but yet she didn't want to let that feeling go, ever.
And then, as if something had clicked with Aidan as well, she felt his hand upon her face and their lips lock once more. This time with a more meaningful and passionate kiss. Nina could feel her heart leaping for joy and she wrapped her arms around the back of his neck, trying to clue him to her body so she never had to let go and the kiss could go on forever. Much to quickly though the kiss ended. Disappointment rushed across Nina's face, though it never touched the smile that seemed to be etched on permanetly. "That problem may be solved, but I think theres another one that you're going to be facing," she said mysteriously.

She had shaped him just by being in his life. And now, he was going to have her in his future. Aidan could scarcely believe that his wants and wishes were coming true. That Nina Hill was swaying in his arms at the Yule Ball. That she had kissed him. That he had kissed her. It was as if his life was finally coming together. He couldn't think of anything more perfect. He and Nina would be together until they finished Hogwarts. Then they were get engaged and both would get good jobs. And then, they would get married and move into a nice house outside of Dublin. And finally, after maybe a year they would have a set of twins. The grin across his face brightened even more and he looked down at her. Happy beyond a doubt at this turn of events. He hummed at her words, barely taking them in. Another problem, he didn't have problems. Everything was going swimmingly.
"Are you still coming to our house for Christmas?"
He couldn't wait for it. The vacations were his favorite times of the year. It was then that he got to spend time with Nina and have nothing else in the way. This year it might be a bit different. They were more than just friends now. Maybe she wouldn't want to stay with them, seeing it as a scandal. He sorely hoped not. Aidan planned on finally telling her about his Sight.

It was weird for Nina to feel so happy, so elated, it seemed like nothing could touch her or ruin the happiness. For once, she even felt like she could finally face her father, of course if she ever decided upon visiting him she would take Aidan with her. She would need the moral support from him and she would him next to her. From the moment that their lips touched, Nina didn't want to ever be without him. She wanted to spend the rest of her life with him, she wanted to love him with everything she had, which she pretty much already did but she wanted to be with him in every way possible.
Happiness barely ever came to Nina. Thinking about she began to realize the only times she was truly happy was whenever her and Aidan where together. The two were like a duo, they were usually together or planning to do something together. It had always been like that and now it was just going to get better. And of course, all their friends would be elated that the two finally came to their senses.
Looking upon Aidan, she had the feeling of wanting to wisk him away from everyones sight and just keep him to herself. She wanted so bad for the two to be able to curl up by a fireplace and just hold each other. How perfect that would be.
Just recently Nina had discovered she had an Aunt. Her Aunt wanted to be her guardian from then on but Nina wasn't so sure she wanted that. She was happy with the Boots. She was happy with her family because they were her family and someday she knew they really would be her family. A smile once again spread across her face with that thought. She so much wanted to be Nina Rose-Lee Boot. It just seemed, well right. After turning her Aunt down for the offer Nina had felt bad. The reunion of the two was great but Nina knew where she belonged.
She had not yet got the chance to talk to Aidan and see if he would still want her to spend Christmas with him and still live at their house. She knew that his parents wouldn't mind it at all but she felt like she had to run it by him now with them being together. "Well, I was hoping to, Christmas should be spent with family and I want to be with you," she said unsure if she was going to bring up the rest or not. But she couldn't help it, she needed to know now. "I was also kind of hoping that, well, that I could just stay living with you instead of my Aunt," she spit out quietly.
