PERSONALITY: brilliant & calm.
adalaide is the quiet, smart type. she is not the type of person that flaunts around her top marks (if she gets them). she never really feels discouraged from getting average marks on things but, it is always a nice confidence boost to score higher. she does not always put her intelligence to good use. sometimes, she just does not think things through thoroughly before she says or does something. adalaide is generally calm and laid back ninety-nine percent of the time. she usually does not get stressed out over school or anything. there are times, usually at the end of the term when exams are coming up, that she does sort of freak out about not being able to pass and locks herself in the library all hours of the day.
cheerful & clumsy
ade is generally cheerful, although she is not without an occasional bad mood. everyone gets one of those. sometimes she can go into a bit of a funk where she is just feelings rather 'blah' (for lack of a better word). not much can be done about it. it just sort of happens, it comes, and then it goes. she has a good out look on everything. she never pays much mind to worrying about the future. she never plans for anything beyond a week or two. this is not something her parents like but, she feels it is her life, not theirs, so they can't plan it. there is too much she wants to do, and it almost feels like there is not enough time so, she takes things one day at a time. ade is also a bit clumsy. she always drops something, or says oops over something, or spills something (typically tea) all over something else. she has learned to cope with it but, sometimes it grows to be a bit of a pain. she hopes it is just an awkward teenage phase that will end, and end soon. she is really sick of stubbed toes and random bruises that seem to have no explanation.
friendly & generous
ade is a pretty friendly person to be around. she is sort of one of those types of people you want to be around because she always strives to include everyone, to satisfy their needs - even if they don't correlate with her own. she generously gives up her time, (and procrastinates a bit) to other people by hanging out with them. she spends half her time alone, and half her time with her actual friends. there are only a few she values as close friends, people she can really trust. some people she feels she can't trust because of the feeling she gets when she is around them. also, ade often times buys her friends little trinkets here and there. usually if she sees something she just knows someone will absolutely love, she has to buy it for them. it isn't even questioned in her mind. she is very loose with her money, feeling that she can always must make more later doing some job or other. in the mean time, she will get what she can doing odd jobs for her parents or babysitting during the summer months for friends of her parents.
innocent & loyal
adalaide is probably as innocent (almost) as a first year. she probably is more naive that innocent. ade has never really done anything. she sort of avoided parties, particularly because they were just too loud, too full of people, and just too much. no alcohol, no drugs, nothing like that. she is just purely curious about many things but, she remains...untarnished. she is just seen as that really nice, friendly, sometimes quiet, hufflepuff girl. to her closest friends, ade is fiercely loyal. she won't back down from their side from the trouble they may be facing. she remains as loyal as possible to herself. although she often disregards her own needs for others, she won't abandon her morals, values, and believes for something else.
peaceful & quiet
adalaide is not one to fight with anyone over anything. fighting is not really in her nature, which is why this whole situation with the black knights has her particularly scared about the future she never things about. she never really gets angry over anything either. such peacefulness makes her quiet sometimes. she is usually quiet, timid, and somewhat shy around most people. around certain people, like her friends or those she has warmed up to, ade opens up more and will talk more and such.
saucy & stubborn
once ade warms up to someone, she can be a bit saucy at times. it just isn't something that is always seen. it happens from time to time. she might get a more sassy than saucy but, pretty much the same thing. on top of everything else, adalaide can be rather stubborn. she hates to really give into things, particularly people. she really dislikes "jumping on the bandwagon". if she is ever sick, she refuses to miss classes, and refuses to go to a doctor or healer, or something. she is not a fan of seeing them, and feels that the few times she does get sick, it is just a common cold regardless of how bad she feels.
social & not-so-social
adalaide is like a social butterfly but not at the same time. upon first meeting people, she is a bit shy, quiet, maybe even a tad awkward. ade, however, is the type to warm up to people super quickly. by the time she does warm up to a person, she might not ever stop talking to them for the rest of her life. she makes friends quickly, and is quick to consider people her friends.

