With each word her parents spoke it was making it harder and harder for Kelsey to keep to her decision. Part of her wanted to stay and go back to Hogwarts and try to mend her broken life but the other part of her, a major part wanted to run away to start over. A whole new life is what she craved for. She wanted to go to a place where no one knew her history and she could be anyone she wanted to. After everything that she had went through, wasn't it practically her right to be able to start off with a clean slate? If she went back to Hogwarts she would just slip into her old habits and routines again. Crying would take over her life and the bottle of vodka would not be able to leave her lips. She wanted to be normal again, well as normal as she was before everything happened. The only way she could think to fix things would be to run away.
"But running away from everything will fix everything for me! I just want a fresh start. I don't want to be known as that girl who is full of problems or that girl who is always drunk and crying. I want to be normal again and the only way that can happen is if I leave this all behind and start over. Don't I deserve a new beginning?" Kelsey pleaded to her father, hoping her reasoning would make him see the error of his ways. Hopefully he would see that it would be best for her and would just let her leave. However, she knew that wouldn't happen. She knew this was a battle she was not going to win and it became more clear to her when her father pulled out the James card. Her selfishness had really stopped her from seeing what this would do to James. She would miss him and hell it would be hard for her to live without him in her life, even if it was only for a couple of weeks, or more than three days.
"James would understand. And I would come see him in Hogsmeade! But why would you want me to stay? Its not like I am doing any good in your life by being here," Kelsey asked her father, already knowing what he was going to say. Even though she knew the answer, it would be still nice to hear it come out of his lips. Maybe, just maybe his answer would influence whether or not she would stay or leave. Kelsey heard her mother speak and glanced over at her. It was the first time she had heard her mother say that she needed her. Her mother actually needed her.
"But mother, if I stay I am not going to be here with you. I am going to be back at that toxic wasteland of a school that is filled with nothing but lies and betrayal. I don't think it is the best environment for me to be in with my.. condition" Kelsey argued, indicating both her horcrux and drinking problems. She knew that she was going to stop drinking. it was her main goal. It would be hard, hell she may relapse at times, but she had to do it. Maybe she would have to go to rehab to stop or something. She knew if she continued she would just end up ruining her life. If she continued it would be stupid, and Kelsey was far from being stupid.

"....if I leave this all behind and start over. Don't I deserve a new beginning?"
Robert let out a heavy sigh. He wanted more than anything to have all this shit that was going on go away, and for Kelsey to live the life she was suppose to be living. The life of a normal seventeen year old - who wasn't married. But, he knew that one had been beyond his control as much as he still disliked the idea. Robert also knew something else from his Death Eater days. It didn't matter where she went, they would track her down. He personally had done such things himself except, he always tortured and killed the wizards he hunted. Robert knew Kelsey wouldn't be killed but changed, turned into someone like Bellatrix. Robert shook his head. He would have to make Kelsey understand there was no running away, even if that meant telling her a less than pleasant story about himself. "You can't get a new beginning by running away," Robert said, trying to put it in a way that wouldn't scare the crap out of her. Oh, he could just avoid those details. "Kelsey..." he shifted uncomfortably. "...they will find you if you run away. Trust me, I know for a fact they will hunt you and drag you back," Robert finished, staring at Kelsey with pleading eyes that said 'don't go'. He wasn't about to let them or Bellatrix go out hunting for his daughter. Robert could practically guarantee that they would use something or someone as bait to lure her back so they could have her. "...Its not like I am doing any good in your life by being here," Really? Did he really have to go through all that, again? Kelsey should know by now that she was doing Robert good. Despite everything that was happening, the fact that she was still alive and able to control herself was enough to keep him from falling apart at the seams. Robert's eyes drifted to Mandy as she took a turn trying to convince Kelsey to stay. Hell, he was going to force Kelsey to stay if he had to curse her (a harmless on of course) and carry her back to Hogwarts himself. "If you come back to Hogwarts with me, I'll stop drinking with you," Robert said, with all the seriousness in the world. The only problem with that was that Robert wasn't sure if he could stop without picking up some other bad habit to replace it. Weeks ago, Robert knew he had surpassed your typical alcoholic addiction. He was beyond anything there was a word for. Stopping of him would be ten times worse that it would be for Kelsey. Robert had years under his belt. [/blockquote]

This had to be the most dysfunctional family, ever. In all her thirty-six years of living, Mandy had never witnessed family discussions or arguments like the ones she had with her family. Although she wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world. No matter how loud the arguments could get, or how serious the conversations became, Mandy loved her family how it was, they where their own little unit with their own individual problems. How that could be heart-warming she didn’t know, all she knew was that if Kelsey left, they wouldn’t be a family without a missing unit, without her daughter.
Mandy had no choice but to agree with Robert’s words, slowly nodding every once in a while. “Running away wont solve problems Kelsey, they don’t just disappear. You go and they’ll only become worse, they’ll still be waiting for you until you return. If you stay, we can help, we can sort out the problems together. I promise.” She said, looking at her daughter through soft, but tired eyes. So much was happening, she had only just discovered her daughter had been raped, her husband was cheating and now Kelsey wanted to run away. There was only so much a woman could take. Things like these unravelled in months, not in an hour. Things like these drove people over the edge, and Mandy wasn’t worrying about herself, she was pretty much worrying about Kelsey who was capable of anything.
“Kels, stop talking nonsense. We love you, if you leave you’re breaking both of our hearts.” Mandy was pretty sure if she did manage to get out the door, she’d reach the end of the pathway and Robert would be trailing her straight back up here, so was there really a point of trying? She had only just got through to her daughter after years of conflict and now she wanted to leave? Unfortunately, she wasn’t going anywhere just yet. “You can come here on weekends if things get too much for you?” Mandy suggested, flickering her eyes to Robert, “Can’t she?” She asked, looking at him.
