Anton couldn't believe the piece of parchment that sat in the palm of his hand. He was currently sitting in the middle of the grounds cross legged, a look of astonishment on his face. The letter was from his father, saying that he wanted to talk. What was there possibly to discuss? Then a terrible thought entered his mind. He had heard about his engagement to Dominique Weasley and he was going to set his son straight. This was only going to end one way because Anton wasn't going to fight his own father. It was something Anton was refusing to do, a promise to himself to help his family keep whatever they had at the moment together. He folded the parchment back up and stood up from the ground. The clouds were out, but it really didn't matter. The sun had ducked behind the mountains, so Anton was free to roam about where he pleased. And the only place he didn't want to, he had to go.
Anton's feet felt like they weighed a thousand pounds. It was his body's response to knowing what was waiting for him in his father's office. He wished he could just ditch him, leave him waiting in his office, but that wasn't a possibility. The only things that Anton could think about were Dom, and how she was in even more danger now that his father heard about their engagement. And also if his father had a plan. Anton vowed he would go after jack, even before he found out that kelsey had been raped by the bastard. But now, his father might have a plan on how to take down the sicko. He finally reached the portrait to his father's office, which held a panther. Every time he walked past, it was a reminder of how much hate he felt towards his dad, and how much he loathed talking to him. The entire time up the stairs, he tried to distract himself of any and all negative thoughts, but they kept coming up. The worst pertained to his mother.
The engagement between Anton and Dom wasn't something that should be surprising. This was the only girl that he had ever really loved, and he was the only boy she had loved. The night that he proposed was so perfect and he learned he could push himself to kiss her, even more than just kissing, without putting her in danger. He truly loved her and she truly loved him. Together forever. But there was still one person that he need approval from. His mother. Anton doubted that she would disapprove of Dominique after she met her, and there was no way that she would react the way his father did when he heard about Dom and him being an item. Soon enough, he was at the top of the stairs, knocking on the door. He pushed it open and said with annoyance. " What did you want?" He couldn't see who was in the office immediately, so he just waited until the door was open all the way.

Life had come to disappoint Mandy, happiness was a mere illusion that no longer existed in her life. However, she wasn’t depressed, reality had just hit home. What had happened to her ambitions, her big dreams? They where shattered, torn and stripped from her. Having a headstrong father, and a controlling mother never went down well in family life. In the younger years of Mandy’s life, arguments, screaming, hexes and much more filled her home, on a regular basis. She couldn’t say her childhood was relatively normal, or a happy one for that matter, and because of Mandy, her own family could no longer say the same.
Although Mandy would never admit it, but there had been several occasions when she was on the verge of leaving this life, taking all her possessions with her and leaving all her memories behind. The only thing that kept her there was the five children that she had raised.
Things weren’t working out, sitting at home and crying over things that couldn’t be reversed. The only thing that would comfort her would be seeing her children again, pictures no longer gave warmth to her empty heart. It was evident that Mandy was now seeing the bigger picture, money no longer revolved around her happiness, she wasn’t the centre of attention, her main concern and focus was on her children now, it was a sad fact that to make this happen, to help her realize this, Kelsey had to be raped.
Wrapping the beige trench coat around her small body, untying her long brunette hair, allowing it to fall over her shoulders and pushing the large sunglasses over her puffy, red eyes, Mandy Leblanc left her estate. Where was she going exactly? To find the comfort she needed, to the place where her children resided, Hogwarts.
“I’m sorry Mrs Leblanc, your husband has been gone for a few hours now.” The Deputy Headmistress confirmed, looking at Mandy through curious eyes. There had only been rare, very rare occasions when Mandy would visit the school, let alone her own husband. Not that it mattered, she wasn’t here to visit Robert, actually, he couldn’t have picked a better time to part from Hogwarts. If he was here, they would probably have some argument over money, or the children. It was always the same argument, it was always the same dead conversations, it was always the same with Robert and Mandy, and because of this, Mandy usually wondered why the remained married. They would both be better people if they separated…
Sending an owl to Anton, her oldest child, Mandy forged Robert’s handwriting, wanting to surprise Anton. Her oldest son seemed to be the only family member that actually had a civilized relationship with his mother, the rest of the children either already despised her or was slowly getting there. She had made so many mistakes when it came to raising her children, not being there when they needed her, usually referring them to a nanny to care for them when she was busy with work, it was obvious that Mandy was not made to be a mother.
Breaking off from her thoughts, Mandy sat at the edge of Roberts table, holding a few letters that she had absentmindedly began to read while waiting on Anton. When the door opened, she removed her sunglasses, revealing her puffy eyes once again and smiled at her son, who obviously thought he was talking to Robert ,“Is that the way to speak to your mother?” She asked still smiling as she approached her son, embracing him in a hug. “It’s so good to see you again.” Mandy told him, clearly happy to see her son again. “How have you been?” She took the chance to ask after breaking her embrace and returning to her former position on the edge of the desk.

The relationship between Mandy and Robert LeBlanc was very strained. Every moment that Anton was in the room with them, he could feel the tension, the hatred that they felt towards each other. When they were separate, Anton loved the atmosphere. When they were apart, the opportunity to be close to the individual parents was great. But once they were reunited, it turned sour. He just wished that they could hide it more for the sake of their own children. Anton hated seeing them feud, and he never wanted to pick sides. His father made it relatively easy to chose, since he was never around. His mother really did love him, she just wasn't the nurturing type. Whenever he needed something, he was told to go to a nanny, or to someone else. It never phased him, and he loved his mother just as much as before.
