He couldn't believe it. Right there, in front of his face, Rose Swan. Only, apparently, she went by Knight now. He would have to ask about that. There was no reason why she wouldn't tell him, right? Of course, he knew that now was not the right time. Now, they could enjoy each other's company and have fun at the Ball. Later they would have the in depth conversations that would be needed. He smiled, or rather beamed. This was going to be a great night. An other childhood friend come to Hogwarts. And to think she was in his own house and year. He couldn't wait to see Petra's face. No, that was wrong. He couldn't use Rose like that, he wasn't some Slytherin. Rose was deserved better than that. She was his oldest friend. "Of course I like different, you look different. It's been hell, seven years?"He laughed. His Rosie was here. The Princess to his Knight, in all their games. Bella used to get mad at having to always be the Dragon. But, then she even said she was good at it. Did his parents know that she was? The thought randomly formed in his head. Maybe that was why they were pushing him to get a girlfriend. Rose Swan, eh Knight, would have met their expectations to a tee. At least he assumed she would if her sister was considered such a prize.

Rose couldn't believe her eyes, nor her mind. Could it really be Trevent le Fay in front of her? It had to be. It was just so amazing to see him. He had always been.... well, hers. She had always gotton jealous around other girls, and at times, she could even be protective over him, and vice versa. Trevent and her sister had been everything to her. Too see him now, so handsome, and grown up, was like a dream. Many a nights Rose had dreamt about seeing him again, although, she had given up on that. She had always thought that she would never see him again, and she was wrong. Trevent had been her childhood love, her knight that rescued her from the tower, the one that risked it all just to get to her. Why didn't she look for him harder? Rose had always wanted to, but after a while, all her hope had vanished. But here she was, with him at Hogwarts, in a dream. Maybe he would be her knight in shining armor again. Maybe he would wisk her off of her feet. If not in a romantic way, as she had wished for as a young girl, then just in a friendly way. Trevent changed everything right at this moment. She was not the new girl who knew no one. She was herself again. Sitting here, next to Trevent, Rose was Rose and now had part of what she needed back. There was one more thing that would make everything perfect. And that was Bella realizing that they were sisters. Trevent knew now, but how was she going to break it to Bella? It would take some time, But having him for now, was definetly fine. She could last with Trevent and not her sister for a while. Rose knew that things would all fall into place eventually.
"Of course I like different, you look different. It's been hell, seven years?"
Hearing his voice again was such a luxury. She looked at every little aspect of his face, burning every little detail into her mind. "It feels like its been longer than that... You look great by the way. And, I kind of feel weird asking you this, but what do you think of the blonde hair? Your the only one here that knew me before I had it. Does it at least look good?" Rose giggled at herself. She couldn't believe after just being reuntied with him, that she was already so comfortable.

He knew that Bella and him were no where near as close as they used to be. In fact, it was his fault. Well, underneath it all. He was the one that refused to remain her friend after that one time. How she could use her powers on him was beyond his grasp, even now. Rose never did, nor did Trevent believe she ever would. She wasn't tainted from within like Bella. Rose, his childhood angel, was a blond now. While it didn't look terrible on her, in fact it looked perfect, fitting, angelic and pure, it was a fair cry from the dark hair of the rest of her family. If they hadn't grown up so close, he would never have known it was her. Amazing what a slight change in appearances did for people. He smiled at her. Catching the flaw in her statement. Bella knew her before as well. He wasn't the only one. And it was just like her to keep this a secret from him. "Rose,"' He chuckled, "There is no doubt that you look amusing. No doubt about it. Always have, always will. The blond does fit you better, I have to say. But, surely Isabella would have told you something negative about it. I'd ignore her. Actually, I usually do that anyway. Punch?"Without even asking for permission, he placed his hand on her lower back. It wasn't meant to be seen as prick to Petra, just how comfortable he was with his old friend. Guiding her to the refreshments, he saw Petra storm out. A sigh fell from his lips and he shook his head. Girls. The only one that he felt truly safe with was Rose. And now he had her back in his life. Not even his friendship with Petra compared to what was between Rose and him. And he was not looking forward to what was sure to be a jealous reaction from her. Rose and Petra were both sort of possessive. This was just what he needed added into his life. But, if it was the price to have Rose back again. Perhaps he would gamble it.

