* how could you be so , ( SO HEARTLESS ) -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- - Astoria Greengrass brushed a long blonde tress over her shoulders while two of her cerulean blue eyes pierced at her assistant. "I don't want no one disturbing me Stan. I don't care who it is or what they want, no one walks into this office after you leave. I'm busy." Smoothing out her winter white blouse that accented her sun kissed skin and bright eyes as she stood up, she took the cup of coffee that her assistant held between his two hands. "Oh, I almost forgot." Rolling her eyes ever so slightly as she placed her cup of coffee onto the table and returned to her former position, sitting behind her desk, "My sketches, have you seen them?" Typical of her. Abandoning her work and then misplacing them, it still amazed her how she was maintaining her job and was able to run the business. A quick summoning spell had done the job. She smirked at the very sight of the book, "Okay that is all Stan. You can leave now." Astoria pointed her index finger towards the door, signalling the man to make his exit.
“…Mrs Malfoy?”
Her fingers applied pressure onto the pages of the sketch book as her lids had closed over her eyes. Sheer dumb luck. “Stan, we’ve went over this before. It’s Miss Greengrass.” The woman corrected the younger male, who hesitantly approached her with a sealed enveloped. Arching a thin, shaped eyebrow, her crystal blue eyes scanned over it. The Malfoy crest sealed the envelope. Seeing the familiar crest that was once her own, resulted in the fluttering of her heart. It wasn’t often she received a letter from the Malfoy’s, ever since the divorce of course. Reaching out for the envelope, once it was in her grasp, she took it from Stan’s grip and examined it, almost as if she was afraid to open it. “You can leave now.” Her voice was much softer than moments before, the letter clearly knocking her off guard.
After her assistants exit and once opening the envelope for her eyes to scan over, Astoria Greengrass was on her feet immediately. Occasionally she would receive the odd letter from Draco, just to see how one another was keeping, but this letter held great importance. The topic was mainly of their son, Scorpious, who was to be married. Even the thought of it made her stomach weak. This was madness. This, was the work of Lucius Malfoy, wasn’t it obvious. Who was he to decide her child’s future? Anger flared through Astoria as she re-read the letter once again, making sure she grasped ever single detail.
Miss Greengrass had left her workplace early, finding herself too distracted to work, to distracted to do anything until she reached the bottom of the situation. Cursing under her breath, she knocked on the Malfoy Manor’s door twice before a house-elf unlocked the door, “Miss Greengrass?” Astoria had even caught the Elf of guard as a dumbfounded look swept over it’s features, “I’m here to see Lucius, Narcissa, Scorpious, whoever is in this bloody household.” The blonde fumed at the house elf before making her way into the entrance of the Manor.
“Lucius? Scorpious? Whoever the hell is here!”
Her voice was loud, almost booming. If one thing was clear, the former Mrs Malfoy was not one ounce pleased with the decision making that had been going on.

Scorpius would have rather been out at the Seven Sins or fooling around with a meaningless girl at the moment, but instead he was studying in his bedroom. It truly was pointless; he had studies these spells dozens of times, and could practically rehearse the whole book to someone. But his grandfather insisted that he stay in his room to study, the concept of Scorpius expanding his knowledge on dark magic always on Lucius’ mind. But he doubted his grandfather wanted him downstairs, considering he had overheard Lucius and Narcissa discussing his future. They both knew that Scorpius would do as they asked but was reluctant towards completing their wishes, which was most likely why they preferred for him to be far away from their conversation.
Scorpius had never been that close with either of his parents. Once the divorce had occurred, he had moved in with his grandparents. Lucius had given him reasonable motives for why Scorpius should dislike his father, Scorpius still questioning these reasons, but Lucius had never really given him reason to hate his mother. Thus, it appeared that Scorpius was closer to his mother. He hadn’t really been given the choice to when and who to he would get married, but he had been given the impression that upholding the Malfoy’s status, giving their history, was important. The pressure was sometimes a heavy weight he had to carry, but he had grown used to this and was willing to make Lucius proud. However, he had no clue as to how he would keep a relationship with one girl going; most knew he had never been one to carry on long term relationships and preferred to quickly move from one to other.