Once he realized that it was his mother in the room, and not his father, relief poured over him. He wasn't going to have to deal with his father's endless questioning, tormenting. He wouldn't have to worry about his safety for the rest of the night. He was also slightly disappointed, only because he wasn't going to be able to plot the downfall of Jack Riddle that night. He would take this trade anytime though. "Mum?" He smiled, showing his relief, but careful not to show his canines. He was going to tell her, just not right that second. He was so self-conscious of his appearance lately. His skin was pale, so pale that it was noticeable. He hated it. And then his eyes, they were a deep red, the color of blood. And then everything else was enhanced. His muscles more prominent, his hair color was brighter, a more vibrant sandy blond. He just didn't want to stand out anymore. "I'm so glad that it's you in this office." Her voice was so soothing, a voice he hadn't heard in a while.
"I'm, erm, good. Just stress with school and a few other things. How have you been? I feel like it's been ages since i was home." It was true. Most of the time when the students of Hogwarts got to choose whether or not they went home for the holidays, Anton stayed at the school. He just didn't like to be a part of their drama, and he didn't want to add to it. Hence hiding as long as he could from his father before letting him know he was a vampire. And now he needed to tell his mother. The one woman he didn't want to tell the most. What would she think? It was the same questions over and over in his head that passed when he told kelsey. Mandy was the second to last person he needed to tell, and he planned on telling her last. But, with him standing there looking all gorgeous, more than before, she was sure to notice, and point it out. He would have no choice to tell her everything. Especially about the engagement. Hopefully she would be excited about that. Hell, he would even let her plan the entire thing if it made her happy. This needed to be something enjoyable for all of the LeBlanc's, except for Robert, who would never agree.

Over these last few, torturing and tormenting days, Mandy had brought herself to realize what meant most to her in life. That was why she was here today, to make sure she wasn’t taking what she had for granted. Mandy had cleared up things with Kelsey and now she wanted to make sure everything was still well with her eldest son. She was much more aware of everything now, she knew that one day you could have something and the next, it was gone. She didn’t want that to happen again, especially not concerning one of her children. Everything seemed to be disappearing in front of her very eyes, her happiness, her husband, and almost her daughter, and she sure as hell wasn’t letting Anton or Vince go anywhere, that was for sure.
Distance made the heart grow fonder, and seeing her son once again, a sense of happiness washed over her. “Look at you, you’re so handsome!” She blasted, a bright smile on her lips, though it slowly began to fade, “…and kind of pale, are you feeling okay?” Mandy asked, tilting her head to the side. Her young son was looking as good as ever, there was certain glow of him, he was much more broader, and his hair was so much lighter since their last meeting. See, it was these kinds of things Mandy was missing! She could no longer see her son grow into a young man, or her daughter become a young lady, she didn’t get the privilege while Robert did, and she was sure as hell he didn’t even appreciate it. Perhaps she was jumping a head of herself, but Mandy envied Robert’s job, being able to be close to their children, being able to be there when they needed him. No one understood how much she wanted that, how much she needed that. Especially being home alone while all of her family where here, being able to see each other, talk to each other. And that, was the reason Mandy spent most of her days shopping, waste money on useless things, just to keep herself distracted from her family.
“Stressed?” Mandy frowned at her son’s words, school had always managed to do that to her too, she was just thankful to get out of the place and start her life, instead though she ended up getting engaged and had to settle down at the age of eighteen. The last thing she wanted for Anton, and Kelsey, but she had already made the mistake to run off and get married. She’d regret it in the future, Mandy was sure of it. Then he asked how she had been. The question was rather hard to answer. Could she tell him that she and his father were heading straight for divorce, that she had been feeling like crap for weeks now, that she was slowly beginning to fall into the super massive black hole of depression? No. “I’ve been fine, just lonely at home. I had a visit from Kelsey and your father the other day though…it didn’t go down all that smoothly, but that’s a conversation for another day.” Managing to force a small smile onto her lips, she tangled her fingers through her curly locks. “So tell me, what have I been missing? You never come home anymore!” Mandy said in a disappointed tone.

She noticed. She noticed that her son was more pale than usual. And by the fair amount of time that she was looking at Anton, he realized that she was observing everything else about him that had become more enhanced. This wasn't what he wanted, but maybe he could pull it off. Ohhh he was such a bad liar though. His mother could always tell when something was up, and see right through his lies. Most of the time he would smile and give it away, but he had to try tonight to not give anything away. " Hmm? Oh yeah, i'm great." He forced a smile. "I guess i haven't been able to really get out in the sun with all the studying they are making me do." That was probably the worst excuse ever. Anton was known in the family as the explorer, the outside type. If his mother knew her son, she would know that he wouldn't chose studying over being outside in the sun, or the snow for that matter.
It was great though, seeing his mother. They hadn't been in the same room for at least three or four months, talked in possibly even longer. Her presence was so warm, and for a brief moment, all of his worries were washed away, the way it should be when you're with your parent, especially your mother. Lately, especially after his conversation with his father, Anton was wishing that his mum had gotten the headmaster position, but it hadn't happened that way. His dad did, and instead of using it to his advantage and getting closer to his children, he was driving them further away. Anton knew his mother would have been smarter than that, use the opportunity to pull the estranged family back together.
He listened to his mother as she said she was lonely. He felt sorry that he hadn't gone home for the holidays, at least wrote to her every once in a while. But then again, why didn't she? Kelsey had mentioned that Mandy spent most of her time shopping, maybe she really didn't love her children anymore. Or perhaps Kelsey was just making it up. Anton knew that she was bitter towards their mother, so it might be best to just discount her opinions. He raised his eyebrow when she mentioned that she had a conversation with Kelsey and his dad, and that it didn't end well. Anton wondered what that meant. Did someone get hurt? Was the family going to be torn even more apart? He pushed it to the back of his mind, knowing that if he added more stress to his life, he might collapse and go into a coma. Okay, a little over dramatic, but not impossible. His body was starting to slow down, despite the fact that he was a vampire, and he spent most of his time either sleeping, or laying down on his bed or in the forbidden forest.