When Robert suggested his proposition, Mandy slowly turned her head in his direction. If he proposed this only a few hours before hand, she would have been highly amused. He was considered a class A alcoholic, the worst kind. Seeing him give up was close to a miracle. However when he spoke his words, he seemed so serious, his voice full of honesty. Pushing a strand of hair behind her ear, she arched an eyebrow, waiting for Kelsey to speak, silently wondering what her daughter would respond. She hoped he would stick to his word, it was for the best. Seeing her family consume so much alcohol, Mandy had refused to drink in fear that she might become addicted as easily as the rest of her family had.

Kelsey never knew her parents were so good in the art of persuasion. The more they tried to persuade her, the more it was starting to work. Was running away really the best option for her? Maybe a new beginning wasn't found by running away from the problem. In her mind, if she left, the problem would cease to exist and would blow over in no time. However the idea that the problem would come back never really occurred in her mind. At this moment, Kelsey really hated having cunning and persuasive parents.
"I think I deserve a new beginning! I never wanted this life! I never asked to be a rape victim, or a horcrux for that matter! I just want to be normal! How am I suppose to get the life I want without running? Answer me that one!" Kelsey argues, really trying to win. She knew it would be a challenge because of her parents. But as they spoke, they began to get her to think that they were beginning to be right. Staying may be the best choice for her. After all, there were many people there to help her in her quest for a new life and to support her. However, a life of freedom, roaming the world was also sounding very tempting.
"If I leave I would still come see you mother. Nothing would stop be from doing that. It is just that I really really really do not want to go back to that castle. You don't know what it is like for me! The constant stares I get from people and the talking in the halls. It is maddening I tell you," Kelsey argued some more, still trying to get her point across to her parents. It was essential that she win this case. It was her life after all, she should have the freedom to chose what she does with it. Besides, there were worst things she could do. She could get pregnant and have to drop out of school to raise the child or she could go on a killing rampage murdering millions, you know, whatever she felt like doing. She just wanted to explore and learn knew things outside the walls of the castle.
Then her father said something that shocked her to pieces. He said that he would stop drinking if she went back to Hogwarts. Kelsey could not believe her ears. Would her father be willing to do this for her? She never thought that those words would come out of his mouth but the question was, did he really mean it or was he just bluffing?
"You would do that for me? How do I know you are really telling the truth? After all, if we both stop drinking, there will be two cranky LeBlancs roaming around the castle and frankly, I don't think Hogwarts is ready for that just yet," Kelsey said, smiling a bit, trying to lighten the mood. She could just imagine how cranky both Kelsey and Robert would be if they both stopped drinking at the same time. Kelsey was pretty sure someone would die because of it.
"Look, the reason why I don't want to go back to school is mainly because, as I see it, I could die at any moment. I am a walking talking target here and I just want to get out and explore the world while I can. If I go back to Hogwarts I will be stuck in a castle with all the drama and it just won't be good for me," Kelsey said, revealing one of many true reasons why she wanted to just escape. She wanted one more final taste of the world before she had to face all of her challenges. She knew that she was probably going to be one of those people who die young. Though she didn't want to, it was probably her destiny.

" How am I suppose to get the life I want without running? Answer me that one!"
Robert felt himself starting to get irritated with Kelsey. He wanted to just....ugh, strangle her to get some sense into her. Maybe that was a typical feeling when you have teenagers. "You deserve to have anything you want. I screwed that one up for you," he paused. The subject in which he had to shed light up was not one full of rainbows and unicorns. Then again, they weren't exactly the functional family either. "Bellatrix will hunt you down herself - most likely. If she's feeling particularly cruel ... I could be sent to do it like in the old days," he said, cringing at the mere thought of it. Hunting down people for other people had been his job mostly as a Death Eater - before Voldemort was defeated. Robert was good at tracking people down, torturing them until they either came back with him and Voldemort could deal with them himself or, Robert would just kill them. It wasn't a pleasant job, no where near being Headmaster. Robert thought being Headmaster was like heaven compared to what he used to do. He had thought, for the most part, that he had forgotten all that bad business. Apparently, he hadn't really dealt with it. “Can’t she?” He nodded. Letting Kelsey come home on weekends sound like a good enough compromise to him. Robert felt like just saying 'listen to your mother' - something fatherly like that. Just going with that though wouldn't make Kelsey stay. He got to thinking. Maybe it would be better for her to just go off. He could deal with the possible consequences at Hogwarts - Jack Lestrange mainly. It was because of such a person, that Robert couldn't know where Kelsey was. One way or another Jack would probably find out but, it wasn't going to be coming from Robert. Even James couldn't know either. Jack could easily find out from the boy as well. All he had to do was walk around the halls and think about where she was by herself, and Jack would 'hear' it. "You would do that for me?....I don't think Hogwarts is ready for that just yet." A small smirk cracked on Robert's features. He was beyond positive that he would most likely not be in a good mood for several days, or even weeks from the lack of alcohol. Even worse was that he knew he would just pick up some other bad habit to replace drinking. The only problem was that Robert wasn't so sure he could give alcohol up so easily but, he had to do it. "What, you don't believe me?" he asked. "I would do anything for you, even if it meant bringing Hogwarts somethings it's not ready for. It'll survive. The school has been through worse than two cranky LeBlancs," Robert noted. He tried sounding lighthearted but, didn't quite hit the mark. His found sounded heavy, which was how he felt. Heavy with guilt, anger, sadness, and some more guilt. It was all stacked on top of each other, layer after layer, a repeating pattern. To let her go, or not - that was the question that was now bouncing in his head. Robert couldn't let her go but, part of him told him that he had to. Kelsey did prove a good point. She could die at any moment. Someone could find out she was a horocrux and just kill her themselves. Of course, then Robert would that person, torture them, and then kill them himself. Robert sighed and looked between Mandy and Kelsey several times. "If you leave, no one can know where you are. Absolutely no one. Not me, not your mother, not James...no one. It'll just make it easier for them to find you. You'd have to take on a completely different identity even," he said, closing his eyes. Robert wasn't sure if he was closing his eyes to prevent himself from crying or if it was to avoid any sort of look he was bound to get from his possibly ex-wife. He could only hope that this fact would keep Kelsey from going. She would be alone in the world. Robert didn't' want to be up late at night, wondering where she was, how she was getting by or if she was even still alive. [/blockquote]

Mandy had given up, Kelsey was determined to win this argument, the girl had fought for peace. However, there would be no peace if she left. Mandy’s heart wasn’t prepared to lose two people in the same day. Why was this pain inflicted upon her? She must’ve been a real bitch in the past life. “Yeah, he screwed that up for you.” No longer being able to bite her tongue, she tapped her nails against the banister as her eyes glued themselves to Kelsey. It was only when Robert suggested that he could be possibly chosen to chase after her that Mandy snapped her head towards his, her lips parted slightly in disbelief. Was that women really all that cruel? Mandy had only crossed paths with Bellatrix Lestrange once before and it was a brief hello and then Mandy was gone like the wind, knowing better than to hang around. She had been invited to join the death eaters once before, she was eighteen but had to politely decline much to the displeasure of her family, and the only excuse she had was that she was pregnant. Perhaps why they didn’t give her hell, or maybe it was just because they already had Robert under their reign.