As Scorpius, clearly bored, reviewed the book of harmful spells, the sound of angry yelling came from downstairs. “Lucius? Scorpius? Whoever the hell is here!” The familiar voice was rather loud and was similar to his mother’s. A curious Scorpius stood from his desk, happy to escape this boredom, and sauntered out of his room. He walked a couple of steps down the long staircase, staring at a fuming blonde. His expression was that of a young boy who finally got to see their mother after she had gone on a very long vacation. “Mom?” He beamed, surprised by her presence. But he realized that she was mad over something, which was probably the cause of her being here. “What are you doing here?” He asked curiously, quirking an eyebrow in question.

Obviously Lucius cared for his grandson, but he also looked at him as an opportunity as well. He often used Scorpius to his advantage and it occurred to Lucius quite a while ago that Scorpius could better help heal the negative history of the Malfoy’s. When the battle with Lord Voldemort had taken place and Lucius had been used for the former dark lord’s amusement, he had been more than embarrassed. And when his son’s divorce had happened, things looked as if they would continue to go downhill. But Lucius had made new alterations which helped their reputation, and with Scorpius here, why not use his grandson to their family’s benefit? Besides, if Scorpius was elsewhere, for example living with his father, Scorpius would look to Draco for guidance and would end up making the same stupid decisions Draco had made as a teenager. And if Astoria had raised him, Lucius could imagine Scorpius being soft and emotional. Lucius thought he was doing an excellent job of raising his grandson despite the thoughts of many others.
Lucius raised both eyebrows at Narcissa and was surprised that she had even decided to speak. His wife usually agreed to his ethnics and was very quiet. He barely heard her conflict and had not expected her to protest against his tactics. “So what if he has to kill a few people?” Lucius asked Narcissa. His tone indicated that he was not at all pleased at Narcissa for disagreeing with him. Before she could object again, Lucius cut her short. “We discussed this when Bellatrix accepted him – this is old news. Besides, he’s already had the experience.” Lucius shrugged and let his cold eyes wander upon the ground. He had only brought up that fact for Narcissa to realize her place. He assumed she was glaring at him, but Narcissa was Bellatrix’s sister: of course she had to have had an idea for what their grandson had done for Bellatrix to allow him to join the Death Eaters. With his last comment, something that Narcissa seemed upset and a bit surprised by, he had ended the conversation and dismissed all of her tactics. The two had been sitting at the dining room table, discussing issues having to do with Scorpius.
He stood up when he heard the loud knocking on the door and curled his fingers into a fist when the yelling took place. Why was Astoria here? He hated when events were unplanned for, and even if he had gotten the chance to plan out things, he would not have invited her. Lucius quickly walked to the door and his eyes were narrowed into thin slits. He looked up to see his grandson standing on the staircase, smiling childishly. He shook his disappointedly, moving his attention back to Astoria. He glared at her and sneered. “What the hell do you want?” He asked menacingly, truly confused, and perturbed, for why she had barged into their house so angrily.

the best lies are told with fingers tied,,''so cross them tight,,The last time Draco had been to Malfoy Manor was... well, a long time. Maybe a year or two. Not long enough. But he knew that he had to talk to his father about Scorpius. What he was doing wasn't right. And of course, Draco knew what he was doing. His aunt had told him everything. EVERYTHING. Draco, obviously, didn't approve. The thought just made him growl. He didn't know if anything would ever fix the damage between him and his son, most done by Lucius himself, but Draco was going to go to the ends of the earth to try.
Entering the familiar house by the back door, he nodded to a lone house elf and casually helped himself to some water. Draco could hear his parents arguing over something. Scorpius, no doubt. Well good, his father was already on the subject, he better hope he was prepared to talk about his grandson all night. If that's how long it took. He heard the word killed and he damn near broke the glass he was holding in his hand. Merlin kill that man. That was the one thing Draco didn't want for his son. Draco knew the feeling of killing someone. And while the victory, the triumph felt amazing, it didn't last long. And it left you feeling like the lowest thing on earth.