"I haven't been up to a whole lot. I mean, what can a seventeen year old kid at Hogwarts get into?" He laughed slightly, answering the question in his head. Being turned into a vampire, getting engaged to the love of your life and being attacked by Lily Potter, oh and don't forget about Jack Riddle's threats. Maybe now was the best time to let it out about Dom. "I have met someone though. I'm sure you'll love her." His hands, which were at his side, went into his pockets; an attempt to hide the engagement ring. "She's the greatest girl i've ever met. Her name is Dominique, and she has the most gorgeous eyes out of anyone. Her hair is absolutely perfect, blond, she's smart, and funny.." He would have went on for days about his engaged, but luckily for his mother, he caught himself and stopped abruptly. "Sorry." If Anton could have blushed, he would have. One thing was let out, sort of, and if she inquired more about his physical change, he would oblige her with the truth. Her son was now a vampire.

Mandy had watched her son grow for the last seventeen years, strength to strength, she had watched the sickness wash over him and she had examined him regain his strength all over again. Even before sickness clasped him, Mandy was always able to sense it, the colour in his golden complexion drained, and the pale whiteness of his skin replaced his usual golden colour. Like now, he was incredibly pale and his skin looked like marble which clashed with his head of blond hair. ”Now Anton, in all the years I have known you, not once have you restricted yourself from the outside, and studying has never stopped that.” His response resulted in a small chuckle escaping her lips, even he should have known better not to lie to his mother. “Really though, are you positive? All the colour has been drained from your face.” Concern filled her voice as she crossed her arm over her chest and silently examined her son.
It brought her happiness, true happiness. Not the kind of happiness she obtained from shopping, this happiness was the joy of seeing her son, looking so well, as if he was the only one who had his life on track. It made her proud, to think this was her son and he was doing so well for himself, with nothing holding him down. There was nothing more in this world that made her want to see her son happy, to see him become the successful gentleman she knew he could become. She had hope for Kelsey and Vince too, but Kelsey was already side-tracked, with a marriage at the age of sixteen, an alcohol problem and she was a rape victim! Nothing anyone ever expected to happen to Kelsey. And then there was Vince, her youngest and most reserved child, he spoke when spoken to, but nothing much more than that, but she always assumed he’d come out of his shell sooner or later.
“Yes I suppose you’re quite right.” Mandy finally decided with a small smile. There was never much to do at the age of seventeen, you where too young to drink (allow most did anyway) and too old to run around. Looking at him as he finally revealed that he had met someone. Her heart leaped at the thought, it was the same when Kelsey admitted she had ran off and gotten herself a husband, who just happened to be a Potter. Not that Mandy minded of course, it was more of Robert’s problem than her own. A smile couldn’t help but crawl onto her lips as Anton continued to speak more of the girl, he seemed truly entranced by her, and Mandy couldn’t bring herself to annoyed or lecture him that ‘he was too young’ If she dared to say so herself, she’d say he was pretty much whipped. “Don’t apologize. I want to hear this kind of stuff, I want to know more.” She gestured him with a reassuring smile. Mandy enjoyed hearing about things that brought her children joy, because they too, brought her joy.

He could see the happiness welling up in his mother. Anton didn't want to tear that all away. She must have been thinking that he was the only normal, successful one in the family. Well in his mind, he was far from it. Granted, he found love when he was going through the worst time of his life, and death. And she would be happy to hear that his marks were top notch, but that all seemed to sound so good when nothing else that was going on was mentioned. If he were to tell her everything that was going on, he would rip it all away, become a disappointment in her eyes. That's not what he wanted and he wanted to be the only normal person in the family, like she thought he was.
He realized that he was still standing by the door, so he moved smoothly over to the chair across from where his mother currently resided. His new grace was... unusual for himself. Before, his gait was like any guy his size, and he was borderline clumsy. Luckily, he hardly ever tripped and never had to face the humiliation associated with it. Anton took the seat and faced Mandy. His hand was now out of his pocket, and he didn't care. The ring shone in the light of the room, and he knew that his mother would see it. Might as well let the cat out of the bag. "Mum, i know you've always said that marriage at a young age is a bad thing, but i have to disagree. Ummm, Dominique and I are sort of... Engaged." He looked to his mother's face to see what her reaction would be. Hopefully she saw that he loved her more than anything in this world, and she was the one that he was supposed to be with. They had already been through so much together and it just solidified their relationship even more.
Anton couldn't look at his mother any longer. He didn't want to see her face when it turned to disappointment. And that wasn't the only news that he had to break to her. One more inquisition on her part and he would have to tell her that he was a vampire, but it was too close to the engagement being let out. "Mum? I want you to help with the wedding. I know you have an eye for that kind of thing, and i hope you approve of it." For some strange reason, courage filled him and for once he wasn't afraid of what his mother thought. "And I don't care if you don't like the idea of me being married. It's my life, and i will do with it as i wish. It would mean a lot for you to care though." He looked back up at her with his brilliant red eyes. They were closer now and he was worried that she would be able to see that the pigment had changed. However, he didn't break his gaze and hoped she would figure it out before he had to tell her.

Post by Robert Victor LeBlanc on Feb 17, 2010 21:39:37 GMT -5
Robert had been out of his office for most of the day. He was on official Hogwarts business, believe it or not. He had several anxious parents that were getting on his nerves. He had to take care of them. No, he didn't kill them, as much as he would have liked. Instead, he went directly to their homes, and told them everything at Hogwarts was fine. The students were safe under his watch. Robert stressed that students were completely safe at Hogwarts. He fed the distressed parents everything they wanted to hear to make them feel better, even though he knew it was far from the truth.
