Hello,
Please post your homework for the lessons from class in this thread. You will be able to see your grades and scores in here for the class when your homework has been posted and graded.
Please understand that confidentiality is first priority. I expect that you do not look in another student's folder for the answers. If you have any questions, you can PM me or just post your question in your homework folder.
Thank you,
Victoria Harker
Scores: Lesson 1 - 5/5 Lesson 2 - 9/10 - a little late and too many fangs, but not enough to deduct a lot. Lesson 3 - 15/15 - very well thought out. Just to clarify: only dragon eggs are illegal. the things you listed before them are legally traded.

What do you want to learn in this class? I would like to learn how to successfully create as many potions as possibly, particularly ones that are useful in healing.
What are some of your hobbies? I am an avid reader who also enjoys muggle music and studying muggles.
Do you have any learning differences or accommodations you need from me? No, I do not. What is your favorite food, color, and type of music? My favorite food is fudge, my favorite color is blue and my favorite type of music is indie muggle music. Do you have any pets? I have my pet owl, Wilbur.
How many people make up your family? (Mom, Dad, Siblings, etc.) My family consists of myself, my sister (Aurelia) and my mother and father. So, my family includes four people.
Questions for you: Are there any specific aspects of Potions that we will be studying, perhaps something beneficial that I should brush up on for class?

((Sorry I didn't turn this in sooner, I hope it's ok!)) Homework # 2 -
Anthony was excited for his first real assignment in Potions. A self-proclaimed over-achiever, he was certain that he would do well with the first assignment and create a nearly perfect potion. Ok, maybe he wasn't that confident, Anthony wasn't really confident about anything. Still, he sat down at his desk and carefully wrote down all of the instructions before beginning to make the Boil Cure potion. The last thing Anthony wanted was boils, so he made sure to pay special attention to Professor Harker's last word of advice before he began.
First he carefully placed his cauldron over the fire and then grabbed the first ingredient. Anthony liked to take his time doing his work, so he added the Dried Nettles in slowly, stirring the potion as he did so. The cauldron bubbled a little, but Anthony was not startled or worried, he figured that this was what was to be expected. A quiet student, as he worked he didn't ask too many questions. The potion seemed fairly simple and the process of making it was explained very thoroughly.
When he was finished adding in the Dried Nettles, he added in the Crushed Snake Fangs. Unsure of how many to add, he ended up adding a few too many and was concerned with how this would effect the overall outcome of his potion. Still, he decided to continue and carefully added in the Stewed Horned Slugs. When he dropped them in, the potion bubbled again and emitted an odor that Anthony considered quite foul. He wafted the potion away from him and removed it from the heat. He wondered if anyone else's potion smelled like his did and his eyes darted around the room before he added in the Porcupine Quills. Satisfied that his potion was finished, even if it was probably a bit off because of the snake fangs, he bottled it, corked it and turned it into Professor Harker. He grinned sheepishly as he gave it to her because Anthony knew that he should have asked her about the snake fangs before continuing and he hoped that he wouldn't get too much of a reduction on his grade.

Lesson 3:
“Today we will be learning about Animal Derived Ingredients that we use in potions. Please take a couple minutes to write down a few that you can think of at the top of your notes and then we will move on.”
Anthony quickly scribbled down all of the things he could think of. The first was snake fangs, since last lesson he had used too many in his potion. The list continued from there: ashwinder eggs, black beetle parts, frog parts, flobber worms. He didn't get very far before the lesson started and he had to take notes on more specific things. His notes appeared as follows:
Acromantula venom: venom dries out not long after Acromantula's death, 100 galleons a pint Armadillo bile: Wit-Sharpening potion Ashwinder Eggs: ingredients in love potions or may be eaten whole as a cure for ague, highly flammable, must be kept frozen
They were moving so fast Anthony could hardly keep up, but he tried anyway and continued with his notes.
Bezores: kidney-like stone from a goat, protects from poisons, hairball Bicorn Parts: powdered horn, polyjuice Billywig parts: dried stings Black beetle boomslang parts: shredded skin, polyjuice
Anthony skipped over Bundimun secretion since she said it wasn't so important.
Caterpillers, crockroaches, crocodile parts, Doxy eyes, Dragon eggs: all non-tradable, come in illegally
Erumpent parts: horns and tails, exploding fluid Flobberworm mucus: thickens potions Frog parts Glumbumble fluids: antidote for eating Alihotsy leaves Graphorn: powdered horn Horned slugs Horned toads Jobberknoll feathers: memory potions, truth serums Lacewing flies Leeches: shrinking potions Lionfish spines Murtlap essence: pickled murlap tentacles, yellow, heals and soothes cuts and other wounds Newts, porcupine quills, puffer fish eyes & rat spleens: swelling solutions Re'em blood Roonspore eggs: enhance mental ability, black market Scalamander blood Crushed Scarabs Snake Fangs Snake venom Spiders Tube worms Unicorn: blood, horn and tail hair
Anthony practically threw his quill down and massaged his hand when he was finished.
