OUTFIT HERE TAGGED : MARGIE NOTES : Not bad for my first post in months, eh? For the most part, things didn't go well for Savvy. Not that she'd done something in her mere sixteen years of life to deserve her unfortunate luck, it was just the way her whole life had gone. Her mother didn't want her, her father was a mystery man, she didn't even have a photograph to go on. All of those years, living in that perfect house on Dreary Drive (believe it or not, that's what the street was actually called- very suiting,) she'd wished that her father would swoop in and save her from the life she led. It was always very clear Sav had a different father, aside from being told it almost every day of her life, she looked nothing like her blonde, chiseled siblings, every bit German. No, instead, Savvy was stuck with her brown hair and blue eyes and her knobby knees and her inability to do silent spells. At times, when she was young, she'd ask her mother for help with things like tying shoes and braiding hair, but Charlotte was always too busy for Savvy. Being sorted into Hufflepuff wasn't a shock, for anyone. If anything, it was a conformation of a life long series of unfortunate events. Practically getting kicked out of her parents house came as more of a relief, an excuse not to stay in that god forsaken place.
Hogwarts was the one place Sav could turn to when things got hard. Though she failed to be exceptional at, well, anything really, she loved her school. She loved her friends and her classes and even the teachers that told her she'd never go far. Even with the new laws and she knew the chances of getting a good job were slim, but they always were. Still, she tried. She tried hard no matter what because the slim chances of her getting a good job were odds she was willing to take. Luck never played out in her favor, but trying like hell couldn't hurt, could it?
It was because of this that Sav spent most of her Saturday nights studying in the library, trying desperately to prepare for her NEWTS. That night was no exception, as rain and what may have been hail sloshed down the stain glass window panes of the library and thunder boomed. It was only September, and the term had just begun, but the weather was already changing, slightly. The seasons were changing; Sav could feel it in her bones. On the floor of the Potions section she grunted in frustration and tossed aside a book that looked like it'd been set on fire several times. The library would probably be closing in a few hours, but it didn't matter; she'd stay until the ancient librarian, who was more skin and bone than woman personally removed her. Stretching her cramped muscles, she let out a yawn and looked around the darkened isle. Aside from an extremely scrawny third year, she was all alone. Thunder cracked so loud it caused her to jump, and the hair on her arms stood up. Otherwise, it was too quiet. Much, much too quiet.

[atrb=width,400] words: 445 tagged: savvy notes: --- Adalaide had been outside, doing nothing in particular. She wasn’t one to pay any sort of attention to the weather. As usual, Ada had forgotten about her surrounds. She did not notice that it was darker outside; she did not notice the clouds. If the raindrops were not the size of marbles, Adalaide probably would not have noticed those either. When she was alone, Adalaide got herself so deep in thought that everything else became irrelevant for a little while. Adalaide had been all the way down by the lake when it started to pour, lightening, and thunder. She had to run (laughing to herself) all the way to the castle.
Winded, breathless, and soaked to the bone, Adalaide made it back into the castle. Her bright red hair clung to her face. Ada drew it back, pushing it this way and that so she could see. One normally headed to their dormitory after getting caught in a thunderstorm but, not Adalaide. Instead, she headed to the library of all places. As she traveled up to the fourth floor, she shoes squelched as she ascended the stairs. It was a really annoying sound but, one that did not even phase Adalaide. So, what was her reasoning for going to the library? It would be empty, and the fireplaces would not be crowded. Adalaide was willing to risk getting yelled at by the librarian. It was definitely worth the risk. With weather like this, everyone would be hanging about in the common room. That was just one too many people for Adalaide. Besides, she did not feel like explaining herself a thousand times.
She walked past a third year, who had his head in a book. Adalaide heard a loud crash of thunder, which made her jump slightly, as she was not prepared for it. This caused her to whip around, and step backwards. This step backwards, caused her to topple backwards over someone’s legs. A sort of squeaking noise came out of her throat as she fell back. At least she had enough sense to hold out her arms to stop herself from banging her head on the floor. Out of pure reaction, her eyes had shut and did not open back up until she had stopped moving. Who the hell was sitting on the floor?! Her eyes flew open, wider than normal for her own embarrassment. She looked at who was the cause of her tumble, and very much to her relief, it was her best friend, Savvy. ”Oh, hello!” Adalaide said with all cheerfulness, ignoring the fact she just tripped. ”…why are you on the floor? I doubt this floor is ever cleaned.”

OUTFIT HERE TAGGED : MARGIE NOTES : meow You know how some people are just so cheerful you just have to smile when you see them? That's Adalaide. The very sight of her, with her siren red hair just makes you smile. It was the hair Sav first noticed. While all the first years were awaiting their fate, waiting for the sorting hat to take hold of her life, she craned her neck to see above everyone, and spotted a great, big, ball of red. Ada went before her, alphabetically and was sorted into Hufflepuff. When it was Sav's turn, they were put into the same house and the rest of it just happened. From that day on it was Sav and the girl with red hair. They'd been friends long enough that Sav never felt the need to explain herself, or her strange ways to Adalaide.
That damn thunder, after she calmed herself down she moved her arms together to get rid of the goosebumps. Suddenly, something tumbled over her leg. This something must've been unsteady after the thunder and tripped of Savvy's outstretched leg. This something squeaked and they both opened their eyes around the same time. This something had bright red hair, and was sopping wet. Adalaide, of all people, had fallen onto her. They must've looked ridiculous, with all of their limbs tangled together. After Ada straightened herself out a bit she asked Sav what she was doing on the floor, telling her it wasn't clean.
Pressing her lips into a hard line, she suppressed laughter while she was being lightly scolded. "The chairs in here are uncomfortable." She stated with a shrug. Crossing her legs so as to sit Indian style, to prevent further pile ups in the walkway. Never once had she sat in the musty smelling chairs with their hard seats- she just didn't. "The floor isn't so bad, other than the fact that I made you trip- sorry about that, by the way." Looking up at her best friend from a slouched over position she realized there were water spots now on her leg. "You're wet. Really wet. I'm assuming this is because you went wandering and forgot there was a storm coming." Sav said with an eyebrow raised and a smile on her lips.