By the time Robert was headed back to Hogwarts, he seriously wanted to bash his head into his skull. Lying to the worried parents was easy. Listening to all their crap over and over again was rather annoying. As a parent himself, he respected their concerns but seriously, oh Merlin, get this man a drink before he explodes. A good stiff drink was on Robert's mind now. He knew he couldn't have one. He'd quit drinking. It wasn't easy. It was hard as hell. Robert had sat at his desk with twitchy figures all morning before he had to answer concerned parents. A simple letter wouldn't do. He had to get out of his office.
Robert's hope that the trip would ease his urge to drink was slashed. He wanted a drink more than he did this morning. He knew when he said he'd quit that it wasn't going to be easy. Robert just wasn't prepared for it to be as bad as it is. He knew he was an alcoholic but, he hadn't really realized how bad until know. Still, Kelsey and Mandy had to know that it wasn't going to happen miraculously overnight. Robert was bound to slip up every now and then. He was human after all, as hard as that is to believe.
Upon his return to Hogwarts, Robert was informed by his Deputy Headmistress that his wife was here. Oh crap. This could go two ways. One, she was going to really leave him or two, she was going to kill him and then leave him. Robert sighed and he headed to his office with heavy feet and a heavy heart. Robert honestly couldn't understand why Mandy would want to stay with him anyway. He was an alcoholic on the shitty ass bumpy road of recovery and he pretty much destroyed their family from the beginning.
Reaching the top of the stairs, all that stood between him and a gray painted future was the door to his office. Robert swore he locked it but, he must have forgotten. Robert scratched his head and took several deep breaths. His hand reached out to the door and retracted back several times. Really Robert, grow a fucking pair, he told himself. It was just his wife in there, not a mob with pitch forks and torches - which could equally be just as scary as Mandy. Forcing himself, Robert turned the handle and walked in his office. He slowly came to stop after taking four steps in, closing the door quietly behind him.
Shit. It wasn't just Mandy. Anton was there as well. Robert could recognize his own son from behind. He hadn't really spoken to his son in a couple of weeks. Robert was still trying to digest the fact that his eldest son was a vampire and dating Dominique Weasley. He was growing less concerned with the Weasley girl. After all, his baby girl was married to a Potter - same family line. He was more worried about the vampire part. What if Anton lost it and hurt someone? Robert would much rather have that someone be him over anyone else.
Robert cleared his throat and realized he better say something but, what? He really had no clue what to say. Maybe just clearing his throat was enough. Robert slipped his hands in his pockets and toward Anton and Mandy. Robert eyed the table to the right well, left at the moment, of his desk. It was his 'secret' table where he kept his stores of alcohol. Well, really there was just a self refilling crystal bottle of fine Russian vodka. He could swear he heard it calling his name. Robert's eyes jumped from Mandy to Anton, and then back to Mandy. He cleared his throat, feeling extremely uncomfortable still clueless as to what to say.

This was the reason her children where the light of her life, the reason that she made it through the worst of days. They gave her something to look forward to, something to smile about. Anton in particular, her oldest, and wisest, she had high hopes for him and his future, she wanted him to be happy with whatever he chooses to do with his life. The thing she did know though was that he wouldn’t go through the rough patch Kelsey was experiencing, not yet anyway. He hadn’t taken after his father with alcoholism, he hadn’t cheated on a girlfriend (or she hoped not), he wouldn’t destroy the family he might have one day. If he went through life without doing any of that, then that would make Mandy the happiest mother around.
Mandy examined her son as he walked towards the chair, almost in a floating manner…wow, hold on! Anton walking in a floating manner? Her son was one of the most clumsiest people she had came across, she’d watched him walk into chairs more than enough times and he practically dragged his feet across the ground, not glided. Something seriously wasn’t right and as she was about to question him, a distraction was thrown her way. Anton took something out of his pocket, and Mandy’s jaw hit the floor. A gorgeous diamond ring, almost similar to the one she used to wear. Her heart was racing, she could feel her palms begin to sweat, a nauseous feeling came over her and she looked at her eldest son through widened eyes. That wasn’t what she thought it was. Oh hell yeah it was! Engaged…he was engaged. Mandy was conflicted with emotions, should she cry or smile, should she be sad or happy, should she lecture or congratulate? Mandy loved her son and she wanted him to be happy, if this Dominique made him happy then she had to join the family.
Placing a hand slowly over her mouth, her eyes filled slightly. “I’m so proud of you, you know that?” She cried, smiling at him. Mandy had just witness her boy become a man, he was making a decision, a life changing decision on his own. “I approve of your happiness Anton. And when can I ever say no to a wedding? Of course I’ll help out, I’ll take care of whatever is needed.” Mandy exclaimed, excitement washing over her. “I can’t believe you’re getting married! Let me see the ring!” She said, taking the ring off him and examining it, rather surprised at how beautiful it was, “It’s gorgeous, undeniably beautiful.” Those where the exact same words she described her engagement ring like, the rock that usually sat perched on her finger, reflecting its marvellous light to everyone. “It seems all my children are growing up. Kelsey and now you, next it’ll be Vince.” The young mother beamed brightly.
A throaty cough distracted her from her happiness, and her hazel eye’s met Robert’s who stood there staring at them. Turning her attention back towards the ring, she handed it back to Anton, “I’m sure it’ll look dazzling on her finger. So when am I meeting your fiancée?” Mandy asked anxiously, still forcing a smile to her lips, continuing as if Robert wasn’t even there.

If it was possible Dominique would never leave Anton’s side. She just wanted to be with him constantly because well one she was in love with him and two she felt safest in his arms. When she was in his arms nothing in the world could harm her. Dom was pretty sure no one would dare harm her as long as she was near Anton. Most people didn’t know he was a vampire but his size would scare off anyone. She always did compare him to a bear but with her he was her own teddy bear. Never before has she been in love and suddenly when Anton came into her life, he was the best thing. Dom never smiled like she did when she was with him and always felt so much better knowing her was close by. That was why she hated it when he went out hunting.