“Listen. Kelsey you are not normal, you will never be normal. Running away will not make you normal. There is nothing normal about you, me or this family.” Mandy said quite bluntly while holding the strands on hair from her eyes. Maybe there was bus outside that she could make a leap in front of, the quicker she got this bullshit people called life over with, the better. This had to be a punishment, a very cruel, torturing, punishment. It phased her, really, what could she have possibly done to deserve a cheating husband and a possible run away daughter, who not only happened to be a rape victim, but also an alcoholic who was being used as a horcrux. Wow…they deserved to be parents of the year.
“I know how hard school can be…” Mandy trailed off, reconsidering her words. Actually, she never had much trouble in school, she had plenty of friends to keep her occupied, few enemies, and lot of men to keep her occupied. Hell! She wouldn’t mind going back to those days, and rewrite a few chapters of her life. Perhaps rewrite the chapter ‘My Dysfunctional Family’ or ‘My failed fucking marriage’ Both sounded like they needed some drastic changes. “Anyway, if it gets too hard you can come back here. I can get you home schooled for a while until you get back on your feet and Robert fires that bastard Lestrange.” It was all pretty possible, they could work through this rough patch, she could work past her mid-life crisis, she hoped, and they could do it together.
Oh so now he was agreeing to give up! Mandy’s face turned sour at the thought, if he only decided that an hour ago, they wouldn’t be in this bloody mess. She was really beginning to despise life, she had nothing to look forward to anymore. Even the thought of shopping didn’t make her heart warm up the way it used to. She needed to do a bit of shopping though, her wardrobe needed clearing out, everything that had been purchased under Robert’s name she was dumping (which pretty much meant she’d have nothing) and then she’d buy everything under her own name, for a change. Damn, she was making herself out to be such a money hungry bitch, which she wasn’t! She just didn’t see the point in wasting her own money if she had his, her money meant a hell of a lot more than his did.
Mandy’s thoughts had wondered, as had her gaze. She was too focused to notice the silence that dawned in the room. Then slowly moving from her thoughts she listened to Robert while fiddling with her necklace. It took a moment until she realized what he was getting at and before she knew it, she was on her feet standing in front of Kelsey. “Don’t listen to him Kelsey. You can’t go. If you where to die at any moment, wouldn’t you want to be with your family, your loved ones? I have just gotten my daughter back after all these years of bitterness and resentment, please stay, for me, for the people who love you.” Mandy was pleading now, seeing Robert give up hope and practically inviting her to go, it only made Mandy that much more desperate. “My heart can’t take this, I can’t lose two people on the same day.” She continued saying, maintaining the eye contact with her daughter. “Just stay and think about it a little more. Give the bag and I’ll put it in your room.” As the sentence sounded certain, her voice was shaking, worried and full of concern.

Now Kelsey was totally confused. What she seemed to sure of ten minutes ago now seemed like the wrong thing to do. However, it wasn't her father that was convincing her to stay. To her surprise, it was her mother. The person who would have been voted most likely to make Kelsey run away was pleading for her to stay. Kelsey wanted to stay just to see if they could make their strained relationship work. One thing about Kelsey was that she hated to make decisions. She always felt like she could never chose the right one for the situation.
"I can handle Bellatrix. Truth be told, I've had secret meetings with her before. She started to train me to become a death eater, but I backed out because of James. We have an understanding though. She would not harm me," Kelsey said, revealing about her secret meetings. She could not recall if she had told this to her father before but she knew for a fact that her mother had not known about this. She realized that her whole Bellatrix phase was because she was trying to fill the void of not having a mother in her life before. Now that Mandy was back into her life, she knew that Bellatrix would mean nothing to her ever again or so she hoped.
Home schooled. Not that sounded like something new. She never thought of that idea before. However, she knew that she would miss seeing James everyday. The only reason why she would be staying in Hogwarts would be because of James. He was about the only thing that kept her moving forward in her messed up life. She then realized that if she left, he may not be so supportive about it. What if he found someone else? Kelsey would be devastated. Oh why was this decision so hard for her to make?