While waiting for Trevent's reply, Rose felt his hand on her lower back. If it were anyone else, Rose would have cared. She would've said something, but this was not just anyone. This was her "knight in shining armor." She couldn't help the happiness swelling up inside of her, the pure joy of having him with her again.
"Rose,"' He chuckled, "There is no doubt that you look amusing. No doubt about it. Always have, always will. The blond does fit you better, I have to say. But, surely Isabella would have told you something negative about it. I'd ignore her. Actually, I usually do that anyway. Punch?"
Standing as Trevent lead her to the refreshments, Rose nodded sighed. He liked the blonde hair, and as usual was joking about her looking "amusing". That was normal. But then, there was Bella.
"You shouldn't talk. You've always been more funny looking than I have. Bella didn't say anything about the blonde hair yet.... but......" She cleared her throat. How was she going to tell him this?
"Bella doesn't know... About me. She has no idea who I am. She thinks I'm just another girl, at least, I think that's how she sees me. Not long ago, I jumped into the Black Lake and got caught by the Giant Squid. Bella jumped in and saved me. It was her and Keaton. Keaton Flint." She cocked her head towards Keaton. Rose knew she could trust Trevent, with telling him about Bella. But, for some strange reason, she still felt uneasy about it. Well, maybe he could help her figure out a way to talk to Bella, and get her to believe it. It would take a lot, and Rose knew that, being stubborness runs in the family. At least she had Trevent by her side. Someone who could help take care of her and protect her. Maybe she wouldn't feel so alone and vulnerable anymore. Rose sort of smiled at the thought. "My Trevent." (she thought)

Trevent wasn't too sure how to respond. Sure, he had been shocked to learn that the new girl, the new Rose, in Gryffindor was his own childhood Rosie. But, he recognized her, didn't he? It had taken a while, since it had been years. And time as well as the hair color had changed her appearance. It just seemed unnatural that someone wouldn't recognize their own twin. Trevent was sure that if he had a twin, he would know them. He knew his brother, as well as one could expect for him too being they were complete opposites. Yet, Bella had saved Rose from the Squid. What the crazy girl had been doing in the Lake was beyond Trevent. This whole event was beyond Trevent. And he frowned slightly. Flint wasn't known for being selfless. Through it had been noted that since his engagement to Danielle Wood, he had mellowed a bit. "It can't be that she doesn't know who you are. She's got to. I know Isabella is a pain in the arse and all, but still. She saved you. This whole situation is just odd. Soon, not now, but soon, you will have to sit down and explain things to me."He lost his train of thought. Petra had run from the Ball. He always knew where she was in a room. He was constantly aware of her actions and movements. He hoped she didn't expect him to follow. He wasn't going to. His frown deepened. Was this to be a night that ended in a drunken stupor? Trevent wasn't a heavy drinker, nor did he drink often. But now, he felt the need for one. Something strong. The punch in his hand was not meeting this requirement. He cleared his mind and focused once more on the pretty blond before him. This was a girl that he could trust. Petra was not. Rose could be everything he needed. If her twin sister met his parent's guidelines for perfect bride, then Rose surely would as well. She wasn't evil or tainted with lustful dreams of lofty power like Bella. Or she hadn't been before. He didn't know the young woman before him anymore. All he had left were memories of a little girl. Perhaps it was time to address that. And Petra could deal with it. Because no one had more right to Trevent's attention then Rose Swan, eh Knight.