Even though she knew it was probably safer for her and after the first time she went with him; Dom would rather stay in the forest with him. She never ended up sleeping well when he went hunting. Couldn’t stop thinking about him. Even though there were plenty of other things on her mind that she should think about. Like how she would defeat a certain dark wizard. But really Dominique hasn’t thought about that. She liked keeping her thoughts happy and that would be thinking about her future life with Anton. Her fiancée. She really did love that word. They would spending the rest of their lives together and well it would probably be eternity. Anton couldn’t die as easily as a human and she was pretty sure that she wouldn’t be human forever. That conversation hasn’t come up yet and she was it would. Anton was rather quiet most of the time and didn’t even want to help that much with the wedding.
Today was one of those days that Anton had gone out to the forest. Sometimes she had thought about going after him but knew that wouldn’t be her smartest move. He would probably end up angry with her. So Dom walked around the castle acting like she was on prefect duty. For while she kept the side of the castle that she could keep a look out for her fiancée. After a while she become tired but still walked around. In a tried trance but still walking. Then that was when she noticed Anton going over to the staircase. That wasn’t a good staircase. It led up to Anton’s father office. What was he planning on doing? Not wanting to show Anton she was ‘stalking’ him she stayed behind and gave him a time limit. If he wasn’t down soon she would go up there. And then the Headmaster came by. And it looked like he has seen better days.
Waiting a few more moments she noticed that no one else was coming or coming down from the office. Taking a deep breath Dominique began her walk up the staircase wondering exactly how she would enter. Obviously going up there to get Anton. That was enough. Getting to the door that she as just at a few weeks ago and then being threatened by the Headmaster. Dom didn’t like him very much. Opening up the door, which wasn’t locked immediately she said, “Anton….?” Walking in she saw her fiancée sitting on a chair, the Headmaster just a few feet in front of her (just wonderful), and then a woman; who she has never seen before but was pretty sure it was Anton’s mother. She really didn’t want to go past the Headmaster but she walked around him, trying to not even look at him until she got to Anton. Dom gave him a smile and looked over at his mother. “Hi, I’m Dominique Weasley.”

Anton was overjoyed that his mother's reaction was happy for him. It was a huge relief that she supported him and wanted him to enjoy life the way he saw fit. She even said that she would help with the wedding. It just cemented her feelings of support into his mind and for the first time in a long time, he was happy with the relationship he had with this mother. "Mom, this means so much to me. Thanks for being so supportive. Father however, that's going to be a different story. What if he doesn't approve?" Anton was starting to get a little frantic. His father already hated Dom, so what would change his mind about a marriage. Sparks were going to fly when he saw his father again, and he wasn't looking forward to it. Not wanting to ruin the moment, he thought back to his mother's words. She was proud of him, a lot it seemed like. Her jaw had practically hit the floor, so she obviously wasn't expecting it. There was no lecture afterwards, so she obviously could see how much he loved Dom. The feeling of weightlessness returned and he was determined not to let his father's rain clouds pour down on his parade. He was getting married and there was nothing that his father could do to prevent it.
One thing still confused Anton. His mother had mentioned something about a conversation with Kelsey and their father, and it hadn't ended well. Then she mentioned that the wedding ring was gorgeous, absolutely beautiful. Every time she told the story of when Robert proposed, she used those words. With a quick glance to her left hand, he saw no wedding ring. That must have been what she meant when she said the conversation didn't end well. It hit him like a ton of bricks. His parents were going to be divorced in the near future. Anton knew of course that their marriage wasn't the greatest, but how could they get a divorce? They still had children in school, they needed to be role models for them, show their kids how to have a successful relationship. It was more disappointing than anything. He didn't want to see his parents split up.
"Mum, you and father aren't getting a divorce, are you?" Before he could even get an answer, there was a throat being cleared. He turned slightly in his seat and realized that it was his father. The sight of him was enough to send Anton into a terrible mood. This wasn't supposed to be the night that he told his father that he was engaged. This wasn't the night that he found out his parents were getting a divorce. The last time that they were together, Anton destroyed half of his office, then stormed out. Robert was so emotionless, it pissed Anton off. His entire family was falling apart right in front of him, and the only thing he was doing was drinking himself to oblivion. Now his wife was divorcing him. Despite his father walking in, he didn't say a word. Anton noticed his eyes flick to a cabinet next to his desk. It was no doubt his alcohol stores. After this night, maybe a drink might be best for the poor son of a bitch.
Anton looked back to his mother, an exasperated look on his face. "What the hell is he doing here?" He said quietly, more to himself than to his mother. It was not a good thing that now the man that the entire family couldn't stand was right there. From behind him, a blond girl walked in, only a few moments later. Anton's heart sank when he realized it was Dom. What was she doing? Why was she here? He knew that his father was going to do something stupid, most likely inflict physical damage, and Anton didn't want it to be to Dom. She was next to him in an instant, introducing herself to his mother. He rose quickly, too quickly out of his chair to be human and placed his hand in Dom's. She always said she felt safe in his arms, well he planned on testing that tonight. His father was a Death Eater after all, and that meant no mercy, not even to his own family. Anton figured introductions might be good for his mother, so he obliged.
"Umm, mom, this is Dominique. My fiancee." Anton took a quick glance at his father, wondering, knowing that he would catch that one word. The one word that meant everything in this situation. Mandy already knew her son was engaged, but Robert would go mad knowing his son was marrying a Weasley. He continued uneasily. "Looks like you get to meet her sooner than expected."

"...aren't getting a divorce, are you?"