"I don't know if I would like homeschooling. I mean I would rather teach myself than be stuck in a room with some random creepy teacher... What if you know, the teacher is a creep like Jack and tries to.. you know," Kelsey stated, revealing more of her insecurities about homeschooling. She was so scared that she would be raped again that it was insane! She was constantly looking behind her shoulder to see if anyone was there and she barely was ever alone in a room with just one person anymore.
"Well it is just kinda hard to believe. I mean you not drinking! I cannot see you without a drink in your hand. It is impossible," Kelsey said to her father. As badly as she wanted him to quit with her, she knew that it was an unlikely chance. Then Kelsey's father said something that made her heart sink. He was actually going to let her go. To top it all off he wanted to cut her off with all ties from everyone! How could he do that? It would just kill her! Did he not care at all? Kelsey felt a whole new wave of painful emotions course throughout her fragile body. How could one man be so heartless!
"You would be willing to stop talking to me all together and not let me talk to my own husband or mother? Do you not have a heart? Do you not care about me? I am not going to cut off all ties to them! I love them! Don't you love me?" Kelsey asked, hurt radiating in her eyes. She was really shocked that her father would do this to her. She thought he cared more than that. Kelsey felt her heart break even more as she heard her mother speak. Her words touched Kelsey in a way that she never felt before. Kelsey really liked this new side of her mother. She loved how caring and loving she was now. Kelsey felt tears of love radiate in her eyes as she looked at her mother. She couldn't help but run over to her mother and pull her into a warm hug.
"Okay I will stay and talk it over mum, just for you. You have no clue how long I've wanted to hear you say that you wanted me to stay," Kelsey said leaning back from the hug and smiling at her mother. She handed her bag over to her mother and felt a little better. However her mind was not made up just yet. She would negotiate with her parents until they were forced to come to her terms and believe me, they would not like her terms at all.

“Yeah, he screwed that up for you.”
Robert glanced at Mandy. "Thanks for the fucking reminder," he grumbled. He knew that he was a horrible father from the beginning. Okay, maybe not the beginning. When Anton was born he was the happiest guy to ever walk to earth. He had a beautiful wife, a handsome son, and he was well on the way to the glorious path of a Death Eater. Robert just wished that he knew back then, that so called glorious path was far from glorious. No, he had screwed things up when he agreed to let Bellatrix make Kelsey - his youngest precious little girl - into a horocrux. Robert should have just said no but, his own ambition, pride, maybe even a bit of fear ruled over his proper senses. He never really thought about what it meant in the long run. Now, Robert dearly wished he would have had thought about it more back then. "I can handle Bellatrix. Truth be told, I've had secret meetings with her before. She started to train me to become a death eater, but I backed out because of James. We have an understanding though. She would not harm me," Robert frowned. Well no shit Sherlock. Bellatrix wasn't going to hurt her horocrux, unless she wanted to die herself. That wasn't going to happen either. He faintly recollected Kelsey mentioned something to him once about Bellatrix trying to train her. Robert had been pretty upset about it at first. Being a Death Eater was not the life he wanted his children to have. Well, not anymore anyway. At one point in time, he had hoped that Anton would but, that wasn't really ever going to happen. "I can get you home schooled for a while until you get back on your feet and Robert fires that bastard Lestrange.” Home schooling? Why hadn't he thought of that before? There - that was there solution. However, a small snort escaped Robert. He looked at Mandy as she stated the impossible. Fire Lestrange. Robert laughed. He actually laughed for a few seconds. Fire Lestrange! That was just too funny. Ha, fire Lestrange! Maybe if Robert had a death wish - although he was very close to it - he would fire Lestrange. Hell would freeze over before Lestrange left Hogwarts willingly. "I'm sorry," Robert apologized shaking his head. "Did you just say when I fire Lestrange? If you wanted me dead all you had to do was say so. Firing Lestrange would probably be the last thing I ever attempted to do before I'm six feet under the fucking ground," he said. What was Mandy doing, living in a box? Robert had to remember, she hadn't joined the Death Eaters. Right now, Robert was extremely glad that she had turned it down. Things could possibly be worse if she was. ".. What if you know, the teacher is a creep like Jack and tries to.. you know," "Your mother can teach you," he said instantly, without even thinking about it. "We'll - " his voice broke slightly using the term 'we'. "We won't let anything ever happen to you like that again. Ever." he said fiercely. Robert silently called Lestrange a thousand different names. That bastard was going to pay for it. One day, when he least expected it, he was the one that was going to get raped. Well, maybe not actually raped but, killed hopefully. "Well it is just kinda hard to believe. I mean you not drinking! I cannot see you without a drink in your hand. It is impossible," Robert guiltily looked to the floor. It was true. He couldn't do anything without drinking. All the more reason to stop. Robert couldn't remember what he was like before he started drinking. He must have been a more pleasant person to be around then. He most certainly was a better father and husband then. Robert knew he couldn't blame alcohol for his life. He could only blame himself, and the alcohol for making it worse - making him do stupid things like cheat on his wife. Being drunk was a pitiful excuse. One he wasn't planning on using because half the time he wasn't really drunk exactly. “Don’t listen to him Kelsey. You can’t go." "You would be willing to stop talking to me all together and not let me talk to my own husband or mother? Do you not have a heart? Do you not care about me? I am not going to cut off all ties to them! I love them! Don't you love me?" "Okay I will stay and talk it over mum, just for you." Robert looked at Mandy like she was crazy. He knew what he was talking about. If Kelsey had a chance away from all this, it was essential that she detached all connections she had to the wizarding work entire. It was the only way. No, he was willing! Of course not, what father wants to his only daughter leave him? Not him. He might not be the best father in the world but, he wasn't heartless. They just didn't fucking understand, and it was pissing him off. Still, besides all that, Kelsey's