Rose looked into Trevents eyes. For some reason, she wasn't doubtful of him. At all. She thought that he was the same as ever. But she could be wrong. Everyone changes. She did. Maybe not by that much, but she did. Hopefully, Trevent was inside as loveable and sweet and friendly and charming as ever.
"It can't be that she doesn't know who you are. She's got to. I know Isabella is a pain in the arse and all, but still. She saved you. This whole situation is just odd. Soon, not now, but soon, you will have to sit down and explain things to me."
This, she already knew. But Isabella did not remember her. She knew that, she had a feeling. After all, that was her sister, she knew her better than anyone. Or at least, she was supposed to. And the incident with the giant squid was just strange. Rose had just been going for a swim, and got caught by it. Isabella jumped in to save her. Maybe she had that feeling.... The one that both of them had before something bad happened to the other. They both got it the day before they were separated.
"Trevent, I know it's confusing. I think even I'm confused by all of this. I mean, I was only going into the lake for a swim. Isabella never could've known without what I have come to call, our sixth sense. For some reason, whenever something bad happens to the other one of us, we get a bad feeling. She just.... knew. I'm not sure how she didn't recognize me, but I need to sit down and talk to her. Maybe you could help me. I'm not trying to pressure you to get in the middle, and if you don't want to, you don't have to."
Rose noticed Trevent looking around. For what? Maybe it had something to do with that Petra girl that just stormed out. Rose wondered what their relationship was. Petra had introduced herself before, and she had seemed very sweet.... Leaning in, she saw him looking at the spot where she had just been.
"Who is she?" Rose smiled. Did he have a crush on Petra? Or was it just a friendship thing?

He would have done anything she ever asked of him. Without question, without fail. Well, almost anything, but he didn't think Rose would request something that went against his morals. He would defend her from anything and anyone. This included the hurt her sister was extending by blocking out who Rose was. He would find a way to fix it, to show prissy Bella that Rose was her sister. Trevent would never fully know if Rose's Veela charm affected him, but he knew that she was nothing like the sister she wanted so much to get back on terms with. The look in her eyes showed him how much more she wanted to be accepted by Bella then she let on. He almost pulled her into a hug, intending on pledging his self to her. But then he had seen Petra and semi froze. Rose wasn't stupid, she had noticed. The smile on her face along with the question made him realize this could get nasty. He didn't know to whom his loyalties should belong and it hurt him. Quickly, he just decided to tell Rose the truth. She could do with it what she pleased, and in doing so, Trevent wasn't choosing sides. He hoped. "Eh, that's eh, well, Petra Conner." Knowing she meant more than just the name, he slipped into a chair, motioning for Rose to do the same. "Everyone pretty much knows that Petra and I are, eh were, a thing. We dated back in my 4th year for a while. Then, I dumped her, and we remained best friends. Recently, her and her boyfriend broke up and she came to me. I don't know if it was as a rebound because she knew how I felt or if she really did care about me. Regardless, there was a big scene and we haven't really spoken since."He waited as his words hit Rose. He would judge how different she was on her reaction. And surely, she would know that she, Rose, would always place above Petra. He had grown up with Rose, had been potty trained with her, had learned to read with her. Nothing could replace her. While Bella and him at that playful, hate-laced loyalty, Rose had his childhood love. Petra might have been his first love at Hogwarts and best friend. Some how, he wasn't sure who the balance tipped for and if they were even on the same level. Could one compare them?

It seemed as though her question somewhat hit Trevent at a weird angle.
Regardless, there was a big scene and we haven't really spoken since."
Oh.... That's sad that they haven't spoken.... I wonder what she did. Rose thought. She wasn't really that jealous. Petra didn't seem to be that big a deal. And it was only natural. After all this time, of course Trevent had made new friends and had new love intrests that were not herself. She had. It was only fair that he be allowed his own life away from her as well. He didn't seem to be too upset about it, but something about what she asked seemed to put him on edge. Was he worried? Was there more to be desired than what he told her? No... He wouldn't lie to me like that... Rose just looked at the spot where Petra had just been and then looked back at Trevent. She decided maybe it was better off for her to change the subject. "Okay. If you guys really are good friends, than I hope you don't keep fighting. That would be a shame." She smiled and sipped her drink. It wasn't bad. She sighed and tried to think of another subject to bring the conversation to. "What have you been up to recently anyway? Any thoughts about what you want to do after Hogwarts or anything like that?" Rose asked. Sure, she was curious about these things. This would probably help tell her how much Trevent had changed vs how much he had not changed. Her goals and ambitions weren't that different from what they had been. Although, being a princess locked in a tower awaiting her knight in shining armor wasn't at the top of her priority list at the moment....

