- Apparition is a magical form of teleportation, through which a witch or wizard can disappear from one location and reappear in another. It is sometimes accompanied by a distinctive cracking or popping sound, though this is associated with ineptitude rather than success; the most skilled wizards can Apparate suddenly and silently that they seem to have popped out of the ground. The act is also accompanied by a very unpleasant squeezing sensation, as though being sent through a tight rubber tube.
- For reasons of security, the grounds of Hogwarts are protected by ancient Anti-Apparition and Anti-Disapparition spells, which prevent humans from using Apparition in the school grounds. This does not extend to magical creatures such as house-elves and phoenixes, who can still use their own form of Apparition.
- Apparition is learned through the Ministry. A witch or wizard must be 17 years old to a licensed Apparitioner.
Limits
-- This is open to 17-year-olds and older
-- This is an average, everyday, wizard thing so, infinite spots are available!
Animagus
- An Animagus is a witch or wizard who can turn into a particular animal at will.
- This ability is not innate: it must be acquired by magical means - in other words it must be learned from a professional via the Ministry.
- All Animagi must register at the ministry. It is illegal to obtain this ability without registering.
- Every Animagus has a specific animal form. They keep this form their entire life. It never changes.
- A practiced Animagi can transform at will, and retain the minds while in their animal form.
- The animal form is suited uniquely with the individuals personality. No two animagus are the same.
Limits
-- no students may be an animagi, only adults
-- for now, only 4 will be accepted
Legilimens
- This is the ability to extract feelings and memories from another person's mind.
- This is NOT the same as telepathy, as thoughts are not seen/heard.
- A Legilimens can plant memories, real or imaginary, to another person
- Legilimens can detect lies in another person
- They cannot break through an Occulmens, unbreakable vow, or person protected by any sort of magic (dark or via the ministry).
Limits
-- This is open to adults
-- They are not going to be an expert at first. To be good, it takes at least three or more years of practice and learning.
-- for now, only 3 spots are open
Metamorphagus
- A metamorphmagus is a witch or wizard born with the ability to change some or all of their appearance at will.
- It is a rare ability and can only be inherited genetically.
- A metamorphmagi can choose their looks and completely change their appearance.
- They can't completely change into animals or other non human beings
Limits
-- This is open to all ages.
-- Only 3 spots are open + 1 canon spot (see list)
Occulmens
- This is the counter skill to Legilimency
- This ability prevents a Legilimens from extracting feelings and memories from the Occlumens mind
- This is a difficult skill to learn. It isn't something that can be mastered right away.
Limits
-- This is open to adults
-- They are not going to be an expert at first. To be good, it takes at least three or more years of practice and learning.
-- for now, only 3 spots are open
Parselmouth
- A parselmouth can talk to and understand snakes.
- This ability is rare and is often affiliated with Dark Magic
- It can be learned but, is very, very, very, very, very difficult. It is most likely to be something inherited than learned as it would take forever to learn
Limits
-- This is open to anyone
-- It must be inherited
-- for now, only 1 spot are open (and one for Harry Potter of course)
Seers
- A seer is a witch or wizard that has the ability to predict future events
- Not all of these will become true, as the future changes with every choice people make
- Seers are known as the "unspeakables" in the Ministry and often help them out in cases
- Seers can't be forced into predicted anything, nor can they do it at will
- Seers can't always control this ability
Limits
-- This is open to anyone
-- It must be inherited
-- for now, only 3 spots are open
Vampires
- A vampire is a magical being that is known to bite people and suck their blood.
- They are pale and have sharp teeth fangs that come out when they are in that mood.
- Vampires are not considered a true threat to the Wizarding community, as many vampires have agreed to only feed on muggles and not wizards.
- If a vampire were to feed on a wizard, no one is quite sure what would happen.
- One cannot be turned into a vampire by a simple bite. Yes, one must be bitten but then, the bitten must drink the blood of the vampire that bit them, die as a human (which tends to be painful) and then feed for the transformation to be complete.
- Vampires do not sparkle.
- Vampires do have heightened senses, reactions, etc.
- Vampires live forever
- They are not affected by the sun so, they can walk around in daylight.
- They heal rather quickly
- A wooden stake to the heart will kill them.
- Garlic, crosses, silver, and Holy Water have no effect on vampires.
- They cannot be hurt or injured with Unforgivable Curses.
- They cannot control themselves very well if they have not fed in awhile.
- Basically, think vampire diaries vampires, because those are most accurate - minus being able to walk in the sun without things.
Limits
-- If you want a character to be turned, it MUST be APPROVED by the ADMIN FIRST, OR ELSE!
-- ONLY ACCEPTING CANON VAMPIRES FOR NOW (see canon's list)
Veelas
- Veelas are a race of semi-human, semi-magical creatures.
- They appear to be young, beautiful human women, and their appearance and especially their dance are magically seductive to almost all males.
- When Veelas are angry, however, they transform -- their faces turn into cruel-beaked bird heads and long scaly wings burst from their shoulders, and they can launch balls of fire from their hand.
- They are born with the veela blood. It is purely genetically
- Hogwarts does not allow full of half veelas because of this dominant behavior.
Limits
-- This is open to anyone
-- It must be inherited
-- No pure veelas - 1/2 or less but, 1/2 are really rare
-- for now, only 2 spots are open + the 4 canons
Werewolves
- A werewolf is a human who, upon the rising of the full moon, turns into a fearsome near-wolf. Werewolves can be distinguished from regular wolves by several small distinguishing characteristics, such as the pupils of the eyes, snout shape, and tufted tail. The transformation process is painful.
- At all other times, they appear as normal humans, though will often seem to be ill as the full moon approaches.
- This condition is caused by infection with lycanthropy, usually occurring when a human is bitten by a transformed werewolf.
- There is no known cure, but the effects can be lessened with the Wolfsbane Potion.
- It can be passed through genes.
- They can infect their victims through biting
- They can heal quickly, have bad tempers, and are usually stronger than normal humans.
- After "the change" a werewolf will have scratches and some scars from the transformation for a few days, even though they heal quickly.
Limits
-- The only student werewolves that will be accepted are those in the canons list.
-- There are 4 spots for adult werewolves.