Robert had caught the tail end of his sons sentenced as he approached them. He clenched his jaw. It wasn't really a question for him to answer. It was clear Anton had been asking Mandy and not himself. In fact, Robert was positive his presence was not welcoming to Anton. This was his office. He had every right to be here. Although, in a few seconds he would wish he wasn't here. He had asked Mandy for time. Robert was one seriously messed up guy, seriously messed up. He had lost himself on his ambitious path and now needed to find himself again. While he couldn't do it alone, it was something he had to do himself. So, he asked for time. This was only something that could happen with time. There was a long list of wrong doings Robert needed to apologize for. He had to apologize to his children and his wife individually. All four were going to be exceeding difficult and Robert would only speak to them when he felt he was ready. He wanted to start now but, he doubted if they would even believe anything he said. Robert didn't blame them either. He deserved worse than this. “I’m sure it’ll look dazzling on her finger. So when am I meeting your fiancee?” Everything went silent for him. Robert's eyes flicked from Mandy to Anton, to that ring, and back to Mandy. She was acting as if he wasn't standing there, which after their last evening together - he thought their next meeting was different. Robert knew he wouldn't get a kiss and a 'hi honey, how was your day' from her. Hell, he didn't even expect her to be in his office to begin with. Robert could only imagine where she thought he went for such a long time. He hoped he'd be able to explain, to tell her he was sticking to those promises he made. The word 'fiancee' echoed through his head several times. His eyes flicked back to his stores. I picked the wrong fucking time to stop drinking, he told himself. Still, he was going to stick to his promise. Robert was not going to drink. Even when everyone was gone, and he was alone - he wasn't going to drink, despite the fact that he wanted to drink himself until he died. "..."What the hell is he doing here?" Robert bit his tongue. It was his office, and he wanted to be an ass and ask them what the hell they were doing here. He didn't though. His mind was still trying to wrap around the word 'fiancee'. Robert knew of only one girl that Anton would marry - that Weasley girl. Sure enough, at the moment he thought of her, Robert heard her voice ring through his office. This wasn't going to end well. He could already tell. Robert watched as Dominique actually avoided him. She walked around him and jumped to Anton's side. This was a real bad time to stop drinking. His dark eyes now hopped from Mandy to Anton to Dominique, to their entwined hands, and back to Mandy again. The sight of her could keep him grounded. He hoped that by concentrating on her, he wouldn't do anything irrational and stupid. That was growing increasingly difficult. Robert had just finally dealt with the fact that Kelsey had eloped with Potter. Now, he had to deal with Anton marrying Weasley. Robert contemplated walking away. This image was going to haunt his office forever. He doubted if he would even be able to sit at his desk ever again. He'd have to rearrange the furniture (after destroying it). Even then, that probably wouldn't help. Wasn't a son suppose to ask his father how he should propose? How his mother was proposed to? Where was all that father/son stuff? Oh, wait - he remembered. His son hated him. There weren't many good father/son moments between them. Once, there had been many. Now, there was just a lot of hate, anger, and misguided feelings. Robert's eyes went back to the table. He even silently walked toward it. His hands to his side for a second, then he crossed them. Robert brought up one hand to his chin just staring. Just one tap, one tap of the third tile from the top left corner and it would be there full and waiting. Robert was beginning to doubt himself. He didn't think he had the strength to not take a drink. He didn't want to take a drink but, he felt his insides burning for it. Robert reminded himself that he had promised with every fiber of his being that he wouldn't do this. He wanted to just pick up the damned thing and throw it across the room. Robert walked away - from the table that his. He walked just a few paces further back into his office and faced a bookshelf. He stuck out his arms and leaned forward against it. Yes, Robert was angry. He was beyond angry. Only, he couldn't' decipher what it was he was angry about. It was an entire ocean of anger really. The waves were practically drowning him. Robert was angry that Mandy was in his office. He was angry that everyone was in his office. He was angry that his son was engaged and he found out by walking in on the conversation. He was angry that he wasn't apart of Kesley's wedding. He was angry at Jack Lestrange. He was angry at Bellatrix. He was angry at his dead father. Most importantly, Robert was angry with himself. He was angry that he picked the wrong time to stop drinking - and he was angry with himself for thinking that. He was trying. He was really trying but, sometimes you can't always win the battle. A deep frown cut into his face. He ripped off half the books of the shelves, throwing them aside like an angry child. He actually pulled the entire bookshelf forward and took it to the ground. Robert wildly took a few steps over the now trashed bookshelf, picked up his small table - the gift from his friend - and threw it with as much force as he could, clear across to the other side of his office. He aimed at the wall behind him, and not toward his family - which included Dominique. The tiles shattered, as did the crystal bottle that had been magically hidden in it. The table itself broke into about ten pieces. Did that make him feel better? He stood take a few deep breaths. Yeah...that didn't really help. Robert looked to the floor. He couldn't bring himself to look at Mandy, Anton, and Dominique. Robert immediately hated himself for his little display. He guessed that Dominique was scared, as he had scared the crap out of her before. She was on his list of people to apologize to. Robert grumbled a few inaudible words to himself. He really wished he hadn't take out the table. Without realizing it, Robert won one small battle. He just took out his favorite thing in the world - his vodka table. It was a giant feat. One stroke toward the shore. Robert still had yet to actually say anything to anyone in the room. words: 1278 tags: Mandy, Anton, Dominique notes: this didn't turn out as confusing as i thought but, definitely epic. Mandy witnessed the relief wash over her son’s features, however it was clear he was worried about another obstacle that would soon be heading his way. Robert. He had only just gotten adjusted to Kelsey marrying James, and even that took a while. Mandy had speculated that maybe he wouldn’t even get over that fact. Hell, she was pretty pissed at the news too, she wanted to be there when her daughter had gotten married, but at that time, Mandy and Kelsey’s relationship was at an all time low. There had been countless times when Mandy had suspected that Kelsey had married James out of impulse and anger at her, but apparently not. After coming to realize that their feelings where legitimate, Mandy had finally gave in and agreed to the marriage, accepting her son-in-law. Sighing Mandy looked at Anton, “It doesn’t matter if he approves or not, this is your chance at happiness, no one else’s.”
