His stomach churned and wrenched as he noticed the Headmaster and his new father in law coming over to their group once more. He had just walked by, what could he want now? That was all Sirius could think of, completely ignoring everything around him as of the moment the headmaster left his empty drinking glass on the table. Why couldn’t he just keep drinking, and leave them alone? God, why couldn’t Sirius be drinking, and not in the way of the headmaster where he could easily be taken away from the large crowd and killed, which was exactly what he was afraid of right now. This night was just getting better and better. First her brother came to talk to them, and surprisingly he came to realize he was an okay guy. Then his sister came over, and she was definitely giving Kelsey the cold shoulder routine, which Sirius hated. Why couldn’t the two families just get along? It was like that old Romeo and Juliet story all over again… But hopefully without the suicides. When the headmaster stopped only a few feet short of where the four of them sat talking, and he felt Kelsey grabbing at him more tightly now. She was obviously just as nervous as and probably more scared than him. Sirius knew he should be the one to be more nervous when her father approached. After all he wouldn’t kill his little girl, but he would very easily try and kill Sirius. Obviously he should hate him; after all, Sirius had taken everything from him, and from his little girl for that matter. Everything that a father wishes would not happen until his baby girl was at least twenty five, or eighty five for that matter, had already been done. The only exception to that was thank god, as Anton had mentioned earlier, they were not expecting a new family arrival any time in the near future. Sirius pulled his hands around his wife’s small waist just a little tighter once more, trying to make her feel safer, more secure. Not that anything he could do right now would change that as soon as her father stopped and spoke to them all for the first time that evening; and at least to James for the first time since the wedding. Sirius wondered if perhaps Headmaster LeBlanc had wanted to go to their wedding, his daughters wedding… But then he thought better of it, no matter how much he might have wanted to be there for his daughter, he would not have wanted to go for the simple fact that it was a wedding to James Sirius Potter. Technically, Kelsey was no longer Kelsey LeBlanc; she was Kelsey Potter now, and for the rest of her life… But Sirius took his mind off that happy thought (or to the two of them it was a happy thought) and was brought back to attention. His father in law was now asking to speak with him, alone. He sounded… well, kind of angry, but there was something else there Sirius could not place. It was not anger, even though it thoroughly sounded like it. His face had another expression. Well, this had to be it. Either it would be the day that his father in law accepted their marriage or it would be the last day of James Sirius Potter’s young life. Personally, Sirius hoped it was the first one, but he was not willing to bet on it. Not with the harsh tones and uneasiness of the headmaster when he asked to speak with him alone. Kelsey had butted in, saying hello to her father in a kind of nervous, please don’t kill us, sort of way, and Sirius could not help but have to hold back a grin, but he did manage it. He was just as nervous as her, but he knew he had to go and talk with her father anyway. So he walked around to face her, instead of standing behind her, and leaned down for a moment so his lips were right by her ears. I love you, and everything will be fine. he told her with a momentary soft smile and a quick kiss on the cheek for reassurance. For him just as much as her. ”Where would you like to go talk, sir?” he asked, trying to be more respectful than usual (because Sirius really is not usually the most respectful of all teenagers… far from it really). Hopefully succeeding at it as well. He wanted to make whatever impression he had to to get her father to like him… Or hate him less… Even that would be a step up, right? Robert gave Kelsey a brief nod. Anger was burning in him, burning to get out. Robert just wanted to tear apart Potter limb by limb. He glared at Potter as he whispered something to Kelsey. Robert hoped he was saying goodbye because he wasn't afraid to go to Azkaban if he had to for ripping apart some kid. Things may not get that bad but, Robert knew he was going to explode. It was about time. He had been holding in all these emotions for a few weeks now and it was just about time they came out. Problem was, they all came out at once.
Robert didn't even waste time. He didn't say anything, just roughly grabbed Potter's shoulder and pushed him off into a corner. Robert let go, crossing his arms, blocking Potter from any sort of view of Kelsey. He stood there a few good long, silent moments, glaring. Robert imagined just burning painful holes into Potter's skull. It was a nice image just not enough to cool him off. "What the hell do you think you're doing?" he growled. Robert didn't even wait for any sort of answer. He kept his cold, angry glare right at Potter's eyes. "You don't marry my daughter without asking me for permission first. I don't give a shit if she's seventeen. I am still her father. I didn't give you permission. I'll tell you this - you are both too young to even understand marriage," he said.