His thoughts burned with more than his usual, faint amount of curiosity. He wasn't even sure how to respond to her renewed pretense in his life. Did she expect him to continue where they had left off as young children? Did he even know how to do that? Trevent had grown as was natural, grown in both mind and body. And as such, no one could hold him to any childhood promises. Maybe, had she remained in his life these past seven years, he would have had no problem. But as it was, he did not believe that he could just flit back into their relationship. No matter how much he wished it so. Petra was one example of that. Her place in his heart was different than Rose's. As his friend, Rose would come first. As always. But, when it came to who he loved, he was not exactly sure how that would fall out. The feelings he had for the young woman at his side were murky, indistinguishable. Over time, they would clear up. But not if Petra was the key point in his life. He almost sighed, he needed to get the fuck over that girl. Nodding in time with Rose's response, he was relieved when she changed the subject. Her new topic was something he could at least answer fully.
"Well, currently I'm attending Hogwarts, raiding the kitchens, avoiding my parents' wishes, and trying to be a dashing young wizard." He smiled slightly down at her. Humor vanishing at his next words, suddenly completely serious. "As for the future, I have no idea. Maybe an animal healer, perhaps. I just know that I don't want what my parents want for me."
Trevent wasn't sure where Rose stood on the whole war looming, choosing sides thing. But, he was proud of his choice and made it very well known. It had been an accepted fact that one day he would be on different sides than many of his classmates. His silent wish was that he just didn't have to kill one of his friends. Trevent was scared to know who would be on the other side at the end. He already wasn't certain which side his little brother would end up on. And that thought chilled his bones.

At Trevent's response, Rose couldn't help but shake her head and laugh. A rebel, as always. At least that was one thing she knew hadn't changed about him. Rose was so confused at the moment..... What was going to happen between her and Trevent? Were they going to just pick up where they left off? No. That wouldn't work. They had their own separate lives now. Rose had been through and seen a lot more than she ever had as a child. And maybe so had Trevent. Secretly, she prayed that Trevent hadn't had to ever go through the kind of pain she did at that time. But things were truly different now. She couldn't keep looking back. She had to look at what was right in front of her. The only problem with that was, right in front of her was her past. After this, I'll focus more on the present. But right now, I can stay in the past. I mean, look at who's in front of me! Rose sighed. "An animal healer? Interesting. What is it your parents want you to do, that you seem so keen on rebelling against?"]Rose asked with a smile. She couldn't help but wonder... What could his parents want from him that would be so bad? Whatever it was, she was sure it wasn't something stupid. Trevent wasn't like that. Or at least, that's what she thought.

She had the same kind of family he did. Or at least her dad was like that. How could she not know what was happening in Britain? Trevent was completely stumped. Rose, even if she was as clueless about the war as she seemed, had to know that his family was dark. They were proud to trace their roots back to Morgan le Fay. That he had no taste for it, nor for claiming the wicked ancestresses, disappointed them. They wanted him to chose a side and a future that would help the family's cause with the Dark Lord. It was something that he was going to do as much as possible to avoid. Being an Animal Healer would be more positive and couldn't, in his opinion, side him with the Dark Arts.
"I have no taste for their pleasures nor will I ever. I will not declare for the Dark side."
Let her take that as she willed. He hoped that she wasn't leaning towards the dark side. Trevent would have to cut off anything with her. It would be too painful if he had to face her on the other side of a battle field or wand. He didn't know if he would be able to do it. His life was going to be hell once war was declared. Hopefully it would be a few more years, give him enough to actually get out on his own. His trust fund wouldn't be active until he finished Hogwarts. Even then, he didn't want to live on that money.

Rose kept looking at Trevent, still sort of confused. And then, he seemed as confused as her, as if there was some big secret that she wasn't in on. What's going on? Trevent now said something about the Dark side. Well, of course she knew that his family wasn't the nicest, and that back in the day, they had been on the dark side. But there was still a dark side? What did he mean? Was there some sort of war still going on in the magical community in Britian? As far as Rose knew, France had no part in whatever was going on here. She would've known if there was. But she needed to get to the bottom of this. People had mentioned things implying this before and Rose had wondered, so now, it was time for her to get answers. "Trevent, what are you talking about? The dark side? There's still one of those?"she said, beginning to worry. Obviously, Trevent was not on the dark side, and Rose had no intention of being on it either. There was only one slight problem. Bella. What if she was on the dark side and something happened? No... She forced herself not to think of that. It would be a worry meant for later when she had all the detail"Is there something going on here I don't know about?" She asked, hoping to get all the answers she was looking for, with just the one question. She leaned in closer, anxiously waiting for his reply.