Everyone who knew Mandy, knew that she was against marriages. Well, not exactly marriages, just rushed relationships. When she had graduated from Hogwarts, she had been slipped into a dress and was married off as soon as humanly possible. She had never really took her goals and ambitions into pursuit at that time and it resulted in many regrets from her end. If only she had done thing differently, perhaps lived her life a little more, went to the extreme, but no she married and within the year she was impregnated with Anton. Her life had happened in the flash of an instant. Mandy had tried to tell her children that as the grew up, but obviously love had beat her to it. No one could predict when love would come, whether it would be when you where sixteen or sixty, but it seemed to hit their family sooner than later.
Anton’s voice snapped her back to reality and she focused on the young boy who sat in front of her. His question pulled on her heartstrings and she quickly turned her attention towards the floor. Now what was she supposed to say? She didn’t plan on telling any of her children about her relationship crisis, Kelsey had just happened to be there in the spare of the moment. Mandy had planned on waiting before she sat her family down and discussed the decision, and as of now, nothing was final so Mandy hadn’t planned on opening her mouth just yet. She had only told Brett of her crisis in hope that he’d offer some comfort, and he had. Moving her hazel eyes towards Robert, then flickering them towards Anton again, she began to feel uncomfortable. The feeling of contentment had quickly left the room and the tension was beginning to rise incredibly fast.
Mandy was pretty sure that Anton was forgetting that the room they currently sat in, was Robert’s office, and she was positive that was the main reason why he was there. Coming to think of it, where the hell had Robert been? Then furrowing her eyebrows at the first conclusion, she forced the thought out of her head as a young woman entered the room. That was when Anton took his stand. A smile slowly crept onto her lips as the young woman introduced herself. Weasley, wow, their kids really knew how to choose them. Flickering her eyes in Robert’s direction, she couldn’t help but smile slightly at the thought and turned her attention back to Dominique and Anton, “I must say, you have your father’s ability to choose the good looking women.” She laughed trying to keep the topic light-hearted, even though the thought of the ‘other woman’ quickly crept into her mind. “I’m Mandy Leblanc, Anton’s mother. I’m actually gob smacked that someone was able to catch and keep my son’s attention but I can already tell you’re a keeper.” Mandy smiled brightly at both of them.
Peace never lasted forever, especially with the Leblanc’s together. Mandy didn’t expect Robert to be all that chuffed at the news, but as she watched him walk towards them and then away, she was slowly beginning to think that things where going to get a lot worse. Then just as the thought slipped into her mind, Robert tore half of the books on his bookshelf off their place. Things where flying everywhere, tiles where shattering, glasses where smashing. Closing her eyes, she could slowly feel her cheeks burn up. “Welcome to the family…” Mandy mumbled before turning towards Robert, clearly not amused with his little outburst. Moving from Anton and Dominique’s side, she moved her way over the shattered glass, thrown books, everything that Robert manage to throw onto the floor. “Why is it you always have to make a scene?” Mandy mumbled to him, wanting to know what had caused his outburst, “What’s wrong?” She finally asked, trying to get something out of her husband.

Getting into this relationship with Anton, Dominique didn’t really know what to expect. When she began to date him he wasn’t yet a vampire. And then when he became one she didn’t want to be one of those girls who left their guy because of a slight bump in the road. She stayed with him and well looked what happened. It turned out to be the best decision in her life. Dom couldn’t ask for a better guy and she wouldn’t change anything in their relationship. Sure he being a vampire sometimes wasn’t the safest thing for her but she knew him too well now. Dominique knew when he was hungry and how to get him to go feed. Since he never left her side anymore. So she really didn’t get why he was a bit shocked to see her here.
So far Anton’s family really didn’t bother Dom that much. Only his father scared the crap out of her. Normally she was a rather brave person but for some reason his father not doing harm to her but just letting her imagination go wild was rather dangerous. She knew that the Headmaster probably wouldn’t do anything to her, one because she made Anton happy and the other because she was still a student at the school. But a Weasley getting attacked was something that was bound to happen so if the Headmaster had the urge to harm her he could always cover it up very quickly. That was why she did make sure to go around him. Who knew what could set him off? Dom knew he probably hated it that she walked right in but Anton was here. Hopefully he could at least see that she was that dedicated to him.
And other than the Headmaster hating her she was on a couple other hate lists. Something that Anton had to deal with, which she never wanted him to take apart of. But Dom guessed what she had to deal with her fiancée would have to also. So when Anton took her hand as soon as she walked in, she couldn’t help but smile up at him. He really did know her too well by now. He knew that when he held her in his arms that she knew she was safe. Anton also knew that how much Dominique was scared of his father. Well she never voiced it but when she told him about her first meeting with him she was pretty sure she got it. Hopefully this was going to go better than her imagination was thinking it would.
It was really such a relief for Dominique to hear his mother compliment her on her looks. Not because she was vain like that but because she didn’t want both of his parents hating her. One already did. It would be nice if when the wedding came around it wasn’t a total feud. Usually when a girl received a compliment like that one she just got they blushed. That didn’t happen with Dominique and Anton was the only one to make her blush. It came with the veela charm. Well at least she thought so. “Thank you, Mrs. LeBlanc.” She said smiling trying to make a good impression with his mother. She didn’t want to come off snobby or his mother knowing she was part veela. Even though she was bound to find out when the wedding came around. Everyone could tell away with Fleur. “I’m glad I grabbed his attention also.” Even though she still had no clue how she managed it. Dom looked up at him and again gave him a smile. Then she let her eyes finally go over to his father.
