December. Christmas break. What the hell was Jay still hanging around the school for?
Jay was not sure the answer to that question, but he sure was not going to ponder it either. He was there regardless, perhaps his parents wanted to know that his big bro did on the holiday break, more so he assumed they just did not want to bother with him this year. After all sometimes it seemed liked kids where a pure accident, then why have two?
Jay was walking outside with black pants, and a long black winter jacket. A white shirt hidden underneath was likely not to be shown for a while as the cold air did effect this boy. His cold face showed it to with a slight rosy cheek that he did so desperately hate. ’Don’t show your weakness, son.’ his father had said once. It was not like he really had a choice, unless staying inside forever was an option…
He kicked the snow as he walked on the school grounds, watching snow fights but not participating, even after being pegged in the back with a few. He did not even turn around to see who had thrown it. Jay was indeed a bit sad, sad that he was alone at this time. Christmas was traditional a happy time of year. It did not help being fourteen either, yes his voice recently got deeper but that frog creeps up once in a while still.
Nothing worse then being an quirky boy other then a geek, and he was well on that way too. He signed up for the school newspaper that day, not that he did not have enough on his plate. He had taken up Marshal Arts in the summer. It was not really a secret, but he had not told his family it either, sometimes the best form of protection was not magical…
Thus he found a secluded spot finally, a lonely bench frostbitten and cold Jay looked around. A smirk on his face. A simple charm, the blasting charm, with a cool hint of subtleties. “Confringo Mimamus” he said with a quick flick of his wand, and it was soon tucked under his coat just as fast. The snow and ice melted from the bench and it was now warm. He took a seat and pulled out a book that was inside a coat pocket. “Numerology and Grammatica” it was a text for his Arithmancy class. It was confusing and took him a while to really grasp but was doing well in the subject. The cold air helped him keep his mind on track as it was a very complex set of numbers and charts. He seemed to be totally taken by the book, but was still keeping an eye out for a rouge snowball.

Words: 332PhysicalEmotionalNote: It's not up to par. I currently have the flu, but I had to do something. Trevent had been one of the people in the snowball fights. And yes, he had been thoroughly enjoying himself. Then, a familiar boy walked past. His brother, Jacob. Hoping to knock him out of the funk he had seemed to been in all holiday, Trevent threw a couple snowballs at him. Much to his shock, Jay ignored them. Now, what kind of Gryffindor was that? One that didn't really belong there. It still puzzled him to no end that his little brother, who was completely different in all possible ways, was in his house. He would have never guessed that Jay would have been sorted into Godric's house. Ravenclaw, sure, Slytherin, of course, Hufflepuff, no, Gryffindor, are you crazy? But, sure enough the boy had joined his brother and that had not been a pleasant conversation. Both sons in the wrong house, oh joy. Still, Trevent didn't understand Jay at all, but was fiercely protective of him. So, he left his friends and followed the younger le Fay. Trevent was not disappointed. Jay had melted the cold stone bench and was now reading a book. Instead of enjoying the snow and lack of school work, he was reading in a lonely distant area of the grounds. Jay was smart, smarter than Trevent. And it didn't really bother Trevent at all. He just wished that Jay would grow a bit of a backbone and see for his self how crazy his parents were. He loved them, completely and utterly, but they were definitely not on the same side. And it hurt Trevent to the core. One day, they were going to be on different sides of a war. He pushed that from his mind and focused once more on his brother. Trevent walked over, and sitting beside Jay, pushed the book down. A smile laced his lips. "Hey, you. Why don't you come out and play a little? I bet it'll be more fun than this book."

Note: Feel better, and I am till getting used to the site, and getting up-to-date on threads and info. So I am a bit lacking. Jay had not tried to be so, well gloomy. But it was a confusing time for him, wanting so much more, but still wanting to please his family, at times it did take a tool on him. Not to mention his increasing interest in a few of those girls in his ruins class. Sometimes he felt more like it was harder to be himself. Then again who really had anything figured out? Sure enough Trevent had came and found his desolate area. The cold air keeping his mind on track, of course until a hand took the book down. Jay knew who’s hand it was, if he hadn’t he had a slight instinct to peg the person in the face for touching his stuff. Then again he would have likely done nothing, all talk no game… “Snowball fight? What is next a snowman, too?” Weak. He immediately thought. It was hard to be a tough guy to your older brother, for some reason it never seemed to work, more so you just come off as a jerk. It did look fun though, in fact it would be nice to let loose, and take in that fun time of the year. “Though, A talking snowman would be fun.”[/url] Great I sound like a baby! his thoughts where that of any normal kid, well that is with magic. In his mind a giant snowman, singing carols would be funny and cute, but one thumping the grounds yelling madly would really be a hoot. His book was closed, and he really did not want to read it anymore, the numbers where driving his mind wacky. He was sure that he would be counting the rest of the day, a plague of the lessons and a very annoying habit.

And alas, he couldn't. Immediately he felt terrible. What kind of big brother was he? Apparently a horrible one. Really he didn't want to think of his brother as the enemy. He still had time to hopefully show Jay that his parents' ideas were outdated. Trevent was nothing if not persistent. Of course, while Jay and he had a rather odd relationship, they loved each other. And Trevent would do anything for Jay, anything. His little brother. He still remembered how excited he had been when the little smelly bundle that ended up being Jay came home. Regardless of his parents, Trevent had been extremely proud of Jacob for being sorted into Gryffindor. Like now, only his smart brother would think of something so grand as a talking Snowman. He pictured the laughs it would get, imagine if it told jokes?
"If you figure out the spell, I'll build it."
Trevent looked forward to fulfilling the offer. He loved the winter and snow and would enjoy the time with Jay. And of course, he fully believe that Jay would know the kind of spell it would take. His brother was smart like that. Smarter than Trevent when it came to books and magic. So, Trevent just couldn't understand how Jay didn't see the right and wrongs of the world. It completely eluted him.