words cut deep in his heart. It wouldn't be the first cut sustained by something she had said to him. Robert was surprised there was anything left, or was there? He watched as Kelsey and Mandy had their moment. Robert felt his knees give out to the crushing weight, and he slide defeated to the floor. He stared at it, as if he was in a drunken state, though he was unfortunately from from such a state. Robert was more perplexed and finally just broken down. He couldn't take this anymore. The constant questioning if he loved his family by his family. Didn't they just know, did they have to ask and make him question himself every time? Robert went rather limp like a wet noodle. He continued to stare at the floor, unable to look either Kelsey or Mandy anymore. Once again, he had fucked up. He should be the one to disappear and never come back. He could survive as a muggle. At least Robert knew he was good at one thing, drinking. He could just open a pub or something somewhere far away...some warm island maybe. Then he could just forget all of this. Everything he ever did to make this moment what it was. All the pain, anger, and guilt he had battled away were battling back. Robert was losing the war with himself. Years of those worst emotions had more firepower than he did. He couldn't hold it back anymore. Robert LeBlanc was actually going to break - and he didn't care. His eyes stung, and his sight went all watery and distorted. The color of the wooden floor blended with his shoes as he blinked, silently crying. words; holy cheese balls! 1237! menote; told you he was going to cry. e p i c. [/blockquote]

Mandy looked at him Robert, clearly not amused with him at the moment, “You said it, I’m just backing you up.” She mumbled back to him groggily. This family had enough drama to do them a lifetime. They all had their own individual problems, each bringing the other down. Why did it have to be her family? Why did she have to fret over their dysfunctional arguments? Why did Bellatrix choose Kelsey as horocrux? There was so many questions that needed answered and no one to answer them. It was an awful feeling to be left in the dark. To be unaware of what the hell was going on. It was how Mandy had felt when Bellatrix took Kelsey one evening, she didn’t know where they where bringing her daughter or when they where bringing her back for that matter, and Robert had earned himself a punch in the face from trying to stop her from taking their daughter back. She was returned soon after looking just as she always had, and after some questioning she had found out what had happened to her baby girl. It was a tragic story really.
Mandy found herself rather shocked by her daughter’s words, she was actually going to follow the deatheaters. Sighing in relief as she admitted she had changed her ways, “I am so glad you took the brains after me, I’m glad all my children have.” A small grin appeared on her lips as she spoke her words, “You’d only be wasting your life away if you joined them.” Mandy mumbled, taking a quick glance at Robert and then back to Kelsey.
She hoped her daughter would consider the option, a little persuasion wouldn’t hurt anyone. Turning her head slowly to look at Robert as he released a small laugh, what was his problem? “Yes I said fire Lestrange, has your hearing disappeared aswell as your senses?” Mandy snapped at him, clearly beginning to get agitated. “Fine, if you wont fire him, I will. But are you really going to just stand by and let him do this to your daughter, aren’t you even going to try to fight back? What is there to be afraid of?” She retorted hot-headedly, becoming more angered with his words. She had never met this Jack Lestrange nor had she ever planned to, but now that the situation has changed, she was positive she’d be paying a visit to him incredibly soon. “You know, just leave it. I should have known better…” Mandy trailed off, deciding not to get herself too worked up over it.
“Yeah because I have the qualifications of a teacher…” She didn’t even bother looking at Robert, instead she just rolled her eyes and them smiled at Kelsey. “I guess I could teach you a few things until things get sorted out.” Sorted out meaning until she stuck her wand up Jack Lestrange’s ass. There was no way in hell she was allowing him to get away with such a thing, and Robert seemed pretty set on doing something about it too.
“Stop looking at me like that!” She finally cracked, she hated that he was looking at her as if she had four heads. “I am trying to fight for my daughter to stay with me, I don’t need your ‘she’s crazy’ kind of looks.” Mandy sighed while tugging on a lose curl. All the tension in the room was making them all chew each other’s head off, they needed some alone time, so as this was over, she was going out.
Even Kelsey’s words had shocked her slightly, she had really put Robert on the spot. Not once in their years of arguments had she said something with so much emotion to her, yes they had called each others bitches, and how much the hated each other, but none of it cut deep like that and that was why it had shocked her so much. Her gaze faltered from Kelsey to Robert, who was evidently cut deep by the words that where spoken, causing much regret and guilt in her heart. A hug pulled her from her thoughts of compassion for Robert and she embraced her daughter in a loving hug, “I’m so glad you’ve changed your mind.”
That’s when Robert’s legs gave in and he fell to the floor, almost in defeat. Mandy’s heart weakened at the sight, she chewed on her lower lip nervously not knowing what to do. He had cheated, he didn’t love her anymore, she shouldn’t even be on speaking terms with him, but she couldn’t pull herself to do it. Walking over to Robert, she kneeled beside him and wrapped her arms around him securely as he cried silent tears. In all their years of marriage, Mandy couldn’t remember the last time she had seen him so shaken up like this. “It’s okay,” She whispered, trying her best to comfort her possible ex-husband.

When Kelsey was little, she always pictured herself with the most perfect life when she was older. She had never ever expected this to happen. Now Kelsey had probably one of the most screwed up lives in history. Why did she deserve this? No one knows. It was almost as if some crazy evil genius of a girl was sitting behind a screen, plotting out ways to make her life more miserable. What kind of a person would do such a thing? An amazing one!
Kelsey really didn't know how she felt about homeschooling just yet. She was about to think about is some more when she heard her father say something that made her frown. He was not going to fire Jack. Kelsey felt her heart leap out of her chest. How could he not fire Jack? The fucking man raped her violently. Was Robert going mental or something? If it was up to Kelsey he would have already left the castle. Kelsey felt the blood in her body begin to boil. Did her father really not care about her well being?