Then, he heard a loud, familiar voice. Astoria? Oh. Uh-oh. She must have gotten his letter. Well, he should've expected her to come storming to the culprits house. The thought made him chuckle slightly. Yeah, he still knew her, and it was funny. Finally setting the glass down, he walked out of the kitchen, catching a glimpse of Scorpius on the stairs. Spotting his father as well, he could hardly contain the growl. "I don't think you should be so rude to the mother of your insurance policy." he sneered. Ahh, home sweet home.

* how could you be so , ( SO HEARTLESS ) -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- - Her cheek’s flushed and with her fists clenched, Astoria’s eyes examined the interior of the grand household absentmindedly. It was grand and elegant, a manor anyone could only dream to enter, but for Astoria the manor haunted her, continuously reminding her of her failed marriage and her son who had decided to live with in the manor permanently. “Mom?” The voice broke the woman from her thoughts, and immediately she averted her eyes to the top of the staircase, “Scorpious,” A small smile broke onto the witch’s face as her eyes fixed upon her son, “I came for a visit.” Torie announced, tilting her head to the side slightly, “Come down,”
Trailing her fingers through her silky, curly hair, she allowed a soft sigh to escape her lips. ‘What the hell do you want?’ The familiar voice snared at her. Whipping her head in Lucius Malfoy’s direction, her lip curled into a sneer. It was hard to believe there once was a time that Lucius Malfoy was respectful towards her, the mother of the boy he was depending on so much. What the hell was he thinking persuading Scorpius to enter into an arranged marriage? Hadn’t he learned from his mistakes in the past? Astoria refused to stand by and allow her son to be forced into something that might not necessarily want.
Draco then exited from the kitchen and caught Astoria’s attention, "I don't think you should be so rude to the mother of your insurance policy." Her ex-husband growled at his father and Astoria couldn’t help but feel more reassured with Draco there, “Exactly. When did your manners leave you Lucius?” The witch asked, arching an eyebrow curiously. “And to answer your question, I want the same thing as you. My son. I’m not letting you twist his mind like you did with Draco, therefore I’m taking him with me.” Torie glared at Lucius, silently challenging him.

the best lies are told with fingers tied,,''so cross them tight,,This entire thing was turning into a giant mess. Now, here was Astoria, whipping out commands like she owned the place. Though, Draco wasn't too concerned with that. She was pretty much stating that she was taking Scorpius with her. Though, Draco was pretty sure his son was brainwashed to the point where leaving wouldn't be possible. He might think he would die or something if he stepped outside and breathed fresh air. He subconsciously growled at that thought and stared at his father through narrow eyes.
But he had to keep his wits about him. Years in this house had taught him that, if it had taught him anything. "Torie, just... wait." he said, using her nickname. Which... kind of made him shiver. The familiarity of it was weird and unexpected. Shaking his head slightly, he ran a hand through his hair and thought hard for a moment. Just by telling her to wait, he was defying everything that she was here for. Which wasn't what he was trying to do.
Draco could relate to his son in more ways than he thought. Looks were one thing, but Scorpius was growing up just the way he did. Controlled. And Draco didn't want that to happen to his son. So, he was going to try his best to give him something that he knew his father never granted him. Looking up the stairs, Draco stared at his son, trying to get rid of the desperation in his own eyes. "Scorpius, what do you want to do?" he asked.

Lucius was hiding the fact that he was caught off guard when he saw his son enter the house. He arched an eyebrow at his son and a small, vindictive smirk began to grow on his lips. “And is that anyway to speak to your father? The man who raised you despite your being an insecure coward?” Lucius, in spite of him not finding the situation amusing, laughed at Astoria’s remark as his gaze moved from her to Draco. “My manners? Are you two not the ones that have, clearly unplanned, barged into my house?” He scoffed. “And I did not twist Draco’s mind. I simply tried to guide him, but because he was so dim-witted, he couldn’t complete easy tasks like having a wife and raising a son.” He looked at Draco blamefully, but his attention returned to Astoria as she went on. Lucius looked at her as if she were insane when she announced that she would be taking his grandson. “That’s not up to you Astoria – I am Scorpius’ legal guardian, so what makes you think you can just take him?”
