PHYSICAL APPEARANCE: ben is first and for most skinny and lanky. at first glance (at a distance) one might peg ben as being over six foot, and although it's not far off, benji is a good five feet eleven inches tall. a mixture of lankiness, a broad chin, questionable existence of eyebrows, and his quirky dress style makes matt nearly unmistakable (albeit not very noticed, as he tends to stay away from people for the most part).

ben's style of dress is a bit eccentric at times. he has a bit of a vintage look to him, as he tends to wear mainly neutral colored blazers, shirts, kaki's, etc. if feeling festive (or cold, as he spends most of his time outdoors), he may throw on a brightly colored (and oddly patterned) sweater that would be more likely seen on an old man than a teenager.

BOGGART: uncontrolled fire - even before the house caught aflame, ben never was fond of fire. fire is dangerous and all consuming. fire destroys, and although it may create, it has to take before it can give. ben can deal with controlled fire, as in a fireplace, but if it is not enclosed it's a different story. fire raging over a field, forest, or out of a wand is what terrifies him. when benji faces his boggart he changes the flames into fire-y colored yarn. it makes his fear a lot more goofy and cartoony, which helps him cope.
PATRONUS: secretary bird - benji is a simple person who finds joy in simple things. to conjure his patronus he has to imagine sitting outside on a nice day with headphones in his ears and writing on his little notepad.

PERSONALITY: goof ball benji, for one, is definitely a goofy kid. ben, when around people, is generally in a cheerful disposition, and most likely laughing or smiling. he is a very playful sort, and prefers goofing off to doing work almost 100% of the time. this trait has a couple of downsides, of course. because of his 'all play and no work attitude' he has grown to be pretty lazy and unambitious. he will do his homework (doesn't want to deal with detentions or getting yelled at), but it will be half-arsed at best. the only classes he does well in are classes that he is naturally good at, thus not a lot of effort needed to excel. he also has the tendency to ignore issues (important or otherwise), which gets him into many pickles.

eccentric look at this kid. he's so quirky, his humor is offbeat, he wears really weird clothes, his music tastes are so questionable, he says all the strangest things at the weirdest times. wow, look at him sitting in the field all alone, what a loser. those are only some of the ('negative') impressions he tends to give off to certain students. ben goes by the beat of his own drum and tends to to care how eccentric he comes off to some. he listens to what he likes, wears what he likes, and says what he likes (as long as it's inoffensive and not a bother to anyone!).

doormat benji has a strong drive to avoid conflict an nearly any cost. he runs from conflict or backs out of it 99% of the time (if able). this means that to avoid confrontation or assertion in situations, he'll usually agree to help out others large portion of the time. he's lazy, sure, but he'd rather help someone with their homework than being forced to do their's by being bullied. you can bet that people abuse this trait of his a lot. this is why he tends to stay by himself for most of the time. he knows people use him, but he still can't really say no.

quick-witted, yet awkward ben has the capability of being quick-to-the-punch, innovative, clever, and perhaps even charismatic (if it's on a subject he's knowledgeable about -he gives good presentations-), however his social awkwardness may say otherwise. he's jumpy when it comes to physical contact, shy, etc.

FAMILY FATHER: arnold peter atkey, 42 (muggle dentist)
MOTHER: jennifer marie atkey, 39 (shop keeper)
HISTORY benjamin ellis atkey was born on september ninth, sixteen years ago. his parents where arnold peter atkey, a muggle, and jennifer marie atkey who was a witch. benjamin grew up in a normal muggle household, as his mother agreed to live in her husbands childhood home. benjamin got along with both his parents, and had a near pleasant childhood. he was told right away that his mother was a witch, and on his eleventh birthday he would be getting a letter to hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry.

at age eleven, as expected, he received his hogwarts letter. he was guided onto the train, but instead of making quick friends, he sat alone the whole way there. kids approached him, but ben was much too shy to socialize. he didn't mind being alone as soon as the sweets cart came along.

benji was sorted into hufflepuff, and ben was quick to write a letter to home. his mother was a hufflepuff when she was in school, so ben was quite proud. he was quickly in awe at the castle grounds, as it was much larger than he expected. ben ended up spending more time exploring the grounds then studying or making friends (and it still holds true to this day).

during the summer at age fourteen, benji was lying in bed when something strange happened. he woke up, but instead of seeing his room he saw that he was outside of his house and it was engulfed in flame. as soon as the vision started, it ended. ben couldn't confide in his parents about his weird vision, as they were out on a late-night date. ben decided to brush it off and go back to bed. he was awoken a bit later by a smoke alarm. scared to death, benji rushed outside to see half his house on fire. the only casualty was the family cat (which benjamin still feels guilty for to this day). by the time his parents came home the fire was put out, and half the house was burnt to the ground. the fire was caused by a faulty stove, though benji blames himself for it. later that night, in the hotel the family was staying at, ben confided in his mother about his vision. in tears, his mother told him that he had the same powers as she had. she told him that he was a seer, like her, and that she wished she would have warned him about the powers in case he had inherited it. since that day ben has had only a few other premonitions, but they were only small, insignificant ones.

ben has developed a bad schoolwork ethic by the end of his fifth year. he spends most of his time in his own head rather than on his studies. he receives multiple letters a month from his parents complaining about it, but it never changes a thing. it seems that as the years go by ben has been becoming more and more apathetic about schoolwork. he alienates himself from people more than usual, which, unfortunately, he doesn't seem to mind.

the changes that robert leblanc made hardly bothered ben. he tries his best to ignore the problem (and the constant complaining about it and news of rebellious thoughts or actions). his mother was also a hufflepuff so he knows he still has her, and he finds it humorous (and lucky) that hufflepuffs are stuck with odd end jobs (the lazier the job the better, in his opinion). ben is confronted about his lack of opinion and nearly down right apathy toward the problem. ben just tries to shrug it off; not wanting to get more involved.