"What the fuck do you mean you are not firing Jack?! Are you just going to let him wander around the castle like he owns the place and let him do this to some other girl? That is another reason why I don't want to go back to the castle! I have to constantly see if he is anywhere near me. I can feel his eyes on me in the great hall. I had to drop one of my favorite classes because he was the professor and yet here you are, allowing that sick bastard in the school?" Kelsey said in an angry voice. How could her father do this to her? Why would he be such a scared chicken and not face up to Jack! He could take Jack, or at least she hoped that he could.
"Maybe I could give school one last try, if I stay. Then when it becomes too much for me I can just come home for a couple of days and spend some time here with you mum. But its only if I stay," Kelsey stated, making sure to stress the if she stays part. She was still not entirely sure if she could just yet. However, she was leaning more towards the staying part. Her mother needed her, and she needed her mother. She needed her mother more than she ever thought that she would.
Then as Kelsey stood there she witnessed something that she never thought would happen in her entire lifetime. There was her father, on the ground, crying. Kelsey felt as though her jaw dropped to the ground. This was the first time she had ever seen her father display so much emotions. She felt her whole body numb as she stood there as if she was frozen in time. No words dared to come out of her lips. Pangs of guilt flooded her body as she watched her father cry. This was her fault. She had caused him so much grief that he finally cracked like an egg. Kelsey watched as her mother, to her surprise, walked over to him and wrapped her arms around him. Maybe there was still hope for them yet. Kelsey could feel the love between them, even if they couldn't. Kelsey walked over to the staircase and sat down on the stairs, putting her head in her hands. The silence in the room provided no comfort for her. She felt as though she needed to say something to her father. Running a hand through her hair, Kelsey looked up above the stair railing and looked at her father and mother.
"I.. I'm sorry dad. I won't leave and I'll go back to Hogwarts with you. Just please don't cry," Kelsey said in a voice barely above a whisper. She felt tears also form in her eyes. Seeing her father cry was making her also feel really emotional. She felt as though it was her fault as to why he was crying and it was not helping her new no more crying policy. She knew she couldn't leave anymore, not after she had witnessed that.

“You’d only be wasting your life away if you joined them.”
Robert rolled his eyes. Here they were, having a family crisis, and they were nip-picking at each other. He more or less just let her comment slide. Robert was trying, really trying not to do anything stupid at the moment. He was itching to say something but bit his tongue. Now wasn't a good time. It wasn't about them, it was about Kelsey, her well being, her future. She was what was important at this second. It bothered him that Mandy was chosing now to pick at him but, he had set himself up for it. He had no one to blame but himself, as always. Robert didn't view his time as a Death Eater as a waste of life. It just...complicated things. He had began to think it wasn't the right decision. He was young and ambitious. Robert wanted to make a name for himself, keep his new bride happy, along with his acquired in laws and his own father. Roberth had felt so much pressure to join that he never stopped to think about whether or not he wanted to. He never thought about the possible consquences of his actions until quite recently. Robert dearly wished he could turn back the clock twenty years and fix everything. "... aren’t you even going to try to fight back? What is there to be afraid of?”
"What the fuck do you mean you are not firing Jack?!"
Robert's face snapped back to seriousness. "The only way you," he pointed at Mandy, "Are ever going to even look at Lestrange is over my dead body." He could only imagine what Lestrange could possibly do to the rest of his family. Robert was barely holding things together. If one more thing happened, to anyone he held close, Robert was just going to lose it. "Neither of you have any idea what that monster is capable of. Sure, I could try to fire him but, it'd be my funeral," he said, looking between Kelsey and Mandy. Attempting to fire Jack would be his easy way out. Sure, Jack would refuse most likely and then, who knows what. The situation was practically unpredictable and Robert wouldn't have control. He didn't the concept of not having control, especially with something like that. It was a delicate matter. Robert knew he had to make Mandy and Kelsey understand that. "I'd like to do more than fire Lestrange but, he won't be that easy to get rid of. If you really want me to try, I will," Robert sighed. That was just insane. "Be prepared to pick out a casket for me," he grumbled. The world was crashing on him. Robert didn't have control of things. That was driving him insane. He couldn't even control himself, he had no self control. He'd lost it somewhere down the broken road he was on. Everything he had built up for himself, his family, had crashed and burned in front of him. Robert hated himself, more than the hate he knew his family must feel toward him. He didn't blame them. He had messed up everyone's lives, and for what? Look at where he was now. A middle-aged man, crying on the floor of his front hall. Robert felt lifeless. Everything that could go wrong, had. He had the looming feeling that things were going to get worse before they got better. What was worse than this? It was then that he felt it, well her actually. Robert felt Mandy's arm wrap around him and heard a comforting whisper. He didn't think there was anything to make this better. He didn't move. Robert only shook his head. It wasn't ok. This was not ok. He wasn't ok. He looked at Mandy, wondering what had happened between them. Robert knew she wasn't the bitch he complained she was. Underneath the act, he knew his wife was an actual woman. He remembered exactly when he fell in love with her, and he still did. She wasn't what had changed, it was him. It was all on his shoulders. Robert wanted to touch her, kiss her, tell he was sorry for everything. He just couldn't bring himself to do it. Robert knew he didn't deserve to. He didn't have the right to anymore. He knew he couldn't see it but, he knew that what he said - the coming out of his continual affair had hurt her. Robert drew in a deep breath. He wanted to say something but, he didn't know where to start or even how. He moved his watery eyes to Kelsey as she said something. "If you don't feel safe," Robert said, his voice thick with emotion, "you don't have to go back." words: 864ish tags: kelsey&mandy notes: see, robert does have a soul. it's just buried. =] [/blockquote]

She was furious but, who could blame Mandy? She refused to stand back and allow the man who raped her daughter roam around a school, which parent’s send their children with the highest regards and full expectations that they would be protected and under constant supervision. What if it got out? That children where being violated and taken advantage of? Hogwarts would cease to exist, after hundreds of years of open doors. It wasn’t just a school, but a home to many. Home was supposed to be a secure place, not a territory where rapists roamed.