Lucius was surprised when Draco asked for Scorpius’ opinion. He looked at his grandson apologetically and realized that this decision would be difficult for him. He obviously wanted to appear as the protagonist and quickly thought of something to say that would make him seem more concerned. “Look at you two, bombarding my poor grandson with all of this decision-making.” He said accusingly; nevertheless, Scorpius would have to choose. “But I’m afraid you’re parents want you to chose. But before you do, let me remind you of a few things.” He, momentarily, looked at Astoria and returned the same challenging look she had once had. Moving his attention back to Scorpius, he continued. “When you were a child, I was claimed responsible for you by the courts. Obviously, your parents protested, but they couldn’t fight what had been decided. They continued to fight but it didn’t work out in their favour, so eventually they gave up.” Lucius had to make an attempt when it came to not smirking slyly. “Now, I’m sure that they have put a small effort in trying to convince you to come live with them, and it’s clear because if they had tried harder, your mother wouldn’t have barged in here so expectant of you agreeing to go with her.” He paused, allowing for his grandson to take in what he was saying. “The two could have gained some sort of influence over you and tried to take you over the past seventeen years, but they didn’t. Don’t you think it’s rather odd that they’re trying now, after seventeen years? ” Lucius raised both his eyebrows at Scorpius, as if to imply that living with his mother and father was madness.
Lucius was very happy with his previous observation and thought of himself highly for that. “And, of course, if you do choose your parents over me, you’ll have to choose between them as well.” Lucius added shrewdly, another reminder for his grandson. “But, I’m sorry to say that it is mandatory for you to make a decision. So what shall it be Scorpius?” Lucius asked, raising his eyebrows expectedly at Scorpius.

For once in Scorpius’ life, he despised being the centre of attention. It was clear that his next statement would be the highlight of the situation, and he had no idea as to how he would respond. He had followed Astoria’s instructions and stepped down to where the argument was taking place, but he secretly wished he had listened to Lucius and stayed in his room. Scorpius would have rather been feeling bored and jaded compared to being involved in his family’s dispute. He ignored the arguing but found it amazing that whenever one of his parents entered a room with Lucius, all which resulted from each of them was hate towards the other. His mother’s next comment, however, grabbed his attention fully. He wouldn’t have minded living with his mother, maybe even with his father, but that would conclude to Lucius hating him as well. Scorpius couldn’t allow that, but was clueless towards how he would protest against his mother. He listened as Draco stopped her and was even more surprised when Draco questioned him. He doubted that he had ever felt so much gratitude for his father in his life and didn’t bother repressing this. He looked up towards Draco, the expression upon his face implying that he was silently thanking his father.
Scorpius tried to quickly think of what he actually did want. He had never been a fan of switching homes and hated the idea of constant change, but that left each of his parents and Lucius at least fairly pleased. He, however, was still slightly afraid towards how Lucius would react if he suggested that. It didn’t make much sense but Scorpius, despite him sometimes feeling confused, felt comfortable in the position he was in. He sometimes pondered further into the situation and realized it was due to the fact that he hadn’t really been exposed to anything else. Before he could carry on his train of thought, Lucius began to speak. He stared at the floor as he listened to his grandfather. Yes, of course Scorpius found it somewhat strange that they had decided to come today, but he knew that they had made their attempts. When Scorpius had last seen Draco, his father hadn’t tried to persuade him into doing anything he didn’t want to do, but Draco had made an attempt in understanding the situation. That had to count for something, didn’t it? He nodded briefly as Lucius added the fact that he would most likely have to choose between Draco and Astoria if he chose to live with one of his parents. That was true, and Scorpius was clearly not keen towards this. His eyes wandered up to Lucius and he knew that Lucius was rooting for Scorpius to choose him when he raised his eyebrows so expectedly.