Dominique’s family life has always been fine until the death eaters tried to kill her. Well not all death eaters just Lily, who was dead now. That was a relief. But even just being in this room just for a bit she could feel the tension. Even though she wasn’t a LeBlanc yet she didn’t want each visit to her parents in law houses to be like this. She was used to a big, happy family. This would definitely be something she would have to get used to. When she looked over at Mr. LeBlanc she saw how different he looked. Actually she was pretty sure he aged at least ten years. He really did look different than the last time she saw him. Somehow she could tell he was trying to not do anything he would regret. Hopefully this went somewhere and ended up with everyone physically fine. Mentally hopefully some could get over it.
Before Dom knew it she saw the books flying and the table being smashed. The table that was smashed she saw break into a good amount of pieced but then she also noticed how the floor was now wet. Probably not everyone noticed it but those small things she always saw. That must have been where his alcohol was stored. When she visited him the first time he was drinking, even though she knew he tried passing it off as water. Can’t fool someone who worked as a bartender. The man was obviously hurting and she knew that this was their business. She could just be there for Anton when he came to her telling her exactly what was going on. Then she heard Mrs. LeBlanc’s little welcome. She looked over at the woman and gave her a small smile. Dominique really didn’t know what to say or do in this situation.
Once the Headmaster was done with his tantrum, Dom watched as his wife went over to him. She couldn’t see the love they had for one another. It was obvious to everyone that Dominique loved Anton and that he loved her. Did that happen to all couple? No, it couldn’t. She could still see her parents love. And they have been together for a while now. “I know this engagement is probably a bit of a shocker.” She started out with. Dom had to say something. Couldn’t make this be awkward and have Mister LeBlanc hate her forever. “And yes we are young and you probably think we are rushing into this. But I do love him and I also want his family to be a part of this wedding.” Dom said looking at both of his parents and then up at Anton. “I and hopefully I speak for Anton as well, would love for both of you to help us with this wedding. You can help us with whatever you think we need help with.”

The silence that followed his question about his parents getting a divorce said it all. Robert and Mandy didn't love each other anymore and they couldn't stand to stay together. It wasn't that big of a surprise, Anton had been watching their marriage fall apart for the past few years. He just wished that they would stay together and work things out, that way he could see how he was supposed to work things out with his own wife. Anton really just wanted the fighting to stop and his family to go back to the way they were when he was little. So many happy memories were tarnished as of recent events, that nothing really could mend the broken relationships. There would always be more bad memories than good that stood in the way of being happy.
His second question that he asked his mother as to why his father was there wasn't really understood correctly by anyone besides himself. What he truly meant was, did you set this up. Anton knew that he was in his father's office and that he had every right to be there, but he didn't want him there. The moment that he walked into the office, Anton couldn't help but think that his mum, or dad, had set this up, to try to get Anton to talk with them, possibly break him up with Dominique. Then again, the way his mother reacted when she told her that he was engaged told him otherwise. His father's presence took away all of the happiness that he was feeling talking to his mother and replaced it with tension. Anton couldn't think with his father there, he just got angry and wanted to walk out.
Anton smiled when his mother commented on his ability to pick beautiful women. He just hoped that Mandy didn't think that he proposed to Dom because of her looks. She was so much more, so smart, so funny, so witty. She knew Anton better than anyone on the planet and he knew her just as well. They were a perfect match and he hoped that she would spend eternity with him, literally. If there was one thing that his parents could realize, it would be that. He was slightly embarrassed when Mandy said that she was surprised he kept his attention on Dominique. It made him sound like a man whore, even though he wasn't. He just had a few one nighters with some girls.... But that was beside the point! He tried relationships and he just chose the wrong girls to have them with is all. Dom knew that, hopefully, so he let it go.
And then his father had a hissy fit. No warning, he just went off and smashed a few things. Okay, more than a few. More than half of his office got smashed, even the cabinet where his alcohol was got smashed, Anton was sure that his father was upset about that one. The more that he stayed in his father's office, the more pissed off he got. Robert's outburst just made it worse. He couldn't believe that he would put on such a show to Dom, let alone his own son. He rarely got to see his father in such a state without a real reason. He walked swiftly over to his father, and his mother since she was over there trying to get an answer as to why he tore up his office. His hand was soon clamped down onto his father's arm, extremely tight. That was the beauty of Anton's strength, before and after being a vampire. Before, despite being very strong, he could still be out-muscled by his father, and after, well Robert didn't have a chance. If he wanted his son to let go, he was going to have to use magic.
Anton began in a low voice. "What the hell is the matter with you?You can't even keep it together for five fucking minutes without exploding. For Christ's sake, at least wait until your child is out of the room." By the time he finished, his voice turned into a growl, showing his disgust towards his father. He couldn't believe that he would do that in front of anyone. Maybe he was completely drunk, but Anton couldn't smell the alcohol in his blood. Blood. Anton hadn't fed in a few days, at least four. He still didn't have as much control over his thirst as he would have liked, but the trust that Dom had in him gave him the confidence that he needed to sustain himself and refrain from feeding. Anton's grip was still tight on his father, no doubt causing discomfort. The real reason he was doing this was to prevent him from doing it again, or channeling his anger towards Dom, who he just found out was his son's fiancee.
And then Dom spoke. Her voice was so soothing to Anton. He just wanted to take her hand and walk out of the office, never to return even when summoned by Robert. Despite relaxing slightly, his grip tightened even more. He wasn't sure whether or not her words would antagonize his father and make him do more damage, so it was better to be safe than sorry. Man was his father going to have a bruise after Anton let go. He allowed Dom to finish, knowing that she would have something good to say, something that he would agree with. And she did. He wanted his parents to be a part of the wedding and to help as much as they could. Robert not as much as Mandy, but Dom was trying to mend the relationship between Robert and Anton that had gotten destroyed somewhere along the line. Once she finished, Anton kept silent, waiting for his parents to react.