FAMILY allison rebecca boeck davis, 35, witch, mother
john anthony davis, 43, muggle government man, father
HISTORY adalaide ameilia davis was born on a rather hot august night. it is often a story her mother, allison, never lets her forget about the twenty hour labour in the unseasonably warm weather. despite the natural pain and uncomfortable nature of the labour process, adalaide was extraordinarily welcomed by her beloved parents allison and john. the wee red head was the final package to complete the couple's happiness.
adalaide had an happy childhood growing up. her father, who was a successful business man in london, doted on his daughter day and night. she was never left wanting or something. adalaide was a smart child, and learned that just by twisting her face into some sort of sad expression would get her whatever she wanted from her father. she never really manipulated him, not much beyond any normal child would do when they learned such things. both her parents paid her ample attention, her being their only child. they lived in a grand house, as her father's business success grew.
as he childhood wore on, adalaide began at muggle primary schools. this was the life she knew, she knew nothing of a life her mother kept hidden. when adalaide was about eight, a girl at school much bigger than her would basically bully ade. mostly it was about her red hair. oddly, she was the only girl in her class with red hair. adalaide never paid much mind to her own physical looks, until this girl taunted her every day. nearly every day, she would get home crying because the girl was so mean. one afternoon, adalaide finally just got really mad, and she meant to spin around and tell the girl to leave her alone already and pick on someone her own size when suddenly, the bigger girl just toppled over something.
adalaide had wanted the girl to be embarassed in front of the group that followed the bully around. some how, out of no where an obstacle appeared, tripping up the bigger girl, causing her to fall flat on her face in mid taunt. the other children laughed, ade, who was quite horrified ran home to tell her mother all about it. once she did, her mother beamed at her for a good five minutes. adalaide had been so confused - and then she learned something she had never known. her mother was a witch. a good witch, not a scary one with a green face and warts. plus, she could do magic but, this was something she was told not to share with her father because he didn't know.
a few years down the road, right after her eleventh birthday, a peculiar letter comes in the mail. ada hadn't been home when the letter arrived but, when she came home from a friend's house later that day, her mother was immensely excited for adalaide to open it, as if she knew what it was. her mother's excitement rubbed off, and adalaide nearly ripped open (but she wanted to save it) the letter and read it. she had been accepted into a school she didn't even know she had applied for. confused, adalaide looked at her mother, who quickly explained that adalaide was a witch, just like her, and that this is the school where all children of magic or even non magic parents typically go to school in the UK. her mother asked her if she wanted to go, and adalaide didn't really know what to decide. she had friends here, she knew what school she was going to next, and some of her friends were going there too. she was really uncertain of going to a school so far away from home.
that evening, allison confessed to her husband about her other life as a witch and about the whole other world. john did not react well. while her parents argued for the first time that adalaide could remember, she went through some of her mother's old school books she had been shown. after reading a chapter of a history book, going to this school called Hogwarts seemed like an adventure. ade had always dreamed about having her own sort of adventure after watching certain old muggle movies with her father (a weekly friday night tradition they had). as her parents continued to argue over this school business, and other things adalaide was trying not to listen too, she decided she would go to this school. it would be a seven year long epic adventure. besides, there was a prospect of making new friends, which was something that usually attracted her.
within a few weeks, her parents sat her down and told her they were getting a divorce. at first, she really did not understand what that meant, and once it was explained, she didn't understand how it was possible. she had not seen it but, her parents had been arguing over the past couple of years. their marriage was falling apart, and ada off in her own world, had not noticed. she felt like any normal child does - like she had done something wrong, that it was her fault. after a night filled with tears and refusing to be consoled by either parent, adalaide was more determined than ever to go to Hogwarts. she even boldly told her father (a person she never defied) that she was going to this school and didn't care if he didn't like it. given the divorce situation, he never protested. her parents divorce wasn't finalized until half-way through her first year and since then, adalaide lives half the time with her father, and the other half with her mother in two completely different worlds.
nervously and heart broken over her parent, adalaide went off to hogwarts, experiencing this new magical world. her mother had spent weeks explaining just about everything she could to ade, and ade spent all that time looking through and reading her mother's old school books, and her own new ones. adalaide met eager first years like herself on the train, and they sort of talked to each other about where they came from and what they were expecting. there were some really wild theories out there about what they did to first years but, adalaide knew the truth.
during the sorting business, adalaide was placed in hufflepuff. her first year was a bit of a struggle, adapting to life at hogwarts and dealing with her parents' divorce. she made it, making friends along with the way. her time in hogwarts has been an adventure in her mind but, average to anyone else. she didn't join the quidditch team or anything like that, she just exists and is another mind absorbing information, excited to go out and see more of the world.
for six years now, the world has been separated by house. it is something that is feeling more normal now, especially for adailade, although she never views the world as normal - especially in the muggle world. there is so much that she believes in, things deemed ridiculous and fictional by one world or the other. she is living in three different worlds, the wizarding one, a muggle one, and her own.