“Living with Lucius is good,” He muttered, his eyes moving back to the ground considering he was much too ashamed to look at Lucius. He knew Lucius would hold a grudge towards him and was mentally preparing himself for the yelling. “But I don’t mind alternating from each house.” He shrugged his shoulders idly; the thought wasn’t ideal, but he would soon finish from school and move in with whomever Lucius had selected, which would lead to the insanity being over. the best lies are told with fingers tied,,''so cross them tight,,This was absurd. His father was making it sound as if he and Astoria hadn't fought their way through the Ministry until the end. What else could they do? Kidnap him? Surely, that wouldn't have gone unnoticed. But Draco knew that he and his father were going to have to have a long, and aggravating chat about all this. "Barging in? Last time I checked, the deed to this house still has my name on it. I believe that makes it half mine." he sneered. When Lucius spoke to Astoria again, he could only bite his tongue, almost enough to bleed. "Legal guardian, my ass!" he yelled, becoming very angry now. "You are not his legal guardian! The courts said he could choose who he could live with but that is his mother!" he screamed pointing at Astoria. Draco was now nose to nose with Lucius with an anger that he hadn't felt in a long, long time. "And you are no substitute for a mother." he finished. But he knew that this wasn't over.
Draco would choose not to say anything about what Lucius said about waiting for seventeen years. There would be no point in fighting that. Lucius would twist those words no matter what he did. Even after ten years of fighting behind his fathers back, signing hundreds of papers that wouldn't even put a dent in this mess, Draco still continued to do something. He watched as Scorpius looked from mother to father to grandfather, obviously conflicted. He knew that it was wrong to put him on the spot like this, but a decision would have to be made. "He would not have to choose who to live with. Scorpius would live with his mother, of course. If I had a choice between mother and you, it would have been her, you heartless son of a bitch." Draco bursted. He just couldn't hold it in anymore. "Using your grandson for your own benefit. I would say that's beneath you, but I don't believe it is. It's no wonder that you failed the Dark Lord when he asked you to retrieve the Prophecy." he said loud enough for possibly the neighbors to hear.

* how could you be so , ( SO HEARTLESS ) -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- - Astoria knotted her fingers through her soft curls as she listened to Lucius Malfoy begin one of the inspiring speeches he was so talented at. “It was by persuasion and choice that Scorpious chose to live with you. You abused and manipulated the situation of our divorce, using it in your own way and by means, taking our son from his comfort zone. We where quite content Lucius, even the divorce didn’t seem to change much, but you had to make it so much worse, just what you’re good at.” The witch remained calm and collected, much more reassured now that Draco was there trying to state a point.
The blonde’s heart raced, her brows furrowed and her teeth grinded. He was accusing Draco and herself of being the culprits, turning their own son against them. However, Draco lost all control of his temper and moved inches from Lucius, reminding him of the obvious. Placing a hand on Draco’s shoulder, she looked at him with her cerulean blue eyes, silently mouthing the words, “Thank you,” As her previous husband defended her. “Your father’s right Scorpious, you could come live with me, and your father could visit regularly?” Astoria suggested, her eyes flickering to Draco and Scorpious. The two hadn’t had the strongest relationship over the years and Astoria put all the blame on Lucius for that, but it was never to late to fix a broken bridge. “It’s a win, win situation. I just think it’s time that your old enough to chose again, and hopefully you will come and live with me for a while?” Somewhere in her voice, there was a plead.
Her heart weakened at her son’s first few words, and for a moment her hope had dimmed. Was she really such a bad mother? Did her son no longer want anything to do with her? Torie refused to believe it. The smile on his face moments ago told her otherwise. It was what gave her hope that maybe Scorpious would return to his former home with her. “Alternating from each house?” She repeated raising an eyebrow, “I suppose that doesn’t sound too bad.” Turning to look at Lucius, she tilted her head “Lucius, lets be reasonable here. I know our unexpected visit has caused some mayhem, but please consider this idea.”