While Savvy may have been able to contain her laughter, Adalaide could not. She never could in such situations as this - and they happened quite often. She giggled and snorted in an attempt to not laugh out right and get scolded by the librarian. Savvy somehow made Adalaide's life better. She had been sort of able to console Adalaide during her parents' whole divorce process. Ada knew that Savvy did not have the best parents, and she was pretty sure the fact that Savvy had a father was nothing short of fiction. It really made Adalaide feel tons more better that she had at least both parents around, even if they were not together and constantly arguing and trying to prove who was the better parent. How that all came to surface, Adalaide would probably never know. She was not even sure if she wanted to know.
Adalaide chose to remain on the floor but, she straightened herself out so her limbs where not in four different directions. "Well, you know, if I had ever learned to watch where I was going, I wouldn't have tripped!" she exclaimed, with a ensuing giggle. Ada looked down at her shirt as Savvy pointed out the oh so obvious. Her clothes were soaked, clinging onto her like skin, and her hair still looked like a wet mop. She grinned at Savvy. Her friend knew her all too well. "I didn't exactly forget there was a storm coming, I honestly had no idea. You know how much I pay attention to the weather," she added. "I figured the fires in the library would be free...so, here I am to dry off," Adalaide paused. "I'm probably the only student in this entire school that would come here, of all places, to dry off," she said, following by another giggle.

OUTFIT HERE TAGGED : MARGIE NOTES : iloveyouuu<3 When they were together, there was a lot of giggling. To others, they looked like children on a playground when the giggles began to escape. Because of this, librarians generally disliked Ada and Savvy together. So when Ada made an attempt to control her laughter, Sav did the same. I didn't exactly forget there was a storm coming, I honestly had no idea. You know how much I pay attention to the weather,I figured the fires in the library would be free...so, here I am to dry off, I'm probably the only student in this entire school that would come here, of all places, to dry off" To this, Sav nodded. It was all true.
Thunder boomed again, making the sound equivalent of a whip. Once more, Savvy found herself flinching and shutting her eyes, sure her heart had stopped and restarted. Checking to make sure the window stayed shut, she wrapped an around herself and listened to the howling wind. The storm was in full force and sounded as if stopping was out of the question for at least a few more hours, if it was not raining still at day break, Sav would be honestly surprised.
"You know i don't pay much mind to the weather either. But this," she nodded towards the stained-glass windows, where water droplets were hitting hard, "This has been brewing for days. Savvy let out a short giggle at her friends absentmindedness. With a nod, she continued, "the fires are always open. And at least here you don't have to worry about first years playing stupid pranks. I swear, last week i got a beetle in my hair!" Reaching instinctively to the mess atop of her head, she made a face of fake horror. "I don't think we were ever that obnoxious. If we were, I feel really sorry for everyone who put up with us. Sav shook her head.

Once more Adalaide shook out her now tangled, wet mane of red hair. Water droplets were sent everywhere, and she just half giggled over it. It would be much easier to use magic to dry her hair. One little spell not only would dry her hair, it would control the inevitable puffiness that might follow. Magic made certain things less fun. Where was the fun in drying by a fire if you were already dry? There wasn’t any. Now, if Ade was feeling cold, then perhaps she might use a little magic. But, it was still September, it was warm yet so, there wasn’t a chill in her. Adalaide snorted at Savvie’s second flinch. She glanced toward the window and was really glad she came in the castle when she did. It was getting a wee bit nasty out there. The sort of weather that was a lot less fun getting stuck in. The storm had started with a gentile pour, and now that took a rather sour turn fast. Adalaide would probably be in a worse state had she remained out of doors.
“Has it?” she asked, not expecting Savvy to have an answer to that question. Who really paid attention to the weather at Hogwarts? Hardly anyone, unless they were one of those crazy die hard quidditch players, even then, they continued to play in all sorts of weather. Adalaide was not that into quidditch. She liked it, she went to matches to cheer on Hufflepuff but, that was the extent of it. She didn’t fangirl over attractive players because that was so just…ugh. She had yet to really get interested in boys. There was interest but, Adalaide could care less about having a boyfriend. It was the least important thing to her and would probably stay that way. “I don’t know,” Ade said, looking back at Savvy. “We can get pretty obnoxious together,” she chuckled and then tilted her head toward the fires before beginning to walk over. “Come on, before I become a popsicle or something,” she added over she shoulder. Reach the fire, Adalaide plopped herself down in the first open, oversized chair she saw, sinking back into the cushion. How could anyone study in these things?