Mandy listened to Kelsey explode, revealing the same anger that Mandy felt. If Robert refused to fire Jack then what other option did she have? If she had to, she would barge into Hogwarts and force her foot so far up Jack Lestrange’s ass that he’d be screaming for allowance to leave. Mandy wasn’t letting Kelsey return to Hogwarts unless the situation was cleared up. Home-schooling was the best option in Mandy’s mind, it meant that she could watch over Kelsey while she was learning, it would mean she’d have to take a leave from her job but she was more than willing for the protection of her daughter.
Looking at Robert as he set the rules straight, Mandy pursed her lips, arguing with herself whether she should fight back or not. “Who’s stopping me?” She asked, arching an eyebrow, almost daring him. “If I want to go hunt him down, I will. If I want to protect my daughter I have to, because it seems her father isn’t so willing.” Looking at him, Mandy was trying to be careful not to set him off, but it was hard. Being together for twenty odd years, she knew exactly what to say to piss him off and she used that advantage when she felt like it. But somehow, right now wasn’t the right time to start bickering.
Mandy wanted to know why people feared him, what was so frightening about the man, apart from the fact he was Bellatrix’s son. “Why did you hire him in the first place?” Mandy asked, chewing on her lower lip, “What is there to fear? Is he bigger than you? Stronger perhaps? Or is he just a ‘better’ wizard than yourself?” Trailing her fingers through her hair in frustration, Mandy didn’t feel like talking about it anymore. Perhaps they could leave the argument for another day.
She had no idea what was running through Robert’s mind, but she knew his heart was breaking. He was the type of man who put the blame on himself, took more stress than necessary. Moving her hand up and down his back in a soothing manner, she moved her free hand to wipe his tear stained cheek. Robert was the male figure their family looked up to, depended on, witnessing him cry, fall in defeat was a lot to take in, that was for sure. It just goes to show that even someone with a strong exterior had an incredible vulnerable interior.
Mandy only had the ability to look at him for a moment or two before she turned to look at Kelsey, who seemed to regret speaking the words she had only just pronounced moments ago. As she apologized to Robert, Mandy moved to her feet slowly, taking her husband’s hand while she did. “Come on, get up,” She said in a soft tone. This was too much drama for one day, she needed a drink of coffee or something.

Every ounce of energy in Kelsey's body had been drained from all of the stress. It was like stress had become her new best friend and she hated it. She just wanted one day, one lousy day, where she could be stress free and be as close to normal as possible. Kelsey knew that she would never have an entirely normal life, but it was fine. She just wanted that one day of no stress.
Kelsey listened as her parents talked about Jack and she began to think. Her father did have a point. Jack would surely kill him if he fired him. Kelsey knew her father couldn't go after him. It was just she had been so angry that she felt as though she would take her anger out on her father. Then she realized something. All her life other people were fighting her battles for her. She was tired of that. She wanted to take her life into her own hands and do something about it and this is where she would start.
"No one will be going after Jack, or firing him, or getting themselves killed. Jack is my problem, and I will take care of him one way or another," Kelsey said in a more than serious tone. She would make sure that she was the one to hurt Jack for what he did to her. She didn't know how she would do it though. Maybe she would hide behind a bookcase and kill him quickly or she could tie him to a chair and rip out his insides one by one. Either way she would get her revenge, even if it was the last thing she ever did in her life.
As Kelsey watched her father cry she realized that she had been taking him for granted. All he ever wanted to to is make sure she was safe and here she was, constantly calling him a bad father. Maybe he wasn't the bad father but she was the bad daughter. After all, some people would kill to have a father as protective as Robert was. Kelsey felt pangs of guilt run through her body as she looked at what she did to her father. Never had she felt a feeling as bad as this before her in entire life.
"No dad, I want to go back. I will feel safe as long as you are in the castle with me. Can I just stay here for the night? I am in no state to face any of my friends or the other children," Kelsey said, deciding to stay. What was she thinking trying to run away? Kelsey would of had no clue as to where to go. Hell she could of probably ended up in more trouble than she could of ever imagined. She needed to be with her family for the first time in her life. Kelsey never thought that she would value her messed up family as much as she did at that moment.
"Dad, mom, I'm sorry for everything, all of the drama I have caused, all of the mistakes I've made. And.. well, I'm sorry for running off and getting married without telling you guys," Kelsey said, looking at the ground as she sat on the stairs. This was the first time that she ever apologized to her parents for getting married without their consent. She knew she had to though. It was the one thing that they had wanted to be at in her life and she had deprived them of that moment. In her eyes, she should win the worst daughter of the year award.

Robert wanted to just....punch a hole in the wall or something. His eyes burned a glare at Mandy. He knew, she knew, how to set him off. The whole 'father is willing to' bit really pissed him the fuck off. More so than he showed. Robert just wanted to smack the woman for saying something like that to him. He thought of it but, he would never act upon that feeling. Never. Instead, Robert used other objects to take his anger out on when it was needed. "You think I don't want to protect her?" he spat angrily. "Of course I do! Why the hell wouldn't I? Getting rid of him is not that easy."
Why did you hire him in the first place?”