Draco’s outburst had somewhat surprised her, but nevertheless she believed Lucius deserved a little tongue in cheek after all these years of tormenting Draco. It was when her husband brought up the past that caused Astoria to wince, “Draco,” She stated quickly, taking his hand and attempting to slowly back him off his father, “Don’t make this any worse that it already is.” Torie whispered to him, hoping he would just leave it but the likely hood of that would be considerably low.

The woman heard noises from downstairs. They weren't good voices. Cissy had been up in her and Lucius' bedroom that day. She hadn't come out. She was too restless too. Too melancholy. Too defeated. Merlin knew why the woman felt so weak. She was reading a novel called The Mysteries of Magic by Earhart Thomas. She flicked through the page, trying her best to ignore the voices coming from down the stairs, yet she could not. She grumbled to herself. What was going on down there? She was determined to find out.
She put the book down on the bedside table, pulling herself up into a decent sitting position. She got up, rushing over to the mirror, trying to check for any minor problems with herself. She patted her blond hair. Turning away, she glided over to the wooden door. She pushed it open. It creaked. Lucius had to get that fixed or the whole house would begin creaking within a blink. The house had it's mysteries. She walked down the hallway, sighing to herself. Could this day get any more restless to her? She placed her fragile hand on the wooden rail connected to the stairway. She looked down. It seemed to be.. could it be? Astoria Greengrass' voice. That couldn't be good.
She simply walked down the steps that led into another hall. She walked out of the hall and pushed the wooden door open. It creaked. She sighed. She continued making her way to the voices. She then entered and found her husband, Lucius, her son, Draco, her grandson, Scorpius and her ex-daughter in law, Astoria... She walked over to where Lucius was standing and stood herself still. Her gray eyes flickered onto Astoria, then to Draco and Scorpius, back to Astoria. "What's going on?" she asked, softly. She glanced over at Lucius. "Lucius, my dear?" she waited for an answer.

Lucius’ eyes widened when his grandson suggested another option. Instead of glaring menacingly, Lucius looked at him as if to say he was making the wrong decision. He would have to find some way to change his mind, and the fact that Astoria was encouraging him was not helping whatsoever. “Are you sure, Scorpius?” He asked while making an attempt for his voice to be kind. He knew Scorpius had never liked the idea of alternating from houses – the boy had never liked change. “Would you be happy?” He pursed his lips into a thin line and was unsure to how he would work this out.
“Legal guardian my ass!”
Lucius was amused and smirked as his son continued to yell. “Now now Draco, mind your temper.” These words, if spoken from another, would most likely be reassuring, but it was obvious that Lucius was only entertained. Lucius raised an eyebrow challengingly when Draco moved closer to him. He intended on playing this situation calmly; his plans wouldn’t work out in his favor if he yelled angrily. “Obviously I am no substitute for a mother. That is why we have Narcissa.” He smiled, moving away from his son to greet his wife when she entered to room. “Draco and Astoria have decided to pay us an unexpected visit – they claim they want their son back.” He informed his wife, laughing lightly at the thought while he spoke sarcastically of Draco and Astoria.
"He would not have to choose who to live with. Scorpius would live with his mother, of course.”
He smirked successfully when Draco went on about how Scorpius would live with his mother. He took Draco’s words and decided to take advantage of them; he specialized in falsification. “You see Scorpius!” He turned to his grandson. “He doesn’t want you to live with him - he doesn’t want you in general.” He turned back in the direction of Draco. “And Draco, that it no way to speak of me or your grandmother.” He chuckled, speaking to him as if he were a child. When Draco continued to speak, Lucius could no longer hide the growl erupting from the back of his throat. He, quickly, collected himself and faced his son. “I do not use Scorpius for my benefit. I care about him and happen to also see him as someone who can correct what you couldn’t do.” He stated innocently. He had managed to not hex his son for his loud remark and carried on tranquilly. “And I could have made up for that during the battle, but I was too busy looking for you. I should have just let you die.” He sighed, as if disappointed by his decision.