Robert stopped there. He felt his hand curl into a fist. He just wanted to choke James or something, instill some sort of fear in him. Robert felt his face turning red with just pure rage knowing that the kid that took Kelsey away from him was standing right there. This was the kid that just ruined Robert's plan and need to repair what severed links he had to his children, especially Kelsey. The boy had ruined everything Robert had been working on. Everything. Robert hated James and wanted to return the favor by ruining everything for him.
ooc; sorry that's sort of blah & it took me so long

From the start James knew things were not going too well right now. Especially considering the first thing Kelsey's father did was grab his shoulder and shove him off into a corner and stand in front of him, arms crossed, standing right between him and Kelsey. God he hated his father in law already, but isn't that how it's supposed to be? Well, that was not exactly how he wanted it to be, because he wanted things in life to be a little simpler than that. Which is completely impossible obviously. James showed no fear and resisted rubbing his shoulder momentarily, at least being shoved had not bothered his bad knee, which not many people where aware he even had. Now Robert LeBlanc went off on a rant about how he did not ask permission from him before marrying his daughter. How he was furious about the whole ordeal, and how they were far to young to understand marriage. When he said that James just about started shouting back at him. He felt like saying: Excuse me, but who has the fucked up family? Not me, that's right. We have problems, sure. But I don't dread seeing my parents. I'm not afraid of my father. I love your daughter, so fuck you. Our marriage is for real. But instead of going off on a rant of his own, he thought better of it and held his tongue. For now. After all, if something happened to him, what would Kelsey do? Standing up straight once more, James could only kind of see Kelsey, Roula and Anton over the Headmasters shoulder. He had to think of a slightly respectful, but still very demeaning way to phrase what he was thinking and feeling. After all, Professor LeBlanc was complaining that he did not ask permission, but would he have ever been able to marry Kelsey if he had? Probably not. If he thought that was the case, he would have asked him formally first and had a formal wedding... Perhaps he should mention that? "Sir, will all do respect, if I had thought you would have given us your blessing I would have asked you before I asked her." Yes, that sounded like a decent start off. Now he had to let that sink into the Headmasters head before speaking again, while hoping he was not murdered before he could speak once more. He only waited a short moment before speaking again. "And if I may say so," -still trying to be respectful- "I love your daughter very much. I have for a while now and we know we want to be together forever. Nothing is going to change that. I promise you I will never hurt her. I would do anything for her. Now please, before you murder me, take her happiness into consideration?" Yes. He had said it. James said the one thing he thought might possibly get the Headmasters attention. He had to give that time to sink in as well, and hopefully if anything it had only postponed his death a few more minutes. Giving him a little more time to try and make peace between them. If not, well, James knew how to duel and he knew how to fight and if it came down to it, he would do anything to keep Kelsey in his arms forever. He could not stand to have what he just said to her to be the very last thing she remembered from him. He wanted to say something else, but what else was there to say? Nothing it seemed, so he had to hope that what he had just told him was enough to make his father in law realize that this was what was honestly best for his daughter. After all, who doesn't want their child happy? After this meeting, James knew he would get hell from his parents but he was no where near as worried as he had been before the dance. Robert stood with a very annoyed, irritated, angry expression. He knew all this crap James had just said. Robert didn't care. He remembered himself, just a few years older than James, telling his father-in-law these exact words. Look at where things are now? His children hate him, and he's cheated on his wive several times. He lied to her nearly all the time. Robert knew, he just felt that Mandy knew all this. Yet, they were still married. Robert still loved her but, their relationship was just not the same. This is what Robert wanted to prevent from happening to Kelsey.
The bottom line - Robert didn't like James, James didn't like Robert. He knew he should be happy for Kelsey and all that shit a father is suppose to feel. Robert just didn't feel any of it. It's not because he wanted to, or didn't care - he does deep down. The fact of the matter is that he wasn't there. There was one day out of Kelsey's life that Robert would absolutely refuse to miss, whether she liked it or not, and that was her wedding. He thought, that since they were on the road to recovery, even though they still had a long way to go, he just thought she would want him there like he wanted to be. Now, that wasn't possible. Sure, they could have a real ceremony with all that crap but, it wouldn't make it better. Only worse.
Robert let out a cynical chuckled, and rested his hand on James' shoulder, squeezing it slightly. "I'm not going to murder you - today," he said, low enough so only James would hear. He spoke in a deep, dark, threatening tone. "Don't think I'm not watching Potter. You've just ruined everything - the only thing I had left. The one thing I actually wanted to fix. You just shot that chance down. So, you better watch you step. If I see Kelsey with even watery eyes - I'm coming after you." Robert backed away a couple of steps, letting go of James' shoulder.
As Robert cleared his throat and straightened his robes. "I said the same things you did Potter at one time," he said, more louder so not only James could hear. "Look at where I am now. My family hates me." Robert was quite surprised with himself. He hadn't completely lost it. He felt his temper was at the boiling point. If Potter knew what was good for him, he wouldn't peep another word.