"I didn't," Robert said, matter-of-fact like. "He kind of just swooped and in and took the place. Look, there was nothing I could do about it. It's not like I expected any of this to happen," he explained, still angry. "I've heard through the grapevine that Jack has some sort of special ability - an advanced legilimens or something. He is a strong wizard, as much as I hate to admit," Robert answered. Robert's gaze turned to Kelsey as she said something about going after Jack. "Over my dead body," he said immediately. Robert was pretty sure what Jack did had something to do with him, he just wasn't sure what that was exactly. Even so, he wasn't about to let Kelsey try something stupid and get killed. Nu-huh, no way, no how that was not happening. "There is no way I'm going to let you even try to take him out," Robert said to Kesley. If anything worse to happen to Kelsey, Robert would be more than just a pathetic, sad, crying guy crumpled on the floor. Well, maybe at first he would be but, he was sure he wouldn't survive such an event. Fathers do not bury daughters. Robert closed his eyes, taking a few calm breaths. Now as not the time to cry in defeat. He knew he was suppose to be the strong one, to never crack and yet, he had. He was glad of one thing, he wasn't alone. It helped him immensely to know that in his moment of despair, his wife and daughter were there - despite that fact that one, or both hated him. They were there, and that's what mattered. It was then that a little light bulb in his head lite up like Christmas tree. It had been obvious his entire life, and it was only know that he realized it. His family meant everything to him. All this stress, worries, and anger revolved around them. The ambition he had as a younger adult had blinded him and robbed him of the important things - the important family moments, like Kelsey's wedding. Robert now knew what he had to do to make everything better again. Robert was glad to hear that Kelsey chose to stay. He didn't know what he would do if she did run away. He nodded to her request. "I can come back to get you in the morning," he said. Mandy could easily bring Kelsey back to Hogwarts as well but, he didn't want her there. He didn't trust Jack anymore, and he didn't really trust Mandy to be in the same building as him either. If he did everything, it would be safer for all for them. He looked up at Mandy, as she touched his cheek. Her touch warmed his heart, as hard as that was to believe. Robert boldly took her hand, the one that was against his cheek and he held her hand there for the briefest of moments before letting go. He saw things so much clearer now. With a lighter heart, Robert stiffly got to his feet. He made sure not to let go of Mandy's hand after he was for a moment, giving her hand a light squeeze before letting go. After Kelsey spoke her apology, Robert didn't say anything. In fact, he simply just strode over to her, and pulled her up into a hug. He kissed the top of her head. Robert didn't care anymore that she went and got married, although he was still upset to have missed such a day. Letting go of Kelsey, Robert stood back, and looked between Mandy and Kelsey. He cleared his throat. "I meant what I said. I'm going to quit drinking. It won't be easy," he said with a nod, "But, I'm going to try my hardest to stop." Robert next concentrated on Mandy, as this part was more for her to hear. He wanted Kelsey to hear it too though. "If you think you can deal with me enough to work through all this....I'll never lie to you again. I shouldn't have even..." he stopped, not wanting to say the word cheat. "If anyone should be sorry here, it's me," he added after a brief pause. [/blockquote]

So she pushed the big red button that said in huge bold writing ‘DO NOT TOUCH’ much to her own stupidity. Why did people do that? Why did they ignore the obvious signs, how obvious can one thing possibly get? It pissed Mandy off when people did that, and there she was doing it. The result of touching the big red button was Robert’s anger had soared to a completely different new level. Almost wanting to take a step back as the glare was shot her way, Mandy was pretty positive that Robert was ready to charge at her at any second now. Maybe she should tell him to breath considering the chances that he’d take a heart attack where increasing with each word that escaped her lips. Instead, Mandy remained silent and let him argue with her, not wanting to make things worse.
Still silent, Mandy listened to Robert answer her question and as it sank in, there was no doubt in Mandy’s heart. The chances of Lestrange having some special ability was big. “No one expected any of this to happen…” She mumbled, quickly glancing at her daughter. No one expected her daughter to run of and get married, no one expected her to get raped, no one expected her to be a victim of alcoholism, no one ever expected the unexpected.
Mandy closed her eyes as she heard Kelsey voice. “No Kelsey.” Mandy said in a straight forward tone, opening her eyes and looked at her daughter, “Just leave Jack to someone who knows what they’re doing.” And that would not be her, she’d just end up pouncing on the sick bastard. “I just don’t want you near him. Please Kelsey, listen to me and your father.” Mandy said, wanting her daughter to respect her wishes and take them into consideration. There was a lot worse Jack Lestrange could do than just rape Kelsey, but Mandy didn’t want to even think about that.
There had to be some kind of arrangements they could make. Mandy didn’t want to be sitting at home just worrying about her children’s safety all the time. She wanted to be able to see them, talk to them, as regularly as possible. There was a possibility that they could somehow spend a few weekends at home instead of Mandy constantly worrying that something disastrous was happening. It killed her knowing that she wasn’t able to help her daughter in her time of need, she was probably sitting chatting away while her little girl was getting raped. What kind of mother as she?
It was nice to hear that Kelsey actually wanted to stay at home, it was a change, a nice change that Mandy could get used to. Hearing Robert’s plan, confusion swept her features, “Why can’t I just bring her? It’ll save you the hassle. I think I’m going to visit Anton tomorrow anyway,” She said with a small shrug, not exactly catching on to why Robert didn’t want her to bring Kelsey.
Mandy caught her breath, her heart raced as she felt Robert’s hand pressing hers against his cheek. Hope quickly filled her, maybe it wasn’t the end yet. Staring at him, their hands, a sense of relief and safety washed over her. Why now? Why was she feeling like this now? Because it was only now she realized what she was taking for granted. She had a husband, who had protected, loved and completely stole her heart. As he took his stand and gave her hand a quick squeeze, she didn’t hesitate to return it before letting go.
Robert’s words where the only words she wanted to hear at that moment in time. She wanted to believe and hope he would stop, she wanted to be able put everything behind them and try to start a fresh, she just wanted to be happy, was that so wrong? “Yeah, I’ve dealt with you for the last twenty years and I think I can deal with you for a little while longer.” A small smile crept onto Mandy’s lips as she moved towards Robert, wrapping her arms around her husband and embracing him in a small hug. “I’m sorry too…“ It amazed her how quickly things can go from bad, to worse and then get better.
